NEW SCHEDULE: Sept 2020 LET Exam (Licensure Exam for Teachers)

July 25, 2020

Pinoy Money Talk

Are you supposed to take the Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET) this September 2020, although you were originally scheduled to take it last March 2020? There are important updates that you need to know regarding the LET so check out the announcements below to find out whether it will still be conducted this year or moved to next year 2021.

UPDATE (July 2020): The Professional Regulation Commission has announced that the Licensure Exam for Professional Teachers (LEPT) — originally scheduled in March 2020 but postponed to September 27, 2020 — is NOW POSTPONED AGAIN because of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the PRC, the board exam for Professional Teachers will no longer be conducted this year 2020.

LET Exam for Teachers in September 2020 is postponed to 2021

When is the new schedule of the 2020 LET Exam? The LET will be held next year — in 2021 — likely in March 2021 since the 1st batch of examinees usually take the board exam in March. The final schedule, however, could still change as this will be dependent on the situation of the Philippines as we continue to face the coronavirus public health crisis.

What about LET Exam takers who will graduate in 2021, when will they take the board exam? The PRC has not yet issued an official announcement, but what will likely happen is that LET takers who were supposed to take the exam last March 2020 or September 2020 will be prioritized to take the LET in 2021. Education teachers who graduated in 2020 and scheduled to take the LET Exam in 2021 will only be accommodated if the PRC will allow them to take the exam in 2021 together with LET examinees from March 2020 or September 2020.

How to Pass the LET Exam in just 1 Take!

Are you ready to become a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT)?

Don’t worry if you’re feeling afraid or nervous. This is a normal feeling when taking any exam, especially a board exam that can be a major milestone in your life. For most examinees, the LET is certainly stressful and terrifying. But with adequate preparation, the rewards for passing can be enormous and life-changing.

Why is it that some people seem to have a good way of balancing life and studies? They may appear to be natural geniuses and gifted people but then again, they probably have just developed effective study habits. With the right attitude and some useful tips, you too can ace the LET.

Below we prepared for you helpful tips to pass the LET in just one take! These were taken from examinees who successfully passed the board exam and are now LPTs!

The first three (3) tips are from Mr. Josephus Anthony Bumaat who talked about his experiences in a video he posted on YouTube. Did you know that Josephus was a 4th placer in the LET in 2012? Josephus is also a second courser who took the LET in September 2012 and passed with flying colors. He surely can give you inspiration with his useful tips below.

Tips to pass the LET exam in the Philippines

Tip #1: Do not let fear paralyze you.

“There will be easy, average, and difficult questions in the LET, but you must not be scared to take them on,” according to Teacher Bumaat. “You’ve studied well for the LET so trust yourself that you can do it!”

Should you start to feel fear and panic, simply take long, deep breaths, meditate, or pray to calm the mind. Count slowly from 1 to 100 or until you feel you confident and rejuvenated. Have faith that your efforts will be rewarded. On the actual day of the exam, don’t doubt yourself because you have prepared well.

Tip #2: Ask for divine help.

Should you encounter difficult questions during the exam, teacher Bumaat has this advice:”Just pray and ask for divine guidance.”

While it is natural that majority of examinees will pray for easy questions only, the better prayer would be for you to be given strength to answer the easy, average, and difficult questions of the LET exam. When in difficulty, you can always bow down and ask for help from the higher being or say a little prayer that would clear your mind.

Meditate and talk to God so that you may be your best self during the exam day. As the cliché goes – Do your best and God will do the rest.

Tip #3: Believe that failure is not an option.

Either you pass or you top, failure is not an option. This final message is a reminder for you to keep going, since you’ve already exerted a lot of effort and success is just a few steps away.

So just keep going, whether you are facing tough or difficult questions during the exam. Even if you keep making mistakes answering sample exams, take note and be reminded of your other past achievements. Feel good about them and use them to fuel your review until you can increase your score.

Even in the unfortunate case that you wouldn’t make it, don’t give up. Review some more, take the exam again, and you’ll soon be a LET passer. It may not be your time now, but your time to shine will come!

The succeeding tips below are from previous LET exam passers sharing their stories, experiences, and advice. Hope you adopt these to pass the LET in just one take!

Tip #4: Focus on studying the subjects with highest weights.

Exam weights are there to guide you on what will be tested heavily in the exam. If you are pressed for time, decide to allocate more effort in studying the subjects with higher weights.

Of course, this does not mean that you should totally disregard sections with less weights. That may actually result in failure. What we suggest is that if you have limited time, focus your efforts on subjects that have higher weights over those with lower weights to increase your chances of passing. After all, time is a finite resource that must be used smartly to get the most out of it.

Also if you already know that you are particularly strong in certain subjects, allocate less time in studying them. Shift focus to subjects that are your weaknesses to score more points. Try to devote more time in your problematic areas to increase your chances of passing but don’t be overconfident in your strong subjects at the same time. Take time to review them too and make sure that you really know the subject matter by heart.

Tip #5: Commit to a regular study time.

It is best to set a consistent time schedule to review for the LET exam. Studying for the LET must turn into a habit. Setting a regular and consistent time schedule every day and every week will help keep a disciplined approach to studying. Make sure you allot a certain number of hours to study and have the discipline to stick to this plan.

Avoid distractions when reviewing. Letting yourself get distracted means you will accomplish less in the set study time or end up extending the study time. To avoid distractions, make sure you bring only what you need in your place of study. Leave behind anything that is not needed. You have all the time in the world to go back to the usual distractions once you have successfully passed LET.

Time is very precious at the moment, so make a simple sacrifice for now so you’ll reap the rewards and enjoy the fruits of this sacrifice later on.

Tip #6: Organize your review materials.

Being organized will save you precious time that you can utilize. It is advisable that you keep all your study materials — books, notes, reviewers, sample exams, etc. — in one place to avoid wasting time looking for them. This will also keep stress levels down by avoiding stress trying to find lost items. Make sure you know exactly where the materials are, whether they be soft copies or hard copies, to avoid unnecessary panic trying to find them when needed.

Tip #7: Use memory notes or mnemonic devices.

The sheer volume of information that you must be able to memorize is certainly daunting! Therefore, it is very useful to take down concepts that you find difficult to remember and put them in small notes.

Carry these notes anywhere and read them! When you have time — for example when riding a jeepney, waiting for the bus, or lined up anywhere — just bring out your notes and start reading. This will surely help you remember information easily.

Use mnemonic or memory devices to aid in your review and to help improve your ability to remember concepts.

For example, in Physical Science, to remember the order of planets (excluding Pluto) from the closest to the farthest to the sun, use the mnemonic device M-VEM-J-SUN (pronounced: em-vem-jay-sun) representing Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.

In Biological Science, to remember the sequence in the levels of taxonomy, use the mnemonic device, Dear King Phillip Come Over For Good Soup , with the first letter representing the name of each level of classification: Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.

Tip #8: Answer sample exams whenever available.

It is advisable to master the subject matter not by simply reading notes or books but by taking sample exams whenever available. This allows you to test your readiness and preparation.

When you feel that you have adequately studied a topic, proceed to answering sample exams to check comprehension. As they say, practice makes perfect. Even if you did not get the correct answer the first time, keep doing practice tests so you will eventually get the right answers. Don’t just read and memorize; answer reviewers and sample exams to familiarize yourself with the LET exam.

Tip #9: Prepare everything you need the night before the exam.

Ensure that you have all the writing tools ready and everything you will need during the exam all set on the day before the LET. Have them all ready before you sleep so you will only need to pick them up in the morning when you leave to go to the exam venue.

Rest well. Make sure you get adequate sleep the night before the exam. Give your body a chance to recover from the stress of reviewing and studying for LET. Do not anymore review or cram information one day before the exam. Ensure enough rest so that your brain will be at its optimal condition during the actual exam day.

Also, eat properly on exam date. Very few people perform at their best when hungry. So make sure you’re adequately nourished when taking the LET exam. Avoid overeating, though, as most people feel sleepy on a very full stomach.

Eat just the right amount of nutritious food for breakfast — cereals, bread, fruits, nuts, etc. — and avoid anything that can potentially upset your stomach.  You don’t want to waste time going in and out of the bathroom while taking the LET, do you? Eat healthy, rest well, and your body and brain will thank you for it!

Tip #10: Make sure you surround yourself with positive people.

Taking a challenging exam such as the LET becomes more challenging if people around you are not supportive. Make sure you surround yourself with positivity, including people who can provide you positive moral support.

If there are distractions or negativity, temporarily move away from them so you can focus on studying. If you can, try to find like-minded people or meet with other LET examinees so you can share experiences and tips regarding LET review. Leave the negativity behind.

We know that you can conquer the LET exam. Success is just a few months away. Good luck, soon-to-be LPT!

PRC Room Assignment: LET Elementary & Secondary (March 2021)

(UPDATE): The official room assignments for those taking the LET Board Exam will be released soon! Scroll below to see which exam venues already include the note “Now Available!”. This means room assignments for these venues are ready for viewing. If the PDF file is not yet displayed, the PRC is still finalizing the room assignment but it will be uploaded very soon. Kindly refresh the page or visit this page again later to see if the update has been posted.

If you see a “Now Available!” note beside the exam venue, it means the PRC already released the list for that province or city and you may now view the room assignment. If it is not yet available, the PRC is still finalizing the school and classroom details. We will update this post once the official Room Assignments are released.

Here are additional useful tips we suggest you follow before the exam.

1. You’ll notice that even in just one school, several buildings and classrooms will be used as testing centers. To make sure that you proceed to the correct location, write down and take note of the exact Building, Classroom, Room or Group Number, and Seat Number assigned to you.

2. Before the day of the board exam, find out the address of the school or venue where you’ll be taking the exam. Research the actual location using Google Maps or a guide map to determine how to get there.

3. Better yet, try visiting the venue a few days before the board exam! Doing so will help you discover the best transportation or routes to take. If you simulate going to the venue beforehand, you’ll also have an idea how long it will take you to reach the exam center from your place. This allows you to change your transportation plans, if needed.

4. On the day of the exam, don’t be late! According to the PRC, examinees who will be late will NOT BE ALLOWED to take the board exam. We suggest you arrive at the exam venue at least one (1) hour before the start of the exam . This gives you enough time to locate the building, classroom, and seat number assigned to you.

What happens if you did not show up or weren’t able to take the boards? The answer is in this article: I registered but I did not take the board exam .

Keep in my mind that your efforts may not be enough. Guidance must be sought and the load shared. Doing this,  you can find strength to carry on and to succeed in your goals and endeavors.

We’re sharing with you below a beautiful and inspiring prayer submitted by a grateful LET passer who is now a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT). We hope this could guide you in your everyday preparation to help you soon become LPT too!

“Father of Light and Wisdom, thank you for gifting me with a mind that can know and a heart that can love.

Help me be inspired to learn every day of my life whatever the subject may be. Let me understand that all knowledge leads to you and show me how to find and love you in all the things that you have made.

Encourage me when the studies are difficult and when I am tempted to give up. Enlighten me when my brain is slow and motivate me to keep up.

Grant me the wisdom and discernment to pass this test So I can put my knowledge to good use in bringing the kingdom of God in heaven here on earth.

Amen.”

Apartment living rooms tend not to be stand-alone spaces and often they have to double up as other rooms too – a dining room, a home office, a second bedroom when needs must. We work those spaces hard.

So before all else they need to be functional, but that doesn't mean they can't look stylish too. We've rounded up all our favorite on-trend living room ideas to prove just what can be done with an apartment living space so you can be inspired to give yours a refresh...

1. Zone your apartment living room with paint and pattern

If your space is limited, a room divider might not be an option without crowding the living room even more. One clever space-saving hack is to use your color on your walls to segregate areas.

My Bepoke Room's Head of Interior Design, Lucy Henderson and Lick's Lead Color Specialist, Tash Bradley explain, 'A lick of paint can make all the difference. There are multiple different approaches you can take when designing a studio apartment. We recommend zoning your room with different patterns, prints and colors.'

For example, bright lighting will be needed in the kitchen but the living room can have a more cozy and ambient lighting scheme.'

<p> Jodie Hatton, Design Manager at Brintons explains, 'Similar to how dark walls can transform a small room or a patterned wallpaper can bring interest to an otherwise dull space, a patterned carpet is an inspired way to make a feature in an apartment adding interest and character. However it is important to choose the right patterned carpet depending on the size of the room.' </p> <p> 'Rugs create a feeling of warmth, depth and textural emphasis when laid over carpeting, wooden floorboards, or ceramic floor tiles. It’s an opportunity to introduce a bold color or pattern to your space. The unexpected shape of the rug will give an artistic aesthetic to the room.' </p>

2. Add a patterned carpet or rug

Jodie Hatton, Design Manager at Brintons explains, 'Similar to how dark walls can transform a small room or a patterned wallpaper can bring interest to an otherwise dull space, a patterned carpet is an inspired way to make a feature in an apartment adding interest and character. <p> You can't go wrong with multi purpose furniture. The most obvious is to invest in the best sofa bed you can buy that'll be a statement piece in your living room and convert to a comfy bed for guests to come to stay. Another living room storage idea would be multi tasking built in storage.                    </p> <p> 'Built-in storage is always a massive help but it either comes with the apartment or you have to spend a fair amount of money building it. However, you can solve this by purchasing multi-purpose furniture,' explains Bradley. </p>

3. Choose multi purpose furniture

<p> When it comes to configuring the layout of an apartment living room it can be a bit of a tricky task, especially if you are working with an open-plan space or a room that has to double up as something else. But there are plenty of living room layout ideas to make the most of your space that are way more interesting than just pushing everything up against walls. </p> <p> We would actually start by drawing up a plan of your space and then deciding on what furniture you can actually fit in the space, then start planning its location. Remember it's okay to float your furniture, it can actually make the space feel bigger than if you just go for the layout that shows the most floor.                    </p>

4. Think about your apartment living room layout

When it comes to configuring the layout of an apartment living room it can be a bit of a tricky task, especially if you are working with an open-plan space or a room that has to double up as something else. But there are plenty of living room layout ideas to make the most of your space that are way more interesting than just pushing everything up against walls.

We would actually start by drawing up a plan of your space and then deciding on what furniture you can actually fit in the space, then start planning its location. Remember it's okay to float your furniture, it can actually make the space feel bigger than if you just go for the layout that shows the most floor.

<p> Often in an apartment, you have no choice but to make your living room multipurpose, but embrace that, and rather than see it as you have a one-room apartment see it as an open-plan space. </p> <p> Carve out space to create a little dining area that can double up as a workspace too. If you have the room add in screens in the form of curtains or furniture to make the living space feel like it's made up of different zones.                    </p>

5. Make your room multi-purpose

Often in an apartment, you have no choice but to make your living room multipurpose, but embrace that, and rather than see it as you have a one-room apartment see it as an open-plan space.

Carve out space to create a little dining area that can double up as a workspace too. If you have the room add in screens in the form of curtains or furniture to make the living space feel like it's made up of different zones.

<p> In an open-plan apartment or a studio, it can be tricky to decide on the best sofa. You don't want it to look like it's just floating in the middle of the room. Opting for a larger sectional sofa (even if your space isn't massive) can solve that problem, acting as both a sofa and a 'wall' between your living room and the rest of the space. We love that this one is double-sided, adding a sofa to both the living room and the dining room. </p> <p> P.S. even if your space isn't as big as this living room, don't be afraid of choosing a large corner sofa. Let it hug the walls of your room and create a cozy, inviting ambiance, plus plenty of seating. </p>

6. Separate your space with a sectional

In an open-plan apartment or a studio, it can be tricky to decide on the best sofa.

P.S. even if your space isn't as big as this living room, don't be afraid of choosing a large corner sofa. Let it hug the walls of your room and create a cozy, inviting ambiance, plus plenty of seating.

<p> When your floor space is at a premium but you need to add storage to your apartment living room, open shelving is the way to go. </p> <p> 'We suggest you use all the available space you have, including your walls. You can use shelves, but also use your walls to store your dining chairs for easy access and to not clutter your floor space,' explain Henderson and Bradley.                    </p> <p> Peter Erlandsson, Co-Owner of String Furniture agrees, 'In a small room, it’s great to be able to change the design once in a while. Sleek wall shelving provides you with plenty of flexibility both practically and aesthetically, meaning you can achieve a completely new look whenever you like. There is an age old doctrine of using light colors on walls to make your home look bigger. This is true, and your shelves need not detract from this.' You can invest in this String System in ash at Utility Design.                    </p> <p> Opt for something slimline in the same color as the wall it's going to sit on, so you can maximize the storage space and so your shelving idea doesn't dominate the room too much. </p>

7. Opt for wall storage to save on space

When your floor space is at a premium but you need to add storage to your apartment living room, open shelving is the way to go.

'We suggest you use all the available space you have, including your walls. You can use shelves, but also use your walls to store your dining chairs for easy access and to not clutter your floor space,' explain Henderson and Bradley.

Peter Erlandsson, Co-Owner of String Furniture agrees, 'In a small room, it’s great to be able to change the design once in a while.

<p> If you aren't willing to part with your white living room, sometimes all that's needed to break up that sea of blank space is a single piece of artwork. And it needn't be super bold or colorful either, just go big and position it somewhere it's going to be the focus – above a fireplace or over the sofa would work best, an area of the room the eye is immediately drawn to.                    </p> <p> Farah Marhi, style expert at Designer Looks Furniture, says: 'Specifically for wall art, I am a huge fan of glitz and glam and love mixing and matching different pieces! My personal favorite is using a mix and match of neutral colors with gold and silver accents.'                    </p>

8. Embrace an all white color scheme

If you are renting, chances are you have inherited a sea of white walls, so why not embrace them and go for an all-white living room idea. Even if you aren't at the mercy of a landlord's tastes, white is a classic that creates a very serene, calming vibe, plus it's really versatile so you switch up your decor as your styles change without having to paint all your walls.

Pair your white walls with a sofa in a similar hue, and pile up the white pillows and blanks too. Choose white window treatments too to maximize the natural light in your apartment. Add a touch of contrast in the form of prints and houseplants.

<p> We love the whole vibe of this Copenhagen apartment. By mixing so many different styles and textures this room is so unique and full of personality. Recreate that in your living room by picking out furniture that means something to you (even if you think it won't go, that's part of the look).                    </p> <p> Start collecting objects and decor that feel personal to your style and layer them up with new pieces to create a very eclectic cozy space, that still has a stylish, contemporary feel.                    </p>

9. Mix and match style for an eclectic vibe

<p> Or if you like a more contemporary look and like for your room to have some structure, pick furniture and decor that have a linear look to them.                    </p> <p> And by that, we mean clear lines, so a modern coffee table with a metal frame, a straight-backed sofa with square arms, even simple prints in black frames will add to the very clean vibe. You can add in some softness with cushions, rugs and blankets in you still want the soft to have a comfy feel. </p>

How can I decorate my apartment living room on a budget?

The best way to decorate an apartment living room on a budget is to shop second-hand. Not only is this going to save you money it's going to add a ton of personality to your space that you won't get if you just fill it with a load of cheap flat-pack furniture.

Also, get DIYing, a lick of paint can make all the difference to a space, or pull up carpets (if allowed) and see if you have anything beautiful underneath, make your own throw pillow out of vintage fabrics. Just think; can I make that/restyle my current space to get that look, before you go spending any money.

<p> The best layout for an apartment living room very much depends on the size and shape of your space and what you need to use it for. It is solely a lounge? Or does it have to become a dining room or a home office when you need it to? This will obviously dictate the layout, but the best place to start is by drawing up a plan of your living room and trying out different layouts. </p> <p> Our top tip is to always give your living room furniture some room to breathe, don't have every piece in your room stuck up against a wall. And be creative with your layout too, don't just pick a focal point and angle everything towards that. </p>

PRC NCR, my application to take LET is supposed to be for March 2020 exam. My name is not yet included in the list to take this coming March 27, 2022. Ibig po sabihin nasa last batch pa po ako matatake. Bakit po ganun, hindi ba dapat kung sino po naunang application na narecieve nyo yon din dapat mauuna magtake. Napakaunfair naman po ninyo sa mga applicants. Regardless po kc first timer man yan or ilang beses na magtry magtake. What matters is when did you receive the application. Lahat po kami naghahabol aiming to have license dahil nadelay na nga po ng pandemya, you should process our application fairly.
