The condition of college is good. There is proper mess with average food and library, and big classrooms which accommodate a lot of students, its very big university with so many courses going on. There is hostel facility.

A 5.5-year undergraduate programme in ayurvedic medicine and surgery called BAMS is based on the Indian traditional medical system of Ayurveda. It covers a wide range of subjects, including contemporary anatomy, medical concepts, botany-based surgical ideas, and many more.

After completing Intermediate with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, those interested in a career in medicine can enrol in the BAMS programme. Candidates for the BAMS programme must have completed the NEET exam with a minimum qualifying cutoff percentile. Following NEET, BAMS aspirants would receive an invitation from a central counselling office to select a college based on their results.

Eligibility Criteria : -

• Candidates must have a Science stream at an Intermediate level to be eligible (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology)
• Depending on the college, they must have a minimum grade point average of between 50 and 60.
• The minimum age limit is 17 years for general categories and 20 years for Reserved category

RGUHS has been approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) and is a self-contained state university. The University is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and also Commonwealth of Universities. The University course is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi.

Candidates can apply only to private colleges if they fulfil the eligibility criteria but the fees for foreign students or SAARC countries will be different. The candidates cannot apply to government colleges.

Yes, the RGUHS offers sports facilities to its students. To promote and encourage sports and games amongst students the university conducts State Level sports and games for the students and as well as staff including men and women. The various sports and games include such as football, kabaddi, cricket, volleyball, Shuttle Badminton, Table Tennis, Basket Ball, and Throw Ball.   

In case the examiners are not pleased with the candidate's performance during the Viva-Voce examination, the candidate will be allowed to retake the test three months later. It is prohibited for a candidate to take the Viva-voce test more than twice.

As per MCI, the duration of the RGUHS PhD programme is two years for the candidates who pursue M.D / M.S /P.G. Diploma, and three years for candidates pursuing M.Sc . in medical subjects under Medical Faculty (a 3years course from a Medical College). For the PhD guide and the research department, the course duration for the full-time is three years and for part-time it is four years for all Faculty.

University of Iowa graduate student union calls for elimination of grad student fees

University of Iowa graduate student workers want to “end the fees.”

That was the call to action for more than 75 members of the graduate student union protest on Tuesday, March 5, at the Iowa City Pentacrest. The student demonstrators carried a roughly 150-foot-long scroll into the office of University of Iowa President Barbara Wilson, a document lined with demands and more than 1,000 signatures.

Union wants less fees

The graduate union is demanding the university eliminate all graduate student fees. According to the UI's online tuition and fee schedule, graduate students are currently responsible for many of the same fees as their undergraduate counterparts, including fees for the student union building, activities, services, recreation facilities, and student health.

An English major seeking a Masters of Fine Arts degree, for example, would pay around $5,600 in tuition and roughly $850 in fees per semester, according to the current schedule estimates. Non-residents in the same program pay nearly triple that.

A key difference, in the eyes of the Coalition to Organize Graduate Students union, is that graduate students are also employees of the University of Iowa.

A march to the president's office

The group of graduate students delivered the brief but symbolically long letter to President Wilson’s office, marching into Jessup Hall and packing the second-floor hallway.

The demonstrators chanted, “The university works because we do,” and threatened that a lack of response within the next two weeks would prompt workers to “Shut it down.”

International graduate students pay high fees

International students' fees mount even higher. They must pay a $2,925 Student Health Insurance Plan, an international student fee, an International Graduate Matriculation Fee, a records and documents fee, and an English proficiency evaluation fee. 

The Coalition to Organize Graduate Students estimates that under the current university contract, first-year international graduate students will pay more than 7% of their annual wages back to the university in fees.

“The University of Iowa has the resources to finance the basic maintenance and operations of campus without charging graduate students,” Cary Stough, an English PhD candidate at the UI said. “This administration squeezes some of its most vulnerable and lowest paid employees by charging them excessive fees to work.”

Workers detailed their experiences, mostly anonymously, through an online poll conducted by the Coalition to Organize Graduate Students, which was shared during the protest.

“You pay us poverty wages,” one dance Masters of Fine Arts candidate wrote. “...You squeeze us for every last cent and then you line your pockets. I do not pay you, you pay me.”
