Rebel Movie Review: ప్రేమ‌లు మూవీతో ఓవ‌ర్‌నైట్‌లో స్టార్‌గా మారిన మ‌మితా బైజు రెబెల్ మూవీతో కోలీవుడ్‌లోకి ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చింది. ఇటీవ‌ల ఈ సినిమా అమెజాన్ ప్రైమ్ ఓటీటీలో రిలీజైంది.

Rebel Movie Review: జీవీ ప్ర‌కాష్ కుమార్‌, మ‌మితా బైజు హీరోహీరోయిన్లుగా న‌టించిన త‌మిళ మూవీ రెబెల్ ఇటీవ‌ల అమెజాన్ ప్రైమ్ ఓటీటీలో రిలీజైంది. కుల వివ‌క్ష నేప‌థ్యంలో తెర‌కెక్కిన ఈ సినిమాకు నిఖేష్ ద‌ర్శ‌క‌త్వం వ‌హించాడు. ఈ మూవీతోనే ప్రేమ‌లు ఫేమ్ మ‌మితా బైజు కోలీవుడ్‌లోకి ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చింది. తెలుగులోనూ స్ట్రీమింగ్ అవుతోన్న రెబెల్‌ సినిమా ఎలా ఉందంటే?

క‌థిర్ పోరాటం...

క‌థిరేస‌న్ (జీవీ ప్ర‌కాష్ కుమార్‌), సెల్వ (ఆదిత్య భాస్క‌ర్‌) త‌ల్లిదండ్రులు మున్నార్ తేయాకు తోట‌ల్లో కూలీలుగా ప‌నిచేస్తుంటారు. పిల్ల‌లు త‌మ‌లాగే కూలీలుగా బ‌త‌క‌కూడ‌ద‌ని క‌థిర్‌, సెల్వ‌ల‌ను వారి త‌ల్లిదండ్రులు క‌ష్ట‌ప‌డి చ‌దివిస్తారు.

త‌ల్లిదండ్రుల ఆశ‌లు నిల‌బెడుతూ క‌థిరేస‌న్‌, సెల్వ‌ల‌కు పాల‌క్క‌డ్‌లోని ప్ర‌భుత్వ క‌ళాశాల‌లో సీటు వ‌స్తుంది. ఎన్నో క‌ల‌ల‌తో పాల‌క్క‌డ్ వ‌స్తారు క‌థిర్, సెల్వ‌. పాల‌క్క‌డ్ ప్ర‌భుత్వ క‌ళాశాల‌లో మ‌ల‌యాళీ స్టూడెంట్స్ అధిప‌త్యం కొన‌సాగుతుంటుంది. కాలేజీలో టీఎస్‌క్యూ , ఎస్ఎఫ్‌వై అనే స్టూడెంట్ యూనియ‌న్స్‌ మ‌ధ్య ఎప్పుడూ గొడ‌వ‌లు జ‌రుగుతుంటాయి.

కాలేజీ ఎన్నిక‌ల్లో ఏ యూనియ‌న్ గెలిస్తే వారు చెప్పిన‌ట్లే స్టూడెంట్స్ అంద‌రూ న‌డుచుకోవాల్సివ‌స్తుంది. టీఎస్‌క్యూ యూనియ‌న్ లీడ‌ర్ ఆంథోనీకి లోక‌ల్ ఎమ్మెల్యే స‌పోర్ట్ ఉండ‌టంతో రౌడీలా రెచ్చిపోతుంటాడు. క‌థిరేస‌న్‌, సెల్వ‌తో పాటు మున్నార్ నుంచి వ‌చ్చిన మిగిలిన స్టూడెంట్స్ ను ర్యాగింగ్ పేరుతో దారుణంగా అవ‌మానిస్తాడు ఆంథోనీ.

త‌మ‌తో పాటు హాస్ట‌ల్‌లో త‌మిళ స్టూడెంట్స్ ఉండ‌కూడ‌ద‌ని రూల్ పెడ‌తాడు ఆంథోనీ. ప్రిన్సిప‌ల్ కూడా అత‌డిని ఏం చేయ‌లేక‌పోతాడు. ఓ గొడ‌వ‌లో ఆంథోనీని ఎదిరిస్తాడు సెల్వ‌. కోపంతో సెల్వ‌ను చంపేస్తాడు ఆంథోనీ. త‌న‌కున్న ప‌లుకుబ‌డితో సెల్వ‌నే బిల్డింగ్‌పై నుంచి ప‌డి ఆత్మ‌హ‌త్య చేసుకున్న‌ట్లుగా దొంగ సాక్ష్యాలు సృష్టిస్తాడు.

సెల్వ‌ మ‌ర‌ణంతో ఆంథోనీపై ప‌గ‌ను పెంచుకున్న క‌థిర్ టీఎస్‌యూ పేరుతో సొంతంగా పార్టీని ఏర్పాటుచేస్తాడు. కాలేజీ ఎలెక్ష‌న్స్‌లో టీఎస్‌క్యూ , ఎస్ఎఫ్‌వైల‌తో పోటీప‌డ‌తాడు. ఈ ఎన్నిక‌ల్లో క‌థిర్ విజ‌యం సాధించాడా?

క‌థిర్ ఎన్నిక‌ల్లో నిల‌బ‌డ‌టం స‌హించ‌ని అంథోనీతో పాటు ఎస్ఎఫ్‌వై లీడ‌చ్ చార్లి అత‌డికి ఎలాంటి అడ్డంకుల‌ను సృష్టించారు? క‌థిర్ చంపాల‌ని ఎందుకు అనుకున్నారు? ఈ పోరాటంలో క‌థిర్‌కు సారా మేరీ జాన్ (మ‌మితా బైజు) ఎలా అండ‌గా నిలిచింది? క‌థిర్‌కు పోటీగా ఎన్నిక‌ల్లో నిల‌బ‌డిన సారా అత‌డి మంచిత‌నాన్ని ఎలా అర్థం చేసుకుంది అన్న‌దే ఈ మూవీ క‌థ‌.

కుల వివ‌క్ష బ్యాక్‌డ్రాప్‌లో...

కుల వివ‌క్ష‌, సామాజిక అంత‌రాల‌తో మిగిలిన భాష‌ల‌తో పోలిస్తే కోలీవుడ్‌ లో ఎక్కువ‌గా సినిమాలు వ‌స్తోంటాయి. వెట్రిమార‌న్‌, పా రంజిత్‌, మారి సెల్వ‌రాజ్‌తో పాటు ప‌లువురు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు అణ‌గారిన వ‌ర్గాల స‌మ‌స్య‌లు, వారి వ్య‌థ‌ల‌ను సిల్వ‌ర్ స్క్రీన్‌పై ఆవిష్క‌రిస్తూ విజ‌యాల్ని అందుకున్నారు. రెబెల్‌తో డైరెక్ట‌ర్ నిఖేష్ ఆర్ ఎస్ అదే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశాడు.

1980 కాలం నాటి కథ…

1980 కాలంలో కుల‌, భాష‌ప‌ర‌మైన వివ‌క్ష ఎలా ఉండేది. చ‌దువు కోసం అట్ట‌డుగు వ‌ర్గాల వారు ఎలాంటి క‌ష్టాలు ప‌డేవార‌న్న‌ది వాస్త‌విక కోణంలో రెబెల్ మూవీలో చూపించాడు డైరెక్ట‌ర్‌. స్టూడెంట్స్ యూనియ‌న్స్ పేరుతో విద్యార్థుల జీవితాల‌తో రాజ‌కీయ నాయ‌కులు ఎలా చెల‌గాటం ఆడుతారు, త‌మ ఉనికి, అధికారాన్ని కాపాడుకోవ‌డానికి నాయ‌కులు వేసే ఎత్తుల‌ను ఈ మూవీలో చ‌ర్చించారు.

త‌మ వ‌ర్గం వారిని బానిస బ‌త‌కుల నుంచి విముక్తి క‌ల్పించి స‌మాన‌మైన విద్యా అవ‌కాశాల‌ను క‌ల్పించ‌డం కోసం అగ్ర వ‌ర్ణాల‌తో పాటు ప్ర‌భుత్వం చ‌ట్టాల‌తో ఓ సాధార‌ణ విద్యార్థి ఎలాంటి పోరాటం సాగించాడ‌న్న‌ది యాక్ష‌న్‌ , ఎమోష‌న‌ల్ అంశాల‌తో రెబెల్ క‌థ‌ను రాసుకున్నాడు డైరెక్ట‌ర్‌.

సందేశం బాగుంది కానీ...

రెబెల్ మూవీలో ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు చెప్పాల‌నుకున్న సందేశం మంచిదే. కానీ చెప్పిన విధానంలోనే ఆస‌క్తి లోపించింది. సినిమా మొత్తం రిపీటెడ్ సీన్స్‌తో, సిల్లీ సీక్వెన్స్‌ల‌తో న‌డుస్తుంది. కాలేజీ ఎన్నిక‌ల సీన్స్ అయితే ఓపిక‌కు ప‌రీక్ష పెడ‌తాయి. విల‌న్స్ వేసే ఎత్తుల‌ను హీరో తిప్పికొట్టే సీన్స్ డైరెక్ట‌ర్‌ బ‌లంగా రాసుకోలేదు. ల‌వ్‌స్టోరీ సినిమా నిడివి పెంచ‌డానికే ఉప‌యోగ‌ప‌డింది. హీరోయిన్ క్యారెక్ట‌ర్‌ను క‌థ‌లో కావాల‌నే ఇరికించిన‌ట్లుగా అనిపిస్తుంది.

జీవీ ప్ర‌కాష్ కుమార్ క‌ష్టం...

క‌థిర్ పాత్ర‌కు న్యాయం చేసేందుకు జీవీ ప్ర‌కాష్ కుమార్ చాలా క‌ష్ట‌ప‌డ్డాడు. ఇష్ట‌మైన చ‌దువు కోసం ఎన్ని క‌ష్టాల‌నైనా ఎదురించే యువ‌కుడిగా త‌న న‌ట‌న‌తో మెప్పించాడు. యాక్ష‌న్ సీన్స్‌తో పాటు ఎమోష‌న‌ల్ స‌న్నివేశాల్లో అద‌ర‌గొట్టాడు. రెబెల్ మూవీతోనే మ‌మితా బైజు కోలీవుడ్‌లోకి ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చింది. ఆమె క్యారెక్ట‌ర్‌కు ఏ మాత్రం ఇంపార్టెన్స్ లేదు. క‌థిర్‌కు పోటీగా ఆంథోనీ పాత్ర‌ధారి విల‌నిజం బాగా వ‌ర్క‌వుట్ అయ్యింది. జీవీ ప్ర‌కాష్ కుమార్ అందించిన బీజీఎమ్ సినిమాకు ప్ల‌స్ పాయింట్‌గా నిలిచింది.

This week, various movies and web series are ready to captivate audiences. December’s first week promises delightful entertainment. Between November 27 and December 3, several movies are set to make a splash in theaters, while new movies and web series are gearing up to stream on OTT platforms. Let’s look at what’s in store.

Theatrical Releases:

An action thriller directed by Sandeep Vanga and starring Ranbir Kapoor as the lead, featuring Rashmika as the heroine and Bobby Deol as the antagonist. Completed and ready for release on December 1 in both Hindi and Telugu, “Animal” has generated buzz due to its intriguing trailer and Sandeep Vanga’s direction, known for “Arjun Reddy”. The movie’s runtime is a notable 3 hours and 21 minutes.

A crime thriller starring Karthik Raju, with Simran Choudary and Ira as the leading ladies. Directed by Mahesh Reddy and produced by Subhash Nuthalapati, the film, rich in crime and thrilling elements, promises to keep the audience engaged throughout. It’s scheduled for release on December 1.

Calling Sahasra

Featuring Sudigali Sudheer of “Jabardasth” fame and actress Dollysha, this film is directed by Arun Vikkirala and produced by Vijesh Tayal, Chiranjeevi Pamidi, and Venkateswarlu Katoori. A suspense thriller, it’s set for release on December 1 and is expected to attract the youth with its contemporary style.

Upendra Gadi Adda

A small-budget film releasing this week, starring Kancherla Upendra and Savitri Krishna, and directed by Aryan Subhan. Kancherla Achyutarao produced this commercial, mass-oriented film, which is tailored to the current trend and aims to captivate young audiences. It’s also scheduled for release on December 1.

Vikram Rathod

A bilingual (Telugu and Tamil) film directed by Babu Yogeswaran and starring Vijay Antony. Produced under Apollo Productions and SNS Movies by Ravoori Venkataswamy and S. Kaushalya Rani, it features prominent actors like Suresh Gopi, Ramya Nambisan, Sonu Sood, and Sangeetha. Music by Ilaiyaraaja, the film is set to release on December 1.

OTT Releases / Web Series:

A suspense thriller web series featuring Naga Chaitanya in the lead role of journalist Sagar, directed by Vikram K. Kumar. Consisting of eight episodes, “Dhootha” will start streaming on Amazon from December 1.

The new and last week of September is here and a plethora of options for the entertainment seekers are lined up. For enthusiasts who like to experience films in all their grandeur on the big silver screen and couch potatoes who prefer to watch them in their comfort, exciting titles are releasing this week.

List Of Telugu Theatrical Releases

Skanda On September 28

Ram Pothineni's latest action entertainer written and directed by Boyapati Sreenu, Skanda, is going to have a grand release worldwide. The movie promises a mass feast to the fans of the actor and hyped expectations with its two theatrical trailers. Ram sported a bulky look for this emotional action drama which is his first pan-India release in five languages.

Chandramukhi 2 On September 28

The much-hyped sequel of the highly successful film Chandramukhi, Chandramukhi 2 is finally releasing worldwide to high expectations. The reason is Kangana Ranaut. The 'Queen' is making a comeback to Tamil films with Chandramukhi 2 as the lead character. The movie will be released in dubbed versions as well. P Vasu, director of the first one with Rajinikanth and Jyothika helmed the sequel featuring Raghava Lawrence. The trailer though did not reach the expectations of the fans of the movie and regular movie buffs.

Peddha Kapu-1 On September 29

Director Srikanth Addala, who made two family dramas with Superstar Mahesh Babu attempted a realistic action drama titled Pedhha Kapu, featuring a debutant Virat Karrna. The movie's first part is going to hit the screens this week. The movie discusses the issues between privileged and underprivileged people set against the backdrop of casteism in a village.

List Of Telugu OTT Releases This Week

Kumari Srimathi On Amazon Prime Video

The movie is an Amazon Prime original film that is set to hit the digital streaming platform on September 28. Gomtesh Upadhye directed the movie which was created by filmmaker-actor Srinivas Avasarala.

Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt, the producers of the National Award-winning film Mahanati, and co-producers of Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD have funded the project.

Akhil Akkineni's Agent On SonyLIV

Agent is one of the hyped action-spy thrillers that hit the screens in 2023 amid high expectations. The movie crashed at the box office immediately after its release. However, the movie's OTT debut took a long time. Finally, the date has been announced as September 29.

Papam Pasivadu On Aha

This new-age romantic drama starring Sreerama Chandra is written and directed by Lalith Kumar. The movie charts the journey of a 34-year-old guy Kranthi, who wants to fall in love and get married. He meets girls and travels with them only to be dumped or break up. What happens next? is to be seen directly on Aha on September 29.

List of Telugu movies releasing this week

Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer mythological drama  Shaakuntalam is going to release solo in theaters this week. Big movies from Tollywood are not coming  in the theaters  to compete with Shaakuntalam movie. Gunasekhar is directing this movie which is being made as a mythological love story. Based on the love story of Dushyanta and Shakuntala in Mahabharata, Gunasekhar  helmed this big budget film. Malayalam actor Dev Mohan is playing King Dushyant  whereas Samantha is playing the titular role. The film will be released in pan-Indian level in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and other languages.

This week two Tamil dubbing movies are going to greet the Telugu audience. Raghava Lawrence  starrer Rudrudu is releasing on April 14. Kathiresan directed this action thriller movie in which  Priyabhavani Shankar is playing the female lead.

 Also Vidudala directed by Vetrimaran is going to hit the theaters on April 15. Allu Aravind is releasing this movie in Telugu and the film has Suri and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. This movie which was recently released in Tamil with the title Vidudala is receiving praise from critics.

 Samantha and Dev Mohan starrer Shaakuntalam is going to be released in 3D. Advance bookings are good due to Samantha’s fan following in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. Finally Samantha is ready for the real box office test this week. Will she pass this test?

'Aavesham' review: This Fahadh Faasil movie is a fun ride

The film maintains a celebratory mood from beginning till end

Filmmaker Jithu Madhavan operates much like a skilled chemist; he meticulously adheres to the tried-and-tested "formulas" required for his subject to cook up success. His debut film,  Romancham , was the perfect blend for theatrical success by combining elements of traditional horror with wit. Now, with  Aavesham  (Excitement), he ventures into another genre-blender—a mobster comedy—adhering closely to established genre conventions, tropes, and plot devices. 

The cornerstone of any mobster comedy lies in its eccentric central character. On-screen, Fahadh Faasil as Rangan, a Bengaluru-based don, embodies this eccentricity flawlessly. The film boldly opens with a title card declaring its intent to "re-introduce" Fahadh Faasil. This reviewer found that the filmmaker lives up to that claim, reintroducing FaFa (Faasil, as his fans call him) in a role where he skillfully blends narcissism, absurdity, and the quirks of a don with continuous wit and light-heartedness. While FaFa previously portrayed the psychopathic character Shammi in Kumbalangi Nights, Aavesham 's Rangan exudes a different kind of frenetic energy, showcasing a new facet of his acting prowess.

The central plot of Aavesham revolves around a classic 'fish-out-of-water scenario,' wherein three college students find themselves entangled in unexpected circumstances. Debutants Hipzter, Mithun Jai Sankar, and Roshan Shanavas portray these students who inadvertently become entwined with the mobster Rangan. Ego with college seniors leads them to Rangan, but from there, they become ensnared in a series of absurd situations that even jeopardize their lives. Madhavan skilfully ensures that his seemingly hollow plot is elevated by entertaining absurd humour and outlandish scenarios that defy logic and reason. Throughout, the film maintains a light-hearted tone while exploring themes of power struggles and the complexities of everyday existence.

Friendship between a mob boss and his henchmen, or a ragtag group of misfits thrown together by circumstance, are common tropes in successful mobster comedies. In Aavesham, audiences will encounter both of these scenarios. Sajin Gopu delivers a stellar performance as Rangan’s henchman, Amban, whose costume evokes memories of Vikraman from Balarama’s Maayavi comics.

The film's first half is tightly edited, but there is a noticeable dip in pace during the initial portions of the second half. Additionally, there are moments where this reviewer felt somewhat detached from the tensions experienced by the trio. But towards the climax, the film once again gets charged up and takes the audience on a rollercoaster ride into the world of madness exhibited by Rangan. FaFa, as a performer, brings out his complete form only in those climax portions.

The script contains multiple clichéd moments. However, Madhavan cleverly covers these cliches with witty one-liners and banter, and FaFa’s “Eda Mone” catchphrase is likely to earn an iconic place in Malayalam pop culture. Even when the film takes several freakish turns, the filmmaker abstains from any kind of forced or slapstick comedy elements. Instead, it is in the dialogues crackling with energy and wit that Madhavan puts his trust to engage the audience. On multiple occasions, the film builds up an emotional scene and then eases the audience with light comedy.

Mashar Hamsa’s costume designs and Chethan Dsouza’s action choreography deserve praise, showcasing excellence on the technical side. Sushin Shyam delivers energy-pumping soundtracks, while Samir Thahir vividly captures the transition from thug life to the Insta reel life of Rangan.

The film maintains a celebratory mood from beginning to end, catering primarily to a youthful audience. Female characters and elements of romance or love are almost non-existent, with the plot heavily invested in male ego and adrenaline rushes.  Aavesham  is adorned with references from a variety of films, ranging from the iconic Hollywood film  The Shining  to Madhavan’s debut film,  Romancham.

Final Thoughts: If you're in search of a drama adhering to the confines of realism,  Aavesham  may not be the right pick for you. However, if your intention is to just chill and celebrate in this festival season, the movie won’t disappoint.

Family Star Hindi Dub Release Date Window Confirmed, Claim Reports

Family Star is just around the corner, and Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur’s fans eagerly await to watch it. It marks another collaboration between the actor and director Parasuram. Since Deverakonda’s last two outings did not impress the audience as their makers had anticipated, fans’ hopes are high for his upcoming family drama. While the movie is simultaneously being released in Telugu and Tamil, details of its Hindi release date are not yet available. However, a new report claims the release will not take much time.

Family Star follows the story of Govardhan, a common man who loves his family. As per the trailer, he does not think twice before fighting goons when it comes to his dear ones. His life seemingly changes when he crosses paths with Indhu, who eventually becomes his better half. Producer Dil Raju has already revealed that most of the movie is a romance comedy, and the rest is a family drama. Therefore, seeing how the movie will unfold on the silver screens would be interesting.

When will Family Star Hindi version release?

Family Star’s Telugu and Tamil exclusive theatrical releases are taking place on April 5, 2024. Now, all eyes are on the movie’s Hindi dub’s release date. According to a report by 123telugu.com, the Hindi version will be out in the next two weeks. Alongside the Hindi dub, the movie will be released in Malayalam.

Fans are upset with the news as there is a massive buzz around Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur’s pairing.

Apart from the two leads, the Family Star also features Abhinaya, Vasuki, Ravi Babu, and Vennela Kishore. Moreover, a cameo by Rashmika Mandanna is also making rounds. However, when the producer was questioned about the same, he refused to answer and asked the audience to watch the movie.
