OMG 2 Reviews
Flanking sexuality with faith is a space most storytellers would rather avoid, but it is precisely what makes OMG 2’s messaging universal.
Full Review | Jan 24, 2024
A film which should be watched by the audience of all the age groups as it delivers a social message which is the need of the hour across the nation.
Full Review | Original Score: 4/5 | Aug 31, 2023
Watch the film for its powerful message and for the brilliant acting on display by the ensemble cast.
Full Review | Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 17, 2023
OMG 2 stumbles a bit in the last third of the movie with a very clumsily staged plot development. However, this memorable drama has a timely message about sex education in schools that shows both sides of the issue in a compelling courtroom setting.
Full Review | Aug 15, 2023
As nice as it is to see – and hear – Pankaj Tripathi on screen in any capacity, his Kanti starts sounding like a Godman who is slowly building his cult.
It’s been a while since I enjoyed an Akshay Kumar performance as much as this one. And I haven’t been taken by surprise as much as I was in OMG 2, in the best way possible.
Full Review | Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 15, 2023
With a balanced dose of a social message and humour, Amit Rai weaves a compelling film starring Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar.
OMG 2 aspires to be as sharp as a scalpel but is actually as blunt as the back of a knife.
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Aug 15, 2023
It’s rare for sequels to outshine the original and writer-director Amit Rai’s clever and crisp courtroom comedy fulfils this mammoth task.
Full Review | Original Score: 4/5 | Aug 14, 2023
OMG 2 always has its heart in the right place. Its concept is carefully steered, taking care to offer a progressive interpretation of Hinduism without causing offence.
Full Review | Aug 14, 2023
OMG 2 is a film that is concerned about the present and future of India’s majority community. Without directly addressing it, the film is aware that the country is regressing in the name of religion while allowing sexism, violence, and bigotry to run amok
Full Review | Original Score: 4/5 | Aug 11, 2023
The intent of OMG 2 is not too hard to understand. At a time when the Hindu religion has come to be identified with regressive mandates, Rai seeks to step in and remind how progressive it has been since time immemorial.
Full Review | Original Score: 0 | Aug 11, 2023
OMG 2 is a lot of fun. It manages to strike a nice and delicate balance between dealing with a serious issue and delivering moments of genuine laughter and heartfelt emotions.

OMG 2 review: Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi’s laugh-out-loud film sneaks in a timely message
Omg 2 movie review: it’s been a while since i enjoyed an akshay kumar performance as much as this one. and i haven’t been taken by surprise as much as i was in omg 2, in the best way possible..
In the 2012 OMG, Paresh Rawal plays a snarky ‘naastik (atheist)’ with such verve that poor Krishna Vasudev Yadav from Gokul is compelled to come down to the earth to teach the former the error of his ways. In so doing, the film disses caste and creed, while taking several digs at ‘paakhandis’ across all religions who prey upon the gullible: a main character talks of, gulp, Gita, Bible and Quran in the same breath. In other words, OMG, fronted by Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, bravely sent up religious hypocrisies across the board, and we all laughed our heads off even as the great sceptic Kanji Lal Mehta discovered religion.
I went into OMG 2 with a great deal of trepidation. This is 2023, and a different India. With so much polarisation around us, would a film be able to look at religion, and religious figures without getting all didactic and preachy, and, yes, majoritarian? The sequel does the smart thing by side-stepping the tricky issue of diversity by tilting it towards such a startlingly progressive, liberal point-of-view that we forget, almost, the absence of other faiths. And comes up with a crackling film which questions the lack of faith ignorant adults repose (or rather, do not) in our young people as they explore the mysteries of their bodies with natural curiosity and frankness: it is not ‘gandaa kaam’ or something wrong, and it isn’t certainly isn’t anything to be ashamed of.
It also makes a smart choice of making its lead character Kanti Sharan Mudgal already a firm Shiva bhakt, and Pankaj Tripathi slips into that role with practised ease. Kanti’s belief is tested to the hilt as his adolescent son is bullied and harassed by his school-mates and let down by his teachers for having indulged in ‘vulgar acts’. The court-room, presided over by Judge Purushottam Nagar (Malhotra, hiding his smiles through the proceedings) becomes Kanti’s battle-field as he defends his son, with combative lady lawyer Kamini Maheshwari ( Yami Gautam , learning her lessons well) appearing for the accused, the school principal, and assorted snake oil dispensers and charlatans.
And every time Kanti Sharan falters, Bhole Nath’s ‘doot’ aka messenger (standing in for the lord himself , but we aren’t fooled, are we?) appears in all sorts of quirky guises, as a mendicant with dreadlocks, as a colourful harlequin zooming around in a sports car, and so on: it helps, of course, that it is Shiva, the coolest, zaniest god in the Hindu pantheon. And this time around, Akshay has even more fun: yes, he is playing antaryami, the all-knowing, but with the kind of lightness he can display when he is not taking himself seriously. The Nandi bull, Bhole Nath’s official ‘vaahan’ appearing every time he does, is a very funny, apt touch. It’s been a while since I enjoyed an Akshay Kumar performance as much as this one.
And I haven’t been taken by surprise as much as I was in OMG 2, in the best way possible. It took me some time to get used to the fact that this was a film which was taking its mission – talking up the vital importance of sex education amongst school-going children, and even more importantly, taking the shame away from such discussions — so seriously that it would get into severely explanatory mode, and stick with it. It also chooses to go all out in terms of the language used, never pulling punches, and naming things as they are, even if it is somewhat on the nose: the dialogue writers have clearly had a blast, making us laugh despite a few clunky sideswipes at Macaulay’s ‘shiksha pranali’, while emphasising the goodness of ‘sanatan dharm’. The pace is uneven, though, and some parts slacken; and the use of ‘shuddh’ Hindi is clever: it helps keep things opaque when you can go over the heads of people initially before shocked-yet-gleeful understanding hits. OMG 2 also lunges for melodramatic patches and some ‘naach-gaana’, including an all-too brief ‘taandav’.
But the film never wavers in its intent, sneaking in taboo topics in its laugh-out-loud comic tone, and for that it ropes in the gods, which is a brilliant ploy: you get them on your side, you can get away with anything, even things that would ordinarily be deemed ‘ashleel’ (vulgar). For once, I didn’t mind being lectured at; in fact I enjoyed the ones that the very earnest and very determined Kanti Sharan Mudgal delivers himself of, once he hits his stride: such terms as ‘hasth maithun’, ‘ling’, ‘yoni’, ‘naisargik kriya’, all come tripping off his very deft tongue – it helps too that Tripathi is a master of delivery — all to excellent purpose.
A mainstream Hindi film taking up cudgels on behalf of the proponents of catching ‘em young? Speaking straight and true? Mentioning the wonders of the Kamasutra? Opening up syllabuses to include sex education? Yes, yes, and yes. Omg.

OMG 2 Review: Akshay Kumar's Simplistic Satire Buoyed By Lively Performances
Omg 2 review: god's messenger is embodied by a flamboyant akshay kumar. the star's presence is understandable..
Akshay Kumar in OMG 2 . (courtesy: akshaykumar )
A video of a boy pleasuring himself in the school toilet goes viral. He is rusticated for aberrant behaviour. He is gripped by self-loathing, his father is livid with him and their self-righteous neighbours sever all links with the family.
The boy's father, an unswerving devotee of Lord Shiva, decides to leave the central Indian holy town they call home. But before the family can board the train that will take them to Saharanpur, an emissary of Lord Shiva shows up. The simple-minded man witnesses a miracle. He returns home and opts to stay and fight.
Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi) takes the school to court and demands that his son's unjustified rustication be revoked. By bringing matters out in the open, he hopes to help the cowering boy rid himself of his sense of guilt and shame and compel the institution to accept the blame for not giving him and his classmates the guidance that they needed.
The purpose of Kanti's petition - no lawyer is willing to represent him so he becomes his own counsel - is to impress upon the court the need to introduce a comprehensive sex education course in schools so that boys of his son's ilk (and girls, too) do not fall prey to misconceptions about their bodies and sexual desires.
That, in a nutshell, is what OMG 2 , written and directed by Amit Rai (he made Road to Sangam 13 years ago), is about. At one level, the film may be deemed a pertinent courtroom drama that engages in a conversation of import. It, however, frequently ties itself up in knots and that isn't a pretty sight.
The overlong, convoluted and simplistic satire - the sprinkling of comedy strewn across it renders the exercise more flippant than funny - ultimately yields no more than a sloppy mish-mash of the relevant and the gratuitous that even the most omnipotent of gods cannot salvage.
God's messenger in OMG is embodied by a flamboyant Akshay Kumar. The star's presence in the film is understandable. It enhances the box-office potential of the venture. But why Kanti Sharan Mudgal would need divine intervention to sort out his and his son's everyday problems in the real world is never clearly and convincingly established.
It is almost as if the makers had a narrative kernel in place and were then given access to the title of a commercially successful film from a decade ago. God had to be willy-nilly made a part of the deal, no matter how tangentially, for the film to be called OMG 2 .
To return to the yarn, the exuberant godly mediator in a town whose reigning deity is Shiva is followed by a colourfully draped bull - presumably a live incarnation of Nandi - every time he exits a scene after having trotted out useful maxims for the benefit of a confused believer. But the rockstar problem-solver seems to enjoy nothing more than getting behind the wheel of a snazzy car and driving like a maniac. Traffic rules obviously do not apply to him.
In a scene late in the film, he performs another life-saving miracle. The magical deed done, he takes Kanti for a spin in a fast car that leaves the latter dizzy with a mix of alarm and excitement. But none of the exhilaration that he feels is transmitted to the audience as the film limps towards a predictable climax.
In OMG , released in 2012, an agnostic shopkeeper sues the Almighty when his curio store is destroyed in an earthquake, which his insurance company defines as "an act of God". The film, which had Akshay Kumar in the role of an avatar of Lord Krishna, revolved around a courtroom debate between faith and rationalism, between belief and scorn.
In the completely unrelated follow-up to that film, there is no room for the power of the divine to be called into question. Fervour replaces logic as God assumes a human form and descends on earth on a mission. He arms a harried father with the courage, and ammunition, to take on a powerful school and a bunch of businesses that give teenagers the false hope that there are quick-fixes available for their sexual deficiencies, real or imagined.
OMG 2, which endorses blind faith even as it trots out arguments in favour of adopting a scientific, clinical approach to sex education in schools, goes round in circles as it pits Kanti against Kamini Maheshwari (Yami Gautam Dhar), a lawyer who has a personal stake in the outcome of the case. She is the daughter-in-law (Yami Gautam Dhar) 0f the school chairman (Arun Govil).
The plea comes up for hearing in the court of Judge Purushottam Nagar (Pavan Raj Malhotra), an amiable man who is all ears to Kanti's rough and ready arguments but has to frequently turn to the court stenographer for help to decipher the plaintiff's earthy lingo.
The film is buoyed by lively performances that ring true, especially the ones by Pankaj Tripathi and Geeta Agrawal, who plays Kanti's befuddled and emotionally rattled wife Indumati. But the bright spots go abegging because OMG 2 is undermined by too many false steps that lead it astray.
The film takes a random potshot at Macaulay, talks of how ancient India was a model of modernity while the rest of the world was stuck in the dark ages - no attempt is made to provide empirical evidence to support this grand theory - and brings into the unduly fluffy narrative allusions to themes (such as sexual violence, good touch and bad touch, et all) that should have been left for another film.
If the makers of OMG 2 knew where to draw the line and what to highlight and what to weed out, they would have had a far mellower and infinitely more convincing film to show for their well-intentioned but ill-conceived efforts.
While some of the thoughts that the film tosses around cannot be faulted, the methods that it employs to verbalise them border on the overly callow, when they are not outright facetious.

So, what does one make of a movie that wants to say the right things but does not quite know how to say them? Should we commend it for just trying? If one were in a generous mood, the answer might be is yes but not of the unequivocal kind that the affirmation would have been had OMG 2 not been such an exasperatingly middling affair.
To sum up, OMG 2 aspires to be as sharp as a scalpel but is actually as blunt as the back of a knife.

OMG 2 movie review: Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi & Yami Gautam Dhar deliver a path-breaking film on sex education
Writer-director Amit Rai masterfully pens each and every scene of OMG 2 along with top-class direction, that keeps the narrative engaging
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam Dhar, Arun Govil
Director: Amit Rai
Despite being the most populated country in the world, the discussion about sex or sex education is still considered a topic of debate or insensitive in many parts of India. So, when I came to know that OMG 2 deals with the issue of sex education, there was instant curiosity in my mind. Undoubtedly, it’s a sensitive topic and while one would applaud makers for their bold attempt but there’s always a high chance of facing a backlash due to poor execution. However, looking at Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi & Yami Gautam Dhar starrer, we can say that film has managed to put across its message in a convincing and entertaining way.
Talking about the plot, it revolves around Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi), who is in court to fight a case against his son’s school along with people, who misinformed him about sex. He also files a case against himself as he couldn’t understand his son.
He faces a tough opponent in the form of lawyer Kamini (Yami Gautam Dhar) and during this legal battle Kanti points out the importance of sex education in the society and how it helps to shape the mindset and behaviour of an individual.
Writer-director Amit Rai masterfully pens each and every scene along with top-class direction, that keeps the narrative engaging. Talking about the performances, the film completely belongs to Pankaj Tripathi, who shines in each and every frame with his effortless and innocent portrayal of Kanti. Akshay’s character as the messenger of Lord Shiva seems to be an extended cameo. However, the actor impresses with his expressions and dialogues and delivers one of his best performances in recent times. Yami Gautam as Kamini is superb. She is blunt, straightforward and hits the chord every time.
OMG 2 is a film, which should be watched by the audience of all the age groups as it delivers a social message, which is the need of the hour across the nation.
Rating: 4 (out of 5 stars)
OMG 2 will hit the screens on 11 August

OMG 2 review: Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Kumar share a necessary message, make you laugh
Omg 2 review: with a balanced dose of a social message and humour, amit rai weaves a compelling film starring pankaj tripathi and akshay kumar..
For a country so obsessed with sex and porn, why is sex education in schools still a taboo? India is perceived to be the land of Kamasutra, then why do Indian parents and teachers shy away from talking about sex openly with kids? If biology is a subject in school curriculum, why the chapter on reproduction is conveniently overlooked and never taught properly? OMG 2 presents these arguments with a generous dose of humour that never lets the film enter the preachy zone and keeps it highly entertaining. Director-writer Amit Rai has meticulously touched upon the subject of sex education without making it sound frivolous or vulgar. (Also read: Gadar 2 and OMG 2 movie release live updates )
The film traces Kanti Sharan Mudgal ( Pankaj Tripathi ) who runs a pooja shop near a temple and is a die-hard devotee of mahakal (Lord Shiva), a caring husband, a doting father to two and a good, and generally a kind man. His life turns upside down when his son Vivek (Aarush Verma) gets admitted to the hospital due to exhaustion caused by excessive masturbation ('selfie' as a slang), and gets rusticated from school on the pretext of obscene and vulgar conduct, after a video of him doing the act in school toilet is circulated on the internet.
To save his family from being ostracised, Kanti decides to flee with his family, and that's when enters the messenger of God ( Akshay Kumar ) to guide him and put him on a righteous path to fight for his son. Upon realising that his son has actually been a victim of misinformation and misguidance, Kanti takes the matter in his own hands, and drags the school authorities to the court along with babas, sex therapists, a doctor and a chemist who made Vivek conscious about his sexual desires. There, he is pitted against an English-speaking lawyer Kamini Maheshwari (Yami Gautam), and the two present their arguments in front of Judge Purushotam Nagar (Pavan Malhotra).
Amit Rai's gutsy yet sensitive writing is the star of the film that makes a socially relevant story more effective. He doesn't hesitate in calling a spade, a spade. For example, the film raises a pertinent question about why don't people call penis and vagina as penis and vagina, and instead use slangs or give them names? In one of the scenes, when Tripathi is trying to show how schools should impart sex education, he refers to penis as 'ling' and vagina as 'stree ki yoni' and at no point it feels uncomfortable to hear.
OMG 2 is a sincere attempt at reducing the gap between Indian parents and children when it comes to having a comfortable discussion around physical intimacy. The progressive outlook the film tries to show through its characters reaches us well, and with some thought-provoking lines, it leaves a lasting impact. Also, I liked that Rai hasn't introduced too many subplots, and he remains focused on highlighting the importance of sex education.
Other than its script, OMG 2 belongs to Pankaj Tripathi, and he carries the film effortlessly on his shoulders. Of course there's able support from Akshay Kumar in his extended cameo, but Tripathi is a delight to watch onscreen. From every word he speaks to every gesture he makes, it's so nuanced and well-performed that it calls for applause. His command over the language is unmatched, though at times, the pure Hindi dialogues get a bit too much to handle. But, he tries to translate them into simpler Hindi, and things get back on the track.
Yami as the menacing defendant delivers a convincing performance and holds her ground in the courtroom scenes. Akshay as the messenger of God (he was earlier to play Lord Shiva but after CBFC modifications, his character was tweaked) is just magnificent. With those deadlocks, godlike smile and harem pants, he carries a divine 'swag'. The pre-interval sequence that shows a Shivratri scene has Kumar doing a tandav that's not to be missed and is just magical. I loved the fact that despite his star power and strong screen presence, Kumar not for once overshadows Tripathi, instead elevates he his scenes, and lets him shine throughout.
Taking the OMG franchise forward, this latest offering is a whole new story albeit with a few commonalities with the premise of part one. For instance, the divine intervention that pushes a devotee to fight for his own rights, the courtroom setup, the hospital sequence before the climax, and the importance of books in making the protagonist realise that all answers lie in the literature that has already been written centuries ago.
OMG 2 is the kind of film that is meant for family viewing, as it bridges the gap that has long existed between parents and kids who aren't comfortable talking about certain topics. The film opens a channel for conversations and the need to normalise sex education. Watch it with your kids and you'll go home with a smile, and maybe with a more open mind, too.

OMG 2 Review
It was the year 2012 when Akshay Kumar’s OMG – Oh My God! released and raised several eyebrows. It was a satirical comedy-drama based on how blind faith in God will take us nowhere. Now after 11 years, the superstar is back with OMG 2 and well, it’s as promising. Starring Akshay along with Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, Pavan Malhotra and Arun Govil, the sequel is directed by Amit Rai. It talks about a very important issue that still very much exists in our society. OMG 2 is a story of a man’s fight for the right to education for his son.
Watch the trailer while reading OMG 2 Review
OMG 2 is the story of Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi), a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva; a simple man, a loving father and a caring husband. One day his son, Vivek, is blamed for immoral conduct and thrown out of school by the principal Atal Maheshwari (Arun Govil). Upon confrontation, Kanti realizes that his son has been a victim of misinformation and misguidance. Grief-struck and unable to handle the crisis, Kanti decides to leave the town with his family, until he has a divine intervention with Mahadev HarHar – the messenger of Lord Shiva (Akshay Kumar) – that steers him towards truth. Kanti then decides to take on everyone responsible by dragging them to court and fighting the case against Kamini Maheshwari (Yami Gautam) who represents her father-in-law Atal Maheshwari’s school.
How Kanti fights the long battle to normalize sex education in schools with the help of Mahadev is what makes OMG 2 a worthy watch. It not only takes us on an emotional journey but also sheds light on our faulty education system. It’s sad that India still tackles this problem. It’s still not very normal for schools to have sex education being taught, just like every other subject. What’s funny is that schools teach about the reproduction of animals but not human beings. It still is considered taboo in our society. But Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s courageous attempt at normalizing sex education is worth every watch. OMG 2 is bang on – it talks straight about why education on sex is important for children and makes an impact effectively and entertainingly.

Performances
Aapki baat mai baat hai isiliye aapki baat bhi honi chahiye – This is what Pankaj Tripathi is told in the film and this is exactly what I feel about this brilliant actor’s performance. Can he ever go wrong with his act? I don’t think so! Even in OMG 2, Pankaj as Kanti perfectly emotes every emotion of a father who is willing to go to any extent to protect his kids. Pankaj strongly carries the film on his shoulders. He proves himself yet again, reminding everyone what an excellent actor he is with this powerful performance. Shining bright despite a much smaller screen space is Akshay Kumar. His look as Lord Shiva’s messenger is perfect and it wouldn’t be wrong to call this his best performance in a really long time. AK talks, walks and steals the show as Lord Shiva’s messenger.
Akshay Kumar in OMG 2
Yami Gautam is in her element as Kamini Maheshwari in OMG 2. She is a treat to watch. Her evil act will leave you with goosebumps in some court scenes. She is menacing as the opposition lawyer and gives tough competition to Pankaj. You might dislike her in some scenes – that’s how brilliantly she has played her part. Pavan Malhotra as Judge Purushottam Nagar is the surprise package in the movie. He plays a very important role and supports the social message. The entire supporting cast is bang-on in their performances.
Technical Aspect
Director Amit Rai has tackled the sensitive subject of sex education along with a religious backdrop very responsibly. The way the filmmaker has directed and written the film is commendable. He has made sure no religious sentiments are hurt while watching the film. Each and every portrayal is near-perfect, leaving no room for unnecessary judgments or objections. In fact, the film is much more than just having a mythological backdrop. It talks about a much bigger issue but in an entertaining manner. Cinematographer Amalendu Chaudhary has done good camera work. The courtroom sequences are shot impactfully. Suvir Nath’s editing could have been crispier. Music by Vikram Montrose, Hansraj Raghuwanshi, Djstrings, Pranaay and Sandesh Shandilya is divine and soulful. And oh, loved the little Gadar plug-in!
What’s great about the Amit Rai directorial
Powerful social message: The film rightly questions India’s faulty education system and raises some very valid points. It talks about why sex education is extremely important for kids and why it must be taught in school. OMG 2 leaves an impact without being in-your-face.
Intense courtroom drama: The courtroom drama between Yami and Pankaj is a treat to watch. It lacks pace in the beginning but soon picks up. The way Yami and Pankaj fight it out with sheer sarcasm in the court is worth a watch.
Religious backdrop: If you thought OMG 2 is just about mythology, then you’re wrong. It uses it as a mere backdrop and that’s exactly what works for the film.
Drawbacks of OMG 2
Dragged first-half: The first half feels unnecessarily dragged but the film catches speed in the second half. The climax is a winner.
If you’re looking forward to watching an entertaining film that also talks about a very important social message then OMG 2 is the right choice for you!

OMG 2 Movie Review: Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi & Yami Gautam film entertains and educates
Key Highlight
- The arc of redemption in OMG 2 touches your heart
- The final battle between Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam has clap trap moments
- It’s commendable for a star like Akshay Kumar to touch upon the subject of Sex Education
Name: OMG 2
Director: amit rai, cast: akshay kumar, pankaj tripathi, yami gautam, arun govil, writer: amit rai, where to watch: netflix.
Back in 2012, Akshay Kumar made an appearance as lord Krishna in Oh My God and raised several pertinent questions on societal practices. 11 years later, he is returning with OMG 2 , this time making an appearance as Lord Shiva’s messenger. While the first part was led by Paresh Rawal, the sequel features Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in lead roles.
Sex education is a taboo topic in most parts of India and with OMG 2, director Amit Rai tries to put forth a debate around the inclusion of sex education in school syllabus. The plot of OMG 2 revolves around how an episode of masturbation in school takes a toll on the mental health of Vivek (Aarush Varma) and also a change in perception around his entire family in the society. When all hopes and fighting spirit is lost, lord Shiva sends his messenger (Akshay Kumar) to stand by the family in tough times and bring them out of the situation. The messenger motivates his father, Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi) to file a case against the school and several other mis-informants in the society. What’s the case all about and how Kanti Sharan Mudgal manages to break the taboo is what unfolds in OMG 2.
What works?
Credit where due, OMG 2 is making an attempt to put forward a topic which everyone within the industry would shy away from. The team deals with sex education and masturbation with maturity and manages to leave a message but in a very entertaining manner. The story telling is packaged with ample humour and dramatic moments in the courtroom, especially the second half. While the initial 20 minutes are used to set up the story, it picks up with Akshay Kumar’s introduction in the first half and follows a consistent pace until the interval.
There is a little dip in the initial second half, but again, the conflict intensifies and picks up very well in the final 40 minutes. An episode in the pre-climax in the hospital hits the right emotional note and has the potential to have tears roll off your cheeks. That’s followed by another hard-hitting monologue in the climax, which acts as a major clap trap moment, suggesting a sense of victory. There’s another empowering sequence in the climax featuring a sex worker.
All the portions featuring Akshay Kumar are refreshing and bring a smile. Unlike OMG (2012), this one has a unique way in which he helps his believer. In a clash scenario with Gadar 2, there’s a sequence in the second half that’s sure to be received well, acting as an easter egg to what’s happening. The dialogues are done well, especially the comic one-liners through the narrative. The biggest win for OMG lies in the fact that the story makes you feel for what the Vivek, Kanti and family are going through and redeems the belief in the finale.
What Doesn’t Work?
The courtroom sequences in the early part of the case are not as effective as one expected them to be and it takes a little time to warm up to the debate, more so due to the subject that the makers have in hand. Some of the sequences featuring the family in the first half tends to get a little loud on humour front. However, the larger scheme of what the film is trying to say, these drawbacks can be ignored.
Watch the OMG 2 Trailer
The comparisons are bound to happen with the first part, but it is going to be important for the viewers to watch OMG 2 as a standalone film. The topic of OMG was a lot more universal, but this one is a bit more on the taboo side and it’s not easy here to deviate from the conflict for comic relief. The modifications suggested by censor board of certain sequences and dialogues does act as a distraction, especially in the close-up shots. The production values are good enough for the genre of the film.
OMG 2 Star Performance
Akshay Kumar as lord Shiva’s messenger is integral to the proceedings of story and performances with utmost grace. His screen presence and dialogues never fail to bring a smile, and you can sense a feeling of accomplishment towards the finale. Pankaj Tripathi steals the show with his portrayal of Kanti Sharan Mudgal. He downplays himself in the first half and then rises to the occasion in the second half. He excels in all the monologues while fighting the case, and mouths all those one-liners in his typical poker face style. Yami Gautam as prosecutor Kamini acts well, however, the transformation arc of the character could have been tackled in a better way. Watch out for the confidence with which she fights her case – she carries the confidence in her body language. Child actor Aarush Varma does well in his role, and the same can be said for Pavan Malhotra, who plays a judge. Govind Namdev, Arun Govil, Bijendra Kala do justice to their respective parts. The rest of the ensemble too does well.
OMG 2 Movie Review: Final Verdict:
OMG 2 is a well-intentioned film that has its heart at the right place. The film educates without getting too preachy. While the courtroom debates could have been a little more exciting, the biggest W for the film is its ability to engage and entertain despite falling in the bracket of a ‘Taboo’. The irony of the situation lies in the fact that the censor board itself fell for the taboo that the film is trying to address and break. OMG 2 is certainly a film that could start some conversations that people are usually awkward to talk about and full marks to the makers for attempting a film on this subject. It’s also commendable for a mainstream movie star like Akshay Kumar to touch upon the subject of Sex Education. Recommended.

With Independence Day approaching, two big movies release OMG 2 and Gadar 2 . Followers of Akshay Kumar are present across the globe. Additionally, their anticipation for his cinematic creations always reaches an emotional pitch as they count down to each new release. With the unveiling of OMG 2, marking his inaugural cinematic venture of 2023, the spotlight converges on this offering. In this film, Akshay Kumar embraces the role of the emissary of Lord Shiva. Meanwhile, the ripples of controversy it has stirred with the censor board continue reverberating. Starring Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi, OMG 2 is the audacious attempt to bring a taboo subject with utmost modesty.
OMG 2 Movie Story
At the heart of OMG 2 stands Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a central figure whose essence weaves together the tapestry of this narrative. Kanti’s soul resonates with a profound devotion to Lord Shiva. Meanwhile, his demeanor mirrors unswerving sincerity, not only as an earnest parent but also as a dedicated husband. The spotlight shifts when his son, Vivek, finds himself unjustly stuck in allegations of moral transgressions, leading to his expulsion from school.
Moving on, during this turbulence, Kanti’s commitment to his role as a parent unveils itself as he unveils the layers of deception clouding his son’s reputation. In confusion, Kanti grapples with helplessness, his emotions a tumultuous sea. Soon he charts a course of action that leads his family away from the town’s suffocating grip.
However, as destiny’s threads unravel, a divine intervention bestows a revelation of truth’s radiant path upon him. He chooses to wield the sword of justice, piercing through the veils of deceit that ensnared his son’s innocence. He pledges to hold every culpable person accountable for their misdeeds. In a courtroom drama, Kamini Maheshwari (Yami Gautam) fighting Kanti Sharan Mudgal, Akshay Kumar, Lord Shiva’s messenger, comes to help Kanti Sharan Mudgal.
OMG 2 Movie Review
OMG 2 emerges as a cinematic endeavor unafraid to venture into territories the industry often treads lightly around. With a mature lens, the film boldly navigates themes of m*sturb*tion and s*x education, carving out a space for it that is usually in silence. Additionally, this audacious exploration doesn’t sacrifice its intent to convey a meaningful message, yet it ingeniously cloaks its wisdom in the garb of entertainment. This also ensures that the audience’s engagement remains unwavering.
Through a tapestry woven with strands of humor and dramatic courtroom theatrics, the movie dances along a path of rhythmic storytelling. Amidst this, the moments of emotional resonance pierce through, tugging at heartstrings until tears gather with emotion. The apex of the narrative also unfurls in a riveting monologue present in the movie.
The dialogues are meticulously crafted and a true gem in the narrative landscape. Meanwhile, the witty one-liners go very well with the story. At the heart of this tapestry stands Akshay Kumar, embracing his role as Lord Shiva’s messenger with a charismatic charm. His on-screen aura and his choice of words form a magical spell. Arun Govil is back on-screen with limited screen time.
Pankaj Tripathi takes center stage as Kanti Sharan Mudgal in the constellation of stellar performances. Yami Gautam’s Kamini, the prosecutor, becomes a character impossible not to fall for. She is one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in Bollywood currently. Meanwhile, the talents of Aarush Varma and Pavan Malhotra shine brightly in their roles. The cinematic symphony is further elevated by a musical score that sends shivers down spines. Director Amit Rai has done a great job with OMG 2. The film’s assets include a gripping plot, an engaging storyline, and top-notch performances. Sadly, the film that talks about s*x education has been awarded an ‘A’ certificate.
Final Verdict
OMG 2 emerges as a cinematic creation that comes with sincere motives and a benevolent spirit. This film gracefully imparts wisdom without succumbing to excessive pedagogy. A salute to the filmmakers for their courageous endeavor in crafting a narrative around such a brave theme. Meanwhile, every aspect of the movie is something you can’t resist. Everyone must partake in this cinematic experience.
This time, the expanse of the canvas is significantly vast in comparison to its previous ones. This also signifies the production company has a strong sense of assurance in this endeavor. From this vantage point, OMG 2 stands fully deserving of a hearty round of our acclaim. We give the film 4.5 stars out of 5.

OMG 2 Movie Review: Giving This Pankaj Tripathi Film An Adult Certificate Might Be The Most Dumbest Thing Done By CBFC, Dumber Than What They Did To Oppenheimer!
How many padmaavats more before we decide to modify how the censoring scissor works on our films.
Star Cast: Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, Akshay Kumar, Govind Namdeo, Pavan Malhotra, Brijendra Kala, Arun Govil
Director: Amit Rai
What’s Good: Bringing in a social cause mixed with accurate entertainment
What’s Bad: Every frame tries to remind you of the first one because it falters mostly every single time
Loo Break: Yep, before & after the film or during the interval
Watch or Not?: Try to watch it not thinking about the first one much
Language: Hindi
Available On: Theatrical release
Runtime: 155 minutes
A wise man once said “We all know the dangers of sequels. Lightning doesn’t strike twice in the same place too often, and think you’ve got to move beyond it, go the extra mile and have the courage not to just repeat the first one.” The man was Kingsman’s (the good one) Harry Hart Colin Firth and it kind of fits in well with a film that is important but somewhere suffers from the SCS (nope, not the rare congenital disorder) ‘Sequel Comparison Syndrome’. Let’s filter out the similarities first, Akshay Kumar is in a god-like avatar but this time he chooses to help not an atheist like Kanji Lal Mehta (Paresh Rawal) but this time it’s his favourite devotee Kanti Sharan Mudgal ( Pankaj Tripathi ). The link that connects both the Kanjis is that they both aren’t lawyers by profession but beats the best lawyers in town with the help of god.
By now, if you don’t know the story of this film revolves around a teenage son getting bullied and shamed for masturbation in his school, you need to read more about Bollywood (for that stick to Koimoi.com, nope I wasn’t paid extra to plug this in). So, an ardent worshipper of Lord Shiva Kanti faces an incident where he along with his son is shamed for the mentioned sub-plot; he decides to fight a legal case against the school designing an entertaining courtroom drama that would remain to be the best thing about the film also involving the defence lawyer Kamini (Yami Gautam).
OMG 2 Movie Review: Script Analysis
The first part was released with the solid backing of Bhavesh Mandalia’s Gujarati play Kanji Virudh Kanji & Billy Connolly’s film The Man Who Sued God. Umesh Shukla baked this brilliant concept of an ordinary atheist trying to sue god for the ‘act of god’. This time things take a turn in which the Lord Shiva’s devotee (as enforced by some great minds working at the CBFC) helps his favourite devotee not just win a case but also has the pressure of reminding people that m*sturbation is a healthy act.
The conflict is more real and it hits home mostly. Mostly because it loses the balance at times and things get too convenient to be true. One such case is the way Lord Shiva’s devotee’s character involvement with Kanji’s life is way weaker than what it was in Umesh Shukla’s film. Now, that might be because it’s the issue that plays the anchor here making the film strong and weak while helping and hurting it. The super interesting debates in the courtroom are laid on a weak base of building the conflict by Writer-Director Amit Rai. The defence is not that strong and comes across as preachy in the answer to Kanji’s well-thought attacks.
It preaches how Sanatan Dharma has been astoundingly modern for ages & how we should do everything possible to keep things as they’re intended to be also shedding light on how sex education is important for the betterment of society. How many Padmaavats more before we decide to modify how the censoring scissor works on our films?
OMG 2 Movie Review: Star Performance
Pankaj Tripathi proves how it is possible to not only fill the shoes of a flawless performer but also walk in swag while owning those kicks. Tripathi adds his magic which doesn’t let you remember that there has been a Kanji before. It also is because of the well-founded character sketch that he gets to do things in his way while keeping the soul of the character alive. There’s a scene in which he bows down to a sex worker and that’s exactly what we should do to the actor in him.
Yami Gautam does her best but she isn’t as lucky as Pankaj when it goes to having a solid backing of the script. She’s at the receiving end getting dumbed down every single time without letting her build a substantial defence. She’s the famous-yet-losing lawyer but flourishes in the conversational scenes with Pankaj going neck-to-neck with him. Yami is staunch, Kamini is not.
Akshay Kumar’s god-like avatar isn’t as involved but lends the right support to the protagonist. His connection with Kanji is one of the main reasons why I would pick the OG OMG over this on any given day. The innocence of Lord Krishna is replaced with the omniscient nature of Lord Shiva and he has played both equally well. He’s so on-point that you’d want more of his sequences with Kanji Bhai.
Govind Namdeo, Arun Govil aren’t as strong as the supporting cast we saw in the prequel and are just about adequate. Pavan Malhotra gets his moments to shine and he grabs each and every one of them. The actor playing Pranlal Mutho is hilarious and he deserved more screen presence.
OMG 2 Movie Review: Direction, Music
Amit Rai take the easiest route to execute the script. Apart from the subject that’s sensitive, not a single risk has been taken to make the film look and feel better than what it is. Some visual effects will take you back to the days of using Microsoft Paint.
The background score is so bland that it doesn’t help a single scene. The ‘damru’ bgm on Akshay’s character has been repeated throughout. None of the songs click.
OMG 2 Movie Review: The Last Word
All said and done, this film is brilliant in the ‘must-talk-about’ concept which tries to achieve things conveniently. I had all the plans to rate this a 3/5 but Akshay Kumar & team’s courage to serve a sensitive topic in an entertaining way deserves a .5 more for the vision.

Introduction.
OMG 2 Movie is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film that is a sequel to the 2012 film OMG – Oh My God! The film stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Arun Govil in the lead roles, along with Mithun Chakraborty, Paresh Rawal, Prakash Raj, and others in supporting roles. The film revolves around the life of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a school teacher who challenges the existence of God and the practices of religious institutions after he loses his family in a natural disaster. The film also features Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, who comes to Earth to help Kanti in his quest for truth and justice.
Plot Summary
OMG 2 Movie has a simple yet interesting story that keeps the audience interested throughout. OMG 2 Movie starts with a flashback of Kanti’s happy life with his wife Kamini and son Rishi, who are devoted followers of Lord Rama. Kanti, however, is someone who doesn’t believe in God or rituals. He teaches his students to question everything and not blindly follow anything. One day, his life takes a dramatic turn when a huge earthquake destroys his home and kills his family. Kanti survives but loses his trust in humanity and fairness. He decides to take God and all the religious institutions to court for causing him so much pain and suffering. He files a lawsuit against God and all the religious figures who claim to represent God on Earth, such as godmen, priests, maulvis, and pandits. He argues that they are responsible for spreading superstition, corruption, and violence in the name of religion. He also demands compensation for the losses he has suffered.
The film then shifts to the present day, where Kanti’s case has created a huge uproar in the society and media. People are divided into two groups: one that supports Kanti’s cause and one that opposes it. The religious leaders are furious and try to stop Kanti by any means possible. They also try to manipulate the public opinion by spreading false propaganda and inciting communal riots. Kanti, however, remains firm and fearless in his fight for justice. He is supported by his lawyer friend Hanif Qureshi (Paresh Rawal) and his journalist friend Meera Joshi (Yami Gautam), who help him expose the hypocrisy and fraud of the religious institutions.
Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva: Akshay Kumar reprises his role as Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is the destroyer and transformer of the universe, and also the patron of yoga and meditation. He appears in various forms and disguises to help the protagonist in his quest for justice.
Pankaj Tripathi
Pankaj Tripathi as Kanti Sharan Mudgal: Pankaj Tripathi plays the role of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a middle-class man who is unhappy with the state of education in India. He files a case against the government and the education board, demanding that they provide comprehensive education to all children. He faces many challenges and obstacles in his journey, but also receives support from unexpected sources
Yami Gautam
Yami Gautam as Kamini Maheshwari: Yami Gautam portrays Kamini Maheshwari, a lawyer who represents Kanti Sharan Mudgal in his case. She is a smart, confident, and passionate advocate who believes in Kanti’s cause and fights for his rights. She also develops a romantic interest in him along the way.
Arun Govil as Lord Rama: Arun Govil plays the role of Lord Rama, another major deity of Hinduism. He is the ideal king and the embodiment of righteousness, virtue, and morality. He is also known for his epic battle with the demon king Ravana in the Ramayana. He appears in the film to guide and inspire Kanti Sharan Mudgal in his struggle.
Direction and Music
OMG 2 Movie, directed by Umesh Shukla, successfully handles a sensitive and controversial subject with maturity and humor, striking a fine balance between comedy and drama. The film effectively delivers its message while also providing entertainment value.
OMG 2 Movie features melodious and soulful music composed by Himesh Reshammiya. The movie includes several popular songs that complement the mood and theme of the film. One of the catchy and upbeat songs is the “OMG 2 Title Track,” which introduces the film and its characters. “Teri Aankhon Mein” is a romantic and soothing song that portrays the love story of Kanti and Meera. “Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu” is a poignant and emotional song that reflects Kanti’s anguish and despair after losing his family. “Mere Nishaan” is a motivational and inspirational song that celebrates Kanti’s victory and awakening. Finally, “Har Har Mahadev” is a powerful and energetic song featuring Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva in his rockstar avatar.
Message and Verdict
OMG 2 Movie has a strong message that resonates with the audience. It questions the blind faith and superstition that prevails in the society and exposes the corruption and exploitation that happens in the name of religion. It also promotes the values of rationality, humanity, and spirituality that are essential for a peaceful and harmonious coexistence. It also encourages the people to seek God within themselves and not in idols or rituals. It also urges the people to respect all religions and beliefs and to live with love and compassion.
