Call for applications (40th cycle a.y. 2024/2025)

Call for the 40th cycle.

Ph.D course , selection call  and Technical guidelines for the submission of the application form for PhD Courses, 40th series for admission to the PhD Course in Human Rights, Society, And Multi-Level Governance - 40th series a.y. 2024/2025

The course offers 7 positions:

• 5 Scholarships funded by the University of Padova : the research project must fall within one of the following areas: 1) Protection of human rights and advocacy from a multilevel governance perspective - with a focus on the role of actors. 2) Environment, human rights and social justice social justice - focusing on the psychosocial psychosocial conditions of young people in relation to environmental crises and social inequalities social inequalities in the 'Anthropocene Era'. This includes understanding how they perceive, experience and respond to these problems. 3) Climate justice, political agroecology and sustainable sustainable development - with a focus on to climate finance, the fight against poverty and just transition. For the scholarships from Tangaza University College, the research project must relate to the following area: Sustainable development sustainable development and social innovation (including urban climate justice and community development).
• 2 Places reserved for candidates with qualification obtained at Tangaza University College (Kenya) : Topic: Social transformation on security, peace building and sustainable development in Africa, Peacebuilding,and Development in Africa

All required documents to be submitted listed in the information sheet for the chosen PhD course must be attached to the application form, together with a copy of a valid identity document , with photo , preferably a passport. If the candidate is applying for more than one course, each application must be completed with the relative documents required. All documentation must be attached in pdf format or any other format foreseen by the specific doctoral course. For all legal purposes, the application is to be considered as a self-certification of the data included therein and of the attached documents, in accordance with articles 46 and 47 of Italian Presidential Decree no. 445/2000 and subsequent amendments. A non-refundable payment of € 30.00 must be made for each application. This amount must be paid by the final deadline for submitting the application via "PagoPA". After payment, it is still possible to modify one's application. Once the application form has been completed, it must be printed, signed and re-uploaded following the instructions described in the online procedure , and a copy of a valid identity document must be attached. The absence of a signature, of the payment of the participation fee by the deadline and/or missing an identity document are grounds for exclusion from the selection process. The online procedure for submitting the application form can be also accessed through SPID (Public Digital Identity System), by choosing the University of Padova from the list of providers available: in case of access via SPID, no signature will be required when submitting the application

Reference letters are not required for this doctorate.

Application forms must be submitted no later than 1 pm (CEST) on the announcement deadline date (May 13th 2024).

The final ranking of the selected candidates will be published on 25 July 2024.

The programme will start on November 1st, 2024.

PhD - Calls and Admissions

The Department of Economics and Management of the University of Padova invites excellent students to apply to its PhD Programme in Economics and Management (four-year, full-time program). Fully funded scholarships are offered to the best applicants.  

The programme  is open to students from all countries , provided they hold a Master's degree or equivalent in economics, business sciences, statistics, mathematics or engineering.

The annual call for applications is typically open in the spring of each academic year, granting access to our program in the following academic year.

We offer  five four-year scholarships,  three for the curriculum in Economics and two for the curriculum in Management.

ANNUAL ANNOUNCEMENT OF SELECTION FOR PH.D. POSITIONS 2024 .

Call for admissions for the XXXVIII series will be opened at April   8 th , 2024  and the deadline will be   May  13 th , 2024 - 13.00 (CET)

Every year, the Doctoral Course in Geosciences receives a variable number of scholarships from the University. Research Projects on fixed topics funded by public or private bodies could also be available every year.

IMPORTANT: Candidates who live far from Pavia and, in case of admission in a PhD program, would need an accommodation in Pavia are strongly invited to apply for the Call for applications for the assignment of College Placements for the a.y. 2023/2024 , currently open with a deadline August 11, 2023 at 12:00. The call concerns the allocation of rooms in students’ residences for the next academic year, with a very convenient rent (based on the students’ financial situation and anyway amounting to a maximum of 4000€ per year).  Applications are also invited from PhD candidates who will take the admission tests after August 11, under condition of their admission to the PhD program . The application is free of charge.

Admission 2024 On 9 April 2024 the call for admission to the PhD-Programme in Molecular Sciences (40th cycle) at the University of Padova has been published. A total of 26 scholarships are available, of which 2 at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR). Available scholarships A detailed list of all available scholarships from the 2024 call can be found in the call. The scholarships are divided between the two curricula of the course: Chemical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Please note that for Chemical Sciences there is one scholarship reserved for candidates with a degree obtained outside Italy, that has its own dedicated admission procedure not requiring the written examination, see the call Important dates and deadlines 13 May 2024 (13:00): application deadline

Written examination (in person in Padova): 11 JUNE 2024 (13:30)

Oral examination: 17 JUNE 2024 8:30 (foreign qualification reserved scholarship) - 17 JUNE 2024 14:30 (all the other scholarships) - The exam may continue: 18/06/2024 - 20/06/2024

1 Novembre 2024: starting date of the PhD-Programme in Molecular Sciences (40th cycle) Eligibility Anyone holding a degree (laurea specialistica/magistrale/ciclo unico) or who will receive the degree no later than September 30th 2024 can apply. This includes (but it is not limited to) degrees in chemistry, industrial chemistry, materials science, biotechnology, chemistry and pharmaceutical technology, pharmacy, and also biology, physics, mathematics degree-holders/students who are interested in acquiring a PhD-degree in the field of Molecular Sciences.

Admission procedure The admission to the two curricula Chemical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Sciences follows separate procedures. Important: A candidate can apply only for one curriculum. Detailed information on the Admission Procedure can be found following this link .

Call for pre-selection for citizens of the people’s republic of china - xl cycle - academic year 2024/2025.

Sapienza University of Rome published a call for pre-selection for postgraduate PhD positions with scholarships fund by China Scholarship Council . Cedat annual report 2023.

It is my pleasure to present to you the CEDAT annual report for the year 2023. This report highlights the major achievements and the challenges faced during the period under review. The report further provides an overview of the colleges’ performance regarding the implementation of the Strategic Plan 2019/2020-2029/2030.

As you might be aware, I took over the mantle of College Principal on the 2nd of October 2023, together with the Deputy Principal Assoc. Prof. Kizito Maria Kasule. This was during the third quarter of the implementation of the planned activities for the year under review. It is based on this fact that I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to our predecessors, Prof. Henry Alinaitwe and Dr. Venny Nakazibwe, the Principal and Deputy Principal respectively, for the leadership of the College until the end of their tenure. Much of what is reported therefore is greatly attributed to their effort. That notwithstanding, I take this honor to appreciate the appointing authority for giving me this opportunity to serve and to the CEDAT community for the warm reception and cordial working relations enjoyed so far.

We have a task before us as per our mandate of teaching and learning, research and innovation, as well as knowledge transfer and partnerships. This is no mean task and it calls for concerted effort by all the stakeholders including the students, the academia, and the industry. During my reconnaissance to bring myself up-to-date with the college and the state of affairs as a new leader, I interacted with key administrative units of the college including the centers, the three Schools, namely the School of Engineering, School of the Built Environment, and the Margaret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Art. Several issues came up, both positive and negative and these need appropriate action if we are to maintain CEDAT as a Home of Innovations. I am optimistic that with the team spirit exhibited at CEDAT, a lot will be realized as we play our specified roles

I extend my sincere gratitude to all our stakeholders including but not limited to all CEDAT staff, students, alumni, partners, funders, and service providers for your unwavering commitment to serving humanity. I entreat you to keep the spirit alive as we journey together toward realizing the vision and mission of Makerere University

We are looking forward to an even more successful period ahead of us, and together definitely we shall achieve all we set out to do

Collaboration between UETCL-CEDAT: CEDAT hosts the collaboration strategy workshop

The College of Engineering, Design, Art, and Technology (CEDAT) entered into a partnership with Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (UETCL) as one of the strategies to step up the Industry-Academia Partnership.

CEDAT hosted a 2-day UETCL-CEDAT collaboration strategy workshop from the 6 th  to the 7 th  of March 2024 as one of the initial steps in the actualization of the provisions of the memorandum of understanding signed some time back between the two institutions.

While making opening remarks at the event attended by participants from both CEDAT and UECTL, The Dean, School of Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dorothy Okello noted that the strategy workshop was one of the first fruits of the journey that started with the signing of the MoU with UECTL.  We have used a different approach in how we action this MOU and it will be a more sustainable way, she said, while explaining that the workshop would clarify not only what was to be done in the short term or activity by activity basis but also how to carry this forward on a long term. The CEDAT Open Day Conference, Innovation Challenge and Exhibition, 2024

The College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) held the 2024 Open Day drawing the participation of the students, the academia, and the Industry.

The three-day event ran from 28 th  February to March 1 st,  2024 at the college under the Theme; Green Horizons: Cultivating Sustainable Futures through Green Skills for Green Jobs,” Showcasing projects focused on renewable energy production, energy efficiency, and sustainable transportation. TUM SEED Center International Summer School 2024

The TUM SEED Center for Sustainable Energies, Entrepreneurship, and Development at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is part of the long-term DAAD program “Exceed – Excellence Centers for Exchange and Development”, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development 2020-2024. The TUM SEED Center aims to contribute to sustainable development by offering higher education and conducting research at the intersection of sustainable energies and entrepreneurship in the Global South ( https://www.seed.tum.de ). The TUM SEED Center announces up to five scholarships for the International Summer School 2024 “Empowering Tomorrow: Sustainable Energies and Entrepreneurship” , which will take place in Munich from 8 to 19 July 2024. ( https://www.mgt.tum.de/programs/international-summer-school ). The scholarship covers the program’s total costs, including the participant fee, housing, and mobility costs.

Eligibility criteria:

The candidate must be a master’s student or a young professional (having already achieved a bachelor’s degree) from one of the partner universities of the TUM SEED Center with a strong interest in sustainable energies and entrepreneurship.
