A Fitbit offers a lot of fantastic features to keep track of your health, but there’s a key function you’ll want to make sure works properly: the clock. Unfortunately, the time on your Fitbit device may not always be exact. Don’t worry; there is an easy solution to adjust it.

To be clear, you should not be required to do this. Most of the time, if you go to a different time zone and connect your Fitbit to your phone, it will adjust to the correct time automatically. It should also update to account for daylight savings time.

Nevertheless, if the time on your Fitbit is incorrect, resolving the problem is a breeze. Here’s how to go about it on all your devices.

How to Change the Time From an iPhone and iPad

Because your device is linked to your phone, which is already tracking your location and time zone, you shouldn’t have to repeat these procedures very frequently. However, there are moments when Fitbit malfunctions and stops syncing time — for example if you abruptly switch between several time zones while your phone is turned off.

If you switched time zones and the clock on your device is still inaccurate after syncing, double-check the time zone settings. Here are some steps to change your settings:

How to Change Time from an Android

The Fitbit app can be used on Android devices as well. The time-changing process is also straightforward to do, and it only takes a couple of minutes out of your time. Follow these steps:

To Change the Time Use Synchronization

Getting the right time may be as simple as re-syncing your Fitbit. To accomplish this, perform the following steps:

Should your Fitbit still display the incorrect time, try manually changing the time by following the procedures in the upper section.

FAQs About Fitbit

How do i set the correct time on my fitbit.

The first thing you need to do is sync your Fitbit to your cellphone. In theory, after you’ve done this, you shouldn’t need to make any other adjustments because your location and time zone will be tracked.

However, there will be instances when your Fitbit’s time will fall behind. It’s possible that your phone was turned off while you shifted time zones and couldn’t relay the right information to your device.

If you discover that your Fitbit is out of synchronization, there are two options to resolve the issue. The first step is to link your Fitbit to your smartphone again (you can also use a computer or tablet). This may be the quickest way to adjust the clock on your device. If that doesn’t work, try this:

1. Start your Fitbit tracker.

2. Check that Bluetooth is activated on your preferred partnering device.

3. Launch the Fitbit app.

4. On the app, tap the Fitbit symbol on your phone.

5. A small menu should appear, reflecting the last time your Fitbit synced.

6. To execute a manual sync, select the symbol that looks like two arrows creating a circle.

How do I change the time face on my Fitbit?

If your Fitbit displays a “Clock Error,” you may need to adjust your clock face. To adjust, follow these steps:

1. Open the Fitbit app on your preferred device and select Today .

2. Choose your profile photo first, then your device icon.

3. Select Clock Faces and then All Clocks .

4. Look through the different clock faces and choose the one you want to use.

5. Re-sync your Fitbit to notice the difference.

What are the best Fitbit trackers of 2023?

• Fitbit Versa 3

Fitbit Versa has long been the finest smartphone Fitbit, but Versa 3 adds some long-requested features and makes everything in the Versa lineage seem a little nicer.

Most notably, there is increased heart-rate monitoring accuracy during strenuous activity. There is also a built-in GPS (which is also fairly accurate, albeit not the fastest to lnk) and the choice of an always-on screen. That latter one is terrific news for those of us who were irritated by the need to flick our wrists to activate the screen on Fitbit’s previous model.

• Fitbit Sense

Fitbit Sense is much prettier than the Versa 3 and has some intriguing features like stress tracking and an ECG. However, we anticipate that for most people, these new functions will be intriguing rather than helpful. In addition, the Fitbit Secostscost $100 more than the Versa 3.

However, the Sense is now frequently available for less than its manufacturer’s suggested retail price, so if you’re curious about the extra capabilities, now is the time to test them out. The Sense’s purchase includes a six-month Fitbit Premium Membership, which is a fantastic bonus.

• Fitbit Charge 4

The waterproof and tiny Fitbit Charge 4 is the latest Fitbit and its best-ever fitness band, fresh off the assembly line. If you’re looking for a band, it doesn’t get much better than this.

The addition of GPS and Activity Minutes – a monitoring mechanism for more rigorous activity than simply taking steps – aligns it with Garmin’s fitness bands. Fitbit’s app, on the other hand, is notably better than Garmin’s, and the Charge 4 is also less expensive than many of its competitor’s bands.

• Fitbit Inspire 2

The Inspire 2 is aimed at more regular users and makes it easy to register and track progress, even if the activity is not being tracked as a workout, due to the Active Zone Minutes feature.

The Inspire 2 comes with features like goal-based exercise modes, sleep cycle tools, 24/7 heart rate tracking, women’s health tracking, and meals and hydration consumption monitoring. In addition, you get encouragement every day right on your wrist; the Fitbit Inspire 2 can help you build healthy behaviors.

Fit in Your Time

Changing the clock on your Fitbit may not seem like an apparent requirement, but there are times when you’ll need to adjust your Fitbit wristwatch or activity tracker manually. It doesn’t matter if it’s Charge or a Versa.

Fitbit devices are incredibly reliable in displaying the time, regardless of whether you’ve reached a new time zone. But that doesn’t mean they’re faultless. Follow our guide to fix your Fitbit time troubles.

If you’ve followed the steps of our how-to but still have a Fitbit that doesn’t display the correct time, consider restarting both your smartphone and Fitbit. Initiate a manual sync after both devices have rebooted. This should fix the issue.

How to change the time on your Fitbit

A Fitbit does lots of great things , but there's one simple feature you surely want to work correctly: the clock. Sometimes, however, the time on your Fitbit device might not be correct. Don't fret: There is a simple fix.

Now, to be clear, you shouldn't have to do this. For the most part, if you travel to a new time zone and sync your Fitbit to your phone, then it should adjust for you. It should also change with daylight savings time.

However, if your time isn't correct, fixing the issue is super easy. Here's how to do it, in six easy steps.

1. Click on your profile in the Fitbit app

Open the Fitbit app and locate your profile picture in the upper left corner. Click on it.

2. Select "App Settings"

4. Switch the "Set Automatically" setting off

Normally, you'd want to use the setting that automatically updates your time zone. It's quite convenient. But if you've synced your device and the time is still off, then something has gone wrong. So you've got to flip that setting to off in order to fix the issue.

5. Select the "Time Zone" tab

Click on the tab that'll direct to selecting your time zone.

6. Select your correct time zone from the list

After selecting the time zone tab, you should be taken to a page with a lengthy list of global time zones. Pick the one that is correct for your location. For me, for instance, that would be America/New York (ET) since I live in New York City.

Here's what that page looks like.

From there, just make sure to sync your device — you do that by refreshing your home screen in the Fitbit app — and you should be all set. Go about your merry way with the correct time on your wrist.

Has your Fitbit device started showing the wrong time? While that's certainly annoying, there's no need to panic. You just need to give your fitness tracker a simple push in the right direction to get back on track.

Updating your Fitbit

Changing the time zone, bonus tip: changing between 12-hour and 24-hour clock formats, what you need.

Unfortunately, you can't change the time manually on Fitbit devices because the watches sync their times based on what time zone the device thinks it's in — emphasis on "thinks." Sometimes this process gets messed up due mainly to the Fitbit battery dying or some similar issue. If your Fitbit is starting to show the wrong time, there are several ways to correct it. Below we've listed the best methods for how to change the time on a Fitbit.

First things first: Make sure your Fitbit device and your Fitbit app have been updated to the latest edition. First, plug your Fitbit into its charger and open the app. If the app needs to be updated, it will let you know upon launching. Here's how to update the device:

Step 1: Select the Account icon (it looks like a square with text lines in it), and choose the proper Fitbit device, if necessary.

Step 2: After choosing the right device, look for a pink Update (sometimes Update Tracker ) bar. If there’s no button, your device is already updated.

If there is a choice to update, select it. Updates sometimes fix time errors after resetting the Fitbit , so it’s a great way to take care of two things at once. The update takes around an hour to complete.

If updating your app and device didn’t fix the incorrect time, then you’ll need to make sure its time zone setting is correct. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open your Fitbit app from the appropriate device. It’s generally best for your Fitbit to be close by during this procedure.

Step 2: Choose the Account icon from the Fitbit app home screen. This is located in the top menu section and looks like a square bubble with lines resembling a paragraph of text.

Step 3: Make sure you have the right device selected, if necessary. Now, look for the tab that reads Advanced Settings (sometimes it’s just Settings ) and select it.

Step 4: If you’re using the app on an Android or iOS device, you need to take a moment and turn off the automatic time zone feature — this may be the root of your problem.

Step 5: Stay in Advanced Settings and look for an option that says either Time Zone or Select time zone, then choose that option. This allows you to select your correct time zone from a list.

Step 6: Navigate back to your Account window. Look for the option that says Sync Now and select it. Your Fitbit device should now sync and display the time for the time zone you selected. Check to make sure it’s working correctly.

Prefer military time (or not)? You can customize your app to use the 12-hour or 24-hour format. Here's a guide.

Step 1: Fitbit prefers you do this from the Fitbit online dashboard . Log in and select the gear-shaped icon to start.

Step 2: Choose Settings and select the tab that says Personal Info.

Step 3: Head toward Advanced Settings and look for Clock Display Time . Under this heading, you’ll see a choice to show time in either 12- or 24-hour units. Select what you prefer and choose Submit .

MWC 2023 was no different in this regard. Despite Samsung and OnePlus already launching their major flagships earlier this year (the Galaxy S23 Ultra and OnePlus 11, respectively), MWC 2023 was still home to numerous smartphone announcements — many of which push the foldable industry forward in big and exciting ways. In addition to peculiar wearables, new satellite technology, and a whole lot more, MWC 2023 gave us plenty of reasons to be excited about where the mobile tech industry is headed.

After purchasing Twitter and appointing himself CEO, Elon Musk made some (what can generously be called) controversial changes to the site and its rules. He's aiming to make Twitter a place where his ideas of free speech can be allowed, which has ultimately resulted in providing “amnesty” to previously banned accounts from white supremacists, conspiracy theorists, and other people who were in violation of Twitter’s old terms of service.

Musk claimed in a tweet that Apple has “threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store” but didn’t tell him why. The Twitter CEO also claimed that Apple has “mostly stopped advertising” on the social media site, but also can’t seem to figure out why. Apparently, the world’s richest man is unable to understand why a company like Apple would want to take some cautionary steps away from the gasoline he’s pouring on Twitter.

How to change the time on a Fitbit: Switch time zone and format

Change time on Fitbit

Changing the time on your Fitbit may not be an immediately obvious need, but there are instances when you'll want to make some manual adjustments to your Fitbit smartwatch or fitness tracker.

For the most part, Fitbit devices are remarkably consistent in displaying the time – no matter if you've entered a different time zone – but that doesn't mean they're perfect.

With this quick guide, though, we'll teach you how to set the correct time on your Fitbit, no matter whether it's a Charge, Versa or Inspire.

We'll even tell you how to change the time between a 12-hour and 24-hour format – lucky you.

How to change the time on Fitbit

settings time change

Since your device is paired to your phone, which is already monitoring your location and time zone, you shouldn't have to follow these steps that often.

However, there are times – for example, when you shift quickly between different time zones when your phone is off – when Fitbit gets confused and won't be syncing the correct time across.

Solution 1: Sync to change the time

Getting the time correct time may simply be a case of syncing your Fitbit again. To do this, do the following:

1. Ensure your Fitbit is connected to an iOS or Android device.

2. Manually sync your Fitbit by pulling down on the screen on the app's dashboard.

If your Fitbit is still showing the wrong time, attempt to manually change the time by following the steps in the next section.

Solution 2: Manually change the time

1. Head to the Fitbit app and click the Account icon in the top corner. If you're on a computer, click the Settings icon in the top right corner.

2. Scroll down to App Settings and then Time Zone . If you're on the computer, simply scroll down to Settings and click.

3. If Set Automatically is turned on, try toggling it off and on again, then sync.

4. If this doesn't work, try manually setting your time zone by turning automatic time zone tracking off and choosing a city in your time zone. On a computer, scroll to the bottom of the  Personal Info page and modify your timezone.

5. Once you've made your changes, force a sync with your tracker by heading to the main app dashboard and pulling it down. To do this on a computer, click the Fitbit Connect icon and click Sync Now .

Switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format

Unfortunately, you can't do this from the Fitbit app, and will instead have to log in to the Fitbit online web dashboard.

1. Once signed in, click the Settings icon in the top right corner.

2. From here, go from Settings > Personal Info .

3. Scroll down to Clock Display Time – it's from here you'll be able to select your choice of time.

4. Click Submit and then sync your tracker.

How to change the time on a Fitbit using the Fitbit mobile app or website

Most of the time, your Fitbit should set the correct time automatically, meaning you don't need to do anything for it to properly track your activities — even in unusual situations like when clocks change for daylight saving time.

Occasionally, though, you might encounter a problem, such as if you change time zones and the Fitbit doesn't automatically update.

In a situation like that, it's easy to change the time on your device  from either the mobile app or website, and your Fitbit will display the correct time after the next sync.

Fitbit didn’t update the time or it’s wrong? How to set the time on your Fitbit

clock on Fitbit's

When you travel between time zones or when daylight saving or standard time arrives, your Fitbit is supposed to adjust your device’s time automatically. But that often does not happen.

So if you changed time zones or the time sprung forward/fell back and the time on your device is incorrect, follow the steps below to fix it!

Syncing your Fitbit almost always solves problems with the displayed time on your Fitbit.

However, if syncing automatically or manually didn’t update your device to the correct time, let’s do some manual steps.

Verify you allow the Fitbit app to background app refresh

Since your Fitbit pulls data from the Fitbit app, you want to make sure that the Fitbit app continues to refresh data, even if it’s not active and open on your phone.

Restart your device

Another tried and true method to get your Fitbit device to show the correct time is to restart it or shut down and then power it back on.

For most Fitbit smartwatches like the Versa Series or Sense and others, restart by going to Settings > About > Shutdown > Yes,  then wait 20-30 seconds before you power back on.

And for most Fitbit trackers such as the Inspire or Charge Series, go to  Settings > Restart Device > Restart, Settings > Reboot  or  Settings > About > Reboot.

Change the time zone setting manually in the Fitbit app

If you’re traveling through many different time zones in a short time, try turning off the automatic time zone option and entering the current time zone manually.

After setting it manually, sync your Fitbit with the app. Then, try turning on the automatic time zone feature again, and hopefully, it should now work and update when a timezone changes.

Change your Fitbit from the 12-hour clock to a 24-hour clock or vice-versa

Many people, especially those currently in or previously in the military, prefer using a 24-hour clock. It’s often referred to as “military time.”

The good news is that you can indeed have your Fitbit show a 24-hour clock, OR if it’s set to 24-hour and you prefer a 12-hour clock, you can change that too!

Depending on your Fitbit model, you may be able to make this change in the Fitbit app. For all Fitbits, you can change this setting from your Fitbit account’s web dashboard.

Using your Fitbit online account dashboard

Is your Fitbit’s time still not correct?

If the tips above didn’t get your Fitbit’s time to update to the correct time, try changing it to a different time zone altogether and then force a sync by tapping Sync Now.

Android Fitbit app sync now

If it updates to that timezone, change it back to your current timezone and sync your Fitbit again.

This trick usually works when all else fails!

Although your Fitbit device’s time is supposed to change automatically after traveling to a different time zone or for Daylight Savings, sometimes this doesn’t happen.

In that case, it usually takes a few manual steps, like forcing sync or updating a setting to get your Fitbit’s time to update.

If the time is still incorrect, contact Fitbit’s customer service department to assist further after these changes.

How the Clock Works on Fitbit Trackers

Fitbit clocks and daylight savings time, what to know.

This article explains how to change the time and time zone on all Fitbit smartwatch and fitness tracker models, including Versa, Alta, Charge, Ionic, Inspire, and Ace.

How to Change the Time on a Fitbit Device

All Fitbit trackers are programmed to match the time on the device to which they sync. However, if there's a glitch and your Fitbit isn't displaying the right time, ensure the time on the host device is correct, and then manually sync your Fitbit to its paired iPhone, Android , or another device.

To manually sync your Fitbit to its paired device:

Turn on the Fitbit tracker and ensure  Bluetooth  is enabled on your device.

With your Fitbit nearby, open the Fitbit Health and Fitness app on your paired device and tap  Today

Press and hold on the app screen, and then pull down on the screen. Your devices will manually sync.

If the date and time are out of sync after the Fitbit runs out of battery power, re-sync it to its host device.

How to Change Time Zones on a Fitbit Tracker

When you travel to a new time zone, your Fitbit should sync to its host device and adjust for the change. However, if something goes wrong, the new time zone may interfere with your Fitbit's data tracking. Your tracking data may record over the previous day's data, or the device may skip an entire day of tracking.

Here's how to manually change time zones on a Fitbit.

Launch the Fitbit app on your paired device and tap Today .

Tap your profile picture and select App Settings .

Select Time Zone .

Turn off  Set Automatically .

Tap Time Zone and choose the time zone you'd like your Fitbit to recognize.

If you'll be in a different time zone only for a short period, turn off Set Automatically before traveling. This will cause your Fitbit to stay in your original time zone.

Whether you're using a basic Fitbit tracker such as a Fitbit One or Fitbit Zip or have invested in a more high-end smartwatch like the Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Alta, device time is managed by syncing it with your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Your Fitbit tracker recognizes and displays the host device's date and time.

Daylight savings time is notorious for causing havoc with Fitbit trackers, as it forces them to record fitness activity for the same hour twice when the period begins and ends. There really is no way around this annoyance, and most Fitbit users accept this quirk as part of the Fitbit experience, even though it can mess up their stats slightly.

If you rely on your Fitbit tracker as a clock, have it update to daylight savings time by syncing it to your smartphone or computer as usual. All smartphones, tablets, and computers now automatically change their time for daylight savings by default.
