Alphabet tracing worksheets are a great tool to have on hand for handwriting practice. This 27-page pack is ready to print and go!
These free printable alphabet worksheets are perfect for penmanship practice. They feature both uppercase and lowercase letters to aid you in teaching letter recognition, as well.
Because these worksheets are print-and-go, they’re perfect for both home and classroom use. You can also add the individual worksheets to your Letter of the Week preschool lesson plans.

Add these letter tracing worksheets to your lesson plans anytime of the year. You can also use them with older kids who need a little extra handwriting practice.
How to Teach the Alphabet to Preschoolers
One of the most important things you can do when teaching the alphabet to preschoolers is to make it fun. After all, if they’re not having fun, they’re not going to want to learn.
There are a lot of different ways to make learning the alphabet fun. You can use songs, games, poems, or even simple crafts. Whatever you do, just make sure that you’re being creative and that you’re keeping their attention.
It’s also important to go at their pace. Don’t try to force them to learn faster than they’re ready. If they’re struggling with a particular letter, go back and review it a few times until they’ve got it down.
With a little patience and a lot of creativity, you’ll have those preschoolers reading the alphabet in no time.
Writing the Alphabet
For many preschoolers and kindergarteners, learning to write the alphabet is one of their first big milestones. And while it may seem like a simple task, teaching kids how to write letters can be a bit tricky. After all, there’s a lot of fine motor coordination involved.
Not to mention, some kids simply don’t enjoy the process of sitting still and tracing letters. If you’re struggling to teach your little one how to write the alphabet, here are a few tips that might help.
First, make sure your child is using the proper grip. This will help them form letters correctly and make writing less tiring for their hands.
Second, provide plenty of opportunities for practice. Try setting up an alphabet writing center or creating alphabet-themed worksheets.
And finally, be patient. Learning to write takes time and practice. So don’t get discouraged if it takes a while for your child to master this skill.

To prepare these alphabet tracing worksheets for use, just print them out, gather writing and coloring tools, and your kiddos are all set.
However, you can make these worksheets reusable by laminating them or slipping them into a dry erase pocket.
Have children use a dry erase marker to complete the activities and then wipe the pages clean when they are done.
Alphabet Writing Practice Worksheets
Present your child with the worksheet of choice along with a writing utensil. They’re ready to go!
Your preschooler will trace the large letters in the top left corner to get a feel for the proper way to form each letter.
Then, they’ll just trace the letters on the lines. It’s just that easy!
If you’d like to make these worksheets reusable you can laminate them. You could also slip them in a dry erase pocket. Then, have children complete each page with a dry erase marker.
For a little added fine motor fun, let kids form the large letters with playdoh or wikki stix before completing the handwriting portion.
Kids who enjoy coloring can color the image in the top right corner. This is also a great time to discuss beginning sounds.

Alphabet Books
Alphabet books are a great way to help preschoolers and kindergarteners learn their letters. And they don’t have to be boring, either!
There are all sorts of fun and engaging alphabet books out there, from books that teach the letters through rhyming verses to books that feature adorable animals.
Alphabet books can also be a great way for parents and caregivers to bond with their little ones. Reading together is always a special time, and it’s even more special when you’re sharing a book that’s helping your child learn something new.
So whether you’re looking for a gift for a preschooler in your life or you just want to add some new titles to your home library, be sure to check out some alphabet books for kids!
• ABC’s for Boys – This one of a kind, hand illustrated alphabet book combines letters with all of boys’ favorite things–airplanes, dump trucks, and more!

• Pinkalicious ABC – A is for Apple. B is for Bubble Bath. C is for Cupcake. What could be better than learning your ABC’s with Pinkalicious in this pinkamazing board book?

What activities can I do with my preschooler to help them learn the alphabet?
One great way to help your preschooler learn the alphabet is to incorporate letter learning into everyday activities. For example, you can point out letters when you are driving or reading signs aloud.
You can also help your child practice writing letters in a variety of different materials, such as sand, shaving cream, or paint.
In addition, there are many alphabet-themed games and activities that you can do together, such as making homemade letter cards or matching objects to the correct initial sound.
By making letter learning fun and interactive, you can help your preschooler develop a strong foundation for future success in reading and writing.
