These 3 Administrator cover letter examples will provide you with some good ideas on how to format a cover letter, along with the type of message you should be trying to put across to recruiters .

To further understand exactly how you can write a cover letter that will get you noticed, check out our further guidance.

How to write a Administrator cover letter

Here’s how you can write your own eye-catching cover letter, broken down into simple steps.

How to write a cover letter

Write your cover letter in the body of an email/message

Type the content of your cover letter directly into the email you are sending, or if you are applying via a job board, directly into their messaging system.

The reason for doing this it to ensure that your cover letter gets seen instantly and you can start connecting with the recruiter as soon as they open your message.

If you attach your cover letter as a separate document, the recipient will have to open up the document, which will slow the process down, or make them less likely to even open your cover letter – which could mean your application gets skipped over.

Write cover letter in body of email

Start with a friendly greeting

Cover letter address

To start building rapport with the recruiter or hiring manager right away, lead with a friendly greeting.

Try to strike a balance between professional and personable.

Go with something like…

  • Hi [insert recruiter name]
  • Hi [insert department/team name]

Stay away from old-fashioned greetings like “Dear sir/madam ” unless applying to very formal companies – they can come across as cold and robotic.

How to find the contact’s name?

Addressing the recruitment contact by name is an excellent way to start building a strong relationship. If it is not listed in the job advert, try to uncover it via these methods.

  • Check out the company website and look at their  About page. If you see a hiring manager, HR person or internal recruiter, use their name. You could also try to figure out who would be your manager in the role and use their name.
  • Head to LinkedIn , search for the company and scan through the list of employees. Most professionals are on LinkedIn these days, so this is a good bet.

Identify the role you are applying for

Once you’ve opened up the cover letter with a warm greeting to start building a relationship, it is time to identify which role you want to apply for.

Recruiters are often managing multiple vacancies, so you need to ensure you apply to the correct one.

Be very specific and use a reference number if you can find one.

  • I am interested in applying for the position of Administrator with your company.
  • I would like to apply for the role of Sales assistant (Ref: 406f57393)
  • I would like to express my interest in the customer service vacancy within your retail department
  • I saw your advert for a junior project manager on Reed and would like to apply for the role.

Highlight your suitability

The sole objective of your cover letter is to motivate recruiters into to opening your CV. And you achieve this by quickly explaining your suitability to the roles you are applying for.

Take a look at the job descriptions you are applying to, and make note of the most important skills and qualifications being asked for.

Then, when crafting your cover letter, make your suitability the central focus.

Explain why you are the best qualified candidate, and why you are so well suited to carry out the job.

This will give recruiters all the encouragement they need to open your CV and consider you for the job.

Cover letter tips

Keep it short and sharp

A good cover letter is short and sharp, getting to the point quickly with just enough information to grab the attention of recruiters.

Ideally your cover letter should be around 4-8 sentences long – anything longer will risk losing the attention of time-strapped recruiters and hiring managers .

Essentially you need to include just enough information to persuade the reader to open up your CV, where the in-depth details will sit.

Sign off professionally

To finish off your cover note, add a professional signature to the bottom, stating your important contact details and information.

This not only provides recruiters with multiple means of contacting you, but it also adds a nice professional appearance to the cover letter, which shows that you know how to conduct yourself in the workplace.

Include the following points;

  • A friendly sign off – e.g. “Warm regards”
  • Your full name
  • Phone number (one you can answer quickly)
  • Email address
  • Profession title
  • Professional social network – e.g. LinkedIn

Here is an example signature;

Warm regards,

Aaron Smith Customer service professional 075557437373 [email protected] LinkedIn

Quick tip : To save yourself from having to write your signature every time you send a job application, you can save it within your email drafts, or on a separate document that you could copy in.

What to include in your Administrator cover letter

So, what type of information should you write about in your Administrator cover letter?

The specifics will obviously depend on your profession and the jobs you are applying to, but these are the key areas you should be covering.

  • Your industry experience – Tell recruiters the types of companies you have been working for and the roles you have held in the past.
  • Your qualifications – Highlight your most important relevant qualifications to show employers you are qualified to do the roles you are applying for.
  • The impact you have made – Demonstrate the positive impact you have made for employers in previous jobs. Have you saved money? Improved processes? Made customers happy?
  • Your reasons for moving – Employers will want to know why you are leaving your current/previous role, so provide them with a brief explanation here.
  • Your availability – When will you be able to start a new job ? Check your current contract to find out your notice period if you are in a position already.

Motivation letter for Master of Science degree in Public Administration

Dear Madam, Sir,

I hereby wish to state my interest for a place in your Master of Science programme in Public Administration.

After graduation from high school in June 2002, I started studying at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Sarajev o in September the same year. I graduated in 2008, major: Public Administration and Governance. Just several days after my graduation, I enrolled myself on Master programme in European Studies at the University of Zagreb , and I expect to finish my studies in September.

During my studies at bachelor level I have developed special interest for public sector, as inefficient public sector, inappropriate public administration and regulation in my country is one of the main obstacles for future EU integration, but not just that. Too extensive bureaucracy at all levels interfere with the normal functioning of economic activities. In order to join EU, and to create healthy and stimulating environment for enterprises, Bosnia has to make big reforms in public administration, regulation and in laws.

Regarding all the reasons mentioned above, I would like to take an active role in my country’s transformation process. Because of that I wanted to enrol myself on Master programme in Public Administration, but in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the time when I have graduated, there wasn’t any good MPA programme. So, I have decided to take some time in order to find good master course, and so I came to Your University.

As I wrote on the beginning of this letter, I currently attend Master course in European Studies. On this programme I have learned very comprehensive facts about EU institutions, common policies and accession processes. The most interesting subject was European Law, in which we learned about the historical background of the European Union, the European Institutions and their functioning and about European legislative procedure and material European law, which I found very important. Knowledge I have gained through this master course could be very valuable for my future performance on Master programme I am applying at Your University, and I would like to expand my knowledge base on this subject, and certainly to do that is best on some EU University.

You can see in my enclosed curriculum vitae that I am an activist in two NGOs.  In Citizen’s Action NGO in Tuzla, Bosnia I have worked on several projects where I was able to apply my knowledge of the functioning of the European Institutions and to broaden my knowledge about the regional policy of the European Union, particularly about the Structural Funds, ERDF, and IPA funds which are very important source of funding for EU candidate and neighbouring countries.  My duties during the time of project preparation and implementation included the gathering of information relevant to local organizations and providing it to the cantonal authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to local community. This work was exciting and challenging, as my duties and responsibilities were quite unfamiliar to my colleagues and I was in charge for the most of duties regarding mentioned projects. The knowledge gained during my studies and through work on projects I have just mentioned showed me the deep impact of the European level on every aspect of daily life and confirmed my intention of working professionally in the public sector or public administration in the future.

Currently I’m writing the project concerning e-government and administrative reform in my country and I would like to write my Master thesis on the topic closely related to mentioned subject. E-government is a novel concept of administration that has been accepted in many, especially well-developed countries. Along with the development of communication technology and the enlargement of state functions and responsibilities of those who work within it, e-government became the condition without which a democratic, transparent, efficient and socially acceptable society cannot be achieved. Because of that I think that e – government is adequate instrument for achieving the standards of good governance and best practices in rendering public services to citizens. As the Bosnia is on the road of introducing e-government in its public administration I would like to gather good practices from EU countries, and present them in my home country when I came back home after my graduation.

As it is my future goal to work in the public sector / administration or in NGO sector, I am keenly interested in acquiring more theoretical knowledge and practical skills in this area.  I am convinced that the Master of Science course in Public Administration at University of Twente corresponds well with my future plans and with my qualifications acquired during previous lectures, seminars and work experiences.

After I went through the course structure of your MSc and read carefully the overview and the objectives of every single course, I was sure that this programme perfectly matches with my interests. First of all I can complete my theoretical knowledge about various European-related topics and practice my language skills of English. Also, there is a growing need for trained and experienced professionals in public administration and Your University has a very good reputation in this field.

Bearing in mind what, on the one hand, my interests, prospects and qualifications are, and what, on the other hand your postgraduate study programme offers, I am very enthusiastic and eager to undertake this challenge.

Thank you very much for considering my request, I am looking forward to hearing from You.

Yours sincerely,

The best way to start an Administrative Assistant cover letter is by grabbing the reader's attention immediately. Begin by addressing the hiring manager by name, if it's known. Then, introduce yourself and briefly mention the position you're applying for. You can also mention a notable achievement or experience that aligns with the job requirements. For example, "As an Administrative Assistant with over five years of experience in managing complex schedules and coordinating travel, I was excited to see your job posting for an Administrative Assistant." This approach shows that you're professional, experienced, and enthusiastic about the role.

Administrative Assistants should end a cover letter with a strong closing statement that reiterates their interest in the position and the value they can bring to the company. This could be something like, "I am excited about the opportunity to bring my unique skills and experience to your team and am confident that I can contribute significantly to your operations." Following this, it's important to express gratitude for the reader's time and consideration, such as, "Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing my candidacy further." Lastly, end with a professional closing and your full name. "Sincerely" or "Best regards" are commonly used closings. If you're submitting a digital copy, include your contact information below your name. This ending leaves a positive, professional impression and opens the door for further communication.

An Administrative Assistant's cover letter should ideally be about one page in length. This is a standard length that allows you to succinctly present your skills, experiences, and qualifications without overwhelming the reader. It's important to remember that hiring managers often have to go through a large number of applications, so keeping your cover letter concise and to the point can increase the chances of it being read thoroughly. In terms of word count, aim for around 250 to 400 words. This should give you enough space to introduce yourself, explain why you're interested in the role and the company, and highlight your most relevant skills and experiences.

Writing a cover letter with no direct experience as an Administrative Assistant can seem challenging, but it's absolutely possible. Here's how you can approach it: 1. **Understand the role**: Research the role of an Administrative Assistant thoroughly. Understand the skills and qualities required for the job. This could include organizational skills, communication skills, proficiency in certain software, etc. 2. **Highlight transferable skills**: Even if you haven't worked as an Administrative Assistant before, you likely have skills from other jobs or experiences that are relevant. For example, if you've worked in customer service, you've likely developed strong communication and problem-solving skills. If you've worked in a fast-paced retail environment, you've likely honed your ability to multitask. Highlight these transferable skills in your cover letter. 3. **Show enthusiasm for the role**: Employers value candidates who are enthusiastic about the job. Express your interest in the role and the company, and explain why you're interested. This can help make up for a lack of direct experience. 4. **Provide examples**: Use specific examples to demonstrate your skills. For instance, if you're claiming to have strong organizational skills, provide an example of a time when you used these skills to achieve a positive outcome. 5. **Express willingness to learn**: If you don't have direct experience, showing a willingness to learn can be very appealing to employers. Make it clear that you're eager to learn and grow in the role. 6. **Keep it concise and professional**: Your cover letter should be no more than one page. Keep the tone professional, and proofread carefully to avoid any errors. 7. **Use the right format**: Start with a formal salutation, introduce yourself, explain why you're interested in the role and the company, highlight your relevant skills and experiences, and conclude with a strong closing statement. Remember, everyone starts somewhere. Even if you don't have direct experience, your unique combination of skills, experiences, and enthusiasm can make you a strong candidate for an Administrative Assistant role.

MPA Application Tips: How to Submit Letters of Recommendation-image

Tom O’Toole, Executive Director of MPA Program, shares tips for obtaining high quality letters of recommendation for your graduate school application.

Letters of recommendation are the “great unknowns” of the graduate school application process.  Most applicants waive access to recommendations, so they never really know what they are going to get. Some recommenders put a great deal of thought into recommendations, and others have a generic letter of recommendation into which they simply enter the applicant’s name.  Unless you have seen a letter previously written by a potential recommender, there really isn’t much you can do to control the quality and depth of a recommendation.  Here are a few tips, though, to ensure that the letters submitted on your behalf make the best possible case for your admission:

Before a recommender writes on your behalf, you should explain your purpose for pursuing graduate studies.  You should also ask them for a candid assessment of your knowledge, skills, and abilities.  In the past, I have read recommendations that convey the applicant’s poor performance and utter  lack  of preparation for graduate studies.  This suggests the applicant has seriously misjudged the recommender’s perception of their qualifications.  Not all recommenders will decline writing on behalf of an applicant if they do not have anything good to say.  Having an in-depth conversation beforehand will give the recommender more insight into your objectives (which will allow them to speak to specific, relevant attributes of your background) and will provide you with a heads up if the recommender is not able to frame your capabilities and promise in a positive light.

Time Crunch:

Well-written recommendations take a good deal of time to prepare.  Giving recommenders exploding deadlines can lead to disastrous results—either the recommender will be in a negative frame of mind when writing, or the letter they do write will be the “bare minimum.”  If you do not want the “bare minimum,” you should give your recommenders at least three weeks to write recommendations.

The “Razzle Dazzle” Problem:

One of the biggest mistakes applicants make when soliciting letters of recommendation is selecting recommenders who are high-profile, but have virtually no depth of experience with the applicant.  A typical example is an applicant who has interned with a member of Congress.  The applicant presumes that the admissions committee would be impressed by a recommendation on congressional letterhead, or signed by Congressman/Congresswoman X.  The problem is that, generally, most interns do not have much access to the congressman/congresswoman they are working for, and the letters are usually the “bare minimum” (or written by the applicant themself, which is very easy to detect).  Choose recommenders who have had the most exposure to your work and will be able to provide rich, in-depth examples of your performance.  Some of the best recommendations I have read have been written by teaching assistants who observed an applicant’s performance in a small seminar setting.  Go for substance, not flash.

Skip the Fluff:

In the recommendations I read, I am looking for concrete examples of public service commitment and strong academic/professional performance.  This is another reason why you should ensure that your recommenders have had sufficient exposure to your work.  Even if you received an “A” in a course of 500 students, unless you really stood out, chances are the instructor’s recommendation will be generic (at best, a restatement of the applicant’s resume/CV; at worst, a lengthy discussion of what  their  course was about, which refocuses attention away from the applicant).  To be sure, some recommenders, even if they worked closely with an applicant, suffer from “amnesia” and simply forget critical details of an applicant’s experience. This is yet another reason why you should thoroughly discuss your objectives and ensure potential recommenders have enough material to include in their recommendation.  I often suggest that applicants prepare an outline of defining experiences the recommender should include in their letter (challenges the applicant overcame during their academic/professional experience, specific examples of strong performance, exposure to techniques that are germane to the field).  Such an outline can be useful as a set of talking points during your initial discussion with a potential recommender.

Administrative Intern Cover Letter Example (Full Text Version)

Roland antonsson.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am pleased to be applying for the role of Administrative Intern at EWW Financial, Inc. that I have seen advertised on LinkedIn.com. I believe my skills and background make me an ideal fit for the job and that this would be a great opportunity for me to further develop my knowledge and qualities.

I am a second-year Business Administration with Marketing student at the Washington State University, where, with a GPA of 3.98, I am among the top 10% of students. However, besides academia, I also participate in multiple extracurricular activities including Debate Club, European Society, and Marketing Society. The engagement in these activities has taught me how to function well in team environments and deal with people from different countries and cultures. Moreover, I served as a Class Representative for one year and this experience helped me to develop the ability to lead a group of individuals and improve my communication and time management skills.

My experience of working as an Administrative Intern at Homebridge Financial Services, Inc. has given me an overall knowledge of different aspects of a business. Not only I worked on the improvement of administrative systems and provided professional clerical support to the Office Managers but I also had a chance to assist in the event planning and management and coordinate weekly schedules for more than 10 employees. For my hard work and efforts, I won the Intern of the Month Award. This job also provided a great opportunity for me to see what is it like to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven business environment.

I possess excellent problem-solving skills and well-developed organizational abilities and I look forward to discussing the possibility of joining your team. Thank you for your time and consideration.

  • d’obtenir un itinéraire à emprunter, en tant que piéton ou conducteur d’un véhicule motorisé, après avoir indiqué un point de départ et d’arrivée ;
  • d’observer les évolutions du territoire français en comparant des cartes ou des vues aériennes d’un même endroit à différentes périodes (notamment les années 1950-1965 et 2000-2005) ;
  • d’obtenir des informations sur un bâtiment (hauteur, nombre de logements, année de la construction, etc.), sur le type de culture produite dans un champ, sur les essences d’arbres qui composent une forêt ou sur la nature d’une plage (sable ou galets) ;

  • d’une modification du réseau routier ;
  • du changement de nom d’une rue ;
