History Teacher Cover Letter Sample (Full Text Version)

Dear Hiring Manager,

As a History Teacher with 7 years of high school experience, I apply with enthusiasm for this role.

I began my career as a History Teacher in Wisconsin before relocating to Germany for 2 years to work as a Modern History Teacher for an international school. After moving home and completing my Master of History Education, I joined Pentz High School in Ohio as Chemistry Teacher.

As well as the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching in physical and virtual settings, I am experienced in administering and evaluating assessments in preparation for examinations. I employ a range of traditional and progressive methodology, incorporating experiential learning opportunities whenever possible.

I see myself as an educator, not just a teacher. I encourage students to question their actions, the way that others have lived, and how we can use our knowledge to question the choices we make. I foster collaborations with leadership and fellow teachers that promote a flexible, supportive, and dynamic learning environment. I am delighted by the 93% average pass rate that my classes achieve.

In addition to my experience and Master degree, I hold a Bachelor of Education and am a Google Certified Educator (Levels 1 and 2).

I have enjoyed my time at Pentz. My decision to leave is solely based on our family’s decision to relocate. After researching your school’s reputation, academic track record, and reviews in detail, I feel confident about our mutual fit.

Please find attached my curriculum vitae for your consideration. Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

History Teacher Resume Skills Section Checklist:

  • Match your hard skills to the job description;
  • Add keywords to pass applicant tracking systems;
  • Don’t list soft skills such as ’teamwork’ – rather, mention how they’ve helped you gain success in some other sections of your History Teacher resume;
  • List only skills you actually have, keep lying out of the picture.

Making a strong first impression:

  • Keep your summary section short and easy to read; avoid long sentences;
  • Highlight your total years of experience in the field;
  • Mention 1-2 of your biggest achievements and strengths;
  • Add a couple of keywords from the job advert.

  • How To Write An Effective Resume Profile (With Examples)

Choosing the right format for your resume might seem difficult, regardless of whether you’re a newbie or a master. In short, there are three basic resume formats for you to choose from:

  • Reverse-chronological resume format ;
  • Functional skills-based resume format ;
  • Combination (or Hybrid) resume format .

The choice you make depends on your level of experience and the company you’re applying for.

The reverse-chronological resume format is great for you if you have at least 10 years of experience, no employment gaps, and are not looking for a career change. Here, you are expected to list all your previous jobs in a reverse-chronological format, starting from your most recent position and going back to the oldest one. It’s perfect for experienced individuals who are looking for a straightforward way to highlight their expertise.

The functional skills-based resume format, on the other hand, is great for recent graduates or professionals with large employment gaps. It focuses on skills and education, rather than experience. This makes it ideal for showing you’re the right fit without putting too much emphasis on your lack of (relevant) experience.

If you’re looking for something a bit more creative, go for the combination resume format. It’s a mix of the reverse-chronological and the functional skills-based formats, which makes it ideal for all types of applicants. What’s more, it’s considered modern and innovative, and isn’t this what you want your application to feel like anyway?

  • Choose traditional 1-inch resume margins ;
  • Go for a serif or sans serif resume font that’s easy to read yet looks professional (e.g. Arial, Verdana, or Calibri);
  • Keep your History Teacher resume short : one-page template are preferable, but if you have over 10 years of experience, you can also go for a two-page format ;
  • Save your resume as PDF and choose a suitable name, e.g. NameSurnameResume;

This can be a specific accomplishment, a relevant skill, or an experience that demonstrates your value as a potential employee.
  • Transition to the Body: Conclude the introduction by smoothly transitioning to the main body of the cover letter, where you will provide more detailed information about your qualifications, experiences, and how they align with the requirements of the position.

How to Improve Your history teacher Resume

Navigating resume pitfalls can mean the difference between landing an interview or not. Missing job descriptions or unexplained work history gaps can cause recruiters to hesitate. Let's not even talk about the impact of bad grammar, and forgetting your contact info could leave your potential employer hanging. Aim to be comprehensive, concise, and accurate.

Isaac Yates

Include your contact information and job descriptions, missing job descriptions lessens your chances of getting hired..

  • Employers want to know what you've accomplished, so make sure to include descriptions for all of your previous jobs.
  • Keep job descriptions short but don't just list your jobs.
  • Never copy-paste a job description to post on your resume. Get inspired and use tools to help you write customized descriptions.

How to Optimize Your history teacher Resume

Keep an eye out for these resume traps. Neglecting to detail your job roles or explain gaps in your career can lead to unnecessary doubts. Grammar blunders can reflect negatively on you, and without contact information, how can employers reach you? Be meticulous and complete.
