Simplink LG

SIMPLINK is a technology that allows you to use your TV remote control to control the essential functions of other devices connected to your TV through HDMI. For example, you can use the LG TV remote control to control your speaker system: adjust the volume, control your Blu-ray player: play, pause, and fast forward. In addition, all devices can automatically turn on (from standby) when the TV is turned on and turn off when the TV is turned off. Simplink uses the HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control ) standard, with the TV acting as the primary device. All devices you want to control must support HDMI-CEC, i.e., be compatible.

Simplink is the commercial name for the HDMI-CEC technology that LG uses in its TVs.

Simplink LG TV why you need it

As the number of different devices, you connect to your TV increases, it could be a satellite receiver, a player, a home theater system, or a streaming device. With each device, you get a remote in a box, but it’s inconvenient to use multiple remotes, especially if you have multiple devices. To get rid of multiple remotes, technology was invented to control devices with a single remote, using an HDMI connection as the channel to transmit control signals.

The history of Simplink, Simplink – HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control).

Briefly, when HDMI was invented, developers introduced CEC into the protocol. CEC was created long before digital television and was originally used in Scart, but it was not widespread due to the small number of devices connected to the television. But when digital televisions came out, they became relevant. You know that marketers made an effort to create Simplink. To write that a TV with HDMI-CEC is not impressive, but to report that a TV with a Simplink system sounds cool. That’s how the Simplink system came about in LG TVs and other devices.

Simplink explained

So you understand that Simplink, when activated, allows you to control other devices that are connected to the TV via HDMI. Simplink is not used by default and must be enabled for use. HDMI CEC is standardized in the HDMI specification. But TV support is optional. So not all TVs have Simplink; I mean older TVs. Now, of course, all LG televisions have Simplink.

How Simplink works

As I said before, Simplink is disabled on the TV out of the box. To control other devices connected to the TV, do the following. Make sure that all devices support HDMI CEC technology. Turn on Simplink on the TV (in the TV menu). If necessary, enable HDMI CEC on other devices. Make sure that all devices are working. To do this, switch off the TV; all devices connected to the TV and controlled by Simplink should switch off. Turn on the TV, and the devices controlled by Simplink should turn on.

Notes:  Devices from different manufacturers and years of manufacture may not work as expected. Usually, the reason for such discrepancies is that the device manufacturer may not have entered all control commands. But this happens quite rarely.

How to enable Simplink on your LG TV

simplink reessayer

The Simplink function (HDMI CEC) is in the HDMI settings. To activate Simplink, take the remote control and do the following.

Press the “ settings ” button ( the gear button ). Select the General item in the menu that appears, which will open another submenu. Click “ Devices “ Click “ HDMI Settings “. You will now see the SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) setting; turn it on.

Simplink does not work; fix it.

  • You should know that the cable uses a separate wire that connects to pin 13 on the HDMI to control devices via HDMI. Many HDMI cable manufacturers save money and sometimes make cables without HDMI CEC support. Check to see if your cable supports HDMI CEC.
  • The LG TV supports up to 3 devices that HDMI can control. If you have more devices, some of them may not be connected.
  • The device you want to control must support HDMI CEC.
  • The device you want to control must have HDMI CEC enabled .

Check that all conditions for proper Simplink operation are met.

What is HDMI-CEC? HDMI Control Explained

HDMI-CEC is a technology that allows you to control multiple devices in your home theater with a single remote. Remember juggling numerous remotes for your TV, VCR, cable box, and stereo? HDMI control simplifies things by using one remote to rule them all.

Turn on the TV, and the stereo fires up. Press play on the Blu-ray player, and the TV switches inputs automatically. Read on to learn more about HDMI-CEC and Anynet+.

Main Topics

When would you use hdmi-cec.

The HDMI CEC function lets you use one remote control to operate two or more HDMI devices connected to your television.

For example, a streaming digital video device, such as a Roku base, can control the Roku device and your television. The more devices you connect via HDMI ports, the more useful the CEC function becomes.

You could use a single remote to power on all your devices – and switch them all off again with one button press.

You can also use it to bypass the remote altogether. Putting a disc in your Blu-ray or DVD player can automatically switch the TV to the correct input and display the movie.

What Are the Advantages?

HDMI-CEC has many advantages that make setting it up worthwhile:

  • Convenience: Control multiple devices with one remote instead of juggling multiple remotes. It makes home entertainment setups easier to use.
  • Automatic input switching: The TV automatically switches to the correct input source when playing a Blu-ray – no more hunting for the correct input.
  • Power syncing: TV and audio devices can turn on/off together. You don’t have to power on each component separately.
  • Volume control: Use your TV remote to control the volume on speakers connected to an AV receiver.
  • Cleaner look: Reduce cable clutter by eliminating extra IR emitters/receivers. HDMI cables send CEC commands, which you often use anyway.
  • Additional features: Other neat functions depending on brand – launching apps, controlling playback, etc. More seamless integration.
  • Simplicity: Overall, it is a more effortless, automated, and seamless home theater experience for all the family.

Ultimately, you will have more space on the table, use fewer batteries and spend less time searching the room for all the missing remotes.

What Can You Control With CEC?

HDMI-CEC enables you to control the functions of several devices connected to your television via HDMI ports. For example, you could use the remote for a Blu-ray player to control the television – or use the television remote to control the Blu-ray player.

While the CEC protocol allows for several different commands, not all of them will be used by your devices. It will depend on the brand. However, the most common CEC commands that most devices will allow are:

  • Controlling the volume of the TV or AV receiver
  • Power on/off all connected devices
  • Select the correct input on your display device
  • One-touch record
  • Pause, play and rewind

Most devices enabled for HDMI-CEC will be able to control these functions with a single remote control.

In some devices, you may be able to disable some of these functions while keeping others enabled. This allows you to fine-tune the way it works in your setup.

What Are Anynet+ and SIMPLINK?

While HDMI-CEC is a relatively standardized function, many manufacturers of HDMI devices use different terms to refer to their respective CEC technologies.

Common examples include Anynet+, the trade name that Samsung uses for its function, and SIMPLINK, the LG corporation’s trade name. Other commonly used trade names for famous brands include:

  • Sharp: Aquos Link
  • Sony: BRAVIA Sync
  • Onkyo: RIHD
  • Toshiba: CE-Link
  • Philips: EasyLink
  • Panasonic: EZ-Sync
  • Pioneer: Kuro Link

As you can see, you may have been using CEC already without realizing it!

How to Set Up Your System

Here are the basic steps to wire up a home theater system to utilize HDMI-CEC:

  • Use HDMI cables to connect all your components like TV, AV receiver, Blu-ray player, streaming device etc. Ensure the devices support HDMI-CEC.
  • Connect HDMI sources like Blu-ray player directly to the TV if less than 3-4 sources. For more sources, connect through an AV receiver first.
  • Enable HDMI-CEC on each component through the settings menu. Brand names for this include Anynet+, SimpLink, EasyLink etc.
  • Set up HDMI-CEC linking and control options in each device, like volume, input control, and power syncing across devices.
  • Use the TV remote to test HDMI-CEC functions like powering devices on/off, controlling volume, and switching inputs automatically.
  • Configure individual CEC settings on each device to enable needed functions like system audio control, ARC, etc.
  • Update firmware on components if needed to ensure CEC compatibility across brands.
  • Connect and configure additional gear like soundbar and game console as needed.

How to Connect a TV and Soundbar

This is another 1-2-3 proposition; simply connect the HDMI cable to the soundbar and the other end to the TV’s HDMI ARC port.

Connecting TV to a Soundbar with HDMI ARC

Then, go to the settings menu of the TV and soundbar to ensure CEC is enabled. You can then turn both on simultaneously and control the soundbar with your television’s volume control.

How to Connect an AV Receiver, Blu-ray Player and TV

You may need to enable HDMI ARC to use CEC with an AV receiver.

Some AV receivers have separate on/off menu items for HDMI ARC and CEC – meaning you can have one enabled while the other is disabled – like in the example below.

Denon AV Receiver HDMI Control and ARC Menu Settings

You might want this if you wish to use HDMI ARC but don’t want to use CEC. For other models, enabling ARC will also allow HDMI CEC to work. It’s all on or all off.

The process for setting everything up with an AV receiver is relatively straightforward:

  • Enable the HDMI control function in the AV receiver
  • Power on all HDMI-connected devices
  • Enable HDMI control in all connected devices
  • Switch the TV to the correct input for the AV receiver output signal
  • Select the correct input on the receiver to make sure a signal is appearing on the TV
  • Use the TV remote to power off the TV
  • Check that all the other devices go into standby

Enabling the HDMI CEC feature on all devices will let you control the AV system and Blu-ray with the TV remote.

How to Turn Control On and Off

Some devices, like soundbars, may have CEC turned on by default. However, for most, you will need to enable it in a menu setting.

Enabling consumer electronics control on most high-definition televisions is simply a matter of going to the TV’s respective Settings listing and choosing “System.” The system function will enable you to select “Control other devices,” – which is the CEC function.

The actual steps will be different for each brand. But the general idea is the same. This article has a helpful list of how to enable CEC for different TVs .

When using a brand with its own HDMI-CEC system, the settings section is where you would typically initiate the communications. For example, you would press the settings button on the remote with an LG television to open the settings menu.

Once open, you choose Connection on the left menu and then HDMI Device Settings. This may vary depending on the model that you have:

How to Enable SIMPLINK in LG TV Settings Menu

The SIMPLINK menu lets you turn it on and confirm it is working.

SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) Enabled in LG TV Menu

Notice that the description provided by LG says it may not work as expected unless you connect to another LG device. Welcome to the world of HDMI-CEC!

Another example is Anynet+ for a Samsung TV. The basic idea is the same.

Turn on the Anynet+ option within the settings menu – and then connect the TV to a compliant device via HDMI.

Enabling Anynet+ on a Samsung TV

If you are using Anynet+ to control your Samsung TV and Blu-ray player, this should work without problems. However, if you have a Samsung TV and a Sony Blu-ray player, you may experience problems with the devices talking to each other.

It should work, but you’ll just have to try it to be sure.

Should You Use Automatic Switching?

The quirky world of high-tech electronics and cloud streaming capabilities can cause conflicts among different brands and units.

An LG system with its own proprietary system might not work as well with a device designed to function with a more widely distributed Roku TV, for example.

In this case, you may not be able to rely on HDMI control. Some people also find using two or three remotes easier than one. They do not have to toggle and switch between devices, especially when trying to mute the volume on an AV system.

You can sometimes get a situation where a device will switch on when you don’t want it to – or your TV switches input when you are already watching something else.

If you are careful when using your remotes, you should be fine. But there are times when things appear to have a mind of their own.

Finally, CEC support isn’t mandatory on HDMI devices. So, it may be that your device doesn’t allow for this type of control at all.

How to Fix a Problem

When it works, HDMI control can be an excellent way to streamline your home theater system. However, it is a technology that can have problems. Here are a few ideas to try and fix any issues that you might be having:

  • Make sure that CEC is enabled on all your devices.
  • Try using a different HDMI cable. Ideally, change all the cables in the chain.
  • Try and get it working with the most straightforward setup you can. Disconnect all devices apart from the ones you are having issues with. Then, add other devices back into the chain.
  • If you are using an AV receiver, try connecting the external device directly to the TV, and see if this works. If it does, the problem might be with the AV receiver in the middle of the chain.
  • Make sure your remote control is actually working! Put in new batteries?

Hopefully, some of these troubleshooting ideas will help you find the problem. If it still doesn’t work, you may have to accept that your devices are incompatible, and you will need an alternative solution.

What Are the Alternatives?

The most obvious alternative to using HDMI-CEC would be a universal remote, like a Logitech Harmony. This controls your television and any connected devices with a single remote – much like with CEC.

The advantage of universal remotes is you are not relying on the CEC communication to work as advertised. And you can program the remote to work precisely how you wish.

Logitech Harmony remotes are the top dog of the universal remote world. I’ve had a couple of different models over the years.

They are expensive, though, and new ones are currently hard to find. An alternative is to buy a cheap universal remote at Amazon (other retailers are available!).

Philips Universal Remote Control

Some AV receivers and TVs also come with universal remotes that can be programmed with codes for commonly used devices. You also could use Bluetooth or cloud-based streaming to communicate with no cable on many newer devices.

The main thing to remember is that if you aren’t using HDMI-CEC, it is best to switch off the CEC control on all your devices. This will keep things more straightforward and ensure you don’t get unpredictable behavior when using the universal remote.

If you don’t disable HDMI control, devices may turn on and off when you don’t want them to. Having said that, some devices link HDMI ARC and HDMI control. So, if you switch off HDMI control, then HDMI ARC may stop working.

Just think about what you need to do before you turn things off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some common questions.

What Does HDMI-CEC Stand For?

HDMI is an acronym for high-definition multimedia interface, while CEC is for consumer electronics control. The two combined become HDMI-CEC.

Does HDMI Control Require a Special Cable?

HDMI CEC does not require a special cable; the equipment must support the feature. HDMI CEC has been around since the beginning of the HDMI specification and is mandatory. So, it will work with any HDMI cable you have – whether old or new. However, poorly made cables might cause issues. So, if you have a problem, try a different cable.

When Was HDMI Control Introduced?

Although defined in the original HDMI 1.0 specification, the HDMI CEC feature was fully supported by HDMI 1.2a in December 2005, when consumer demand for Blu-ray players and audio receivers created a need to use a single remote to operate multiple devices.

Is HDMI-CEC the Same as HDMI ARC?

No. HDMI CEC only controls connected HDMI devices. The ARC in HDMI ARC is an acronym for Audio Return Channel and makes it possible for the audio signal to travel both ways using the same cable. However, in some devices, you may need to enable HDMI Control to make HDMI ARC work. Other devices may have separate controls for each.

Simplink ‘Please Try Again’ Error : How to resolve it?

Simplink on LG TV

The Simplink technology of LG TV lets you to use the TV remote for controlling the normal functions of other devices connected to the TV through HDMI. Along with this, all the devices will turn on automatically when you turn on the TV and just like that it will turn off when you turn off the TV. It uses the HDMI-CEC standard and the TV works as the main device and so the control devices should be compatible.

The technology of HDMI CEC was invented before the arrival of smartphones in the Android operating system and so the special thrust of the flat panel TVs to the development of it has not been received. Usually, manufacturers use and apply it in their devices and invent their own names. So, this technology has been named Simplink by LG. It can be considered as the commercial term used for the LG TV technology from LG for the normal device control with the use of HDMI CEC protocol.

The HDMI CEC has been standardized in HDMI specification. But its support on TV is optional. If you want Simplink to work properly, you should have a controller routine in the OS on the TV. But still the feature has been facing a lot of errors in its working process and one of them is the ‘Please Try Again’ error.

Users have came up with various complaints related to this error. Users said that they faced this error periodically on their LG TV. This happens anytime either when someone is watching the TV and when someone is playing games. Its very evident that when this error occurs, users cannot access any content on their TV or Simplink. Let me also tell you that the ‘Please Try Again’ error is a common issue in almost every device but the negative part here is that you cannot exactly point out a root cause of this error because it might be linked with your internet connection or with your device. Well, if you are facing this error, you can try to fix it by yourself by following these steps –

  • Unplug the HDMI cable and unplug the TV from the power source. Wait for a few minutes and then turn it on.
  • If you are using a cable box or satellite receiver, unplug it for reset and plug it back after 60 seconds.
  • If you are using a Roku, Xbox, PS2, PS3, PS4 or any other video game console, you can try to disconnect and unplug any of them.
  • Run a factory reset on your LG TV.

First refuelling for Russia’s Akademik Lomonosov floating NPP

!{Model.Description}

simplink reessayer

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.

The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.

The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.

Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.

Best virgin moscow mule recipe.

Best Virgin Moscow Mule Recipe

Nov 30, 2019

Wherever there are great cocktail recipes, there are equally fabulous mocktail recipes for those of us who enjoy all the style and taste of cocktails without liquor. In this post, we reveal the best recipe for the Virgin Moscow Mule on the internet! Let's get started!

Introduction

A cocktail is essentially a blend of two or more ingredients of which at least one is alcoholic. As of late, cocktails are getting more inventive with upwards of four and five ingredients.

The Moscow Mule keeps it classically simple with only three ingredients that most of us already have at home. Vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice.

The intense burn of the ginger beer blended with the refreshing sourness of lime juice delights the palate and warms you right up from the first sip.

There are a multitude of practical reasons for choosing a mocktail over a cocktail.

This could include health concerns and diet practices. Or, maybe you're the designated driver and don't want to miss out on a fun night with your social group.

Whatever the reason, mocktails make sure no one is left out.

Most will say that a mocktail is simply a recipe for any cocktail sans the alcoholic ingredient(s), but we're going to show you fantastic ways to enjoy a Virgin Moscow Mule without sacrificing flavor or taste.

Ingredients:

  • Sparkling Water
  • Fresh limes
  • Ginger beer
  • Simple syrup

Instructions:

  • You can either muddle a couple of fresh limes or use freshly squeezed lime juice. We won't tell if you decide to do both ;)
  • Next, combine your favorite sparkling water and a splash of ginger beer
  • Add a serving of simple syrup (1 part water, 1 part sugar)
  • Stir. If you have a shaker on hand, you can also shake the combined ingredients together, but be cautious when pouring as the turbulence may have created a little extra fizz from the sparkling water.
  • Pour over ice

With this excellent non-alcoholic version of the Moscow Mule, you can have guilt-free seconds or even thirds!

Moscow Muled copper mugs filled with clear liquid ice cubs and lime slices

Health Benefits

Typically, in every 6 oz serving of the traditional Moscow Mule cocktail there are approximately 180 to 200 calories.

One fantastic upside of making a Moscow Mule mocktail is that with the extraction of vodka (say 1.5 oz) you can eliminate around 96 calories, meaning that a typical 6 oz serving is approximately 100 calories or less!

Layers of Flavors

one whole ginger beside four sliced ginger

Now that we've laid the foundations, it's time to explore the variations and wonderful layers we can add to perfect our Virgin Moscow Mule.  With these alterations, your mocktails are sure to be enjoyed by all!

In addition to following the preparation of the basic recipe noted above, we suggest adding a few slices of fresh ginger to the mix.

To fully extract the flavors of the ginger, consider muddling it with your limes. Be careful to strain afterward, unless you want to be sucking up bits of ginger through your straw and set your mouth ablaze!

Coupled with the ginger beer, this is sure to amplify the smoldering tones of the original cocktail's taste.

Be sure to use ginger beer and not ginger ale. Most commercially sold ginger beer, though fermented, is alcohol-free. It differs from ginger ale in the way it is manufactured. The intensity of ginger essence in ginger ale isn’t comparable to that of the essence in ginger beer.

So, if you decide to replace ginger beer with ginger ale, you’ll be disappointed at the silenced flavors of ginger in your drink. Essentially, what you’d be drinking wouldn’t be a Moscow Mule at all.

Take it from us, use ginger beer!

If you would rather direct your variations or additions towards the sweet and fruity citrus flavors of your Virgin Mule, you can switch out the simple syrup for a fruit-flavored syrup.

Use a lime-flavored syrup if you would like to stay true to the original characteristics of the classic Moscow Mule.

If you're looking to put a spin on your virgin mule, don't be afraid to try any berry-flavored syrup for an extra layer of fruity goodness.

Sugar-Free Options

Not everyone is a fan of sugar and all things sweet. With this modification, the recipe can accommodate those of us who are patrolling our sugar intake due to dieting and/or health concerns.

More specifically, if you're counting calories or looking to steer clear of sugar all together, you can modify the Virgin Mule recipe by using sugar-free syrup.

With 8 grams of sugar in one tablespoon of conventional syrup, the sugar-free option is a great way to go. A couple of dollops of the sugar-free syrup is a guilt-free way to enjoy the sweetness of this mocktail without the guilt.

Depending on your location and accessibility, you may or may not find brands of sugar-free syrup.  All the merrier if you can!

If you can’t find sugar-free syrup, another option is to use flavored sparkling water to add some additional flavour to your mocktail.  Some brands of flavored sparkling water are sold in tasty flavors with no sugar, no sweeteners, and no calories. Furthermore, the carbonation in sparkling water will augment the invigorating fizz of the ginger beer.  Win-win-win!

Serving Time

Just because we've decided to forego the alcohol component doesn't mean we're also forsaking presentation. We 're all about balance in life as well as in mocktails. So, if one component of the drink has been removed, another must be added!

And what better place to embellish then in the presentation?

It's no secret that the Moscow Mule is served in a copper mug . There are a variety of reasons why, and one of them is that copper is trusted to maintain a cooler temperature. In addition, the copper adds a "zing" to the flavor of the cocktail with each sip.

Whatever the reason, we can't deny that a Moscow Mule served in a copper mug just looks and feels right. The same is to be said for a Virgin Mule.

Besides, if we’re talking about looks, no one has to know you’re drinking a mocktail if you don’t want them to. The copper mug will keep your secret!

In lieu of serving your Virgin Mule in a copper mug, you can serve it in any bar glass. With so many types and shapes of cocktail glasses, there really is no reason why you couldn't enjoy your mocktail in a highball, an old fashion glass, or even a martini glass.

Whatever you have on hand should work just fine!

Garnish Like a Pro

Add a lime wedge to the rim and voila!

Want to take things up a notch? Drag the lime wedge along the rim of your glass, allowing the citrus to coat the edge. Turn your glass upside down into a plate of salt or sugar.

Extra points for presentation and added flavor with every sip!

For herb garnishes, clap your choice of herbs between your hands to bruise it lightly and release its essential oils and aroma.  Mint works great!

And here's an extra tip. If you have them, sprinkle a few pomegranate seeds on the surface of your drink! However, be careful if drinking with a straw as those little seeds will get sucked right up! It’s also a beautiful addition to your Virgin Mule, as you can see in the photo below.

Moscow Muled copper mug filled with liquid cranberries and sliced lime

We hope this article has been useful in helping to introduce you to the Virgin Moscow Mule! The Moscow Mule is an incredibly versatile drink, so don't hesitate to let your creativity push you to experiment with new variations. And, if you want to take your presentation and style up a notch, make sure to equip your kitchen bar with a few copper mugs !
