Thinking of this trip gives me chills.

It actually gave tears to my eyes looking through all the photos for this writing.

While Miami is not the most popular backpack destination, keep in mind that this was before I considered myself a traveler.

At the time my comfort zone extended to choosing an Airbnb rather than a hotel.

I even booked a single apartment there in the beginning. But canceled shortly after when I found this thing called a hostel.

Not only was it more affordable but it also looked pretty decent. Shoutout to Posh Hostel South Beach!

And little did I know, this decision was about to change my life forever.

You Don’t Necessarily Need Anyone Else To Go Traveling

This leads us to one of the popular presumptions about traveling.

That you need someone else to travel, and you shouldn’t do it alone.

This belief held me back for some time too.

But there’s a reason solo traveling exists. It has its advantages compared to traveling with someone else (and disadvantages).

We’ll go in-depth about all that later.

Remember that solo traveling doesn’t mean you won’t meet people, it just means that you’re departing alone – not traveling alone.

A valuable lesson that traveling taught me was that loneliness is often a choice.

There are always people out there open to socializing. Better known as friends you just haven’t met yet (or more than that) .

In many cultures speaking to strangers is rarely without a little bit of awkwardness. My country Denmark is a good example of this.

But when you travel it can become the most natural thing in the world. Especially when you surround yourself with other travelers you’ll often meet at hostels.

If the thought of talking with strangers scares you, don’t worry. You’re not alone.

It’s rarely without a bit of excitement, but that’s also a compelling part of it.

I like to think of it as “the social muscle”. As soon as you warm it up, train it, and strengthen it, the easier and more natural it will get. Usually within a short amount of time.

And there’s only one way to achieve this.

Though a cliche Nike still got it right the first time with their slogan: “Just do it”.

Chances are you might even get hooked on the challenge and excitement about it once you get into it.

But if you want to take a smaller step first, a good way is simply by joining the activities and events managed by the hostels you’re visiting. Most hostels offer this.

Many of us have tried to stay in relationships for the wrong reasons.

This includes friends as well as partners, or even family.

One of the reasons can be the fear of loneliness. Or not having any alternatives to rely on. But a healthy relationship should never be motivated by this.

When you’ve had your first few successes with meeting people while traveling, you’ll gain confidence that there are always friends out there you just haven’t met.

And when you know you’re able to convert strangers into friends, chances are you’ll no longer feel reliant on any toxic relationship.

It also makes you more independent which helps in many aspects of life.

And if you’re traveling for a more extended period, or more frequently, it’s also easier to cut bonds with toxic people merely due to the geographic distance .

Why Traveling Is One of the Best Investments

Traveling is much more than ice cream and sunburns. As we’ve already covered a bit.

If you travel long enough, chances are you’ll be aware of the effects it has on a deeper level and other aspects of your life too.

There are a lot of opportunities for personal growth.

We’ll dig into all of that now. And round it up with a list of specific practical skills you’ll get the chance to practice while traveling as well.

Distancing yourself from the memories, habits, and relationships at home is one of the best ways to learn more about yourself.

We majorly get affected by our environment in everyday life. And sometimes it holds us back.

When we travel we have the opportunity to find inspiration from the people we meet. The cultures we experience. The places we go. And the things we try.

It’s all opportunities to inspire ourselves on the lifelong path of figuring out who we truly are.

And when we experience something we resonate with, it’s rarely without a reason. Whether it’s something new or familiar.

When this happens we should pay attention. Because it’s often an opportunity to adapt something good or meaningful into our lives for the better.

Immersing ourselves in a new environment is not only inspiring. It can also make us question how we already see or do things, and ultimately change them.

And the things we don’t want to change, we can just appreciate more knowing that it’s not necessarily a given in the rest of the world.

Another major way traveling can affect us is by realizing how much happiness there’s to be found in uncomplicated things.

And if we find happiness in the simple things, chances are we’ll end up with a happier life.

Visiting countries that are less rich financially, yet seem happier, is a good environment to practice this.

I’m not denying the financial hardship that challenges people in big parts of the world.

Actually, the struggle can be a part of the explanation. Because it can teach us to appreciate what we have to a higher degree.

Example of simple things that makes me happy when traveling:

Daily random social encounters
Meeting the friends I just haven’t met yet
Being a part of a like minded-communities
Hanging out with animals
Access to cheap, healthy, and tasty exotic foods
Explore new cultures and stunning nature
Feeling the sun on my skin or the sand below my feet at a warm destination
Driving a motorbike and the feeling of freedom it gives
Getting tipsy, partying, and dancing (or at least trying to)

A few years after my first solo trip to Miami, my primary goal was to become rich. I was sure that it was everything I wanted, and that all my problems would be solved once I achieved it.

Though it’s might worth mentioning I was only at the beginning of my 20s at the time.

Besides traveling other elements such as my best friend, growing up, and life experience also helped me to where I am today. On a happier path, I believe is more aligned with who I truly am.

And once you learn where you find your happiness, it will automatically affect your priorities, actions, and direction in life for the better.

Gratitude is undeniably one of the most – if not the most important factor in having a good life.

When we travel we get the chance to see our lives from a bigger global perspective.

This especially happens when traveling to countries with higher corruption, more dangers, and lower living standards than we’re used to.

The contrast can be an eye-opening and valuable lesson supporting us in realizing the fortunes we have and how thankful we should be for them.

Let’s just take an example of something that I bet most people never think about.

If you’re from the US, your passport belongs to the #2 best category out of #97 in the world .

This means you can visit:

115 countries without a visa
57 countries with a visa-on-arrival
26 countries with a pre-approved visa

Let’s compare this with a Chinese passport ranking in category #60.

With a Chinese passport, you can visit:

31 countries without a visa
52 countries with a visa-on-arrival
115 countries with a pre-approved visa

And that’s without comparing the worst-ranking passport on spot #97 (Afghanistan).

We can actually add numbers to the value of the typical western passport .

Most people with a few exceptions can buy the #23 ranked passport of Saint Kits and Nevis for $150,000.

This can give us an idea of what even higher-ranked passports would be if they had a price tag.

When you’re on the road you engage with people all the time.

By doing so chances are you’ll experience that most people have good intentions .

And the more people you meet, the more statistical significance you’ll collect supporting this belief.

If you consider yourself a good person, what makes you think the people you meet are different?

You’ve probably heard a wide variety of ways of people saying that the world is a dangerous place.

It’s important to be aware of where the preassumption comes from to question it constructively.

One of the reasons is that humans are naturally attracted to things that can threaten our existence.

And from an evolutionary perspective, this makes a lot of sense.

We’re investing our limited focus in becoming aware of potential threats to increase our chances of survival.

There’s a reason why 90% of the news in America is estimated to be negative .

A part of the explanation is that our brains are biased toward it.

But that’s not all.

On top of that, we also have to take into consideration “The Lottery Effect”.

The media are more likely to cover conflicts, tragedies, and dangers. Which we’re then more likely to consume and share as well.

But if it were possible to share all the positive things in between these negative events, we’d suddenly see the world more as it is – much more positive.

The problem is that if we don’t. There’s neither the possibility, resources nor time.

And this is where The Lottery Effect comes in.

If we heard about all the losers in between the rare millionaire Lottery winners. Most people would get a realistic view of their low winning chances and likely stop playing.

This effect can be applied to negative news as well.

So if you want to be more resistant to manipulation, it’s an important thing to keep in mind when interacting with any kind of media or gossip.

While the statistics are in your favor when it comes to the intentions of people around the world.

You still have to practice being aware and trusting your gut when exploring unknown territories.

It’s easy to project our reality onto the world around us. And if done incorrectly it’s called ignorance.

I’m guilty of this too. I’m an optimist, and like everyone else, I want what I believe to be true. But the result is that we’re fooling ourselves sometimes.

Some places are dangerous, and not assuming it for what it is, makes them a danger to you too.

I’m not only referring to crimes committed by people. But also nature, traffic, and diseases.

It can be easy to forget this when we as tourists often only scratch the surface of a country’s sometimes complex reality.

Do some basic research on the destinations you intend to visit. Stay aware of your surroundings and trust your gut.

Once your inner voice tells you something, there’s usually a reason for it.

And don’t be afraid to act on that voice even if it means rejecting someone or something, or creating an awkward situation (who cares?).

Better safe than sorry.

I think a lot of people are spending too much time working.

And I’m not referring to those that do it to make means and survive. I have the uttermost respect for that.

I’m referring to those that have the option of prioritizing differently to create a larger proportion of good memories rather than professional acknowledgment or money.

Besides the joy good memories initially give us when we first experience them. They can also be relived in our minds over and over again as much as we like.

And the power of the mind shouldn’t be underestimated.

Strong emotions such as fear, love, or hate can be recalled from thoughts alone. But the same goes for the joy of good memories.

Recalling them is a powerful tool when life gets tough. When we need to remind ourselves about what’s important in life and motivate ourselves to do the right thing.

Sometimes I like to visualize myself as an old man sitting in a rocking chair in the future (very original, I know).

If that time ever comes I know I’d rather choose to be rich in good memories, than money or professional achievements.

I know that you can have both. But the take is being aware of how much we’re willing to sacrifice one for the other.

Most of us would never think of mentioning our travel experiences on a resume when applying for a job.

This is weird considering the wide variety of skills it can teach us.

And the longer we travel, the more likely it is we’ll practice one or more of them.

Self-reliance
Adaptability
Leaving our comfort zone
Facing fears
Trusting our gut
Social skills
Self-confidence

All these skills are of high value in many jobs, or might even be necessary. But most importantly in many aspects of life as well.

Taking into consideration all the reasons why traveling is one of the best investments.

Then the potential of becoming the strongest you’ll ever be might not come as a surprise.

Like most other people I’ve been going through some dark periods in my life.

And without the experiences from my previous trips, I’d never have been able to accomplish the things I have today.

Traveling taught me how good life can be, and that the opportunity to do so is always out there.

It gave me something worth fighting for. Which are powerful especially when life gets tough.

I’m not sure where’d been today if it wasn’t for traveling.

This is a topic I think deserves more attention.

When you construct a house you’re not only focusing on the exterior and interior. Because without building a proper foundation first everything else is at risk.

It’s easy to use travel as a sort of escape from the problems we have at home. But most often the causes and solutions to these problems are found within ourselves or right in front of us.

Hence why we likely won’t solve them by moving geographically either.

Though sometimes a temporary escape is the best thing to do. Where the whole point is to get a break and relax to recharge your batteries and clear your mind.

But when it’s not chances are we’re doing ourselves a disservice.

Traveling is a powerful tool that should be considered as such with respect.

Therefore not having the opportunity to travel straight away can be a good thing. For example, in case we need to save up money first.

It can force us to deal with things at home that will help us grow and ultimately make our lives better.

Examples of things to solve before traveling:

Unsaid things or conflicts in our close relationships
Therapy sessions
Getting our health back on track
Finishing an important career opportunity
Paying off debt
Achieving unfinished goals already in progress
Getting things done we’ve postponed

The byproduct of solving one or more of these things is often inner peace and satisfaction.

Which also affects our travels in major ways. Our sub-conscience mind doesn’t forget that easily and will remind us about the things we haven’t dealt with.

And postponing things into the future, often just results in missed opportunities or worsening problems.

Even though it’s tempting to think of escaping challenges and problems by traveling forever, life is long.

We’ll never know what the future might bring. And therefore we should never burn our bridges.

Chances are that you’ll experience the excitement of traveling going up and down just like most things in life.

This necessarily doesn’t mean that you don’t value traveling as much as before. It just means that you might need to do things differently for a bit or take a break.

In fact, consider it an achievement if you’re fortunate to travel the distance and the time often needed to get to that point.

I have visited London several times, and yet it is amazing how I find something new to explore every time I visit the capital city. My visit last autumn too did not fail to surprise me. With the hustle and bustle and the rich royal history, London city has a lot to offer. Since I just had a few days to spare, I wanted to make the best out of this trip.

Although vast and sprawling, I decided to visit most of the city on foot this time. Now since in my previous visits I had seen most of the tourist-y attractions already, I wanted to take the path less travelled this time to discover the hidden gems of the city. The last time I had been to London, I had missed out on the chance to visit the chock full of literature and history that awaited me in the Shakespeare Globe Theatre. Being a student of literature, visiting the place where the Bard of Avon once enacted the plays he wrote was a spellbinding moment. And guess what? I also caught a staging of the Macbeth before I left the place. Before heading towards the Hyde Park tube station, I grabbed some of London’s famous Fish ‘n’ Chips from the oldest food market of the city, the Borough Market. From Hyde Park to Tower Hill in under fifteen minutes by Tube, I began exploring the Tower of London. It was there that I heard a guard speaking about where he hailed from. A quick conversation with Peter, I had gotten intrigued to know more about his village – Suffolk in Lavenham. I asked him how to get there and Peter, being the quintessential helping guide that Londoners are known to be, told me that I could either take a car from central London. Or I could wait for the next day and take the train from Liverpool to Sudbury and then take the bus route 753 and reach in around two hours. Having nothing to do, I spent that day in the British Museum and walking on Oxford Street.

The next morning, I started my journey to the quaint village of Suffolk. I had picked up a book about the village where I learned that the village had once housed Henry III in 1257. And a bonus for all the Harry Potter fans – the village also starred in ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ as Godric’s Hollow where Hermoine and Harry are seen to be visiting Bathilda Bagshot. On reaching the village, the first thing that grabbed my attention was the picture-perfect silhouette of prosperous medieval England with all the half-timbered houses. The lime-washed and brightly coloured buildings added an idyllic element to the village with the De Vere House standing out from the rest. Adding to the rustic touch was the fifteenth-century St Peter Church with its soaring height of a 141ft tower. The autumn breeze welcomed me as I walked on the leaf-covered high streets. I saw some young guns cycling around in a park and called out to them for directions. My stay for the trip was an Air BnB home-stay where I had to put up with an elderly couple – the Havishams. I still remember how on reaching the gate of the house, I had caught a waft of crumpets and hot scones. After an exchange of banalities followed by me gorging on the scones, I had found out about the hidden gems from Mr Havisham who happened to be quite a cheerful talker. He told me what a must-visit Hadley’s was when in Suffolk. I had then set out with a local map to find the hidden gem. On reaching I had found that Hadley’s was a cutesy ice cream shop, almost run down, run by an old lady. Here Rebecca told me how the ice cream parlour was opened back in the 1850s and was still known for their hand-made sorbets.

Like the sorbet, my stay in Suffolk had been a sweet experience – a trip of revelation. The tour – with all the lonely walks – had in an inexplicable way helped me to get my perspectives right. It isn’t the exotic locales and the flight above the clouds that make travelling my drug. Rather, it is little but beautiful discoveries like Suffolk that feed my wanderlust. Thank you, London. Why travel should be considered an essential human activity

Travel is not rational, but it’s in our genes. Here’s why you should start planning a trip now.

I’ve been putting my passport to good use lately. I use it as a coaster and to level wobbly table legs. It makes an excellent cat toy.

Welcome to the pandemic of disappointments. Canceled trips, or ones never planned lest they be canceled. Family reunions, study-abroad years, lazy beach vacations. Poof. Gone. Obliterated by a tiny virus, and the long list of countries where United States passports are not welcome.

Only a third of Americans say they have traveled overnight for leisure since March, and only slightly more, 38 percent, say they are likely to do so by the end of the year, according to one report. Only a quarter of us plan on leaving home for Thanksgiving, typically the busiest travel time. The numbers paint a grim picture of our stilled lives.

It is not natural for us to be this sedentary. Travel is in our genes. For most of the time our species has existed, “we’ve lived as nomadic hunter-gatherers moving about in small bands of 150 or fewer people,” writes Christopher Ryan in Civilized to Death . This nomadic life was no accident. It was useful. “Moving to a neighboring band is always an option to avoid brewing conflict or just for a change in social scenery,” says Ryan. Robert Louis Stevenson put it more succinctly: “The great affair is to move.”

What if we can’t move, though? What if we’re unable to hunt or gather? What’s a traveler to do? There are many ways to answer that question. “Despair,” though, is not one of them.

We are an adaptive species. We can tolerate brief periods of forced sedentariness. A dash of self-delusion helps. We’re not grounded, we tell ourselves. We’re merely between trips, like the unemployed salesman in between opportunities. We pass the days thumbing though old travel journals and Instagram feeds. We gaze at souvenirs. All this helps. For a while.

We put on brave faces. “Staycation Nation,” the cover of the current issue of Canadian Traveller magazine declares cheerfully, as if it were a choice, not a consolation.

Today, the U.S. Travel Association, the industry trade organization, is launching a national recovery campaign called “ Let’s Go There .” Backed by a coalition of businesses related to tourism—hotels, convention and visitor bureaus, airlines—the initiative’s goal is to encourage Americans to turn idle wanderlust into actual itineraries.

The travel industry is hurting. So are travelers. “I dwelled so much on my disappointment that it almost physically hurt,” Paris -based journalist Joelle Diderich told me recently, after canceling five trips last spring.

My friend James Hopkins is a Buddhist living in Kathmandu . You’d think he’d thrive during the lockdown, a sort-of mandatory meditation retreat. For a while he did.

But during a recent Skype call, James looked haggard and dejected. He was growing restless, he confessed, and longed “for the old 10-countries-a-year schedule.” Nothing seemed to help, he told me. “No matter how many candles I lit, or how much incense I burned, and in spite of living in one of the most sacred places in South Asia, I just couldn’t change my habits.”

When we ended our call, I felt relieved, my grumpiness validated. It’s not me; it’s the pandemic. But I also worried. If a Buddhist in Kathmandu is going nuts, what hope do the rest of us stilled souls have?

I think hope lies in the very nature of travel. Travel entails wishful thinking. It demands a leap of faith, and of imagination, to board a plane for some faraway land, hoping, wishing, for a taste of the ineffable. Travel is one of the few activities we engage in not knowing the outcome and reveling in that uncertainty. Nothing is more forgettable than the trip that goes exactly as planned.

Travel is not a rational activity. It makes no sense to squeeze yourself into an alleged seat only to be hurled at frightening speed to a distant place where you don’t speak the language or know the customs. All at great expense. If we stopped to do the cost-benefit analysis, we’d never go anywhere. Yet we do.

That’s one reason why I’m bullish on travel’s future. In fact, I’d argue travel is an essential industry, an essential activity. It’s not essential the way hospitals and grocery stores are essential. Travel is essential the way books and hugs are essential. Food for the soul. Right now, we’re between courses, savoring where we’ve been, anticipating where we’ll go. Maybe it’s Zanzibar and maybe it’s the campground down the road that you’ve always wanted to visit.

James Oglethorpe, a seasoned traveler, is happy to sit still for a while, and gaze at “the slow change of light and clouds on the Blue Ridge Mountains” in Virginia, where he lives. “My mind can take me the rest of the way around this world and beyond it.”

It’s not the place that is special but what we bring to it and, crucially, how we interact with it. Travel is not about the destination, or the journey. It is about stumbling across “a new way of looking at things,” as writer Henry Miller observed. We need not travel far to gain a fresh perspective.

No one knew this better than Henry David Thoreau , who lived nearly all of his too-short life in Concord, Massachusetts. There he observed Walden Pond from every conceivable vantage point: from a hilltop, on its shores, underwater. Sometimes he’d even bend over and peer through his legs, marveling at the inverted world. “From the right point of view, every storm and every drop in it is a rainbow,” he wrote.

Thoreau never tired of gazing at his beloved pond, nor have we outgrown the quiet beauty of our frumpy, analog world. If anything, the pandemic has rekindled our affection for it. We’ve seen what an atomized, digital existence looks like, and we (most of us anyway) don’t care for it. The bleachers at Chicago ’s Wrigley Field; the orchestra section at New York City ’s Lincoln Center; the alleyways of Tokyo . We miss these places. We are creatures of place, and always will be.

After the attacks of September 11, many predicted the end of air travel, or at least a dramatic reduction. Yet the airlines rebounded steadily and by 2017 flew a record four billion passengers. Briefly deprived of the miracle of flight, we appreciated it more and today tolerate the inconvenience of body scans and pat-downs for the privilege of transporting our flesh-and-bone selves to far-flung locations, where we break bread with other incarnate beings.

In our rush to return to the world, we should be mindful of the impact of mass tourism on the planet. Now is the time to embrace the fundamental values of sustainable tourism and let them guide your future journeys. Go off the beaten path. Linger longer in destinations. Travel in the off-season. Connect with communities and spend your money in ways that support locals. Consider purchasing carbon offsets. And remember that the whole point of getting out there is to embrace the differences that make the world so colorful.

“One of the great benefits of travel is meeting new people and coming into contact with different points of view,” says Pauline Frommer, travel expert and radio host.

So go ahead and plan that trip. It’s good for you, scientists say . Plotting a trip is nearly as enjoyable as actually taking one. Merely thinking about a pleasurable experience is itself pleasurable. Anticipation is its own reward.

I’ve witnessed first-hand the frisson of anticipatory travel. My wife, not usually a fan of travel photography, now spends hours on Instagram, gazing longingly at photos of Alpine lodges and Balinese rice fields. “What’s going on?” I asked one day. “They’re just absolutely captivating,” she replied. “They make me remember that there is a big, beautiful world out there.”

Many of us, myself included, have taken travel for granted. We grew lazy and entitled, and that is never good. Tom Swick, a friend and travel writer, tells me he used to view travel as a given. Now, he says, “I look forward to experiencing it as a gift.”

Isn’t this whopping great!, in Rs.6800.00 you can spend 4 nights 5 days in Bangkok – Pattaya . I was very delighted and thought now my dream will become true.

When I talked with my family, my father said: “Do you know what the cost of Bangkok- Pattaya trip is?” I was soundless. He told that the cost of Bangkok- Pattaya trip is around Rs.40, 000/-. This is a trickster nothing else. Dhamtrip is just fooling the people. How can one provide Bangkok- Pattaya trip in this amount! First I disappointed, but when I talked to others I came across the truth of Dhamtrip.

DHAMTRIP is a genuine travel agency. I read the reviews of Dhamtrip on Google. I didn’t find any fishy activity. If they are “Charlatan”, People would give some comments on Google. No one can leave such type of person easily. People should complain or write bad reviews about them.

I decided to visit Dhamtrip. First, my father was very anguish with me, but after my persuasion, resistance, and stubborn behavior, he ready to visit the office of Dhamtrip. When he met Ashokji (Owner), he realized that we were wrong. Ashok Jee was getting all our very carefully and then answered all the questions. He satisfied us regarding each and every term of the trip. He also gave some contact number to whom we could clarify whether Dhamtrip is genuine or not.

When we asked him how they provided such a reasonable trip when the same trip was available at Rs. 30000.00. He answered very confidently that our first motto to provide best services at reasonable rates and expand our network. More and more people connect with us. My margin is very negligible but when it is on a large scale, I will connect to more people and definitely earn better.

He elucidated that he started the business with the spiritual trip and gradually moves to International trips also. This is because of his clear perception to serve others with the best services. Now, we are planning to start the Europe trip also.

He made clear that with the help of its associates and working partners, he brought out this offer. Nothing is hidden in it. You would enjoy all the things mentioned in it. If you liked to avail any extra services, then you have to pay extra for it. Airfare and Air insurance are not included in it.

We have a little bit convinced and my father inquired about Dhamtrip in depth. But he didn’t find any suspicious about them. At last, he agreed to trip to Bangkok- Pattaya.

First World Trip To Bangkok Bangkok is an awe-inspiring place for holidays! I explored Bangkok and Pattaya on the internet. I got to know that there are numbers of beaches where one can have the benefit of natural beauty that gives a serene and touching environment. The tourists gratify in sunbathing, beach sports, comforting, and like to have a sip of coconut milk.

The first day we arrived at Bangkok Airport and there was a chauffeur waiting for us. We moved to Pattaya. It took around 2 hour’s journey. We were very excited. In Pattaya, we had check-in the Hotel Tycoon Suite. The hotel was very nice, neat and clean. Our rooms were great. I took the room from where we got a fantastic view. The rooms were very spacey and got all the amenities like Wi-Fi, LED TV, Bathtub, Sofa, Dining Table, refrigerator, etc. We had made round to see the hotel.

The hotel is newly built. It had an Indian restaurant where we enjoyed Indian food, a swimming pool in which we played a lot and the most important thing was that it was near to the market. There was a walking distance to the market of Pattaya. All the arrangements were exceptionally good.

The second day, the tour manager was come and explained that day schedule in the morning. He explicated that after breakfast we move to Coral Island. We got complimentary multi-cuisine breakfast. My mother is very particular about food and she liked the food a lot. The food was really palatable!

The coral island is approximately 7 km away from Pattaya. Subsequent to eating, we inspired an opportunity to ride in a speedboat in Coral Island. Coral Island is popular for the wonderful habitat having coral reefs with white-brilliant sand gives so much alleviating impact. In the speedboat, we appreciated the common excellence of the island and caught these excellent looks into the camera.

There were lots of other activities to do like parasailing, jet ski, hiking, shooting, Banana boat, etc. This was a half-day trip at the coral island. We enjoyed a lot. It was an amazing experience! First time I did the parasailing. It was great to fly like a bird. All the things seemed to be very small from the sky. After that, we did the ride on a banana boat. In starting the boat was slow and suddenly it took the speed. It seemed like we talked with the waves. Our boat cut the waves. It was really a heart-throbbing experience! My heartbeat was so fast even after the ride. They gave us a complimentary lunch also. There were both arrangements of non-veg and veg. There was a separate counter of non-veg. The tour manager told that both veg and non- veg preparation was totally separate. They were very careful that they mustn’t hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. The time passed so fast that we couldn’t notice that it was time to go to the hotel.

There was no specified program in the evening. We planned to see the Tiffany ladyboy Cabaret show. It is a transgender cabaret show that entertains the people from the last 40 years. It was an incredible show. It is placed on the fourth number for the top ten best shows of the world. Their stage, costumes, lights, and music were wonderful. We hold our breath to see the performances of the ladyboys. Nobody judge about them that they were originally men.

After the show, we relaxed at the hotel. The next morning we had to depart for Bangkok. All the things were made as per schedule. After taking breakfast, we proceeded to Bangkok. We saw two Buddha temples en route to Bangkok. The temples were very serene. The environment was so pleasant and calm; anyone could forget all his worries in this environment. It was a perfect place to meditate. Nobody wanted to move from there as it was so tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. Everybody liked to soothe themselves and spend some time there.

The first time I visited the Buddha Temple and my experience was unforgettable. There I got a chance to know more about Buddha and his philosophy. All the things were etched in my mind. All the way, we talked about the temples and memorable time spent in Pattaya. At last, we reached Bangkok. We had check-in the Hotel Howard Square. It was also as superb. Here, there was a small gym. My brother was very happy as he continued his exercise here also.

The next day there was no specified schedule. We were free. We woke up late morning and my brother went to a gym. We all were very tired as from the last two days we were traveling. We decided to go shopping. After taking our multi-cuisine complimentary breakfast, my father was talking to the Tour Manager to know where we went for shopping. How to go there? He suggested boarding on Skytrain and two-three places for shopping.

Bangkok is famous as a shopping paradise. We went to the Grand Palace and strolled nearby areas. We took pleasure on the road of Bangkok. There we had a Thai massage and went to Chatuchak Market and bought many items from there. The market was very reasonable. Thai people were so great. Everybody welcomed us and ready to help.

We planned for Cruise Dinner at night. My father talked to our tour Manager and he organized a trip for us. It was an exclusive event for us. It was a small voyage on the ship and enjoyed the dinner with music, lights and live performances. The dinner was appetizing. There was both veg and non-veg varieties and had separate counters. This arrangement was best for people like my mother who don’t touch non-veg. All the preparations were separate, neat and clean. Before that we were searching veg outlets for her otherwise she took fruits.

The Cruise is open from the top so we could perceive the skyline of Bangkok and its surrounding areas. My younger sister was busy to capture these moments in her camera. She was very engaged in the snap the photos of gorgeous Bangkok. After that, we had transferred to the hotel. We slacken off in the hotel.

The next day we had to depart for India. Our tour manager came to meet us. We all thanked him for such wonderful arrangements! All the things were as per the itinerary. We might get something extra but not less. We all were very happy especially my father who thanked me for my stubborn behavior to organize the trip.

After reaching India, my father made a call in Dhamtrip and thanked for an exclusive wonderful trip. Now, I and my family suggest Dhamtrip for any travel query. The 10-Step Guide to Setting & Achieving Your Travel Goals

Do you have a growing bucket list of dream destinations and experiences but never find the motivation or time to make them happen?

Well, I'm sure you don’t need our reassurance that a trip to Paris is always a great idea. But a dream without a plan is just a wish - and we're here to fix that!

We believe that everyone deserves to experience all that this beautiful world has to offer, and that the act of traveling makes each of us better, more well-rounded and open minded people.

It’s important to immerse yourself in your travel goals to actually make them a reality. By tracking your trips and keeping them visualized in your home, you are significantly more likely to stay motivated to save for, plan, and feed your desire to travel once and for all! (65% more likely, in fact - more on that below!)

With our 10 powerful ideas below, you'll soon be on the path to achieving your travel goals! Whether you implement all of these tips or just one, you're guaranteed to be that much closer to achieving your travel goals. But the more you actually implement, the faster you're going to crush that bucket list and see as much of the world as you desire!

1. Set goals that motivate you

Take a second and ask yourself: What is my motivation for prioritizing travel as an important part of my life? Is it to experience new places and cultures? To discover my passion? To escape from the daily grind? To jump outside of my comfort zone? Something else? WHY do I want to travel?

The answer is different for every traveler. But whatever fuels your desire for seeing the world, be sure it is kept top of mind each day. Whether you use one of our push pin maps, or simply a photo on the fridge, constant reminders are very important to achieving your travel goals.

2. Dream big!

Take an afternoon to sit down and create a “Bucket List of 100 Dreams” - a completely unedited list of 100 things you would like to do in this life. The sky’s the limit here so aim for goals a little out of reach.

This’ll be tough - and that’s the point! The beginning of the list may be loftier, long-term dreams. But by the last third it might be simpler things like visiting a state park an hour away - drivable getaways that you could accomplish on a lazy weekend!

You can utilize these to create some great momentum by checking off those smaller, easily attainable bucket list items, and then keep at it! Before you know it, you’ll be doing things that you never thought possible.

3. Narrow it down

You don’t have to start with the easy ones. It’s all up to how you like to operate.

Take a look at all of the goals on your bucket list. Now choose one of the places or experiences on your list and commit to it. When deciding which goal to tackle first, you can use the questions below to narrow it down and prioritize your goals, either by ease or by importance:

Which of the destinations are closest to me?
Which trip is the least expensive?
Which trip would be the easiest for me to take right now?
If I could only visit one of these places before I die, which one would I choose? With this question you’re pinpointing which trip you’re most passionate about.

Pro tip: You can take some of the mental juggling out of the decision by creating a spreadsheet and rating all of your list items based on the questions above. Add up their scores and the one with the highest score is your next destination!

4. Turn excuses into actionable steps

We’ve all heard (or even used) the excuses:

I don’t have enough money to travel.

I can’t get enough time off work to travel.

I don’t have anyone to travel with.

Every excuse can also be looked at as an opportunity. Squash those excuses and replace them with simple tasks:

I will create a budget plan to save the money I need to take this trip.
I will plan my time off work in advance to make it a priority to recharge.
I will find a tour company that caters to solo travelers if I can’t find a travel companion and don’t want to go solo.

There’s always a way to overcome your hurdles. You have to decide to stop letting them hold you back, and embrace the fact that you can overcome them.

5. Set SMART travel goals

It’s important to identify not just the difference between where you are and where you want to be, but to create a step by step plan to bridge that gap. Set SMART goals, which give you direction and help you organize and reach your goals. To make sure your goals have a high likelihood of success, each one should be:

Specific: Your goal should be clear and well-defined so that you can focus your energy on achieving it.

Ask yourself: Who, what, where, when and why?

Instead of saying “I want to travel more” or “I want to go back to Europe,” which are vague goals, clarify where, when and with who you want to go. An example is: “I want to visit Paris with my boyfriend for a week in May to celebrate our anniversary.”

Measurable: It’s important to have measurable amounts and dates attached to your goals so that you can track your progress and stay motivated, while feeling the excitement as you inch closer to your goal.

Ask yourself: How will I know when I have reached this goal?

Instead of “I want to stay for about a week and not spend too much money,” make your goal more quantifiable like “I want to stay for 8 days, 7 nights and spend xxx on flights, xxx on accommodations and xxx on experiences.”

Achievable: The goal should challenge you but not be entirely out of reach. It should be realistic and attainable to be successful.

Ask yourself: Do I have the resources and capabilities to achieve the goal? If not, what am I missing?

Choose a realistic trip to focus on first based on your current income and circumstances (vacation time, visas, distance, cost of flights, etc.)

Relevant: This step is about ensuring that your goal is important to you and that it also aligns with your other life goals.

Ask yourself: How much does this matter to me and is it worth the time and effort? Is it significant to my life?

Consider your travel style and how long you would want to spend in each destination. Does it make more sense for you to take a one-week 5-star vacation in Bali or a 6-month budget backpacking trip around South America?

Time-bound: Your goal should have a clearly defined timeline, including not only your travel dates, but also the stages of saving, planning and booking your trip and milestones for each. This step helps to prevent everyday tasks from taking priority over your longer-term goals.

Ask yourself: Is my timeline realistic while also creating urgency?

A good example is: “We can save $3,000 in 6 months but need $1,000 for the flight by January, $1,000 for accommodations by February and to book our activities by April.”

6. Write it down

Did you know that you are 42% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down?

This makes the goal real and tangible, taking the trip from abstract to concrete.

As you write, use the power-word “will” instead of “would like to” or “might.” This way you can visualize yourself achieving the goal. Hang your goals up on your fridge or mirror so that they are top of mind every day.

7. Immerse yourself in your goals

To keep yourself motivated for saving and planning for your travel goals, immerse yourself in them!

Make the inspiration visual! Pin your next destination on your map with a heart pin and add inspirational photos to your matching pin board. Create a vision board or Pinterest board with photos and blog posts about your dream destination. Surround yourself with people who have similar goals in your friend circle or in a Facebook community such as For The Love of Travel .

8. Tell everyone

Accountability is key! Sharing your travel goals with others increases your chances of sticking to them ( 65% more likely to achieve them !). And better yet, find someone to join you in your travel goals and stick together!

9. Take the first step

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step! Then on to the next step... and the next... If you try to conquer everything all at once, you may get overwhelmed and give up. Taking things one step at a time keeps things manageable - and achievable!

Remember, goal setting is an ongoing process, not just a means to an end. On a journey of a thousand miles, it’s easy to lose sight of just how far you’ve come. Build in reminders to keep yourself on track, and set aside time to review your progress.

10. Celebrate and repeat!

So you saved the money, booked the flight, planned the experiences and are off on your adventure! Congrats! Take some time to celebrate and reflect. Whether that’s writing in a journal, printing off photos, updating your push pin map , or collecting the post cards you sent yourself, take the time to let it all sink in. Then get to work on that next travel goal on your list!

The goal setting mentor

Travel goals: the simple 4 step method for achieving them. Plus 32 examples.

Travel goals are different than all other types of goals. They require a different system for setting and achieving them.

I love to travel, but if I don’t set travel goals I always end up on my couch at home.

So here is a simple system for setting travel goals which can help you visit the places you always dreamed of visiting.

The nice thing is that at this stage, you don’t have to worry if you have enough money or time. You just enjoy the enthusiasm of knowing that one day you will go there.

Here are the steps (warning: they are kinda fun)

Step1: Create a travel goals wishlist

First, you would like to create a wishlist . It’s like a list of your dream places to visit.

This is very similar to a “someday-maybe” places to visit list. You don’t have to set deadlines or make SMART travel goals (yet).

You just set an intention to visit this place someday.

You can constantly “refill” your travel goals wishlist when you encounter a place you may want to visit.

If you don’t have a wishlist, brainstorm based on continents. Think about travel goals for Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, etc.

Then record the list in your favorite note taking app (like Evernote or OneNote) or in your Moleskine notebook.

2. Create a vision board for all places. This is how you do it with your computer

What the mind can conceive, it can achieve. So, you need to “feed your mind” with the images of the places you want to visit.

If you like the old fashion way, you just print out the places you want to visit, cut them and put them on a large sheet of paper.

To find images, you just search for the place in Google Images:

If you want to get only high-quality images, click on “Search tools” and choose Large size images.

Here is how you can create a digital travel goals vision board.

Second, set up a slideshow for this folder. Here is how you do it with Windows 10. Every OS has similar settings, no matter if it’s a Mac or Linux.

Third, when you happen to find a great picture, just put it in the folder. It will start to show automatically on your desktop.

Step 3: Create a separate bank account and put 3% of your income in your new travel goals account

There is a famous money managing system by Harv Eker, which is called “money jars system”.

The idea is to set a “jar” or nowadays a bank account 🙂 and put a certain amount there after you get paid.

It follows the rule “pay myself first” and you don’t wait until some money is left. You have to put money aside when you are paid (e.g. get salary) and live with the rest.

So, decide how much money you are going to set aside – it may be 1%, 3%, up to 10%. But you have to put this money in your bank account each month regularly no matter what.

It will seem like magic , but after just a few months or perhaps a year you will have a bank account with money for dream holidays you never dreamed you could afford to visit.

In this regard, don’t let your limiting beliefs stop you from traveling

The biggest obstacle from achieving the dream life you desire is … You!

We all have some limiting beliefs. I hope you are at least not in denial and say “I don’t have limiting beliefs”.

I’ve heard it all: I don’t have the time. I don’t have the money. I can’t travel with kids. I have someone I have to take care of and can’t leave them…

These are all excuses and I just showed you how to eliminate the biggest one – money. Deal with all of them in the same manner.

Step 4: Review your travel goals wishlist during the yearly goal setting process

No matter if you use the “Goal buddy” goal setting system or not, if you regularly set goals, you would have something like a “yearly goals review”.

Take out your wishlist and consider choosing one of the travel goals as a goal you would like to achieve during the next year.

You would need to make this goal a SMART goal. It’s not anymore a wish, it’s more concrete now.

Create projects that can help you achieve these goals

Break down the goal in detailed projects with exact action steps.

Here are just a few examples:

Research time to visit / local places to visit
Research and book hotels
Research and buy tickets for travel
Trip preparation

That’s it. Repeat year after year and check off your travel goals wishlist

By just doing this each year, step by step you can visit all the places you want to visit.

I know people love examples, that’s why I will share my travel goals wishlist. Remember, this is my list. It will be completely different than yours.

Visit the “Lost City of the Incas” aka Machu Picchu

I don’t know why, but I am so attracted to this place. I have no idea why I want to visit Machu Picchu, but this one is on top of my list.

I am not a huge Gloria Estefan fan, but I often watch this video, because it has great pictures from Machu Pichu.

Explore Singapore and Thailand – accomplished

This one is accomplished. Me, my wife and two friends spent two weeks in Singapore, Phuket and Bangkok. It was amazing – very different culture.

Climb the highest building in the world – Burj al Arab in Dubai -accomplished

My education is in civil engineering and I am always interested in high buildings. What about the highest building in the world?

Visit the most beautiful beach in Greece – Porto Katsiki in Lefkada

Ok, I still can’t agree that someone will just label a single beach in Greece to be the “most beautiful”. There are so many great beaches in Greece.

But this beach in Lefkada is for sure one of the best beaches in Greece. I was there because my goal buddy Nikolay “forced” me to visit the beautiful island of Lefkada and I am happy he did.

Visit China

Great culture, great places to visit. Someday I will go there.

Thasos, Greece – accomplished

Maybe not on top of everybody’s list, but because of the location, which is near to where I live, I could visit this place.

Early in the mornings, while the kids were sleeping, my wife and I traveled around the island. Here’s a picture I took one morning.

Visit Madame Tussauds in London with my son – accomplished

I had a business trip to London and took my son with me to have what we call “dad & son time”.

He was just so impressed. This time together was priceless.

Explore Cappadocia by … balloon

Another very interesting place to visit.

Visit the beaches of Chalkidiki, Greece – accomplished

I love Chalkidiki. It has amazing beaches and very nice weather. I go there almost every year and can’t get enough of it.

It’s more or less a “recurring goal” for me…

Saint Petersburg

This is perhaps the most beautiful city in Russia. I will be there one day.

Snorkeling in Egypt – accomplished

I am not attracted to the pyramids, but the underwater beauty of Red sea is incomparable. I have visited Egypt 3 times and would like to go back again.

A lot of friends told me that Berlin is great. I will have to check it out.

Holiday in Antalya – accomplished

Just like Egypt, Antalya in Turkey is great for holidays. I was there and I had the feeling I was in paradise.

San Francisco

Looks like a place I want to visit someday.

Visit Paris – accomplished

Explore rome – accomplished.

Great city, amazing food. Here is a picture I took outside of St Peter’s Basilica.

I want to visit this place.

Prague at Christmas time – accomplished

I felt as if I was in a fairy tale. Prague, especially at Christmas time was great. The atmosphere is unbelievable.

Check out the city that never sleeps, New York

I’ve heard, listened to and read so much about this place, It would be a shame if it’s not on my list.

Istanbul – accomplished

The city is spread over two continents. It’s partially in Europe, partially in Asia.

It was a strange mix of cultures there.

Maybe not so far in the future…

I am somehow attracted to this place and I would like to explore it more.

Vienna at Christmas time

After promoting Prague at Christmas time to so many people, some of them recommended Vienna. It should be also great during this time of the year.

Italy is warm and their food and wine are great. Time to check out Venice.

Visit the Cologne cathedral – accomplished

Disney land.

Looks perfect for a family holiday. I still haven’t been there.

Gaudi’s work in Barcelona

Immediately after I visited Cologne, I knew one day I will visit Barcelona. I wanted to check the work of Gaudi.

It’s a city that one could easily fall in love with.

I love the beaches and the sea. Someday I have to check one of the most famous places on earth in this regard.

Beer fest at Munich – accomplished

Wow – what and experience. I am sorry I can’t find my pictures from it…

Walk trough Budapest

After visiting Prague, I wanted to visit similar cities and Budapest seems like a good choice.

Sicily, Italy

Looks like an interesting destination.

A friend recommended me this place and it looks enough exotic to be on my list.

Dream of Traveling the World? 8 Reasons Why You Should Go for It.

If you ask me how many countries I’ve been to, I’ll say “Not many.” I like to take it slow, because my whole life has always been moving at a fast pace, and I find myself needing to catch up with the hectic lives and new changes around me.

Traveling gives me the opportunities to do the things I’ve always been eager to try, and live the kind of life I’ve always dreamed about. I quit my job in 2015 to focus on my travels. I wanted to see more of what the world had to offer.

I’m not telling you to quit your job, too. Go whenever you can, even if it means traveling seasonally. A seasonal traveler is still a traveler! If you wish to work while you travel, you can try taking freelance work on the go.

Whether you’re keeping that full-time job of yours, or quitting it to travel full-time, here are 8 reasons why you should pack your bags and start traveling.

1. New adventures await you

Travel gives you the opportunities to explore new things. They can be the places you’ve always dreamed of visiting, the cultures you’ve read about in your history books, the world’s highest bungee jump you’ve been wanting to try, and so on.

Whatever it is you’re looking for, find it along the way, and enjoy every moment. The world is a wonderful playground. Of course, you must remember to always travel responsibly, no matter where you are. Hit the road as soon as the chances roll in. You’ll never know what you might find out there!

2. Travel gives you empathy for the world’s problems

How much do you know about the world? Before I started traveling, I knew very little about the world. Although I never really understood the pains of others when I saw the news, I began to feel them when I witnessed them myself for the first time.

Traveling has exposed me to a world so alien from mine. I became more curious, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the world and about life. The experience has also made me more humble and appreciative. Yes, the world is indeed a place that holds many mysteries. Want to enter the school of life? Travel.

3. It motivates you to give back

When we travel the world, we may just realize how much we’ve taken for granted the things we have, which others might never get to enjoy or experience. My journey to Laos made me realize how fortunate I was to be given a chance to have a safe neighborhood to live, clean water to bathe, a chance to go to school and graduate from college and so on.

Many of the people from the 3rd world countries I visited were very humble, helpful and generous, which also made me realize that the ones who don’t have much are usually also the most generous. It inspired me to give back to society. You, too, can help someone today.

4. New friendships along the way

During my travels, I’ve made many new and meaningful friendships along the way. The best thing about it was many of the people I met on the road are very similar to me. We share similar interests, we enjoy doing things together, we have more or less the same kind of mindset, and we believe in helping others.

We may come from different countries, have been raised in different cultures, or follow different philosophies in life, but we embrace each other’s differences and similarities. We even fell in love. Today, we still make trips together, even if it means meeting each other halfway around the world.

5. It trains you to be tougher and more independent

Our minds sometimes make us underestimate our true talents and capabilities. Just because we have the abilities to do many things, doesn't mean we are capable of doing them. Sometimes, it take tough times to bring the best out of us.

I used to think that I’ll never be able to travel due to insufficient funds, yet I still followed my dreams, even if it meant I had to travel beyond my means. Tough conditions taught me to be mentally, emotionally and physically tougher. I admit that I still find myself crying in a corner sometimes, but I always pull myself together in the end.

Indeed, traveling made me appreciate the individual I am, and can become. If you’re a solo traveler, you might also start to appreciate the joy of being alone, and realize that your happiness doesn’t need to depend on someone else.

6. You learn to be better at handling money

When I started my first solo trip, I didn’t have much money. I was worried if I didn't have enough for my journey — or if anything happened to me, I won’t have anyone to lean on. I also felt insecure when I quit my job to travel (with no plan of coming back home anytime soon) and only had US$200 in hand.

Let me tell you this: I wasn’t very young when I started doing all this. While I was on the road, I never stopped looking for opportunities, be it finding money, freelance work, or any kind of employment in a foreign country. Everyday was a challenge, but that was what kept me going. Since I didn’t have much, I learned to be more prudent with my money, and not only did I find ways to save, I also taught myself how to make money while on the go.

7. You can inspire others

I’m not sure if anyone has ever inspired me to travel. Back then, I rarely had access to social media. Therefore, I hardly saw inspiring stories and pictures like the ones I frequently see today. I guess I was inspired to travel more after my trip to the Philippines, which was the first overseas country I visited.

I had a penpal who lived there, whom I wanted to meet. After the wonderful experience in the country, I realized that I should explore the world while I’m still young and strong. I also realized that traveling isn’t just about visiting nice places, but also learning about other other cultural differences, global sufferings and more — and that life isn’t just about going to school and getting a job.

8. It pushes you out of your comfort zone

I have to be honest with you. Traveling isn’t always easy, and sometimes your travel journeys are like the scenes of a drama series. No joke. I suppose that’s why I like traveling. I love the thrills and adventures it offers.

Hard times on the road have shaped the way I think and how to help myself, and improve my survival skills. Of course, I didn’t learn all these by myself. My problems were my teachers, but they’re weren’t the only ones.

The people I met were also my teachers. Some of them were trouble, and some of them were my heroes. Although I was in the Girl Guides’ club in school, I never learned how to make a fire. I was just a silent member of the group. Many years later, I learned how to do it in the woods, when I actually went camping in the wild.

Since I can’t take everything I own with me, I also learned to feel less attachment to my things. I also learned to adapt to new things, even when they don’t always make me comfortable.

We often think that the world is a big, scary place; but, we must not judge it too quickly before we explore it. Go out and explore the goodness that the world has to offer, and you’ll enjoy every moment of it.

Go travel. If not today, perhaps tomorrow is a good day to begin! :)

Why I Love Traveling

Hi. I’m Lisa and I love to travel. Plain and simple. And it’s a passionate affair, not hyperbole. I had to write this ‘why I love travelling’ essay to try to express how much I love travel. I started this blog in 2006 to document my trip around the world. Now I’ve been to more than 60 countries and counting . My travels have changed and shaped my life.

Ever since I was a kid, I had a sense of adventure. Just going around the ‘next bend’ on my bicycle, to see what was there, was exciting. And then as adult, it got the best of me and I quit my job as an Emmy award-winning TV producer, sold most of my stuff, and took off to travel around the world for two years. I never thought I’d do something like that. It was a pipe dream. It seemed impossible. Until..it wasn’t.

In most cases, traveling is cheaper , easier , and safer than you think.

I have always loved the adventure of travel — the unknown, something different, something new. And I feel the same way today… even though now the ‘next bend’ may be on another continent. I have been extremely lucky to continuously feed my passion and love of travel. Many out there share my passion while others do not. Looking back I can recount how I developed this travel bug . But, why do I love traveling so much? Here’s my ‘I love travel essay’ to try to explain this magic of travel!

1. I love the excitement of traveling

I love the excitement of it all — feeling like an explorer — discovering a new land, a new language, new money and all the little challenges that go along with it. When I travel, I am more spontaneous and don’t live for the future or the past… just in the moment. Being impulsive and saying ‘yes’ to nearly everything is part of the fun.

2. I love the adrenaline rush of traveling

I love the rush . Habitual runners get off on the kick-in of endorphins that give them that extra boost they need to keep going. I get the same jolt from a day of travel or an unexpected side trip to a new and undiscovered land (for me… not for all mankind) that I hadn’t planned to visit. Traveling seems to give me a near constant adrenaline rush. After a few years of uninterrupted travel, I became quite addicted to this feeling. Traveling can be a challenge, but to me, a fun challenge that I enjoy conquering time and time again. Plus it sure beats having to vacuum, pay bills, or shop for toilet paper.

3. I love learning new things

I learn so much from travel . World travel broadens your mind in so many ways. You meet new people, share new experiences, and let down your guard much more than when back at home caught up in the mundane day to day routine of life that we think is normal. I get to see how the world lives. I see the sun and smiles in Israel that go way beyond the CNN clips. I learn about the differences and embrace the similarities. I am not there to complain about how it is ‘so different than back home,’ but rather to appreciate these dissimilarities. Just because something is different does NOT mean it is wrong and in many cases it can even be better. And, the people I meet get to know a bit about me, my world, and my background which can help dispel some other stereotypes as well. And now, some headlines I may have not noticed in the past, grab my attention. I’ve been to these places and have experienced their generosity. Now I’m much more interested and aware of what is going on there.

4. I love the l ogistics of traveling

I like landing in a new place and trying to figure it all out myself. Where to get money. How to speak the language. How to go from point A to point B. How to pack my bag right so I don’t go insane after packing it for the 135 th time. Well, okay, maybe I don’t love that mundane task, but I still figure it’s better than all the tedious chores I left back home when I decided to travel. It all actually becomes easier and easier as it goes and gives you the sense of confidence that you can do anything. If I can plop down in an airport amidst the chaos of Cairo or hubbub in Hanoi and manage to get myself into the heart of town and find a place to stay, all the while, not getting ripped off and keep my sense of humor, then I am certainly not really worried about being able to go anywhere, anytime.

5. I love the simplicity of it all.

My only job is to go somewhere and figure out how to do it. My to-do list is rather short: figure out the exchange rate and get cash out of an ATM, figure out a few key words in the native language , figure out transport to my lodging and around town, exchange books (find English used bookstore), do laundry every 2 weeks or so. Because I travel for longer periods, occasionally I also have to: get a haircut and buy new clothes to replace ratty, holey old ones.

Everything you own is with you in one bag . You only have a few pairs of pants or t-shirts, so getting dressed each day is an easy task. The more we have, the more it seems to weigh us down. Your life isn’t complicated by all the nonsense that is back home. But, guess what? If you really need a new shirt or shoes… you can buy it anywhere in the world. There is not much we actually really need and I think in this mega-consumerist society, we too often forget that. You need food and you need shelter… that’s about it. I enjoy some love, laughter, and happiness too… but that’s free and takes up no space in my luggage.

6. I love meeting new people all the time.

In no other time in my life have I met so many people and made so many new friends in such a short time. The world is full of friendly, generous people. Sure, every place has its share of nitwits too, but as a traveler, you seem much less likely to meet them. Maybe because people want to help you or maybe because you just don’t know some people long enough to uncover their schmuck-like tendencies. Since the nature of travel is to keep moving, these folks never become boring… because you simply don’t know them long enough to discover their flaws or get sick of them.

7. I love the freedom .

I experience a great feeling of independence from traveling solo . I can go wherever I want, whenever I want. I can sleep in. I can stay out late. It’s all up to me.

All this also shows me how easy it would be just to live somewhere else… anywhere else really. Staying in each place for an extended bit of time taught me how I could make friends, find work, and find a flat all rather easily. Things that I would have to do if I was living there anyway-so, in many ways, for all intents and purposes it’s as if I was living there already.

I think traveling is incredibly important. It increases tolerance because you actually meet people from different cultures and learn that they are not so different from you.I wish that I could travel far more but I can't afford it! Great review !

I quoted that same Mark Twain line to a friend some time ago and he replied, "There was never a safe harbor." At the time I thought he was just being antagonistic, but I see that it was very true. we could get run over by a bus any day of the year. our heart can get broken in any city in the world, and every day people go to sleep and never wake up. I think his pessimistic response is just more of a reason for everyone to go see what the world has to offer them.

I just love travelling just the very thought of getting to an unknown desination is enough to get me excited. Unfortunately iam not able to travel all due to certain circumstances and culture… i envy those people who truly understand the importance and need to able to let yourself go and even if busy in the day to day life are able to take some time away for their soul:) its an enrichment process in my opinion… i hope it changes and i am able to do some travelling if not too much… thx for the lovely insight i enjoyed reading it:)

Every person has a dream, my dream was broken and shattered. I used to love travelling, every day i always used to ask my parents, Can we go somewhere new? The truth was, I was so badly addicted that i started leaving in a dream world of my own. I used to draw photos of south america, used to look up all the facts.. but deep inside I forgot that reality is so bitter. The place I was living was alright, but soon it became depressing. I felt like life without travelling for just a few moments would ruin my life. The people I started meeting in different countries made me feel like i belonged there, not here. My happy memories travelling? I cry whenever i think of it again. I feels like being locked in a cage, full of darkness. Every month i'd wait for my holidays, cry and plead my parents to at least take me to a nearby country. No one understands how much i love travelling, and you know? One day Im going to get there. Im going fufill all my dreams because You only live once. That's all to say.
