We all have the eagerness to learn and study something new. When we do this, we obviously learn from someone who knows about it and has experience. Anyone can become a student. It does not mean only children can become a student. This is an obvious one. But even elders can become a student.

This is because studying and learning does not have any age limit or boundaries. Nowadays even elders go different classes. Some people might think but why do they have to go for classes at such an age. One should stop thinking such things.

Some elders go for classes during the later part of their life because they have the eagerness to learn something. There are maximum chances they did not get the opportunity to learn these when they were a child. They might not have had so many facilities like the children of today have. When these elders go to attend the classes among the ones who are very young in age from them, the youngsters do not treat them properly.

They tease them and call them from different names. Well, this is not appropriate anywhere. Moreover, a place where one is going to learn something, in such a place such behavior should not be allowed. The youngsters must try to understand the plight of those elders too.

Instead of making fun of them, they should help them in the class. They should not consider them someone different in the class. Even the elders are among them and like them in the class. By doing such they cannot be called as an ideal student. Ideal student is not only being good only in front of the teacher but they should have a good behavior among the people who are around them.

Who is an ideal student? How can we call a student as an ideal one? What are the criteria for a student to become an ideal student? Can only studious students be considered as an ideal student? Do the teachers only love the ideal students and not the ones who are naughty in the class? Well such questions are always running in a student’s mind. The students start asking themselves such questions during their free time.

They start to think whether they can become an ideal student some day or not. Sometimes they even compare themselves with those students who are called as an ideal one. At first, they feel jealous too. They think what does that student has which he or she does not have.

Once they start comparing themselves with others, they start to become like them. This should not happen. One should not change oneself in order to become like others. Instead they should find out what faults they themselves have. After that they should focus on their inner self rather than trying to become like someone else.

But what is the definition of an ideal student? There is not any particular definition for an ideal student. Everyone has their own opinions about an ideal student. For some people idea student is the one who is always behind the teacher, doing all the work of the teacher, being in the good books of all the teachers, being a studious student always.

But do you think only this will things will define an ideal student? No, it will not. It is more than just going behind the teacher, doing their work and being in good books. Sometimes it happens that a student has these characteristics only in their campus. Outside, they completely behave as a stranger. Whenever they see their teacher outside, they will either run away or hide themselves from them.

Then they cannot be called as an ideal student. They should respect them and maintain the same behavior with them outside as well. If one sees their teacher outside does not mean that they are not their teacher outside the campus and they can ignore them or behave rudely.

They should help them in need when they meet them outside. They should never forget to greet them. But this does not mean that they should maintain such behavior only with their teacher inside and outside the campus. They should maintain good behavior even with the people who are studying with them.

They cannot be good only with the teachers and then behave rudely with the students. This will form a wrong impression about them in front of the other students. It is important to be good among everyone who are around them, with the teachers, students and non-teaching staff. The ideal students must help them all of them in need.

An ideal student must not have only bookish knowledge. They should have an overall development. They must be all-rounder. Along with being studious, they should be good in other things as well. Otherwise people will call them with different names like book worm.

They will not have any friends. They will be sitting in one corner busy with the books. But do all these mean that an ideal student has to be perfect from all ways? Can’t they do any mistake? Yes, they can make mistakes. Moreover, any student can become an ideal student.

Even the ones from whom the teachers are fed up and call them the naughty ones; they can also become an ideal student. After one point of time even they learn from their mistakes and change their behavior. Ultimately, even the naughty students become good students too someday.

Personal experience with the concept of an ideal student

Now after I have finished my studies in school and college, my cousins still studying ask me various questions about my life in school. Today, they are studying in the school in which I studied. The teachers who taught me are still teaching in the school. So, the teachers tell them about me when they come to know they are my cousins. They exclaim to cousins saying oh, you are her sibling!

They also tell my cousins about my studies and behavior in school. My cousins are told so much about me that whenever I go back home for holidays, they started asking me questions. They ask me if I was popular in class and good in studies. Almost every student in the school knew me before I left the school. This makes me to think about myself. I ask myself was I really under the good books of the teachers and friendly among all the students? This might be because from class one to nine I was the monitor of the class every year.

Then, I became the head girl of the school. Moreover, I used to take part in Elocution competitions and singing competitions. I managed to get prizes in most of them. I also used to win in most of the class competitions. I will not say I was good at everything. But I managed to be good in all areas. I was also regular to school. Even though I was sick, I would manage to go school. I was always ready to help anyone in the school.

Related to my studies, I always had problems with Mathematics. No matter how many times I would practice the sums, nothing would go inside my head. I would always struggle for scoring in Mathematics. This was the only subject with which I had problem. But still I was in good books of all.

My cousins ask me whether I came first in class. I tell them that I did not but I always got good marks. This was more important for them. All these things about my life in school makes my cousins study properly and work hard. This makes me feel happy and proud.

Whenever I go home, they always bring their homework after school and ask me to teach them. Even when I go out and I meet my teachers I greet them and have a small conversation with them. But despite all these some of my classmates did not like me even though I was never rude to them and always helped them.

They used to talk bad things about me. They would often say that I am an ideal student just for the sake. But for them I am not one in reality. In the starting I felt bad. But when I thought about it, I stopped bothering myself about it. I did not change myself for such classmates.

This is not only for the students in school but in other studying places as well. People go to study in other places too except going to school.

But what is expected by the students going to school will be similar who go to other places to study. This can be for some particular training as well. But one should remember that no one is perfect in this world. Everyone has their own flaws and all commit mistakes. But this does not mean that they cannot be a good person.

Short Paragraph (200 words) on An Ideal Student

An ideal student is an embodiment of all the virtues. He is kind, loving, respectful and considerate to all. He rarely loses his temper. He is sweet to all and is always punctual. He never misses his school. Come what may, he is never found without his uniform

The ideal student for me is Sam. We study in the same class and in the same school. Since we are neighbours, we board the school bus from the same stop. There he wishes to the parents of other students.

As he enters the bus, he loudly says, “Good morning to all my friends”. In school, he is never found gossiping with others. Whenever, a regular teacher is on leave, he runs to the library. There he reads the works of famous authors.

In his famous play, “As You Like It,” Shakespeare presents the following picture of a schoolboy.

“The whining schoolboy, with his satchel And shining morning face, Creeping like a snail, Unwilling to school.”

Shakespeare’s picture of schoolboy

This is certainly not the picture of an ideal student. Moreover, Shakespeare was obsessed with boys, education only, as there was not much of female education even in England. He can never imagine being one of the drop-outs. He is very attentive in class and also does his homework regularly. He visits the library frequently but the canteen only for a short period when necessary.

In the classroom

An ideal student may be humorous and even if naughty, he is never so in the class. He never makes a noise in class. Nor does he ever ask foolish questions or raise trivial issues. But when the teacher says anything beyond his comprehension, he boldly stands up and requests the teacher to clarify his point. For this, and for his excellence in studies and other fields, he is always in the good books of his teachers. He does not feel humiliated or frustrated at the time of some failure. It is because he believes that the ultimate aim of man should be to serve humanity without being noticed by anyone. So, he does not believe in fame but tries to serve his brethren in pure and simple terms in a selfless way.

Service to mankind – his aim

An ideal student arranges blood donation camps and eye donation camps. He takes part in such national programming as pulse polio drops for children below five years and vaccination. He can also make it a routine to visit a hospital and serve the sick for an hour every Sunday.

Studies, sports, co-curricular activities, etc.

An ideal student takes part in cultural programmes being held in his school. He also takes part in some sports.

Helping the weak students

An ideal student helps the weak students. If he is a brilliant student, he may teach the weak students free of cost.

In conclusion, we can say that an ideal student is one of the most striking stars in the galaxy of the student community. Such a student respects his elders and teachers and hence becomes the apple of everybody’s eyes.

The very word: “Student” denotes a person fond of studies. But ‘studies’ do not mean just bookish knowledge, but real knowledge of men, society, nature, mind, etc. Such variegated knowledge can be obtained only by a person of strong mind and will, good heart, and sound health. So, the very connotation of being an ideal student is one’s keen interest in developing an all-round personality.

By going into detail, we can say that an ideal student has a thirst for knowledge. He has the curiosity to learn and understand new and new things about man and nature. He has a regular routine for doing everything. Thus he is regular and punctual. He gets up early in the morning, takes regular exercise, has his bath, and goes to his school and college in time. He devotes his time to studies whole-heartedly and is in the good books of his teachers whom he respects sincerely, as he respects his parents. He helps the weak students in their students and never makes fun of them. If others outdo him, he accepts their superiority with humility. He may have a healthy competition with them, but he is never jealous of them. Similarly, he plays one or the other game, but with a sportsman’s spirit.

An ideal student is very particular about his character and manners. He is truthful, honest, and frank. He does not find fault with others but tries to get rid of his own drawbacks if any. He has no evil habits like drinking, smoking, gambling, etc. He is a great patriot and is ready to die for his country. He knows that by making himself strong in body and mind, he is also serving the national cause, because, as Emerson says,

“Not gold but only men can make A nation great and strong.”

An ideal student is very studious. He knows that an idle man’s brain is the devil’s workshop. He does the right thing at the right time. He believes in his own sincere effort. He does not believe in underhand methods. For instance, copying in the examination can never be his motto. He is not only a voracious reader and a good player but also a good speaker and writer. He believes in bringing constant efficiency to his work. He has a positive and optimistic attitude towards life. Failures do not depress him, nor do successes turn his head. He has a balanced mind and personality.

Essay on Ideal Student

An ideal student is one who studies dedicatedly, behaves sincerely in school and at home and also takes part in co-curricular activities. Every parent wants his child to become an ideal student who serves as a role model for others.

Ideal students are welcomed everywhere – in schools, at coaching centres and in sports academies. These students carry out all the tasks assigned to them with accuracy. They like to be on the top and work hard to achieve that position. Here are various essays on Ideal Student to help you with the topic. You can select any ideal student essay according to your need:

Long and Short Essay on Ideal Student in English

Ideal student essay – 1 (200 words).

An ideal student is good in academics, takes part in extra-curricular activities, well-behaved and well-groomed. He is somebody everyone wishes to be like and wants to be friends with. Teachers are also fond of such students and they are appreciated wherever they go.

However, an ideal student is also somebody whom every other student secretly envies. So while everyone wants to sit with or be friends with such a student many do not wish well for them as they are jealous of them. Nevertheless, this does not or should not dither the spirit of an ideal student as he is to achieve higher things in life.

Now, an ideal student is not necessarily somebody who is perfect and fetches full marks in every test or wins medals in every sports activity he participates in. He is one who is disciplined and has a vision in life. He is somebody who works hard with complete determination and possesses a true sportsman spirit. He is not the one who never fails but one who doesn’t give up on failing. He tries again and again until he succeeds. He is keen on learning new things. He is determined to taste success and does whatever it takes to achieve the same.

Ideal Student Essay – 2 (300 words)

An ideal student is one whom every other student looks up to. He is applauded for the way he carries out all his tasks be it in the classroom or the playground. He is a favourite among the teachers and is entrusted with various duties in school. Every teacher wants his class to be filled with such students.

Parent’s and Teacher’s Role in Shaping an Ideal Student

Every parent wants his child to outshine others in his class and be an ideal student. Many students want to fulfil the expectations of their parents but lack the determination and many other factors that make for an ideal student. While some try and fail, others fail to try in the first place. But should the students alone be blamed for this failure? No! Parents must understand that they play a significant role in shaping their child’s overall personality and attitude towards life. It is their duty to help their children understand the importance of doing well in school.

Now, many parents show their children the bigger picture and tell them as to how fetching good grades and working hard during the school days would help them as they get on with their professional and personal life later. However, most of them do not teach their children as how to stay determined and motivated to work hard and achieve the set goals. Parents must work together with the children to help them do well in school.

Teachers also play an equally important role in shaping up their students’ personality. They need to look for ways to impact them positively and encourage them at every step.

Nobody is born perfect or ideal. It takes time to inculcate habits that make a student ideal. Both the parents and teachers need to put in efforts to bring out the hidden potential in a child.

Ideal Student Essay – 3 (400 words)

An ideal student is the one who is good in academics as well as in co-curricular activities. While every parent wants his child to do well in school only a few are able to fulfil these expectations. Parent’s role should not only be to lecture their children and set high expectations from them but also to help them fulfil those expectations by nurturing and guiding them properly.

Characteristics of an Ideal Student

Here are some of the key characteristics of an ideal student:

  • Hard Worker

An ideal student sets goals and works extremely hard to achieve them. He wants to do best in studies, sports as well as other activities and doesn’t hesitate to put in his best effort to achieve the same.

An ideal student does not give up even when the times get tough. He stays determined to achieve the set goals and works continually to achieve the same.

  • Problem Solver

Many students are seen giving excuses for various things including reaching late to the school/ coaching centre, not completing their homework, not doing well in the exam and so on. However, an ideal student is one who looks for solutions to such problems rather than coming up with excuses.

  • Trust Worthy

An ideal student is trustworthy. Teachers often assign them different duties which they carry out without fail.

An ideal student will always be seen donning a positive outlook. Even if the syllabus is vast, even if the teacher schedules a test without giving much time to study, even if there is a sudden call for some competitive activity. An ideal student remains positive in every situation and takes on the challenge with a smile.

  • Curious To Learn

An ideal student is curious to learn new things. He does not hesitate asking questions in the class. An ideal student also goes out of his way to read books and surf the internet to widen his knowledge about different things.

  • Takes Initiatives

An ideal student is also ready to take initiatives. This is a great way to learn, understand and enhance one’s knowledge and ability.

It takes a good amount of determination to become an ideal student. However, the effort is worth it. If a child develops the aforementioned characteristics from an early age he would certainly be able to achieve a lot as he grows up and takes on bigger challenges in life.

Ideal Students Essay – 4 (500 words)

Everyone aspires to be an ideal student however only a few are able to become one. It takes a good amount of effort to achieve that kind of excellence. However, once you achieve it, you are unstoppable. Being good at everything then becomes a habit and you do not want to settle for anything less.

How to Become an Ideal Student?

Here are a few techniques that should help you become an ideal student:

  • Get Organized

The first thing you must do if you aspire to be an ideal student is to get organized. De-clutter your room, cupboard, study table and everything around to bring in positive energy. Chaotic surroundings only lead to a chaotic mind.

  • Schedule Things

Begin by waking up and sleeping on the same time each day. Also prepare a schedule to accommodate your studies as well as other activities. Stick to the schedule you prepare to make the most of your time.

  • Prepare To Do Lists

It is a good habit to prepare daily to-do lists. Prepare a list of things you need to accomplish during the day every morning. Prioritize the tasks and time them. Having a list at hand helps in better time management. Keep checking the tasks as you complete them. This gives a feeling of accomplishment and keeps you motivated.

  • Take Initiatives

Do not hesitate to take initiatives in school as well as elsewhere. Take up new projects to test your calibre and understand where your interest actually lies. This way you will not only learn about various new things but also understand your ability to perform them.

  • Learn Something New

Inculcate the habit to read, watch informational videos and other such content. This is a good way to learn new things, understand different perspectives and enhance your overall knowledge and ability.

  • Keep Good Company

It is said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. So if you want to be an ideal student then choose to be friends with those who are serious about their studies and are driven to perform rather than those who take their life casually.

  • Follow a Healthy Lifestyle

Following a healthy lifestyle is of utmost importance. It includes taking care of three aspects shared below:

  • Eat Healthy

It is essential to take a proper diet that includes all the required nutrients to keep healthy. You will be able to perform well only when you are physically and mentally fit.

  • Take Adequate Sleep

It is essential to complete 8 hours of sleep each day. You must not compromise on your sleep in any case as it leaves you lethargic and hampers productivity. Oversleeping can also cause similar effect. So you must avoid that as well.

A student’s life is quite busy especially as he enters higher classes. However, it is essential to squeeze in half an hour to one hour to indulge in physical exercise. You can choose any exercise of your choice. It may be running, jogging, cycling, swimming, yoga, dancing or anything that interests you.

Parents must understand that their child cannot attain excellence on his own. He needs their support. They must thus be open to help him at various steps rather than merely setting high expectations.

Ideal Student Essay – 5 (600 words)

Ideal students are not born ideal or perfect. They are nurtured to become ideal by their parents and teachers. The environment at home has a great impact on the way a student performs in school. Teachers also play a significant role in the same. However, the parents and teachers can only guide a student and it ultimately depends on how driven he himself is.

What makes a Student Ideal?

Here are a few things that make a student ideal:

  • These students pay attention in the class and try to grasp as much as they can in their classroom sessions.
  • They do not hesitate asking questions in the class to clarify their doubts.
  • They make sure they study all that is done in the class each day as they go home.
  • They keep things organized.
  • They do not only try to do well academically but also take part in other activities such as sports, debate competitions, art and craft activities and more.
  • They take initiatives and give their best shot. They do not give up on opportunities because of the fear of failure.
  • They do not give up even if they face failure. They try to do things again until they finally achieve the desired result.

Ideal Students are Favourite in School

Ideal students are the ones who are good at almost everything in the school. They emanate positive energy. Everyone in their class wants to be their friends. Having an ideal student as a best friend makes a good impression on the teachers as well as other students. If your friend is good in studies you also get help in studies. His notes are always readily available for you. He also motivates you to study with devotion and take part in extra-curricular activities such as sports, music, dance, etc. A person’s company has a huge impact on him especially during the growing years. Those who keep company of good/ ideal students are bound to inculcate good habits.

Ideal students are also a favourite among the teachers. Teachers give their example to others in the class and ask them to learn their good habits. Teachers entrust these students with various other tasks such as preparation of projects, distribution of books/ notebooks and monitoring of class in their absence. Every teacher wants her class to have ideal students.

Being an Ideal Student Helps Later in Life

It is said that, you are what you repeatedly do. Excellence then becomes a way of life. An ideal student is organized. He keeps his room, school bag, books and other stuff in an organized manner so that he doesn’t have to waste time looking for things when need be. He knows where exactly to look for his stuff. Being organized does not only mean keeping things intact but also means the ability to prioritize and organize your tasks in an efficient manner so as to complete them on time. This becomes a habit and even as such a student grows up he remains organized. Those who are organized can manage both personal and professional life efficiently.

An ideal student knows how to strike a balance between different activities and as he grows into a professional it becomes easier for him to maintain a work-life balance. He is also quite hard working and determined and this helps a great deal later in life.

The life of an ideal student may seem tough from a distance. However, it is actually much more sorted as compared to those who procrastinate and do not give complete attention to their studies and other tasks. Ideal students are go getters. They aim high and work hard to achieve the set goals.

For some reason, when you’re asked to recount an important experience from your life, it is common to forget everything that has ever happened to you. It’s a long-form version of the anxiety that takes hold at a corporate retreat when you’re invited to say “one interesting thing about yourself,” and you suddenly believe that you are the most boring person in the entire world. Once during a version of this icebreaker, a man volunteered that he had only one kidney, and I remember feeling incredibly jealous of him.

I tried to jog this student’s memory. What about his love of music? Or his experience learning English? Or that time on a summer camping trip when he and his friends had nearly drowned? “I don’t know,” he said with a sigh. “That all seems kind of cliché.”

Applying to college has always been about standing out. When I teach college essay workshops and coach applicants one on one, I see my role as helping students to capture their voice and their way of processing the world, things that are, by definition, unique to each individual. Still, many of my students (and their parents) worry that as getting into college becomes increasingly competitive, this won’t be enough to set them apart.

Their anxiety is understandable. On Thursday, in a tradition known as “Ivy Day,” all eight Ivy League schools released their regular admission decisions. Top colleges often issue statements about how impressive (and competitive) their applicant pools were this cycle. The intention is to flatter accepted students and assuage rejected ones, but for those who have not yet applied to college, these statements reinforce the fear that there is an ever-expanding cohort of applicants with straight A’s and perfect SATs and harrowing camping trip stories all competing with one another for a vanishingly small number of spots.

This scarcity has led to a boom in the college consulting industry, now estimated to be a $2.9 billion business. In recent years, many of these advisers and companies have begun to promote the idea of personal branding — a way for teenagers to distinguish themselves by becoming as clear and memorable as a good tagline.

While this approach often leads to a strong application, students who brand themselves too early or too definitively risk missing out on the kind of exploration that will prepare them for adult life.

Like a corporate brand, the personal brand is meant to distill everything you stand for (honesty, integrity, high quality, low prices) into a cohesive identity that can be grasped at a glance. On its website, a college prep and advising company called Dallas Admissions explains the benefits of branding this way: “Each person is complex, yet admissions officers only have a small amount of time to spend learning about each prospective student. The smart student boils down key aspects of himself or herself into their personal ‘brand’ and sells that to the college admissions officer.”

Identifying the key aspects of yourself may seem like a lifelong project, but unfortunately, college applicants don’t have that kind of time. Online, there are dozens of lesson plans and seminars promising to walk students through the process of branding themselves in five to 10 easy steps. The majority begin with questions I would have found panic-inducing as a teenager, such as, “What is the story you want people to tell about you when you’re not in the room?”

Where I hoped others would describe me as “normal” or, in my wildest dreams, “cool,” today’s teenagers are expected to leave this exercise with labels like, Committed Athlete and Compassionate Leader or Environmentally Conscious Musician. Once students have a draft of their ideal self, they’re offered instructions for manifesting it (or at least, the appearance of it) in person and online. These range from common-sense tips (not posting illegal activity on social media) to more drastic recommendations (getting different friends).

It’s not just that these courses cut corners on self-discovery; it’s that they get the process backward. A personal brand is effective only if you can support it with action, so instead of finding their passion and values through experience, students are encouraged to select a passion as early as possible and then rack up the experience to substantiate it. Many college consultants suggest beginning to align your activities with your college ambitions by ninth grade, while the National Institute of Certified College Planners recommends students “talk with parents, guardians, and/or an academic adviser to create a clear plan for your education and career-related goals” in junior high.

The idea of a group of middle schoolers soberly mapping out their careers is both comical and depressing, but when I read student essays today, I can see that this advice is getting through. Over the past few years, I have been struck by how many high school seniors already have defined career goals as well as a C.V. of relevant extracurriculars to go with them. This widens the gap between wealthy students and those who lack the resources to secure a fancy research gig or start their own small business. (A shocking number of college applicants claim to have started a small business.) It also puts pressure on all students to define themselves at a moment when they are anxious to fit in and yet changing all the time.

In the world of branding, a word that appears again and again is “consistency.” If you are Charmin, that makes sense. People opening a roll of toilet paper do not want to be surprised. If you are a teenage human being, however, that is an unreasonable expectation. Changing one’s interests, opinions and presentation is a natural part of adolescence and an instructive one. I find that my students with scattershot résumés are often the most confident. They’re not afraid to push back against suggestions that ring false and will insist on revising their essay until it actually “feels like me.” On the other hand, many of my most accomplished students are so quick to accept feedback that I am wary of offering it, lest I become one more adult trying to shape them into an admission-worthy ideal.

I understand that for parents, prioritizing exploration can feel like a risky bet. Self-insight is hard to quantify and to communicate in a college application. When it comes to building a life, however, this kind of knowledge has more value than any accolade, and it cannot be generated through a brainstorming exercise in a six-step personal branding course online. To equip kids for the world, we need to provide them not just with opportunities for achievement, but with opportunities to fail, to learn, to wander and to change their minds.

In some ways, the college essay is a microcosm of modern adolescence. Depending on how you look at it, it’s either a forum for self-discovery or a high-stakes test you need to ace. I try to assure my students that it is the former. I tell them that it’s a chance to take stock of everything you’ve experienced and learned over the past 18 years and everything you have to offer as a result.

That can be a profound process. But to embark on it, students have to believe that colleges really want to see the person behind the brand. And they have to have the chance to know who that person is.
