English Essay, Paragraph, Speech on “Our Annual Sports Day” for Kids, Students of Class 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 Board Examination

Our Annual Sports Day

This year the annual sports day of our school was held on November 30. It was a good change from the classroom atmosphere of studies. We enjoyed ourselves a lot.

After the march-past and the oath-taking ceremony by the participants began the track events. First, there were 100-meter, 200-metre, and 400-meter races. The runners were loudly cheered as they ran past their supporters. The three-legged race aroused great interest. It provoked loud laughter when some pairs tumbled over. The cycle race attracted the largest number of participants.

The field events comprised the high jump, the long jump, the pole vault, the javelin throw, the discus throw, and putting the shot. The highlight of all these events was that an athlete broke the school record in the high jump.

An interesting event of the day was a tug-of-war between the staff and the students. The students won, to the great amusement of all.

Then there was the musical chair’s race for the guests only. The participants had to be very alert lest they should lose their seats when the music stopped. The race had moments of great suspense. An ex-serviceman stood first.

The participants who won the first three positions in each event came to the victory stand, were cheered, garlanded, and photographed.

When all the events were over, there was the prize-giving function. This was followed by a tea party.

We returned home happier than ever.

Speech on Annual Sports Day (812 Words)

January 3, 2018 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

Greetings to all present here. I request you all to bear with me as I present in front of you my speech on the topic ‘Annual sports day’. I urge you to pardon me for any mistake that I commit knowingly or unknowingly while presenting my thoughts.

Annual sports day is the time when sports and games are given importance in an educational institution. It is the time when the sportsmen and women are brought to light. It is the specific span of time in the academic calendars that are set apart for exercises, games and other recreational activities.

This event occurs annually in every school, but preparations for it start a month before. Annual sports day is the time when students get a break from the regular monotonicity of studies and can indulge themselves in doing what they enjoy most. There are a variety of events that are suitable for every child. Any child can participate in any event that he thinks is best for him.

In my school too, annual sports day is celebrated with great preparations and pomp and show. The practices for March past and drill started a month before. Every day the end periods were dedicated for its practice when the entire school used to come out for practice, from children to higher secondary students.

The students who weren’t good at this were chosen and taken out and sent for other works like singing and dancing groups. These were the performance groups. These groups performed specific dances and there was a chorus group who sang the school theme song, some prayer songs and national anthem.

The hosts and event conductors were told to fix up their speeches and vote of thanks. This was where I worked. Since I had a good voice I was selected to be the event conductor. The one who will give the real time cover up of the entire event in the mic.

sports day speech

Then there was time for the different competitions and a rough selection of the participants. There were so many game events and races. There were 100 meter race, 200 meter race, 400 meter race, relay race, sack race, rabbit race, biscuit race, three-legged race, marble and spoon race and many more.

During the rough selection the best participants were chosen and rest were thrown out of the game. Then there were also some non-racing games like the cricket ball throw, discus throw, iron ball throw, long jump and such. These games also had their rough selections.

Another group of students were appointed to be the volunteers, one who will look after the discipline and proper order of the entire event. Some were appointed to write the certificates and participate in the prize distribution ceremony.

Games like football and basketball were also to be held. But those were supposed to be inter school. Hence the practices for them were done separately.

On the day of the event the chief guest arrived. They lit the torch and the torch was encircled around the entire sports field by the four house captains indicating the start of the game. Then the national anthem was sung and flag was hoisted. This was followed by a speech, a dance performance.

Then it was followed by the March past. The chorus song team members put on a song. Later in the day started the individual sports and games. There was a break in between of one hour, allowing the participants the time to recharge themselves and have their food.

Then again in second half the games started and the team events like the foot ball and basketball. I had a hard time walking around with a mic from this field to that announcing the scores. I had to make sure that none of the events went neglected. The inter school teams also arrived.

They were welcomed by our teachers and students with a food packets and flowers. The inter school matches began. But unfortunately, our school didn’t play well in the football match. But in the basketball tournament is stood the first. All the students were happy

When all the events were over it was time for the prize distribution ceremony. The torch was extinguished at the end of the event. I never expected that the day would go so well and that annual sports of my school would be such an enjoyable event.

It not only brought out the hidden talents in each one but also provided fun on the way. This shows how important games and sports are in an academic regime.

Introduction

In the journey of language development, paragraph writing is a crucial milestone. For Class 6 students, learning to write coherent and impactful paragraphs sets the foundation for effective communication.

This article dives into the world of paragraph writing, focusing on Class 6 topics with answers. We will uncover the essentials, structure, and techniques required to compose impressive paragraphs that convey ideas with clarity.

Understanding the structure and approach to paragraph writing is the first step towards proficiency. Here, we’ll explore various topics and provide insightful answers to help students grasp the art of composition.

What is a Paragraph?

A paragraph is a collection of related sentences that express a single idea or theme. It serves as a building block for larger pieces of writing, such as essays or reports. A well-structured paragraph contains a topic sentence, supporting details, and a concluding sentence.

The Power of a Strong Topic Sentence

A topic sentence is the heart of a paragraph. It introduces the main idea and sets the tone for what follows. For instance, when writing about “My Favorite Hobby,” a strong topic sentence could be: “Gardening has become my most cherished pastime due to its therapeutic effects and the joy of watching plants flourish.”

Supporting Details: Adding Depth and Context

Supporting details provide depth to your paragraph by offering specific examples, facts, or anecdotes. If the topic sentence is about gardening, supporting details might include the types of plants you cultivate, the tools you use, and the satisfaction of seeing your garden thrive.

Transition Words: Creating Smooth Flow

Transition words and phrases, like “firstly,” “in addition,” and “finally,” help maintain the flow of your paragraph. They connect ideas and guide the reader through your thoughts seamlessly.

Concluding Sentence: Wrapping Up with Impact

A concluding sentence summarizes the main points and leaves a lasting impression. It should tie back to the topic sentence and provide a sense of closure. For instance, if the paragraph is about your favourite hobby, the concluding sentence might express your enthusiasm for spending time in the garden.

Essay on Sports Day Celebration in College [PDF]

Hello readers, today we are going to present an essay on Sports Day Celebration in College, I hope you will like this presentation. So let’s dive into the essay.

Essay on Sports Day Celebration in College feature image

Sports are an essential part of our lives. For the all-round development of our personality, we must take up a sport and follow it, without a break. To make students aware of the need to play various sports, schools and colleges have a compulsory subject on sports and physical education.

It has both theory and practical lessons, in which students learn about the importance of good health, physical strength, and how can sports help them to become healthy. As a part of physical education activities, schools and colleges also organize an annual sports day.

Our college organized this year’s sports day in the first week of January 2020. The responsibility of the sports day was taken by the sports teacher, the cricket and football coach of our college team, and the student’s organization.

The preparations for the sports day began 2 weeks before the actual event. The organizing committee prepared the list sports and games that will be played, the number categories and number of prizes in each category, and took the permission from our Principal for it.

The publicity was done by the students. They from class to class made announcements and appealed to the students to participate in as many sports as possible.

The sports ground of the college was cleaned and decorated for the sports day. The former students of the college, who are very successful sportspersons now, were invited for the inauguration.

The Principal gave a speech about the importance of sports in our life and gave his best wishes to all the students who were either organizing or participating in the sports day. Thus began one of the most exciting days in our college life.

The sports day celebration in our college included a number of sports – cricket, box cricket tournament, football, volleyball, racing events and several indoor games like chess, carrom, and others. The sports day celebration went on for two days, and on the evening of the second day, a prize distribution ceremony was organized.

Both the days from the sports day celebration were very exciting and memorable. As our college ground lies in an important part of our city, there were many spectators to enjoy the games, apart from our own college students.

The cricket and football matches got the greatest number of audiences, as everyone was aware of the fact that our college cricket team and the football team has participated in the tournaments up to the national level, and has won many championships, thereby making our college and city proud.

Everyone was eager to see them playing in their city after a long time, so no one missed the chance. The indoor games also got a huge number of audience as well as participants, and the chess tournaments went on for hours and hours – still, no one was bored of it.

Apart from the indoor and outdoor games, our college organized a different event this year – we had set up various stalls of fun games and activities within the boundaries of the ground, and children from various schools across the city were invited to play them. This activity got a huge response, and we have decided that we will organize it in the next year also.

The prize distribution ceremony was also a memorable part of the sports day celebration. Our college had invited the parents of the winning teams and players to be a part of this ceremony, and everyone was very happy.

The chief guests for this program included our Principal, the successful past students of our college, and the chief Police Commissioner of our city. All of these chief guests appreciated the efforts of college and its students, and congratulated them for a successful organization of this 2-day annual sports day.

The medals, trophies, and certificates were distributed by their hands, and an important decision was taken in the program – all the money collected through the entry fees of various games will be donated to an organization in our city, that works for the poor children to make them excel in their favourite sports by providing them sports kit and good training.

Everyone hugely appreciated the decision by clapping to show their support. Also, a donation box was kept for those who want to contribute some more to the efforts of this organization. Many parents made their donations, and some students took a great decision of donating their cash-prizes for this.

Towards the end of the sports day, the last speech was made by the Police Commissioner, who talked about how we can develop ourselves through sports.

He also appreciated the students for their active participation, and for the decision of making donations. The sports day celebration of our college ended with happy and proud faces of parents and students leaving the sports ground.
