Motherland is another way of talking about the country where we are born. It is a place where we are free citizens, and from where we derive our cultural identity. Students may be given the topic ‘My Motherland’ for an essay writing assignment. It may be challenging for students of lower primary classes to write such an essay on their own. Let us guide them on how to make a beautiful composition in 10 lines, short paragraphs, and long essays for classes 1, 2 and 3. By studying the writing pattern given here, children will get an idea about how to write their own essay by adding some of their own ideas.

While writing this essay, here is an easy and well-planned method to get started:

  • Gather your facts and come up with an outline for the essay.
  • Start with an introduction and end with a concluding line or paragraph.
  • An essay in 10 lines can include many facts about your country, its culture and heritage, and creative ideas. If you have several facts, make sure you are able to memorise them well.
  • Long essays can be written with facts, along with elaborate thoughts, that express your love for your motherland.

Mother Love

Behind everything you do is always your mother’s love, because her love is forever. Her love for the child is an opening into another kind of pure relationship that starts from the day she conceives, and it grows over the years and lasts till the end.

The Mother’s love starts when a baby looks like a peanut. That is true. From the first picture taken in a clinical lab and the child appeared as nothing more than a blip on the ultrasound monitor.

Tears of joy may stream down her delicate and pale face, and she declared it to be the most beautiful sight she had ever seen. The next nine months are a blur because the baby had to focus on surviving while being cushioned in the loving embrace of its mother. Love is pain – that is true because biologically, the child is nothing more than a parasite that feeds on the life and blood of its mother.

Some people might say that their real love is their spouse or their first-born or their very own first car or their dog, and they all have their reasons for it. However, these loves grow from what love your mother showed you first in life. It is a trend these days to make slight of pure emotions and heartfelt gestures because this era is all about angst-ridden, oversexed and dramatic love that sometimes borders on abuse and erotica. For a mother’s love, love is about purity – unconditional and independent. It is a beautiful feeling, which manifests itself in different forms all through life.

So this lady that a child first fell in love with goes from having jet-black hair to silver threads lined in between. She would spin the thick mass in a braid, and the baby will pull and play with it as the mother cradles the child in her lap and rocks it to sleep. Every little detail about her fascinates the little child. Her soft skin that feels warm while her eyes are a rich brown color. Her earlobe is the child’s favorite play toy every time she would carry it around the house in her arms. Often a child would tug at the gold chain around her neck and twist tiny fingers in her hair. Just touching her felt like being at home. Some babies are terrified of everything and her soothing touch chases away every monster under the bed and the nightmares in the closet.

They say life happens as you grow up. What started out as a pure relationship soon gets stained with the information, the racket and the hassle of this world. New friends, better ways to pass time, never-ending curiosity and the twisted ways in which the brain begins to think are some of the reasons why the fabric of love sewn over age begins to fray around the edges. The child grows into a young adult while the mother becomes old, but the love between them always remains ageless and unchanged.

Why I Love My Country

rushmore mountain presidents

If you asked me if I love my country, I would be very surprised. Seriously. The point is that asking me that is like asking me whether I love my mother, my father or my grandparents. There is no doubt that I love my country and, what is more, I am very proud of it and its people. One reason why I love the United States of America is that America is always ready to provide people with endless opportunities to successfully realize their full potential no matter where they come from and what kind of background they have. Just look at the brightest examples of marvelous American citizens! Bill Gates, Al Harris, Owens, Martin Luther King, Jr., Marian Anderson and many many other individuals! These famous Americans have successfully proved that diversity is with no doubt one of the many splendid traits of the United States of America.

I can name one more reason why I love the country, where I was born. The United States military is an excellent source of pride for me and my friends. All the courageous women and men who make certain to serve the USA Army Forces solidly protect this beautiful land both – abroad and at home. Each of them is ready to sacrifice their time they could spend with the family. Remember the lyrics from the national anthem of the United States of America “God Bless the USA”? It says the following: “I cannot forget the men who died who gave this right to me”. In other words, the representatives of the USA Military show the best of our land!

To my mind, every individual who now serves (or who has ever served in the USA Army) is a true hero! The point is that I do have the right to say things like that for the reason that the Constitution of the United States of America enables every American to avail of his rights and many other opportunities. Why am I saying that? Just take a look at such countries like Turkmenistan, North Korea or Libya! Constitutional rights are something that people in these countries simply cannot take benefits from – they simply do not have them. At all!

I am more than just proud of all the important things the United States of America have learned from the years that have passed. Once famous man named Benjamin Franklin said: “Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment”. Keeping that in my mind, I must say that I love my precious Motherland because it has learnt a lot from some of the most nightmarish times in our history. The incredible progress we have made by learning is the number one reason why the United States of America are now the place where a person like Barack Obama can do what a great number of people were absolutely sure was impossible, by becoming the President of the land!

I also adore my Motherland because it provides a bunch of innovative technologies, and as the time is passing by, people make sure to invent new advanced technologies. And I am more than sure that a wide variety of new technologies will come soon! This and many other accomplishments make me extremely proud of the country I live in. I also favor some other countries, but my heart belongs to the United States of America!

Essay on Mother's Love

Essay on Mother’s Love (1100+ Words)

The bond between a mother and child is unparalleled. From the moment a child is born, a mother is born alongside them. The child gazes up at their mother, observing her every move and eagerly imitating her actions. The mind of a child is sharp, and they emulate their mother’s activities with great enthusiasm. The mother assumes the responsibility of caring for her child in all aspects, including their health, clothing, diet, entertainment, education, sports, and the development of their competitive spirit. Through love and affection, the mother captures the heart of the child.

Mothers play an extraordinary role in shaping the lives of their children. They mold their character through their own exemplary deeds, gradually stepping back and allowing their children to find their own path. The foundation laid by a mother, built on affection, perseverance, discipline, guidance, and even tears, enables her children to navigate life’s challenges with confidence. It is the mother who shapes her child into a noble individual through her wise, insightful, and graceful actions. The mother motivates her child to learn by embracing activities that foster character development and personal growth, creating a natural environment for their education.

At times, mothers may resort to strict measures to discipline their children and impart valuable lessons. They may withhold food, prohibit engagement in undesirable activities, or even resort to physical punishment. While these actions may seem harsh, their underlying intention is one of love and concern. The mother’s ultimate desire is to see her child grow into a capable and independent individual, free from inadequacies.

There are mothers who break societal norms and possess the confidence and inspiration to guide and correct their children. They employ modern scientific knowledge and theories on child development, which profoundly impact their children’s outlook on life. Regardless of the strategies employed, the mother’s influence profoundly shapes the child’s life, helping them develop their own destiny. The greatest achievement for a mother is witnessing her child grow into a courageous individual, capable of respectable accomplishments, thanks to her teachings on the values of integrity, sacrifice, and tolerance. An ideal mother never encourages her child to live as a dependent creature, relying on charity and assistance from others.

Motherhood can be described in terms of sacrifice. A mother willingly sets aside her own comforts and works tirelessly to provide her child with nourishment, clothing, and quality education. She endeavors to earn money and promises her child a bright future. This inherent quality of selflessness is found wholly in a mother. She assumes the responsibilities of motherhood from her child’s earliest years and remains a trusted advisor throughout their life. It is of utmost importance that we hold our mothers in deep respect and pay them the highest regard, not simply because they are mothers, but for their unmatched devotion and incredible sacrifices towards us.

A mother encompasses everything meaningful in our lives. She is the one who understands us intimately and stands as our closest companion in everyday endeavors and challenges. Sometimes, she shoulders an immense burden, working under tension, to support us personally and professionally, helping us overcome obstacles in our work or business. We owe our mothers our deepest gratitude for everything they do for us.

The words of George Washington, the first President of America, and Lord Buddha resonate with the incredible significance of mothers throughout history. Both Washington and Buddha recognized the profound impact mothers have on shaping their children’s lives. Mothers have been and continue to be a source of unconditional love, protection, and guidance.

However, in today’s society, the values and emotions children hold toward their mothers are diminishing. The allure of materialism and external displays of grandeur overshadow the intrinsic values and feelings that should define our relationships with our mothers. Although we celebrate Mother’s Day each year in May and send greetings on the occasion, there are cases where children, especially those who are independent and living far away, may unintentionally forget about their mothers. Despite this, mothers continue to pray with all their hearts for the well-being and happiness of their children. A mother’s love remains unwavering, regardless of the circumstances.

The role of a mother extends far beyond biological ties or mere affection. Mothers embody sacrifice and selflessness. They willingly put aside their own needs and desires to ensure their children have access to the best opportunities in life. A mother’s love knows no bounds when it comes to providing her child with good food, clothing, and education. She goes to great lengths to earn money and secure a promising future for her child. This natural and remarkable quality is found within every mother.

Furthermore, a mother’s responsibility extends beyond the early years of her child’s life. She remains a trusted advisor and source of guidance throughout their journey. Whether it’s offering wisdom, support, or a listening ear, a mother is there to provide guidance and navigate the complexities of life. It is through her unwavering presence that a mother becomes an irreplaceable companion and confidante.

The understanding between a mother and her child is profound. A mother knows her child’s strengths, weaknesses, and dreams like no one else. She becomes a co-partner in everyday tasks and challenges, ready to take on a tremendous responsibility to help her child overcome personal and professional obstacles . When her child is in need, a mother fearlessly battles alongside them, ensuring they achieve their goals and aspirations.

It is vital that we acknowledge and appreciate the immeasurable contributions of mothers. The words of George Washington and Lord Buddha serve as a testament to the universal significance of mothers throughout history. The love, dedication, and sacrifices of mothers transcend cultural and geographical boundaries.

While society may shift its focus towards superficial pursuits, it is crucial that we maintain the values and sentiments associated with motherhood. Let us not forget the profound influence that mothers have on our lives. Let us respect and honor them not only for their role as mothers but also for their unparalleled devotion and the sacrifices they make for us.

In conclusion, a mother’s love and influence shape the course of a child’s life. The significance of motherhood cannot be overstated. It is a bond that begins at birth and extends throughout our lives. We need to cherish and hold mothers in the highest esteem, recognizing their selflessness, sacrifice, and unwavering support. They are our guiding light, our greatest well-wishers, and the embodiment of love.

Young, Beautiful, Murdered — and Her Mother

In the memoir “Rabbit Heart,” Kristine S. Ervin explores the human being behind sensational headlines, and our culture’s insatiable thirst for other people’s tragedy.

The image portrays three people standing behind a lectern which holds a microphone. Speaking is a man in a suit and paisley tie with white hair. In the center is a woman with long, fair hair in a dark jacket. A man with brown hair, a suit and red tie stands at right.

By Alissa Bennett

Alissa Bennett is an author and co-host of “The C Word.”

RABBIT HEART: A Mother’s Murder, a Daughter’s Story , by Kristine S. Ervin

One week after the arrest of Bryan Kohberger — currently awaiting trial for the brutal 2022 slayings of four college students in Moscow, Idaho — law enforcement officials were seen removing bedroom furniture from the victims’ home. The media covered this development with the same ardor it had displayed since the crime first entered the news cycle, and photo documentation quickly made its way to a detail-starved public.

In the days that followed, internet sleuths and news outlets began presenting digitally enhanced versions of the images, speculating that the dark shadows that appeared to bloom beneath the mattresses’ protective covers were pools of blood, that an innocuous-looking drip sliding down the leg of a desk was evidence of carnage. If the house had already become the grim metonymy of the young people who’d died inside it, the removal of its contents functioned as a kind of autopsy, a methodical post-mortem conducted in front of an audience invested in the lurid details of strangers’ deaths.

Studies indicate that the primary consumers of true crime-related media are women , and I’ve thought a lot about why that is. The most straightforward explanation I can suggest is that it’s a forum where we can passively engage in violence while simultaneously managing our fears of victimization. But if the genre dramatizes the differences between “safe” and “endangered,” it also has the effect of reducing victims to pure abstraction. In her new book, “Rabbit Heart ,” the poet and essayist Kristine S. Ervin offers a devastating account from the other side of murder, outlining in stark detail the trauma we fail to recognize when we consume tragedy as entertainment.

Ervin was 8 years old in 1986 when her mother, Kathy Sue Engle, was abducted from a mall parking lot in Oklahoma City. It would be several days before Engle’s partially decomposed body was discovered in a nearby oil field, and more than 20 years before a suspect was identified and convicted of the murder .

Melding true crime with memoir, Ervin reminds us of what happens when we conflate people with the transgressions committed against them — the collateral damage we inflict when we turn human beings into moral allegory. She asks, too, what it means to live in a world where even death does not spare women’s bodies from the indignity of surveillance.

Ervin writes with painful clarity about the instability of a childhood defined by public tragedy. The unanswered questions surrounding her mother’s death meant that even the most familiar of places became potential crime scenes, familiar objects indexes of loss.

Much of the book grapples with Ervin’s need to separate her mother’s identity from the brutality of her death. Part stranger and part cautionary tale, Kathy Sue is the absent epicenter of her daughter’s adolescence.

And running parallel is the author’s reckoning with how her own vulnerability was exploited. Recounting a series of psychologically and physically injurious encounters with adult men during her teenage years, Ervin untangles how her understanding of sexual agency unfolded in tandem with her growing knowledge of the crime.

She is particularly skillful at examining the conflict inherent in commodifying female sexuality — while simultaneously punishing women for being looked at. Though she had long heard innuendos that tacitly held Kathy Sue accountable for the violence committed against her, it was not until Ervin was a freshman in college that she learned the language — “dragged,” “bound,” “raped” — that had been used to describe the murder, and felt a horrifying shock of recognition. Measuring her own experiences of abuse against the facts of the case, Ervin exposes a culture that shames victims while demanding access to their trauma.

Throughout, her mother remains elusive. At one point, Ervin describes encountering the piece of clothing she most identified with Kathy Sue: a brown leather blazer that once smelled of Charlie perfume and menthol cigarettes. Slipping it on one afternoon, the author is surprised that the garment does not accommodate her at all; she has tried on her mother’s body and it does not fit.

“Rabbit Heart” is a powerful treatise on love and loss, on mothers and daughters, but it is also a warning to all of us who consume true crime. Reading about the afternoon Ervin ran across an image of Kathy Sue posted to a website called “Victims, Young, Beautiful — Murdered,” I found myself considering my own relationship to catastrophe-gazing. Looking at violence does not protect us from it, and our passivity does not prevent it from happening again.

Jessica Chastain reveals why it was ‘difficult’ working with Anne Hathaway on Mother’s Instinct

Jessica Chastain has revealed why it was “difficult” to work with her co-star Anne Hathaway on the set of their latest movie, Mother’s Instinct.

The psychological thriller, set in Sixties suburbia, follows Alice and Celine, two best friends and mothers, as a tragic accident leads to paranoia and guilt rapidly unravelling their bond.

Chastain, who previously worked with Hathaway on Christopher Nolan ’s sci-fi movie Interstellar , unpacked the dynamic between them on set in an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.

The actor said it was “difficult” to work with the Princess Diaries star due to their previous relationship.

The pair consider each other close friends and Chastain said their closeness made the performance of enmity a challenge.

“It was more difficult to play friends who have conflict in the story, especially when you care about the person so much,” adding that she would “love to work with her where we don’t have an extreme conflict”.

Bafta and Emmy award-winning actor Hathaway praised Chastain for being “one of the greatest living actresses”, saying she considered Chastain a “darling friend”.

Chastain reiterated the closeness of their friendship, praising Hathaway’s performance. “She’s really incredible and can just switch on a dime,” she said.

“You see actresses who have to rev it up for a long time, but she’s not like that. She’s professional, and once cameras roll she is able to conjure up this depth of feeling.”

The actor, who won an Academy Award for her performance as televangelist Tammy Faye in the 2021 movie The Eyes of Tammy Faye ,recently starred in the movie Memory, directed by Mexican filmmaker Michel Franco.

In The Independent ’s three-star review of Memory, chief film critic Clarisse McLoughrey said: “Chastain allows the grief of a lost girlhood to twist her body inwards, to keep it taut and perpetually on the defence.”

Hathaway and Chastain, who are both producers on the movie, also commented on the industry’s inclusivity in the interview.

“I’m hesitant to celebrate,” Hathaway said, while both acknowledged that some progress was being made towards more diverse and inclusive films being made.

Mother’s Instinct is released in cinemas on 27 March.

Dear Annie: Blindsided by divorce papers from husband — and his mother

  • Published: Mar. 23, 2024, 10:00 a.m.

Arguing

How could people be so cruel? Getty Images

Dear Annie: My name is “Stephanie,” and my husband’s name is “Travis.” Travis and I have been married for 27 years. About six months ago, I was blindsided with divorce papers. He and his mom made the decision. Yes, you read that right. Anyhow, my husband and I still live together, and the divorce has not moved forward for various reasons. His entire family has completely disowned me, with the exception of my father-in-law, who didn’t get involved.

Travis’ father, my father-in-law, suddenly passed away recently. It was heartbreaking. I sent food, etc. because that is who I am. When the obituary came out online and in the paper, my name wasn’t in it. My husband’s name and our children’s names were, of course, but my name wasn’t. I am so hurt by this. My father-in-law and I always had a good relationship, and I feel like Travis and his mother did it out of spite. I know they did. In my opinion, that was disrespectful to both his father and to me.

How could people be so cruel? How do I move past this? What are your thoughts? Thank you. -- “Stephanie” Left Out in PA

Dear Stephanie: I’m sorry for the loss of your father-in-law, especially during an already difficult time for you and your marriage. After almost three decades of calling Travis’ family your own, you have every right to feel hurt, excluded and disrespected by their behavior. Ultimately, this action speaks much louder of their character than of yours.

Initiate a conversation with Travis to express how this exclusion made you feel and establish a way to interact and cohabit as you move toward finalizing the divorce. It is disappointing that the people you’ve been closest to have started to act in unrecognizable ways, but remember, you can only control your reactions and behavior. Lean on your true friends and loved ones while you grieve both your father-in-law and your marriage.

Katherine Jackson is a mother to 10 children with her late husband Joe Jackson , including musicians Michael Jackson , Janet Jackson and members of The Jackson 5.

In his 1988 autobiography Moonwalk , Michael opened up about how his mom made him and each of his siblings feel special. According to the late singer, Katherine paid careful attention to their interests and found ways to encourage their ambitions.

"Every child thinks their mother is the greatest mother in the world, but we Jacksons never lost that feeling," he wrote. "Because of Katherine's gentleness, warmth and attention, I can't imagine what it's like to grow up without a mother's love."

Michael continued, “The lessons she taught us were invaluable. Kindness, love, and consideration for other people headed her list.”

Soon after the “Bad” singer died on June 25, 2009, of acute propofol intoxication, his mother was granted custody of his three children: Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. (known as Prince), Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson II (previously known as Blanket, now Bigi).

“Out of all the people in Michael’s life, I think Michael adored his children more than anything else. And they adored him,” Katherine told Dateline in 2010.

So who is Michael Jackson’s mother? Here’s everything to know about Katherine Jackson, from her early life to raising musical superstars.

She grew up in Indiana

Katherine was born as Kattie B. Screws on May 4, 1930, in Clayton, Alabama, to parents Prince Albert and Martha Screws. As a child, she contracted polio, leading her to walk with a limp for the rest of her life.

When she was 4, her father changed his last name from Screws to Scruse, and his daughter was renamed Katherine Esther Scruse. Her family moved to East Chicago, Indiana, where she attended Washington High School and was a member of the school band.

Katherine met Joseph “Joe” Jackson, her future husband and a fellow resident of East Chicago, Indiana, at a party, according to The New York Times . He reportedly filed for an annulment from his first marriage, and the pair began to date, tying the knot on Nov. 5, 1949.

After getting married, they bought a small house in Gary, Indiana, at 2300 Jackson Street, about 15 minutes from East Chicago. Though the couple stayed married until Joe died in 2018, their union had its ups and downs.

She filed for divorce in March 1973 but dismissed the filing. During their marriage, Joe reportedly had a 25-year-long affair with a woman named Cheryl Terrell and she gave birth to their daughter, Joh’Vonnie Jackson, in August 1974.

A handful of years later, Katherine filed for divorce again in 1982 but rescinded the papers.

Despite rumors of being estranged through the later years of their marriage, Katherine and Joe remained married until his death on June 27, 2018, due to terminal pancreatic cancer .

“We want to thank you all for the support you have shown us as we grieve for the patriarch of our family. We mourn the loss of our father and celebrate the life of a man who sacrificed so much to give us the life and success we have today. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this time,” the family said in a joint statement.

Katherine and Joe had three daughters and seven sons together between 1950 and 1966.

A year after they wed, Katherine gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Maureen Reillette “Rebbie,” on May 29, 1950. The couple's first son, Sigmund Esco “Jackie,” was then born on May 4, 1951. Katherine and Joe expanded their family again with the addition of another son, Toriano Adaryll “Tito," who arrived on Oct. 15, 1953.

Not too long after, the pair celebrated the birth of their son Jermaine La Jaune on Dec. 11, 1954, and less than two years later, their daughter LaToya Yvonne joined the family on May 29, 1956.

Twins Marlon David and Brandon David arrived two months premature on March 12, 1957, though Brandon sadly died shortly after he was born. The following year, on Aug. 29, Michael Joseph was born.

Steven Randall “Randy” arrived on Oct. 29, 1961, and is the only brother in the family not to be a founding member of The Jackson 5. Katherine and Joe’s tenth child is daughter Janet Damita Jo , born on May 16, 1966.

Joe was known to be stern with his children , which some of them have publicly discussed, including LaToya in her 1991 memoir and Michael in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey .

In a rare sit-down interview with Winfrey in 2010 after Michael’s death, Joe answered questions about how he disciplined their children. Though he didn't agree with the word "beat," he said that he "whipped" them.

"You might as well admit it, that's the way Black people raised their children," Katherine said to her husband before adding, "He used a strap."

When asked if he regretted his past actions, Joe said, “I don’t. It kept them out of jail and kept them right.”

While Joe was determined to have their family’s talent recognized, Michael said it was Katherine’s own talent that inspired him to keep striving for success. Although she didn't get to sing and play instruments for an audience because of a past health condition, Michael wanted to carry on that dream for her.

“My mother knew her polio was not a curse but a test that God gave her to triumph over, and she instilled in me a love of Him that I will always have,” he wrote in his 1988 autobiography Moonwalk . “She taught me that my talent for singing and dancing was as much God’s work as a beautiful sunset or storm that left snow for children to play in.”

Michael also recounted a brief conversation he had with Ed Sullivan when The Jackson 5 performed on the late-night show in 1970. According to the late performer, the host told him, “Never forget where your talent came from, that your talent is a gift from God.”

Though a young Michael appreciated his words, Katherine had shared a similar sentiment with him all his life. “I was grateful for his kindness, but I could have told him that my mother had never let me forget," he added.

In his book, the “Billie Jean” vocalist also revealed that it was his mom who convinced Joe to let him join the band as a backup singer and bongo player.

She is an author

Katherine’s autobiography, My Family, the Jacksons , was released in January 1990 and was co-written by Richard Wiseman.

The book details Katherine's life, what it was like raising her family and her account of witnessing The Jackson 5's rise to fame. The matriarch also delves into stories about Michael's successful solo career, Janet following in her siblings' musical footsteps and much more.

Her second book, Never Can Say Goodbye: The Katherine Jackson Story , is a coffee table book filled with photos and personal memories of Michael and her children, released in 2010.

“It brought back a lot of memories and then it brought back a lot of tears, but all in all, I had fun writing it,” she told Dateline of the project.

She is a grandmother and great-grandmother

Between her nine children who lived to adulthood, Katherine has 26 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, with many of them following the family business of joining the music and entertainment industries.

Of her many grandkids, the most famous are Michael’s three children: Prince , Paris and Bigi .

Following the Thriller singer’s death in 2009 , a settlement was reached between Katherine and Debbie Rowe , the mother of Prince and Paris, regarding their care. She was granted custody of her grandchildren as their permanent guardian, with Rowe receiving visitation rights and continued spousal support.

A few years later, Katherine was suspended as the kids' guardian when she went to Arizona on her own without notice and her family reported her as missing in 2012. Shortly after, she was located and reinstated as a co-guardian with her son Tito, per The Hollywood Reporter .

The mother and son looked over Prince, Paris and Bigi's well-being until Katherine resigned as co-guardian for Bigi in 2017. By that point, Michael's youngest child was 15 years old and Tito was named Bigi's sole guardian.

Earlier that year, he thanked his grandma and uncle for always looking out for him and his siblings, calling Katherine "incredible," per ABC News .

She is in an estate dispute with her grandson Bigi

In March 2024, Katherine’s grandson Bigi took her to court, asking Michael’s estate not to fund her ongoing legal battle against the executors. According to court filings obtained by PEOPLE , Katherine is involved in a disagreement over a “recent transaction,” the details of which haven’t been disclosed to the public.

Although Katherine and Bigi both initially opposed the estate’s proposed transaction — which appears to be the estimated $600 million catalog sale of Michael’s work to Sony — a judge ruled that the deal could proceed last year. Bigi and his siblings accepted the court’s decision, but Katherine filed for an appeal.

Now, Bigi argues that her request to have the estate pay her legal bills for the appeal would be “unfair.”

"It is readily apparent that a reversal on appeal would be an extreme longshot,” lawyers wrote on his behalf. “Given those odds, Bigi decided not to waste his resources to participate in an appeal. Nonetheless, Katherine has decided to appeal this court’s ruling. That decision is not for the benefit of the heirs.”
