Our Lady of Fatima University Quezon City

In 1996, Our Lady of Fatima University made its presence known in Quezon City with its new campus along Regalado Avenue in Fairview—- the Fatima Eye and Rehabilitation Center Building which also housed the Physical Therapy program.

In 1998, a new eight-storey building overlooking the scenic La Mesa reservoir was constructed. The acquired property goes back in history as the residence of the former Philippine President Elpidio Quirino. In its early years, several curricular programs were offered in the Quezon City Campus, namely: Education, Tourism, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Psychology and Biology. In addition, Basic Education (Elementary and High School) was also opened; housed in a brand-new, five-storey building.

This Fatima campus, soon known as the Hilltop because of its hilly terrain, constructed a few more buildings in 2003 and 2005 to accommodate the rapidly-growing student population— an affirmation of its acceptance by the people of Quezon City.

None too soon, two more buildings sprouted up along Regalado Avenue; this time, serving as the base for nursing laboratories, medtech laboratories, as well as the programs of business administration, accountancy and education.

Today, OLFU-QC Campus is home to 10 Colleges and a robust roster of programs.

To ensure that its program offerings are relevant and of quality standard, the University voluntarily submits itself to program accreditations. The Quezon City Campus is continuously monitored by various agencies to assess the programs’ compliance to quality standards. These accrediting agencies are the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Audit (PACUCOA) and the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU).

In June 2012, university-wide ISO implementation was put into action to further increase customer satisfaction, improve product quality, and achieve international quality recognition.

In 2018, the University became ISO 9001:2015 certified by the AJA Registrars. This prestige is evidence that OLFU’s processes and standards are at par with international management systems.

Quezon City Academy (QCA) , formerly known as Bago Bantay Academy, is a private educational institution in Quezon City. Founded in 1953, the school was sold to Justice Carmelino G. Started as petitions to have a higher educational institution for the youth at the National Government Center area from the community organizations and church groups and negotiations with local officials and other government agencies, the PUP Quezon City Campus is a pantheon of concrete success towards the struggle in people’s fight against ignorance. As enshrined on the Deed of Assignment on 24 March 1997, that is, “to establish a branch or an extension of PUP at the National Government Center with a mandate to bring quality education and subsidized tuition fees to the urban poor communities of Quezon City, with priority given to those from the NGCHP.”

Since its establishment in 1997, PUP Quezon City continues to produce quality and globally competitive graduates in the areas of education, information technology, management, marketing, entrepreneurship and office management technology. Likewise, true to the University’s mandate as Pamantasan ng Bayan, its graduate degree thru the Open University education system increased by offering two additional programs including the first program offering as practical alternative venue from PUP Main Campus, namely:

And to seal its official existence as an affirmation of the University’s commitment to democratize access to educational opportunities for economically challenged students of society, Republic Act 11347 , otherwise known as the “PUP Quezon City Campus Act” was signed into law on June 25, 2019 as a renewal of the same passion and commitment to “provide quality education to the urban poor communities of Quezon City and its neighboring localities.”

Guidelines for Admission

Quezon City Science High School offers Senior High School programs under the Academic Track which are Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) Strands.

The Application period is from February 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021.

For School  Year 2021- 2022,  60 slots will be opened to qualified students for STEM strand and 15 slots for ABM strand . Students from other science high schools, schools offering STE programs and from regular high school may apply.

Qualifications :

An applicant must:

be a member of his/her school's Grade 10 batch for School Year 2020-2021 at the time of application.

have no grade below 90 (any subject, any grading period) in Grade 9;

posses good moral character

be a resident of the National Capital Region (NCR) and currently studying in any secondary school within the NCR; and

preferably in good health and fit to undergo rigorous academic program as certified by a government physician.

*An invitation to be interviewed does not automatically guarantee acceptance to the Senior High School

The school will not accept transferees/applicants for Grade 12. The only entry point into QCSHS is Grade 11.

Students who have met the requirements for application, satisfied the Grade requirements and qualified to the top 60 applicants for the STEM strand and top 15 for the ABM strand after computing the grades in Grade 9 will receive an e-mail about the schedule of the virtual interview.

An invitation to be interviewed does not guarantee acceptance to the QCSHS-SHS. 

The School will not accept transferees/applicants for Grade 12 . The only entry point into QCSHS-SHS is Grade 11.

The total score for qualification will be from 60% for the Grade 9 grades in the abovementioned and 40% for the online interview.

Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) is a private university in the Philippines widely known for its paramedical courses. It was established in 1967 by Jose C. Olivares and his son-in-law, Dr. Vicente M. Santos. From the former Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, the founders transformed it into a training ground for healthcare providers paving way for the rise of Our Lady of Fatima College of Nursing. The University was recognized then as one of the top producers of passers in Nursing Board Examinations. OLFU continued its feat and expanded its facilities. It added other programs in its curriculum. Currently, the school has campuses in Quezon City, Valenzuela City, Antipolo, San Fernando (Pampanga) and Nueva Ecija.  OLFU Quezon City's quiet atmosphere offers the same brand of topnotch education as in the other OLFU campuses. Its suburban location provides a gentle, homely atmosphere while being minutes away from metro Quezon City.  Established for the greater Quezon City Area, easy transportation is accessed as the nearby community is bustling with activity. A sub-campus in the Regalado area is also in place, that gives students access to the Fatima Eye and Rehabilitation Center, a Fatima University Medical Center establishment.

Program Description

The Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSECE) and the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) programs of the Quezon City University adopts an outcomes-based curriculum as prescribed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and in accordance with CMO No. 101, series of 2018 and CMO No. 96, series of 2017 respectively.

Industrial Engineering (BSIE)

The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (IE) program is designed to prepare the student for professional work in designing, improving, installing, and maintaining integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment, methods, and energy. The curriculum covers the engineering and social sciences, principles, and methods of systems analysis and design, industrial management, and human behavior.

Electronics Engineering (BSECE)

The Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering course focuses on electronic design and implementation of systems, processes, and products in the fields of telecommunications which includes data communications and computer networks, satellite and optical fiber communications, computer programming and interfacing, electronics devices, and circuits, automation and process control, robotics, embedded systems, and instrumentation.

Admission Requirements for BSECE

To be admitted to the BSECE program, the students must be able to meet the following requirements: 

Entering Freshman

• Must have a general weighted average not lower than 82% in Senior High School 
• Must have a general weighted average not lower than 82% in the QCU Admission Test
• Must be of good moral character
• Must have grades not lower than 82% in the following Senior High School subjects: Mathematics , English for Academic and Professional Purpose , and Reading and Writing Skills

Retention Policies for BSECE

The retention policy aims to:

•  Increase the academic standards of the Quezon City University.
• Encourage the students to meet the minimum requirements of the electronics engineering field.
• Improve the probability of the Electronics Engineering graduates in passing the board examination.

To be retained in the BSECE program, the following policies shall be applied: 

A. On the 1st and 2nd year, a student admitted into the program must have no failing grades greater than 50% of the total units enrolled per semester for major subjects (technical courses as defined by the CMO 101 s 2017 Section 11.1). B. On the 3rd and 4th years, the university retention policy shall be applied.

Policies on Transferee or student/s shifting to BSECE program

A. A student shall be accepted in the BSECE program provided that he/she passed the QCU Admission Test with a general average of 85% and above. B. A student shall be accepted in the BSECE program provided that he/she has no grade lower than 2.25 or below 83% in all his/her subjects. C. A student must be of good moral character. D. A student must pass the interview and/or examination administered by the Dean or Program Chair, who will recommend for admission.
