Connect Movie Review: Nayanthara shines in technically brilliant horror thriller that is regular fare
Connect is directed by ashwin saravanan who has worked with nayanthara in maya. nayanthara and her husband vignesh shivan have produced this film. scroll down to read our review..
Listen to Story
- Anupam Kher is part of this interesting horror thriller.
- The movie is set in the times of the Covid pandemic.
- Connect features Haniya Nafisa as Nayanthara's daughter in this film.
Release Date: 22 Dec, 2022
Susan Joseph (Nayanthara) and her family are enjoying a wonderful break at a beach resort when her doctor husband, Joseph (Vinay Rai), gets called back to work urgently. It’s the outbreak of Covid-19 and Joseph ends up working 24/7 trying to provide care for the Covid infected patients. Meanwhile, Susan and her teenage daughter Anna aka Ammu (Haniya Nafisa) are confined to their home. The only way all of them can keep in touch with each other - and Susan’s father, Arthur (Sathyaraj) - is via Internet and video calls.
Unfortunately, Joseph contracts Covid as well, and passes away in the hospital, leaving his family shattered. He becomes a Covid warrior like thousands of others before and after him. A distraught Ammu, who never got to physically hold her father or even see him before he died, decides to reach out to him through a seance with an ouija board. And this is when things take an evil turn. Does she get to speak to her father? What happens next forms the crux of the story.
Connect is director Ashwin Saravanan’s fourth film and third horror flick. He’s working with Nayanthara for the second time (Maya was their first film together). He has aptly chosen the times of the pandemic to set this horror thriller in. There are flashes of brilliance in the film, but the thrills are few and far between. And this is what hinders the experience. Comparing his work in Connect to Maya and Game Over, one feels this is less true to who he is, as it is an average fare compared to his previous films.
Nayanthara delivers an outstanding performance as always, but young Haniya Nafisa is the surprise package. She has pulled off a somewhat difficult role with such ease and excellence, which shows remarkable acting maturity. Full props to Ashwin for selecting her for the role of Ammu. Sathyaraj and Anupam Kher lend a lot of value to the film as well.
Connect is based on the strong connection between a father and daughter, as well as Internet connectivity, obviously. We wish though that Ashwin had focused more on the mother-daughter bond as well as they are the ones who take the story forward and hold us throughout the film. Hence, in this case, emotional investment becomes limited, and the film enters the horror genre like The Exorcist or The Conjuring. Connect, unfortunately, just didn’t have enough thrills - like those films - to be classified as a pure horror film either.
Technically, the movie is brilliant. The cinematography by Manikantan Krishnamachary and music by Prithvi Chandrasekhar take the film up several notches. Editing by Richard Kevin must also be appreciated.
Produced by Rowdy Pictures, Connect is a film that belongs to Haniya Nafisa and the audience will remember her for a long time to come.
3 out of 5 stars for Connect.

Connect movie review: Nayanthara’s latest is technically sound, true-blue genre film
Connect movie review: ashwin saravanan delivers breathless thrills during the nayanthara starrer but the flat end takes something away from it..
They are a picture of happy family when we meet Susan ( Nayanthara ), her husband Joseph (Vinay), and their daughter Anna aka Ammu (Haniya Nafisa) for the first time in Ashwin Saravanan’s Connect. Covid is still the stuff you only see in dystopian films, and the family is at the beach, happily making plans about the future of their music-obsessed daughter.
Like lakhs of others, the pandemic destroys the dreams of this family as it hurtles through their life. Susan and Ammu are confined to their home during the lockdown while Joseph, a doctor, toils relentlessly to help Covid patients. He succumbs to the virus, and a devastated Ammu resorts to black magic to connect with her dead dad. Things don’t go well, and she ends up being possessed by a demon. On top of that, both the mother and daughter test positive for the coronavirus , which cuts them off from the outside world.
Connect doesn’t rely much on the plot as much as it does on its technical brilliance and astounding sound design. Ashwin has had a firm resolution about staying true to the horror genre and hence doesn’t really experiment with the story. The screenplay pans out exactly how you would expect it to. However, the breathless thrills that you are served with distract from the generic story. You expect the climax to be the high point of the film, but it never builds up to a crescendo.
In a way, that doesn’t seem to be what the director was going for with Connect. Despite all of the scares and technical bravado, Connect in its essence is about Susan’s character arc. Arthur (Sathyaraj), Susan’s father, pleads with her to have some belief in God. A friend tells her to have some kind of anchor in such trying times. Her final resolve to ‘believe’ was supposed to drive home the point, but it is not clearly etched out. It’s because we don’t really see her be one big skeptic in the first place. Or even the subtle depiction of her changes is eclipsed by the conspicuous technical work of the film.
Enough ink will flow while praising the technical brilliance of Connect, and it will be in no way unwarranted. The performances of Sathyaraj and Nayanthara make the film work. Even Anupam Kher as the Father, who only takes a brief screentime, makes us feels safe. With a few more tweaks in the screenplay, Ashwin Saravanan could have easily made a film like Searching (2018) or C U Soon (2020), as Susan’s video calls are used as a narrative device, and cinematographer Manikantan excels at pulling off this gimmick.
The biggest achievement of Ashwin Saravanan’s Connect lies in how, despite being a horror film, it is in touch with reality. While it’s true that cinema is seen as an escapist medium to forget the woes of the real world, there has been a total disconnect between the existing pandemic world and that of our Tamil mainstream films. Connect, living up to its name, finally bridges that gap by empathising with the ones who suffered during the pandemic. It takes us back to the times when we were confined to the four walls of our homes, fearing a threat we couldn’t fully fathom. Undoubtedly, it is in a sense triggering to see the character go through the same ordeal as we did, but it is also in a way cathartic. Again, it is pretty amusing that of all kinds of Tamil mainstream cinema, a true-blue genre has represented the ones that are still grieving.

Connect Review: Weak Content, Strong Technique
Movie: Connect Rating: 2.5/5 Banner: Rowdy Pictures, UV Concepts Cast: Nayanthara, Sathya Raj, Anupam Kher, Haniya Nafisa, Vinay Rai and Others Music: Prithvi Chandrasekhar Director of Photography: Manikantan Krishnamachary Editor: Richard Kevin Producers: Vignesh Shivan Directed by: Ashwin Saravanan Release Date: Dec 22, 2022
Nayanthara has actively promoted her film in Telugu for the first time since "Connect" produced by her husband.
Let's take a look at the pluses and minuses.
Story: Teenager Anna (Haniya Nafisa) loves music and wants to pursue it professionally. Dr. Joseph (Vinay), Anna's father, is supportive of her decision, but Susan (Nayanthara), Anna's mother, is opposed to the idea of sending her daughter away to foreign school at such a young age.
A lockdown was announced due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases the day after this conversation takes place in their home.
Dr. Joseph contracted COVID-19 while caring for his patients, and he ultimately passed away from the disease. A few days into the quarantine, both the mother and the daughter have tested positive for the virus.
Anna's grandfather (Sathya Raj) learns that his granddaughter is possessed during a video call. Susan's response to this challenge drives the rest of the plot.
Artistes’ Performances: Newcomer Haniya Nafisa amazes with her natural acting and expressive face. It's a tough part for a debut actress to take on, but she does it with ease.
Nayanthara gives a nice performance as a concerned mother. Veterans Sathya Raj and Anupam Kher carry off their roles with ease, and Vinay Rai makes a brief appearance.
Technical Excellence: The technical crew has put in a lot of work to ensure a visually and aurally stunning experience. Special mention needs to be made for the cinematographer and the music director.
The cinematographer successfully captured the film's experimental narrative style by shooting almost entirely in natural lighting. It has an effective score in the background.
Highlights: Narrative style Newcomer Haniya’s acting Short duration
Drawback: Predictable story Lack of strong emotions
Analysis The movies "C U Soon" and "Searching" are examples of those that tell their stories on computer screens and smartphones. “Connect,” starring Nayanthara, also has the characters communicating exclusively through digital screens.
The majority of our exposure to the drama occurs through digital means, such as tablets, smartphones, and video chats.
Neither the Tamil nor Telugu film industries have ever attempted anything like this. ‘Game Over’ fame Ashwin Saravanan successfully introduces this novel approach.
Having said that, the film's plot is flimsy. In fact, the entire plot is reminiscent of numerous other horror films, especially the parts where the young girl seeks the help of a woman in order to communicate with her recently deceased father, and where a priest performs an exorcism. Not even the scares can surprise you.
There are, however, a few brilliant moments in the movie. When a scary chain of events occurs, the call gets dropped or buffering starts immediately. Suspense has been amplified by those parts. These are deft maneuvers.
Despite the fact that the technical performance and approach to storytelling are cutting edge, the emotions are not strong. There is no compassion shown in the scenes between the mother and daughter. Even the relationship between dad and daughter is superficial.
Despite being relatively brief, the horror thriller spends a lot of time setting the stage. By the time we get to the climactic third and final act, the story has lost much of its momentum and intensity.
On the whole, "Connect" has its brilliant moments, but overall it lacks excitement. It never quite manages to hit the right emotional chord with its audience.
Bottom line: Insufficient Signal

Connect Movie : What's Behind
Nayanthara's Connect directed by Ashwin Saravanan is capturing the imagination of all. The horror and spooky elements and the film's length are becoming the talking point. The presence of Nayanthara is an added advantage. Connect OTT streaming rights have been bagged by Disney+Hotstar and streaming will be on after the completion of its theatrical run. Let us find out whether Connect connected chords with movie lovers.
Connect 2022 Movie Story Review:
Connect is about a single mother and the ordeal she underwent during the lockdown. Susan (Nayanthara) leads a happy life along with her husband, doctor Joseph Bejoy, daughter Anna aka Ammu (Haniya Nafis), and father Artur Samuel (Sathyaraj) in Visakhapatnam. However, her happy personal life turns upside down with covid attack and the imposition of lockdown. To find out the shocking developments in Susan's life, how it is related to her daughter, and what role father Augustine (Anupam Kher) from Mumbai played should be found out on the big screen.
Connect Movie : Artists, Technicians Review
Connect story penned by Ashwin Saravanan along with Kaavya Ramkumar is all about how a single mother fights to save her possessed daughter during the lockdown period. Ashwin Saravanan starts the narration in a slow and steady manner by establishing the characters and bonding for the first fifteen minutes before the real story begins. From then on, except for the lockdown connection, everything else turns cliched. His story, screenplay, and direction tread on the predictable note that was witnessed by movie lovers in Hollywood films like The Exorcist and The Conjuring. This results in the film having good technical values but the story takes a beating as it turned out to be nothing new. The writers failed to come up with exciting twists and turn to thrill the viewers. The narration turns predictable and one gets a feeling that the entire cast is just passing through the motions. The Christian angle setup gives viewers the Hollywood feel that is routine. After some time, one gets a feeling that they are watching a documentary on exorcism in the backdrop of lockdown. The director Ashwin Saravanan missed many logics and the film ends on a predictable note.
Nayanthra is apt in the role of a caring mother. She showed good sentiments and emotions. However one gets a feeling that she is getting typecast in such roles. Sathyaraj in the role of Nayanthara's father is ok in his role. At times he went overboard with his acts. Haniya Nafis on debut as the daughter possessed by soul did well. Vinay Rai appeared for a few minutes in the role of Nayanthara's husband. Anupam Kher played the important role of the Father who tries to drive away the possessed soul. There is nothing much to talk about his role.
Prithvi Chandrasekhar elevated the scenes with his background music. The cinematography of Manikantan Krishnamachary is in sync with the horror genre. He tried to create a few spooky scenes to make an impact. Though the duration is short, Richard Kevin's editing left many drags which slowed the pace of the narration. Production values are ok.

Connect Movie Rating Analysis:
Altogether, Connect though possessed with soul, failed to connect chords with the movie lovers. Ashwin Saravanan with Nayanthra's Connect planned to create havoc and fear in the minds of all movie lovers. Ashwin Saravanan showed that he had Hollywood dreams with his story, by including a Christian backdrop and the entire setup resembling the same. However, with the shades of Hollywood films The Conjuring and Exorcist, Ashwin lost the plot as comparisons took the front seat. Ashwin Saravanan failed to answer many important points and with him not coming out with clarity as to why the soul possessed the little kid and what happened to the Ouija House, Connect looked half-baked and did not connect chords with the movie lovers. Ashwin Saravanan failed with his story, screenplay, and direction. Connect though possessed with soul, failed to connect chords with the movie lovers. Connect is badly impacted by routine elements, lack of creativity and clarity, and failure to strike the emotional chords. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2 rating to Connect .

Connect review: Watch this horror film for debutante Haniya Nafisa
While Nayanthara is okayish as a mother, Sathyaraj and Anupam Kher were convincing in their respective roles.
Published:Dec 21, 2022
Nayanthara's 'Connect' marks her second collaboration with director Ashwin Saravanan after their super hit flick 'Maya'. (UV_Creations/Twitter)
Technical aspects elevate a routine story.
Connect (Telugu)
- Cast: Nayanthara, Sathyaraj, Anupam Kher, Vinay Rai, and Haniya Nafisa
- Director: Ashwin Saravanan
- Producer: Vignesh Shivan
- Music: Prithvi Chandrasekhar
- Runtime: 1 hour 39 minutes
- Cast: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Emraan Hashmi, and Revathy
- Director: Maneesh Sharma
- Producer: Aditya Chopra
- Music: Pritam Chakraborty
- Runtime: 2 hours 35 minutes
Nayanthara’s multilingual horror flick Connect is releasing in theatres this weekend, on 22 December. It is taking on biggies like Ravi Teja’s Dhamaka and Vishal’s Laththi at the box office.
Does this horror flick, which rides solely on Nayanthara’s popularity, have enough substance to connect with the audience? Let’s find out in our review:
A teenage girl Anne (Haniya Nafisa) is taken over by an evil spirit when she attempts to speak to her late doctor-father using an Ouija Board. The father had succumbed to Covid during the lockdown.
Anne’s mother Susan (Nayanthara) and grandfather Arthur (Sathyaraj) are worried about her and seek the help of Father Augustine (Anupam Kher).
Father Augustine decides to use exorcism to free Anne from her demons. But he warns Susan and Arthur that it will be a tough one. Since there is a lockdown, he does the exorcism online, which makes things difficult.
How he performs the exorcism to save Anne from her demon forms the main plot of the movie.
Gripping narration makes up for routine story
The audiences have seen enough movies where a character is under the spell of the evil spirit and the kith and kin make efforts to drive them away. Exorcism is not new to horror movie lovers, and Connect is no exception. In fact, several shots and tricks in the film remind us of past horror movies.
Despite the cliches, director Ashwin Saravanan — who also wrote the script — has succeeded in engaging the audience with his narration. Though there are some dull moments, most of the movie is gripping.
Haniya Nafisa shines in her acting debut
‘Connect’, yet another h horror thriller from Ashwin Saravanan, has no intermission. (UV_Creations/Twitter)
Connect got all its attention due to the presence of star heroine Nayanthara. But it is Haniya Nafisa who shines in this flick.
Singer and social media influencer Haniya Nafisa has made her acting debut with this horror film. She impresses with her performance as a girl under the influence of a demon.
Nayanthara plays the role of her mother — and she is okay.
Anupam Kher and Sathyaraj play key roles. With their vast experience, they prove that roles like these are a cakewalk for them.
Technical crafts elevate a regular story
Most of the film is shot indoors and cinematographer Manikantan Krishnamachary has done a good job, within the limits of the storyline.
It is a good decision and also an experimental one to keep the movie limited to 99 minutes. The makers decided to screen the film without an intermission. It is to be seen how this experiment fares.
The shorter runtime ensures that the momentum does not dip. Editor Richard Kevin did a notable job.
Music director Prithvi Chandrashekhar adds to the impact with an impressive background score.
Connect is a horror movie based on exorcism and it gets its popularity from Nayanthara’s presence. But Haniya Nafisa leads the movie.
In a nutshell, it is strictly for horror movie lovers!

Lady Superstar Nayanthara’s new film titled, Connect under the direction of Ashwin Saravanan of Maya fame has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.
Story: Set in Covid testing times, the film showcases hospital scenes where Dr Joseph Benoy ( Vinay Rai) is seen treating Covid patients. In the process of rescuing affected patients, Joseph Benoy gets in contact with the virus and losses his life. Later, his wife Susan( Nayanthara) and daughter Anna( Haniya Nafis) start experiencing eerie changes in their residence. At one point, Susan notices changes in her daughter’s behavior. As lockdown is imposed, Susan takes the virtual help of a pastor named Augustine(Anupam Kher). How will the pastor helps to normalize the physical condition of Anna through virtual exorcism, forms crucial crux.
Performances: Nayanthara is impressive in her role as a single mother who is worried about her daughter’s health condition. On the other hand, Nayanthara is beautiful in saree attires as a homely lady.
Child artist Haniya Nafis did her part perfectly. Her makeover during the crucial juncture of the film is good. Actor Sathyaraj is decent in his role as a grandfather who has concerns about his granddaughter.
Bollywood actor Anupam Kher is okay in his limited yet key role. Especially, his performance during the climax portion brings depth to the proceedings. Other padding artists who did minor roles are fine with their performances.
Technicalities: The sound effects created for the film are top-notch as it elevates the mood of the film in an impactful manner. The background score given by Prithvi Chandrasekhar is arresting for the key portions.
Editing by Richard Kevin is okay. The cinematography work by Manikantan Krishnamachary registers. Production values for this tight-budget movie by Nayanthara’s husband Vignesh Shivn’s Rowdy Pictures banner are fine.
Though the film’s runtime is 99 minutes, not having an intermission is also a disadvantage for the film.
Analysis: Directed by Ashwin Saravanan, Kaavya Ramkumar provided the script for Connect in association with Ashwin. While the intention of Ashwin to showcase the sufferings during the pandemic times is appreciatable, the narrative lacks a racy screenplay.
If Ashwin and Kaavya would have taken care in writing a gripping screenplay and effective scene order, the result would have been even better. To summarize, Connect is a horror thriller that addresses how to deal with the devil’s possession. The lack of strong conflict and unengaging narrative with limited characters makes Connect an okayish watch. The film might find takers when premiered on digital space but theatrically it has fewer chances to click at the box office.
Verdict: Struggles to connect!

Connect Review In Telugu & Ratings | Hit or Flop?
Connect Review In Telugu : A female diva named Nayanathara is making a comeback in the female-centric film “Connect.” After seeing the teaser and teasers for the film, people were thrilled to learn that the Mayuri duo will be reunited for it. The release date of the film matches these forecasts. Therefore, let’s begin without further ado.
Table of Contents
Due to the lockdown, her relatives are dispersed throughout the city. In the film Connect, Anupam Kher portrays a priest who aids a single mother in rescuing her daughter. The actor’s portrayal of the possessed man comes perilously close to performing an exorcism. Obviously, their amazing escape is the focal point of the following events.
Cast & Crew
Nayanthara, Anupam Kher, Sathyaraj, Vinay, and Nafisa Haniya feature in the film. It was written by Ashwin Saravanan and Kaavya Ramkumar. The film was directed by Manikantan Krishnamacharya under the supervision of Ashwin Saravanan. The director of the film is Vignesh Shivan. He conducts business under the name Rowdy Pictures.
Movie Verdict
Even if the plot takes a while to get rolling, you will be interested in how it progresses because the premise and tone are intriguing. Due to the lockdown, she is attacked throughout the city, and the plot thickens when a malevolent entity arrives on the scene and her family attempts to save her. Unlike earlier horror films, the first act of this one was dominated by sorrowful rather than horrifying incidents.
There is no lull in the action, but the abrupt change in pace results in a spectacular twist, after which the film only improves. Despite a few small flaws, the story offers a captivating concept and a number of unexpected plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you can endure the 90-minute narration, you will have a wonderful experience.
Nayanthara impresses in her portrayal as a struggling single parent. Her persona had many moving parts, but since they were so skillfully crafted, she was able to execute them with ease. Satyaraj gave his all despite having less screen time than Anupam Kher in his role as a spiritual pastor. Each member of the cast also gave their all.
Connect’s technology is much superior to that of its competitors. Manikantan Krishnamachary transfers the reader to the realm of Connect and helps them feel at ease by using brilliant colours and intricate images. The remaining members of the technical team implemented the plan beautifully, and Prithvi Chandrasekhar did an excellent job with the score.
Connect is an excellent tale in the same style. Instead of focusing on frightening things, he examined how people felt during a lockdown while still including his signature plot twists. Even if Connects lacks the same level of acute dread as Mayuri or Game Over, the director is still capable of evoking emotion in the spectator.
Ashwin Saravanan is frequently startled by the creativity of his writings, despite the unsettling subject matter. His exceptional writing talents enabled him to accomplish this.
Connect is an excellent film that everyone should view at least once.

So let’s get started without further ado.
Her relatives are dispersed throughout the city due to the lockdown. Anupam Kher plays a priest in the movie Connect who helps a single mother save her daughter. The actor’s portrayal of the possessed man dangerously approaches executing an exorcism. Naturally, their incredible escape is the focus of the remaining events.
Cast & Crew

The movie was directed by Manikantan Krishnamacharya, under Ashwin Saravanan’s direction. The movie was directed by Vignesh Shivan. He operates under the moniker Rowdy Pictures.
Movie Verdict
Even if the plot takes a bit to get going, you’ll be interested in how it develops because the premise and tone are engaging. Due to the lockdown, she is attacked throughout the city, and the plot thickens when a villainous force enters the scene and her family tries to save her. In contrast to previous horror movies, this one’s initial act was dominated by sad rather than terrifying events.
There isn’t a break in the action, but the sudden change in pace results in a brilliant twist, and the rest of the film just gets better from there. Despite a few minor issues, the novel offers a compelling idea and several unexpected twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat. You’ll have a great time if you can sit through the 90 minutes of narration.
Nayanthara excels in her role as a single parent who struggles. Her character had a lot of moving elements, but because they were so expertly created, she was able to pull them off with ease. Satyaraj gave his all in his part as a spiritual pastor, despite not having as much screen time as Anupam Kher. Each member of the cast gave it their all as well.
The technology used by Connect is significantly superior to that of its rivals. Using vivid colours and detailed graphics, Manikantan Krishnamachary transports the reader to the world of Connect and makes them feel comfortable. The remainder of the technical team executed the plan flawlessly, and Prithvi Chandrasekhar performed a fantastic job on the score.
Connect is a terrific story in the same vein. This time, he investigated how individuals felt during a lockdown while still incorporating his trademark plot twists, as opposed to concentrating on terrifying things. Even while Connects doesn’t have the same level of intense dread as Mayuri or Game Over, the director is still able to make the audience feel something.
Despite the disturbing subjects of his writings, Ashwin Saravanan is frequently surprised by their originality. His extraordinary writing skills allowed him to achieve this.
In conclusion, Connect is a great movie that everyone should watch at least once.

Popular comedian Getup Srinu has turned a hero for the movie Raju Yadav. The movie directed by Krishnamachary has Ankitha Kharat as the female lead. Let’s see how the film is.
Raju Yadav (Getup Srinu) hailing from Mahabubnagar gets hit by a cricket ball which turns his life upside down. This leads to a facial disorder which makes Raju Yadav smile all the time. Doctors advise Raju to undergo a surgery but his family can’t afford the treatment. While nothing is going right in Raju’s life, he sees Sweety (Ankitha Kharat) one day and falls for her instantly. How Sweety changed Raju’s life forms the crux of the story.
Plus Points:
Raju Yadav’s character demands the protagonist to maintain the same facial expression throughout the movie whatever the situation is. This is indeed a tough task but Getup Srinu gave a commendable performance in this romantic drama. The actor tried to lift the film in many scenes even when the writing isn’t strong.
Some fun scenes featuring Getup Srinu and his friends evoke laughs. Ananda Chakrapani who played hero’s father did a good job and the emotional moments featuring him and Getup Srinu over the end are satisfactory.
Minus Points:
Raju Yadav’s core idea is interesting, but the same cannot be said about the screenplay. The writing team failed to convert the interesting idea into a rollercoaster ride. Most part of the film is boring with poorly written scenes that hardly make any mpact.
The heroine’s characterisation in Raju Yadav has a striking resemblance to the female lead roles in few blockbuster movies, that stirred a discussion among the public. Hence there is nothing exciting in the proceedings and it isn’t tough to guess where the movie is heading. Though Ankitha Kharat did a good job, we can’t connect to her role due to the familiar plot line.
The similarity with other movies isn’t the whole issue. Except for the climax portions, Raju Yadav lacks emotional depth and there are many boring moments throughout the runtime. The editing is below par as many scenes test the patience levels.
Technical Aspects:
Harshavardhan Rameshwar’s songs are passable. The background score by Suresh Bobbili is just okay. The cinematography by Sai Ram is fine and the production values are decent.
Direction by Krishnamachary is below par. The makers applied the tried and tested formula, but the writing doesn’t hit the right note. The movie also doesn’t have clarity and there is inconsistency in the hero’s behaviour.
On the whole, Raju Yadav is a tedious romantic drama with a plot line which is being overused lately. Getup Srinu is pretty good in his portrayal and a handful of fun scenes work. But the rest of the movie is very boring and there is lack of consistency in the proceedings. Hence Raju Yadav ends up being a disappointing watch.

Furiosa's 'Mad Max' origin story is packed with explosives and extremes
Justin Chang
Anya Taylor-Joy plays the title character in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Jasin Boland / Warner Bros. hide caption
Nine years after the release of Mad Max: Fury Road , it doesn't feel too soon to call it one of the greatest Hollywood action movies ever made. We may have seen all the elements before in previous Mad Max movies: the post-apocalyptic setting and the grief-stricken road warrior, caught up in another desert demolition derby. But the director George Miller had never mashed them together with this much sustained excitement or sheer verve.
One of the movie's most delightful surprises was that Max himself, played by Tom Hardy, wasn't even its best character. That honor fell to the brilliant and brooding Imperator Furiosa, played by a staggering Charlize Theron in one of her best performances.
A character this unforgettable was destined to resurface, and now Miller has given us a prequel called Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga . Mad Max himself is nowhere to be seen, though; this is Furiosa's origin story. It begins in a lush oasis, called the Green Place, located somewhere in the desert, where Furiosa, a young girl played by Alyla Browne, has grown up in a secret society of mostly women.
But one day, male marauders on motorcycles invade the Green Place and kidnap Furiosa. Her mother, played by Charlee Fraser, follows in hot pursuit and briefly succeeds in getting her back. Knowing they will likely be captured again at any moment, Furiosa's mother hands her a seed from their home, the Green Place, and tells her to guard it carefully.
Movie Interviews
'mad max' director george miller: the audience tells you 'what your film is'.
Sure enough, tragedy strikes soon after, leaving Furiosa desperate to not only break free, but also get revenge on her captors. Her chief target is the biker gang's leader, Dementus, played by a menacing Chris Hemsworth, who seems to relish playing a big personality in something other than a Thor movie for a change.
The plot thickens from there. Dementus forges an unholy alliance with the evil warlord Immortan Joe, whom Furiosa will later take on in Fury Road . That film spun a ruthlessly taut and concise story, set over a breathless few days and sustaining extraordinary momentum from start to finish.
A Visceral, Inventive Blockbuster Roars To Life In 'Mad Max: Fury Road'
The movie Furiosa , by contrast, divides into five chapters, stretched out over more than a decade, and sometimes bogs down in plot. Simply put, Furiosa bides her time, passing herself off as a boy working in Immortan Joe's auto garage. By the time Anya Taylor-Joy steps into the role, Furiosa has grown into an ace mechanic, a skilled driver and a powerhouse fighter — ready to take on Dementus, Immortan Joe and anyone else who might stand in her way.
This ushers in the movie's most thrilling sequence, in which Furiosa makes her escape from Immortan Joe's citadel by stowing away in a massive truck. The driver is a man named Praetorian Jack, played by the excellent Tom Burke, with whom Furiosa joins forces. Before long the truck is attacked, by whom and for what reason I honestly can't remember, but it doesn't matter: What matters is that we're watching a high-speed chase in a Mad Max movie, and Miller is entirely in his element.
As usual, he ramps up the vehicular action to ludicrous extremes, with wildly acrobatic stunts that feel inspired by everything from Buster Keaton to Looney Tunes . Even in moments when the CGI looks a little obvious, the mayhem is staged and shot with the kind of blissful coherence that you rarely see in a Hollywood blockbuster anymore. As the camera darts in and around the truck and drumbeats pound on the soundtrack, Furiosa comes fully into her own as an action hero, hurling dynamite one minute and climbing up on top of the truck to fend off an attacker the next.
Taylor-Joy has never played a role this physically demanding before — few actors have — and she meets the challenge head-on. For all that, I didn't always buy her as Furiosa, or at least the Furiosa I thought I knew from Fury Road . Taylor-Joy has a coolness here that feels very different from the fiery intensity that made Theron's performance so spectacular. There's something lacking in the script, as well: While Furiosa's motivation for revenge is entirely plausible, something about her arc feels a bit too psychologically tidy to grip or disturb you in the way it's supposed to.
In the end, the truest star of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is the post-apocalyptic world itself, with its burnt-orange dunes and towering desert citadels. Miller has said there are more Mad Max movies in store, and part of me hopes he never stops making them; the more he returns to this make-believe landscape, the more real it becomes.

But the rest of the plot, narration, and thrills are unengaging making this film a dull watch this weekend. 123telugu.com Rating: 2.5/5.
