If you’ve recently seen a Reel with a Siri voice, here’s how to add the same voice to Instagram Reels using Text-to-Speech.

1. Launch the Instagram app and capture or upload a video to Reel. You can also create a Reel with photos .

2. Tap on the Preview button. You will reach the video preview screen. Tap on the Aa icon to add text.

3. Type the text for the Text-to-Speech feature. Tap on Done or the checkmark icon.

4. The text bubble will appear above the video preview slider at the bottom of the screen. Tap on it and select Text-to-Speech from the menu. This feature is still rolling out to many users, if you can’t see it yet, you will have to wait.

5 . The Choose voice pop-up menu will open. Select Voice 1 or Voice 2 . Sadly, you cannot preview the voice here. Press Done and the voice will play. If you want to change the voice, tap on the text bubble again, select Text-to-Speech, and change the voice.

Tips to Use Text-to-Speech

Add background music.

You can add background music to the video to make the video more engaging. For that, tap on the Audio icon in the top bar. The Audio Controls screen will appear. Change Duration of Text-to-Speech

When you add text to your video, it will show up for the entire duration of the video. You can change its duration by dragging the right and left edges of the slider. How to Use Instagram Reels Voice Changer Filters

If you don’t want to use your own voice in Instagram Reels, you can apply the voice-changing filters to them. These work for both camera audio and voiceovers.

Here are the steps to add voice effects or voice effects to Reels.

1. Create a Reel by adding a video or capturing a video.

2. Tap on the Preview button. Next, tap on the Audio icon at the top.

1. Create a Reel video with audio in it or you can add a voiceover as well.

3. The sticker will start transcribing the text and show you the preview. Choose the font style from the available options at the bottom. You can also change the font and background color from the top icons. When done editing, tap on Done. Drag the caption text to change its position on the video.

How to use Instagram Stories’ new Captions speech transcription Sticker

Instagram has confirmed the rollout out of a new auto-caption feature for Stories, which will automatically transcribe words spoken within a video and add text as a sticker.

After a few users began to see the feature arrive within the app, Instagram has started the process of making the tool available to all users.

Once the new Captions Sticker has been applied, Instagram will automatically generate the caption based on the speech it deciphers within the clip. The caption can be edited for accuracy, spelling, style and colour before users post it.

When we at Trusted Reviews attempted to posted a video story today, we were informed of the feature via a notification from the Stickers tab. Here’s how to enable it:

1) Open Instagram and tap the + icon next to your profile picture in the top left corner to open the Stories interface. Select the thumbnail to choose the video from your or record your video within the app.

2) Once the video has been added/recorded, tap the Stickers option and select Captions from the list. If speech is detected, Instagram will use speech-to-text tech to quickly transcribe it.

3) You’ll see the words appear on the display, in sync with the pronunciation of them. However, there are other options you can select at the foot of the screen. To alter the colour, simply hit the wheel at the top of the display.

4) Tap the text itself to edit the contents and clear up any inaccuracies. Pinch in and out to make the text larger or smaller and use a finger to position it in the optimum place.

5) Post your Story as normal.

In a tweet today, Instagram confirmed the feature is coming to Reels soon too.

You can add Instagram speech to text as real-time captions to your Instagram Stories in the same way as you add them to a Reel. Here’s a recap:

Begin creating your story as you normally would.

Click the ‘ Sticker ’ icon in the top right of the story editing page.

Choose ‘ Captions ’ and Instagram adds your speech as text on top of your video.

Swipe through the different appearance options to choose your favorite.

Edit speech to text errors by clicking on the captions and typing the corrections.

Publish your story.

Unlike Reels, with Stories you can’t edit the captions to toggle on or off once it’s published.

Does Instagram Have Transcription?

Instagram does have built-in transcription in the form of auto-generated captions. You can add the caption option to transcribe Instagram Reels or Stories. There’s currently no option to natively add a transcript to the written caption underneath an uploaded video or Reel. If you want to include a transcript of the video in the written description, you could transcribe your video using Notta’s Chrome extension or Notta for Web. Then, copy and paste the transcription text into the Instagram description.

How Do I Transcribe a Video?

You can transcribe videos either manually or with an automatic tool like Notta.

Instagram has added text-to-speech and voice effects to its TikTok competitor Reels, two features TikTok has had for some time. The robotic voice-overs used as narration for videos grew so ubiquitous on TikTok in fact, that voice actor Bev Standing sued the company in May , saying it didn’t have permission to use her voice. In September, TikTok reached a settlement with Standing that included a licensing agreement.

While it’s popular among TikTok creators, more importantly, text-to-speech is a widely used accessibility feature that allows blind people and those with low vision to hear spoken versions of written text.

To use text-to-speech in Reels, open the Instagram app and go to the Reels camera, record or upload a video, and add text to the video using its text tool. Tap the text bubble to get to the three-dot menu, and select “text-to-speech,” then choose which voice option you want. Then post the Reel as usual.

If you want to add voice effects to your Reel, which lets you modify audio including a voice-over, after recording a Reel, tap the music note to open the audio mixer, tap “effects” and choose the voice effect you want. Options include “helium,” “giant,” and “robot.”

Reels launched in 2020 , meant to be a direct competitor to the wildly popular TikTok. If you’ve used TikTok before, you’re probably familiar with its text-to-speech and voice effects features. The same features are now available in Instagram Reels. You can use them to create videos with a robot or announcer voice. You can even add captions to your videos. Wondering how to do so? Launch the Instagram app and capture or upload a video to Reel. You can also create a Reel with photos.
Tap on the Preview button. You will reach the video preview screen. Tap on the Aa icon to add text.

The text bubble will appear above the video preview slider at the bottom of the screen. Tap on it and select Text-to-Speech from the menu. This feature is still rolling out to many users, if you can’t see it yet, you will have to wait.
The Choose voice pop-up menu will open. Select Voice 1 or Voice 2. Sadly, you cannot preview the voice here. Press Done and the voice will play. If you want to change the voice, tap on the text bubble again, select Text-to-Speech, and change the voice.
