Marriage is often the culmination of a perfect romance. An arranged marriage however, is the beginning of an anticipated romance.
Two individuals: Abhay Sachdeva and Ritika Khanna. Strangers, but for a sole meeting. On the fringes of familiarity but with their destinies firmly entwined forever. Married to each other yet outsiders together on their honeymoon.
Far away in Ooty, 290 kms from home in Bangalore, Abhay and Ritika begin their journey as husband and wife on their 5 day honeymoon. Along the way they chance upon several people-some couples, some individuals, some believers in the institution of marriage and the romance of togetherness, some non-believers. Abhay and Ritika have never held hands, never walked together in the rain, never romanced each other and yet, as per ritual, they have to spend 5 days together in one room, with one bed, as husband and wife, in a situation where they are expected to love each other and become lovers.
Just Married is a movie that starts where most others end. It is a film set amidst middle class India where romance and love start at the ultimate commitment-marriage.
Will Abhay and Ritika find friendship and become lovers? Will they survive their new found relationship as husband and wife? Will their honeymoon be the beginning of the end?
Just Married. Marriage was only the beginning. And love was definitely not in the air!
Never has a love story been so unlike any other!

Tom (Ashton Kutcher) and Sarah (Brittany Murphy) are two lovebirds from different worlds. He's an average guy with a fondness for beer who works a low-level job, while she's an aspiring writer from a wealthy and cultured family. The disapproval of family and friends doesn't prevent the pair from marrying, but their disastrous honeymoon in Italy, with an unwelcome appearance by Sarah's ex-boyfriend, Peter (Christian Kane), nearly succeeds in tearing them apart.

Critic Reviews for Just Married
Audience reviews for just married.
Just Married is a decent comedy with a few good laughs, but it could have been done far better as well. The film had potential in doing something far better, and it does fall short. In the long run, this is a film that is worth seeing only once as the jokes become stale over multiple viewings. The idea behind the film was good, but the gags just didn't hold up. The cast do a decent job in their performances, but it simply doesn't make up for a great comedic experience. The film leaves room for improvement and it deliver some good laughs here and there but it could have been better. The film suffers from a lacking script that could have been rewritten a few times. Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy do what they can with the material and they pull off something entertaining. Just Married is fun, but like I said it could have been better due to its interesting ideas. This is a decent film to watch when you have nothing else better to do, and it makes for a mindless viewing experience that brings on a few good laughs, and effective moments. However this is a forgettable film that since its release, there has been far better films in this genre. Worth seeing, but there are too many underdeveloped ideas on-screen to really make it a hilarious film that warrants rewatching again and again. Expect something slightly humorous, but keep in mind that the film had plenty of wasted potential as well. Just Married is not the best rom com out there, but it certainly isn't the worst. Funny in some areas, and sketchy in others, this is a film that doesn't try too hard at being something great due to a script that reveals too many lacking, uninspired ideas.
"You never see the bad days in photo albums but those are the days that get you from one happy snap shot to another." A cute romantic movie with a girl from a wealthy Beverly Hills family Sarah McNerney (played by Brittany Murphy) who falls in love with an average Joe by the name of Tom Leezak (played by Ashton Kutcher). They get married even though Tom's friends and Sarah's family are against it and go on their supposedly perfectly planned European honeymoon. Unfortunately, things don't go exactly as they had hoped when they are evicted from their hotel in France. Light hearted and funny flick with wonderful glimpses of beautiful European vistas and I loved the memorable the heart-to-heart talk Tom gets from his dad; he had a good message in the end about being an adult and working things out. ~Spoiler~ "Just Married" has many hilarious moments from the classic pre-marriage scene when Kutcher tells his best man, "you're the worst best man ever," to him forcing a plug for a sex toy into the electrical outlet of the posh French hotel, to Murphy's discovery of the curious red bra in their honeymoon suite.
brittany murphy is at her most adorable here. the extra half a star is for her... wow that makes me sound like a dick.
Better than I thought but nothing great when all is said and done.

Marriage Was Only the Beginning!
The movie is about five couples who are on their honeymoon at Ooty and share the same hotel. All of them are pretty newly wed except for one who are celebrating their wedding anniversary. Together the couples take many tours and visit sites together in Ooty and get to know each other on a personable level. Slowly and steadily host of stories open up about each of them.

this film is actually really nice and realistic. esha & fardeen played their roles well and were very believable as an awkward newlywed couple. it kinda drags in some parts but i still liked it a lot.
the scene where esha's on the phone with her friend having an anxiety attack because she's now alone with a guy and doesn't know what to do...i feel like that shows the reality of arranged marriages. girls are expected go from 0 to 100 in just one night. we've been told not to interact with the opposite sex our whole lives, then suddenly we're married off and expected to be intimate with our husband. no wonder the poor girl was so scared!
Review by Steven Cohen ★★½ 1
I don't think I've ever seen an arranged marriage romantic comedy before. Meghna Gulzar's Just Married is a cute approach to that subject, but it is pretty rough. The production value is pretty low and some sequences feel too drawn out, but there are hints of the greater work Gulzar realizes with Chhapaak and Raazi .
Review by Fred Woodworth ★★★½
This was my third Hindi movie, back in December 2008. It was wonderful to see the trials of arranged marriage, so chronologically different from western mating, yet exactly the same in issues of developing trust in relationships. Truly a movie beginning at its end. Still a favorite after more than a decade.
This movie originally hit me in a very meaningful way, looking at some of the problems accompanying arranged marriage in what I took as a serious movie with a few moments of comedy and drama. I evidently take more movies than I should as serious. But, seeing this in that manner, I like its contrasts of the various stages of love in the Indian tradition. Good roles for both Fardeen and Esha, my favorite of Esha’s.

Now streaming on:
"Just Married" is an ungainly and witless comedy, made more poignant because its star, Brittany Murphy , made such a strong impression as Eminem's sometime girlfriend in " 8 Mile ." With her fraught eyes and husky voice, she has a rare and particular quality (I think of Jennifer Jason Leigh ) and yet here she's stuck in a dumb sitcom.
She and Ashton Kutcher play newlyweds in a plot that proves that opposites repel. She's a rich kid named Sarah, expensively raised and educated. He's Tom, an example of the emerging subspecies Sports Bar Man. They have a perfect relationship, spoiled by marriage (I think that may even be one of the lines in the movie). They're too tired for sex on their wedding night, but make up for it on their honeymoon flight to Europe with a quickie in the toilet of the airplane. There is perhaps the potential for a glimmer of comedy there, but not in Sam Harper's overwritten and Shawn Levy's overdirected movie, which underlines and emphasizes like a Power Point presentation for half-wits.
Consider. It may be possible to find humor in a scene involving sex in an airplane restroom, but not by pushing the situation so far that Tom's foot gets caught in the toilet and the bitchy flight attendant suffers a broken nose. Later, in their honeymoon hotel in Venice, it may be possible that energetic sex could break a bed frame--but can it actually destroy the wall of the adjoining room? And it may be possible for an improper electrical device to cause a short in a hotel's electrical system, but need the offending device be a vibrator? And for that matter, isn't it an alarming sign of incipient pessimism to take a vibrator along on your honeymoon? Europe was not the right choice for this honeymoon. He should have gone to Vegas, and she should have stayed single. Sarah wants to visit every church and museum, but Tom abandons her in the middle of Venice when he finds a bar that's showing an American baseball game. This is as likely as a sports bar in Brooklyn televising boules in French.
Sarah and Tom have nothing to talk about. They are a pathetic stupid couple and deserve each other. What they do not deserve, perhaps, is a screenplay that alternates between motivation and slapstick. Either it's character-driven or it isn't. If it is, then you can't take your plausible characters and dump them into Laurel and Hardy. Their rental car, for example, gets a cheap laugh, but makes them seem silly in the wrong way. And earlier in the film, Tom is responsible for the death of Sarah's dog in a scenario recycled directly from an urban legend everyone has heard.
Would it have been that much more difficult to make a movie in which Tom and Sarah were plausible, reasonably articulate newlyweds with the humor on their honeymoon growing out of situations we could believe? Apparently.

Arhaan Khan, son of Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora, quizzed his mother about her marriage plans on the upcoming episode of his chat show, 'Dumb Biryani'. A teaser of the episode was shared on the official Instagram account of 'Dumb Biryani'. Malaika is currently dating Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor.
In the teaser, Arhaan is seen hosting his mother on his chat show, along with his friend's mother. The short video clip shows him telling Malaika, "Mother, show me your hand," and asking the inevitable question, "When are you getting married?" The teaser refrains from revealing Malaika's response.

The teaser also shows Malaika asking her son some personal questions. She says, "Do you think you can be truthful because I can be very spicy?" Then, she questions Arhaan, "When did you lose your virginity?" Her question leaves Arhaan speechless, and he only replies with "Wow."
The full episode of the six-part chat show will stream on YouTube on Wednesday, April 17.
Malaika had earlier spoken about the reason behind her and Arbaaz's divorce. On Kareena Kapoor Khan’s chat show 'What Women Want', Malaika stated, “For me, happiness is most important. Even if it means I have to make such a major decision in life. We eventually thought about a lot of things and weighed every single pro and con. And then we decided it’s better off that we move our separate ways because we’d just be better people. Because we were two people in a situation making each other extremely unhappy, which was impacting everybody else’s life around us."

First release of a year is special. This is why one is extra curious to hear what does the music of Just Married have in the
offing. The music is also extra special since it has composer Pritam at the helm, who was one of the most versatile and successful
musician in the year gone by. Also, Pritam and PNC [film's producers] have a good musical track record behind them in the form
of Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, Ankahee and Pyaar Ke Side Effect . With expectations of a peppy-n-romantic musical
outing from the music of this Meghna Gulzar film that has lyrics by Gulzar saab with Fardeen Khan & Esha Deol in the lead, one
plays on the CD. And doesn't one feel glad that Just Married has been released as the opening album of 2007?
First few seconds into the opening number ' Ram Milaye Jodi ' and one can't help but revisit the credit details for the song.
Reason? The song is completely modeled on the Shankar Ehsaan Loy style of music with their trademark Indian melody that has
been their forte. Even the arrangements are very much on the similar lines that only bring the song further closer to SEL kind of
Having said that, Pritam does a very good job in coming up with a catchy track which is a ' shaadi-byaah ' number with a
difference. With the marriage season on and 'Ram Milaye Jodi' being unadulterated harmless fun, it is the sing-with-a-smile
approach by the three singers - Sukhwinder Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan - that mark an enjoyable beginning to the album.
Most happening trend of 2006 continues into 2007 as well as the remix version of ' Ram Milaye Jodi ' is heard later in the
album. Thankfully, it doesn't kill the impact created by the original and only adds on to the fun. Lastly comes a shorter sad version
of the song which is a Sukhwinder Singh solo. This one is a part of film's background score for a particular situation.
Sunidhi Chauhan was good in ' Ram Milaye Jodi ' but she is excellent [as she is in majority of mellow numbers] in
' Gudgudee '. Pritam shows a different facet of his composing style as he arrives with this beautiful melodious track that is
slow, simple, enchanting and heart warming. If you have loved Sunidhi's love songs ' Le Chale' [My Brother Nikhil ] and
' Dheemey Dheemey' [Bas Ek Pal ] in the last 2 years, you would lap up to ' Gudgudee ' with glee too. Looking forward
to many more melodies like these in the months to come!
Just Married was earlier titled ' Baat Pakki '. Hence one could term ' Baat Pakki ' as an ex-title song which
makes an appearance next. Almost like a jingle/nursery rhyme, it is yet another entertaining number after ' Ram Milaye Jodi '
that has a cute appeal to it. Shaan and Neeraj Sridhar sing this love song in a spirited manner while Gulzar saab lyrics are poetic yet
very much accessible to a common man. And yes, Pritam does deserve a mention for managing to build a simple tune around such
A party song amongst a group of youngsters, ' Baat Pakki ' is a feel-good song that should keep the audience engaged and
also help in taking the story forward. Later in the album arrives a remix version of the song which only peps up the situation further.
Presence of Sunidhi Chauhan and Mahalakshmi Iyer only helps in making the song stay on with you even after the album is
What takes the cake is the third and final version of ' Baat Pakki ' which comes towards the very end of the album. The best
seems to have been reserved for the end as this is the most easy-on-ears versions of the three [not that the other two were any
harsh!] as Pritam keeps minimum instruments in the background and rather encourages his singers to be on the fore!
After feeling good about things in life, Gulzar saab and Pritam get Daler Mehndi on board to render a pensive ' Doha '. A
situational sad love track which should appear at a crucial juncture in the film, it is moderately paced. Reminding of Sukhwinder
Singh's ' Layi Vi Na Gayi ' from ' Chalte Chalte', 'Doha ' works well in adding on to the variety of songs heard so far in
Just Married gets a fitting farewell when Sonu Nigam arrives for the first time with ' Jaagte Raho '. An
excellent composition with sensual lyrics by Gulzar that bring to fore the excitement, curiosity and apprehensions of the first night,
' Jaagte Raho ' is the best of the lot! One has to punch himself hard to actually believe that it is Pritam at the helm of
composition since the young composer does exceedingly well in redefining his own style of music and bringing up something as
different and remarkable as ' Jaagte Raho '. A very good effort by the entire team behind the song.
While Pritam and Gulzar saab have done quite well in coming up with a sweet album like Just Married , one also needs to pat
on the back of Meghna Gulzar for the choices she has made for the song situations and a go-ahead that she has eventually given to
the selected songs in the albums. While Vishal Shekhar gave a good beginning to 2006 with Taxi No. 9211 , in case of 2007 it
is Pritam who has got the opportunity to kick start the New Year with a melodious soundtrack!
