کرکٹ ایک ایسا کھیل ہے جو گیارہ کھلاڑیوں پر مشتمل دو ٹیموں کے درمیان کھیلا جاتا ہے۔ یہ کھیل گیند اور بلے کے ذریعے کھیلا جاتا ہے جس کا میدان بیضوی شکل کا ہوتا ہے۔ میدان کے درمیان میں ۲۰.۱۲ میٹر (۲۲۲ گز) کا مستقر بنا ہوتا ہے جسے پچ کہا جاتا ہے۔ پچ کے دونوں جانب تین تین لکڑیاں نصب کی جاتی ہیں جنہیں وکٹ کہا جاتا ہے۔ میدان میں موجود ٹیم کا ایک رکن (گیند باز) چمڑے سے بنی ایک گیند کو پچ کی ایک جانب سے ہاتھ گھما کر دوسری ٹیم کے بلے باز رکن کی جانب پھینکتا ہے۔ عام طور پر گیند بلے باز تک پہنچنے سے قبل ایک مرتبہ اچھلتی ہے اور بلے باز اپنی وکٹوں کا دفاع کرتا ہے۔
