5. a) Write about the three types of air quality standards that are prescribed by the Central Pollution Contr ol Board of India.

i) Bhopal gas tragedy

The Bhopal gas tragedy was a catastrophic industrial accident that occurred on the night of December 2-3 , 1984, in the city of Bhopal, India. It was caused by a massive release of toxic gases from the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of people and long-term health effects for hundreds of thousands more.

The gas leak occurred when water entered a storage tank containing 42 tonnes of methyl isocyanate (MI C), a highly toxic gas used in the manufacture of pesticides. The water caused a chemical reaction that resulted in the sudden release of a large amount of gas into the air. The gas, which included MIC and other toxic chemicals, spread rapidly throughout the surrounding areas, exposing thousands of people to its deadly effects.

ख) उचित उदाहरणों की सहायता से वर्णन कीजिए कि किस प्रकार वन उन्मूलन उद्योगों और वाणिज्यिक कार्यों के लिए लकड़ी की माँग के कारण होता है।

6. क) पर्याववरण संबंधी शिक्षा प्रदान करने में गैर-सरकारी संगठनों की भूमिका पर टिप्पणी लिखिए। ख) "प्रायः कानून पर्याप्त नहीं होता" उचित उदाहरणों के साथ पर्यावरण के संदर्भ में इस कथन की चर्चा कीजिए ।

7. क) भूवैज्ञानिक और त्वरित अपरदन के बीच अंतर बताइए । ख) औद्योगिक अपशिष्टों को दोबारा उपयोगी बनाने के अभ्रिक्रमण और पुनःचक्रण के दो मूल तरीकों का वर्णन कीजिए। ग) कार्सिनोमा (carcinomas) और लिम्फोमा (lymphomas) के बीच अंतर लिखिए ।

3. क) संचरणीय रोगों के संचरण के तरीकों का वर्णन कीजिए। ख) समझाइए कि भारत के लिए विकासात्मक परियोजनाएं क्यों आवश्यक है।

4. क) भारत के वन्य जीवन (संरक्षण) अधिनियम के बारे में संक्षेप में लिखिए। ख) सतत् विकास वाले समाज की किन्हीं चार अवधारणाओं का वर्णन कीजिए।
