5 Feb Kashmir Solidarity Day: Call for Strengthening Pakistan’s Kashmir Policy

speech on kashmir day 5 february in pakistan in urdu

Kashmir solidarity day is observed every year on 5 February in Pakistan to support the freedom struggle of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally occupied Kashmir. Kashmir solidarity day was observed in 1990, first time in history when Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif called the nation to observe the day for the succession of the freedom fighter movement. Later, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) announced a public holiday on 5th February to express solidarity with Kashmir.

This day is observed as a holiday all over the country, involving the orchestration of conferences, seminars, rallies at political level in various parts of the country. Additionally, special events are arranged at the school and college levels to make students aware of the importance of the day. During these events, students represent Kashmiri culture and show their solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

Kashmir has been under brutal occupation of India for 75 years since partition. Despite United Nations resolutions calling for the contemplation of the will of Kashmir in deciding disposition of the state, people of Kashmir are deprived of their rightful rights. For instance, UNSCR 38(1948) and 122 (1957) clearly stated that any change in J&K would be informed immediately to the security council and any action by IIOJ&K to change the status or shape of the region would not represent the disposition of the state as per the resolutions of UNSC. India’s attempt to amalgamate the territory of Kashmir into the Indian Union by revoking Article 370 and 35, which guaranteed special autonomy status to the territory on August 5, 2019, was an ostensible violation of United Nations resolutions.

Since 1989, the Indian forces in occupied territories have been responsible for the deaths of 96,000 Kashmiris, the widowing of approximately 23,000 women, the rape of over 11,250 women and girls, and the destruction of more than 100,000 homes, including schools and houses. As of 2019, there were approximately 700,000 Indian armed forces in the region, and this number increased by at least 35,000 before the August 2019 lockdown, which resulted in the unilateral revocation of Kashmir’s special status within the Indian Union. Due to a communication blackout and the erosion of the judiciary’s authority, it is challenging to ascertain the number and whereabouts of detained individuals, as some Kashmiris are being deported under administrative detention to various states, where some have died. Human rights activists and journalists are apprehended on false charges of terrorism, alleging links with terrorist organizations. By September 2020, about 600,000 domiciles were issued to people outside the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). India’s motivation for this action is believed to be a response to potential challenges, particularly if it has to hold a plebiscite in the future under international pressure, ensuring support from Hindus who might choose to align with India.

Furthermore, the genocide photos of the two Indian-origin soldiers posing in the Palestinian child’s bed after killing him raised serious apprehensions regarding the ethnic cleansing of Muslims in India and Kashmir. The Indian media itself endorsed the Indian forces’ act of abetting Israel in the fight against Hamas. S. Chakravorty (an Indian diplomat) said, ‘I don’t know why we don’t follow the Israeli model. If Israel can follow it in the Middle East, we can also do it in Kashmir.’ On one occasion in 2019, the Indian plan of genocide was revealed with the slip of the tongue of an Indian diplomat when he said India would adopt Israel’s model to ethnically cleanse Muslims and resettle the Hindu population in Kashmir. Additionally, an Indian priest appealed to Israel to let his followers in India join the fight because whatever cancer they are fighting with, India has been suffering from it for decades.

Pakistan has always supported the right of self-determination of the people of Kashmir and raised its concerns at the international level. In a recent visit to the USA on December 16, 2023, the Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Muneer, underscored the need to resolve the Kashmir conflict according to United Nations resolutions. Furthermore, in a recent move, the appointment of Meshal Malik, the wife of Kashmiri separatist movement leader Yasin Malik, as a Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on human rights is an attempt to revive the Kashmir agenda in the Prime Minister’s office of Pakistan.

This doesn’t stop here; Pakistan needs to rejuvenate its policy towards Kashmir. If India can invest in digital propaganda against Pakistan and Kashmir, Pakistan should develop a robust policy by making investments in Kashmir research institutes and literature work to provide researchers with incentives to keep highlighting the cause of Kashmir. They should also engage young people through workshops and intensive discussions – ensuring the process is inclusive of people with a range of different opinions and from different backgrounds.

Along with that, the youth of Pakistan should play its role in the Kashmir cause. The purpose of revoking Article 370 was to silence the voices of Kashmiris, and we should keep it alive by continuing to write about how India is adopting a Rashtra policy to ethnically cleanse Kashmiris, fortifying it with absurd verdicts based on political agendas rather than a legitimate cause. Namely, the Indian Supreme Court verdict on the revocation of Article 370 by the Indian government.

On September 20th, 2019, Kashmiri artists joined forces with British-Kashmiri artist Sumaya Teli and Kashmiri-American artist Nouf Bazaz to emphasize the theme “Resist to Exist.” This collaborative event aimed to spotlight the Kashmiri struggle against Indian occupation and militarization, advocating for the right to Kashmiri self-determination. The initiative gained widespread attention globally, reaching various parts of the world and serving as a means for youth to comprehend the Kashmir situation and the mistreatment of Kashmiri people by India.

The youth of Pakistan should also engage in dialogue on the Kashmir conflict by organizing seminars, conferences, and debating competitions at their respective institutes. Moreover, they should utilize social media platforms to connect with the Kashmiri diaspora and individuals actively involved in the Kashmir struggle. Hosting dialogues on Twitter spaces can help in continuously highlighting the Kashmir freedom struggle and sharing the stories of victims of the brutal Indian occupation there.

Over the past six to seven years, the Kashmir Conflict has witnessed a transformation through the influence of digital media, creating an environment that enables young researchers and activists to access information and grasp the intricacies of the conflict, while also championing the cause of freedom for future generations. Being a diplomatic supporter of Kashmir cause and a claimant of the territory, more efforts are requisite from Pakistan’s side.

speech on kashmir day 5 february in pakistan in urdu

The President of Pakistan

speech on kashmir day 5 february in pakistan in urdu

Message from President of Pakistan on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day i.e., 5th February 2023

Today, we observe Kashmir Solidarity Day to express Pakistan’s unflinching support for the legitimate and just struggle of the Kashmiri people for the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination. On this occasion, we pay rich tribute to the selfless sacrifices made by our Kashmiri brothers and sisters during their decades-old resistance to the Indian occupation.

We observe this day to draw the attention of the international community towards the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions which provide that the final disposition of the Jammu and Kashmir Dispute would be made in accordance with the will of the people, expressed through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite conducted under the auspices of the United Nations.

Over the last 75 years, the Indian occupation forces have unleashed a reign of terror and carried out a relentless campaign to intimidate and suppress the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The presence of more than 900,000 Indian armed personnel has turned the region into an open prison. India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 in IIOJK were a blatant violation of international law, including the UN Charter, the 4 th Geneva Convention, and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. India has been consistently engaged in efforts to further entrench these illegal measures through artificial demographic changes, political engineering, economic marginalization of the local people and an assault on Kashmiri identity and culture.

It is alarming that India is undertaking demographic changes in IIOJK by bringing non-Kashmiris to settle in the valley. India’s heavy-handed approach frequently manifests itself in extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, custodial torture, enforced disappearances and the use of pellet guns in IIOJK. India has muzzled the media and incarcerated the Kashmiri leadership and defenders of human rights. These excesses and brutalities have been well-documented by several human rights organizations and international media outlets.

Today, Pakistan calls upon India to allow unfettered access to the UN and OIC observers, international media and human rights organizations to IIOJK to obtain first-hand information about the situation there, and investigate and report the human rights violations. Pakistan also urges the international community and organizations to take practical steps to hold India accountable for its gross and widespread human rights violations in IIOJK.

Pakistan has consistently maintained that a lasting solution to the Jammu and Kashmir Dispute is possible only in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan will continue to extend its unstinted moral, diplomatic and political support for this just cause.

5 February Kashmir Day Speech In Urdu

(you can add poetry in this speech according to the passage)

Yakinan nahi! Pakistan ko azad huy aj 70 saal guzar gay or aik pakistani bht fakhar se khud ko pakistani keh kr apni azadi pr itrata ha. Lekin aj b kashmeri awam muhammad bin kasim jesy leader ka intzar kr rahy hn k koi ay jo unhy ghulami, zulm o sitm k andhero se nikal kr azadi ki roshniyo ki trf lay ay. Isi Jazba-e-hakjehti ko zer-e-ghor laty huy aj mane apny alfazo ko youm-e-yakjehti kashmir yani 5 february k lia kalam band kia ha.

Aj bhi hamary kashmeri bhai or behan ghulami ki chakki main pis rahy hn. Lekin aj is tarakki or aman k dor main bhi jb koi kashmeri musalman najaiz nukta ajal ka shikar hota ha to ku koi ba asar o wasook awaz nahi uthai jati ma siway kashmiriyo k pukhta irado or jazbo k?

Is bat main koi 2 ray nahi ha k Kashmir ki Azadi k lia kai jangy lari gaie, mohim chalai gaie, Aqwam-e-Mutahda k tehat  bht bar Pakistan or India k drmiyan masla kashmir ko ly kr kai muhdy bhi ty pay lekin india ki chalaki or bayemani hamesha Kashmeri musalmo k hakook ko dabati rahi ha. Kashmeri apni zindgi ko azadi se guzarny main b mohtaj hain or hr waqt kisi maseeha k muntazir hn.

Lehaza aj hamara yeha akhty hony ka maqsad youm e kashmir yani yakjehtiye kashmir he ha. Hakoomati adaro or aala afsaran se apeal ha k koi pukhta ikdam kiye jayn or kashmir ko azad krwaya jay. Is muamly main aam awam ko bhi izhar e yakjehti ki zroorat ha. Ta k jb waha kashmir main koi musalman shaheed ho to us k azeezo or rishtydaro ko ye ahsah rahy k hamary hamdard musalman bhai or behnay hain jo hamari azadi k lia aj bhi syasi jang lar rahy hn.

Or akhir main, ma Quaid ki us awaz ko apk sath buland krna chahu ga k jis main unho he pegham dia k “Kashmir bany ga pakistan” OR “kashmir ki azadi tk kashmeri or pakistani awam ka aik he nara rahy ga “Kashmir ki azadi tk jang rahy ge, jang rahy ge”. !!!

speech on kashmir day 5 february in pakistan in urdu

  • Pakistan observes Kashmir Solidarity Day every year on Feb. 5 to express its support for people living in Indian-administered Kashmir
  • Internationally disputed region has been a flashpoint between India and Pakistan since their independence from British rule in 1947

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed his “unwavering support” for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir territory as Pakistan observes a public holiday today, Monday, to show solidarity with Kashmiris.

The Muslim-majority Himalayan region of Kashmir has been a flashpoint between Pakistan and India since their independence from British rule in 1947. Both Pakistan and India rule parts of the Himalayan territory, but claim it in full and have fought two out of three wars over the disputed region.

Pakistan has repeatedly called for the right of self-determination for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir and urged New Delhi to hold a plebiscite in line with the resolutions of the UN Security Council.

“He [Kakar] said that the ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ was annually observed on the 5th February to express Pakistan’s unwavering support to the Kashmiri people’s just struggle for realization of their right to self-determination,” the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) said, quoting Kakar.

Every year on Feb. 5, people from all walks of life hold demonstrations, form human chains and organize events in many parts of the country to express their support for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir.

In connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day, a walk is scheduled to be held in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad today, which would see participation from cabinet members, parliamentarians and people from different walks of life, according to the state-run Radio Pakistan.

In his message for Kashmir Solidarity Day, Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi said Kashmiris have been struggling for their rights for the past 76 years.

“Today, IIOJK [Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir] is one of the most militarized zones in the world. Kashmiris are living in an environment of fear and intimidation,” Alvi said.

In December last year, India’s Supreme Court upheld a 2019 decision by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to revoke special autonomous status for Indian-administered Kashmir and set a deadline of Sept. 30 next year for state polls to be held.

The Modi government’s repealing of Article 370 of the constitution in 2019 allowed people from the rest of the country to have the right to acquire property in Indian-administered Kashmir and settle there permanently.

Kashmiris, rights groups and critics of the Indian government had termed the move an attempt to dilute the demographics of the only Muslim-majority Indian state.

It also heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, with Islamabad vowing not to normalize ties with New Delhi until it reverses its August 5 move.

Pakistan, china sign multiple mous focusing on flood rehabilitation, it and development.

speech on kashmir day 5 february in pakistan in urdu

  • Agreements were signed during meeting of Chinese International Development Cooperation Agency officials with PM Sharif
  • Pakistan PM commended CIDCA for its vital support during 2022 floods that killed 1,739 people, caused $30 bln losses

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China on Tuesday signed multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) that focused on flood rehabilitation, information and communication technologies, and development, Pakistani state media reported.

The agreements were signed during a meeting between a high-level delegation of the Chinese International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), led by Luo Zhaohui, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

The MoUs pertained to flood rehabilitation, information and communication technologies, Juncao technology to address soil erosion and desertification, and China-Pakistan Development Cooperation Planning (2024-2028).

“Welcoming the delegation, the Prime Minister said China is Pakistan’s most trusted friend and appreciated China’s steadfast support to Pakistan,” the state-run Radio Pakistan broadcaster reported.

“Acknowledging CIDCA’s pivotal role in bolstering Pakistan’s economic development, the Prime Minister specifically commended CIDCA for its vital support during the 2022 floods and for its relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts in Pakistan.”

In 2022, downpours swelled rivers and at one point flooded a third of Pakistan, killing 1,739 people. The floods also caused $30 billion in damages, from which Pakistan is still trying to rebuild.

The prime minister witnessed the signing of agreements alongside a Letter of Exchange on the establishment of a First Aid Center in Balochistan and Protocol on Cooperation in Human Resources Development under the Global Development Initiative.

“These agreements signify the deepening cooperation between Pakistan and China across various sectors,” the report read.

The meeting was also attended by China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, members of PM Sharif’s cabinet and senior officials of Pakistan.

Beijing has been one of Islamabad’s most reliable foreign partners in recent years, readily providing financial assistance to bail out its often-struggling neighbor.

In July last year, China granted Pakistan a two-year rollover on a $2.4 billion loan, giving the debt-saddled nation much-needed breathing space as it tackled a balance-of-payments crisis.

China has inked more than two trillion dollars in contracts around the world under its Belt and Road investment scheme, with billions pouring into infrastructure projects in Pakistan.

Three militants killed, one arrested in pakistan’s restive southwest — military.

speech on kashmir day 5 february in pakistan in urdu

  • The militants were killed in an intelligence-based operation in the Pishin district of Balochistan
  • Military says one militant apprehended in injured condition was identified as an Afghan national

ISLAMABAD: Three militants were killed and another was injured in a shootout with security forces in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, the Pakistani military said on Tuesday.

The shootout took place during an intelligence-based operation in the Pishin district of Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing.

The militants were killed after intense exchange of fire during the conduct of operation.

“One terrorist was apprehended in injured condition, who has been identified as an Afghan national,” the ISPR said in a statement.

“A huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives was also recovered during the operation.”

Balochistan, which borders Afghanistan, is the site of a long-running insurgency by separatists and religiously motivated militants, who have recently carried out a number of attacks in the region.

Gunmen this month killed nine people, who hailed from the eastern Punjab province, after abducting them from a bus on a highway near the Noshki district. The outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack.

Although the government says it has quelled militancy, violence by various groups has persisted in the region.

Last year, Islamabad also set a November deadline for all undocumented migrants, mostly Afghans, to leave or face arrest, forcing more than 500,000 Afghans to flee Pakistan.

Pakistan defended the crackdown by pointing to security concerns and is expected to begin a renewed push to deport more Afghan nationals in the coming weeks, according to officials.

At $306 million, Pakistan reported highest ever single-month IT exports in March — representative

speech on kashmir day 5 february in pakistan in urdu

  • The Pakistani IT exports surged by $49 million in the last month from $257 million recorded in Feb.
  • Representative calls the achievement a result of hard work of all stakeholders and favorable policies

KARACHI: Pakistan recorded highest ever single-month exports in the field of information technology (IT) in March, chairman of the country’s software houses association said on Tuesday.

The Pakistani IT exports surged by $49 million in the last month from $257 million recorded in the month of February, according to Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA).

The exports, which stood at $225 million in March 2023, recorded an increase of 36 percent on a year-on-year basis.

“Crossing $300 million in a single month makes the IT industry second to only textiles in Pakistan,” Zohaib Khan, the P@SHA chairman, said in a statement.

“It is pertinent to note that IT exports for the month of March 2024 is also the highest exports of the industry in a single month in the country’s history.”

Khan said this achievement was a result of hard work of all stakeholders and favorable government policies over the past several months.

“All we need is policy continuity coupled with new initiatives vis-a-vis skills development and branding of the IT sector on a global-scale for the country’s soft-image,” he said, urging the country’s finance and revenue authorities to give due consideration and incorporation to their budgetary proposals that had already been submitted at concerned forums.

The P@SHA Chief reiterated the IT industry would fully support the initiatives of the Pakistani IT ministry in achieving the export target of $3.5 billion for the outgoing fiscal year, which ends in June.

“We should aim for $5 billion for the forthcoming fiscal year, i.e. FY25,” he added.

PepsiCo. reports double-digit revenue growth in Pakistan, China and other nations

speech on kashmir day 5 february in pakistan in urdu

  • The company reported better-than-expected revenue in first quarter on strong demand for snacks, beverages
  • PepsiCo. has leaned heavily into price increases over the past two years to combat higher ingredient costs

PepsiCo. reported better-than-expected revenue in the first quarter on strong international demand for its snacks and beverages.

The Purchase, New York-based company said revenue rose 2 percent to $18.3 billion for the January-April period. That was higher than the $18 billion Wall Street forecast, according to analysts polled by FactSet.

Pepsi reaffirmed its financial guidance for 2024, including organic revenue growth of 4 percent. The company has said it expects to return to more normal rates of growth this year after several years of inflation-driven price increases.

That may have disappointed investors who have grown used to stronger growth at PepsiCo. Last year organic revenue grew 9.5 percent, for example. PepsiCo’s shares fell more than 2.5 percent in morning trading Tuesday.

In North America Frito-Lay revenue rose 2 percent while Pepsi beverage sales were up 1 percent. Sales were hurt by a recall early in the quarter of Quaker Oats cereal, bars and snacks because of potential contamination with salmonella. Quaker Foods sales dropped 24 percent during the quarter.

But the company saw 11 percent sales growth in Asia Pacific and 10 percent sales growth in Europe.

PepsiCo. Chairman and CEO Ramon Laguarta said the company is optimistic that consumer demand will continue to rise this year in the US and elsewhere.

“The consumer, globally, we think is very resilient,” Laguarta said during a conference call with investors. “It’s basically supported by two facts: very low unemployment or quite low unemployment globally and wages growing at a good pace in the majority of the countries where we participate.”

In Europe, sales were driven by demand in Eastern Europe, Laguarta said. In Western Europe, consumers saw fewer PepsiCo. snacks and drinks on grocery shelves during the quarter. Carrefour, one of Europe’s largest supermarket chains, announced in January that it was pulling PepsiCo. products from stores in France, Belgium, Spain and Italy due to unacceptable price increases. The two companies resolved their pricing dispute and Carrefour began restocking PepsiCo. products in early April.

The company said it also saw double-digit organic revenue growth in Mexico, Brazil, Egypt, Pakistan, China and Australia.

But Laguarta added a note of caution. Consumer spending in China remains cautious, he said, and PepsiCo. is also keeping a close eye on lower-income consumers in the US, who are buying fewer snacks or switching to store brands in the face of higher prices.

“The lower-income consumer in the US is stretched,” he said. “That’s a consumer that we are emphasizing in our commercial programs and we are learning how best to keep that consumer in our categories.”

PepsiCo. has leaned heavily into price increases over the past two years to combat higher ingredient costs. The fourth quarter of 2023 was the company’s eighth straight quarter of double-digit percentage price increases.

Those increases moderated in the first quarter. PepsiCo. said net pricing was up 5 percent globally during the quarter, while volumes fell 2 percent. PepsiCo. has said some of that volume decline is strategic. The company has been shrinking package sizes to meet consumer demand for convenience and portion control.

PepsiCo. said its net earnings rose 5.6 percent to $2 billion in the first quarter. Excluding special items, the company earned $1.61 per share. That beat Wall Street’s forecast of $1.52.

Pakistani families urge President Raisi to release cargo crew detained in Iran

speech on kashmir day 5 february in pakistan in urdu

  • Jalal Ahmed, the cargo boat captain, was on his way from Dubai to Somalia when he was caught by Iran four years ago
  • The families of detained Pakistanis say they have not been informed of the charges against Ahmed, others on the boat

KARACHI: Families of Pakistani crew members aboard a cargo boat, which set sail from Dubai to Somalia but was detained by Iran four years ago, appealed to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Tuesday for their release, citing a lack of cooperation from Iranian authorities. Raisi, who arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a three-day visit, flew to Karachi today after a brief stopover in Lahore. During his stay in Karachi, the Iranian president is slated to meet with government officials and businessmen. The family of Jalal Ahmed, the captain of the cargo boat, along with others, staged a demonstration in front of the Karachi Press Club to highlight the difficulties they have faced in securing the release of their loved ones, who have been incarcerated in Iran’s Minab city for the past four years. “We have come here because my brother is imprisoned in the city of Minab in Iran,” Gul Saba, Ahmed’s sister, told Arab News while urging Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to intervene in the matter to secure the release of the detained crew members. “We also appeal to Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi to release our brother and the other ten [people] who accompanied him,” she continued. Saba added her 45-year-old brother, who has three children, was transporting cargo from Dubai to Somalia when his ship was stopped by the Iranian authorities. She said her family members had traveled to Iran, but there had been no response from Iranian authorities. “No statement has come [from Iranian officials] regarding why [the Pakistani crew members] have been imprisoned,” she added. “There may be no crime involved as their cargo ship was legal.” Arab News could not independently verify the claims made by the affected family. Jawad Jalal, Ahmed’s 10-year-old son, also participated in the protest along with his mother, Sadia Ahmed, and aunt Saba. “When I was six, my father was imprisoned in Iran,” he said while reminiscing how Ahmed escorted him to school before being detained. “He should be released so he can drop me off at school once again,” he continued, holding a placard emblazoned with the demand for his father’s release from Iranian prison.

Best emotional Speech on Kashmir day in English

My honor, Kashmiris have done what they could. But the history brings to light the question: O Pakistanis, what have you done for your fellow Kashmiris? They have suffered for a long – just because of their demand for annexation to Pakistani. What have you given in return?

Let's recall today the message of Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who, while addressing the Kashmiris laid the course of action for all of us. While addressing the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference on 26 Oct 1946 – he remarkably said:

My message and earnest appeal to Muslim leadership in Kashmir is: Organize your people, educationally, socially, economically and politically and set your hand on constructive nation building programme.

Mr. President, we need to revive our conscience, awake our senses and follow the call to action. This day should not merely be a commemorative day. It should be the day of allegiance. The day of pledging allegiance to the cause. Kashmir will never be sovereign, Mr. President, unless we get to fix the internal cracks in Muslim Ummah. Unless the sectarian fire is extinguished.

Unless our Muslim stakeholders take pain for Kashmiris. Unless the Kashmir dispute is voiced well in the international community. Unless the world comes to know the heinous atrocities of so-called democratic India in Kashmir over seventy years. Unless we are united. Unless we are devoted. Let's make a vow to God, to our conscience, to our blood – for surfacing the Kashmir issue with all zeal and zest.

With the immense hope that one day the sun of independence will dawn upon the beautiful valley. And our fellow Kashmiris will have a peaceful and prosperous life. As Faiz Ahmed Faiz writes:

And we oppressed Beneath our feet will have this earth shiver, shake and beat And heads of rulers will be struck With crackling lightening and thunder roars.

Indian throne will soon be reduced to ashes; Kashmir will be ours! Pakistan Zindabad!

Kashmir Day 2024 in Pakistan

Kashmir Day or Kashmir Solidarity Day is a public holiday in Pakistan on February 5 each year. It focuses on showing Pakistan’s support and unity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir, their ongoing freedom struggle, and to pay homage to Kashmiri martyrs who lost their lives fighting for Kashmir’s freedom.

Is Kashmir Day a Public Holiday?

Kashmir Day is a public holiday. It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is dedicated to supporting the people of Kashmir and recognizing the freedom struggles in part of the region (view of landscape in Kashmir pictured above).

What Do People Do?

Kashmir Day is observed by people throughout Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK). It is an internationally recognized day observed by people, predominantly Kashmiris, worldwide. The day is marked by public processions, special prayers in mosques for the liberation of Kashmir and protests that are carried out against the Indian oppression of Kashmir.

Kashmir Day is also of particular political importance to major political and religious parties in both Pakistan and AJK. Processions, rallies, conferences and seminars are organized by many political and religious parties where politicians, heads of religious organizations, opinion leaders, and influential public figures address the masses and speak to support the Kashmiri freedom movement. These leaders and spokespeople also advocate a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue. Long marches, and rallies sponsored by political organizations, religious parties and other organizations are held, in which people chant slogans to support the Kashmiri freedom struggle and to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Another common spectacle is the formation of a human chain on all major routes leading to AJK from Pakistan. People stand in rows with their hands clasped forming a human chain on all major crossings into AJK from Pakistan. This symbolizes unity and solidarity to reassure Kashmiris that they are not alone in their struggle for freedom.

Special cultural programs and festivals are also held to promote Kashmiri culture and tradition.  News and entertainment channels air special programs, talk shows, dramas and Kashmiri songs about the oppression and brutalities suffered by Kashmiris over the years. Educational institutions organize debate competitions and dialogue forums where students express their views and ideas for resolving Kashmiri-related issues.

Public Life

Kashmir Day is a public holiday in Pakistan and AJK. Government offices (federal and provincial), banks, educational institutions and businesses remain closed. However, some multinational companies continue normal business activities on this day.

Public transport is available throughout the day, but traffic congestion is common in major cities. Major roads and streets remain blocked because of Kashmir Day parades and processions.

There is a part of Kashmir called Azad Jammu Kashmir (Azad means “Liberated” in Urdu). Many Indians call it Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Officially Pakistan recognizes AJK as a separate state, having its own parliament, head of state and governing institutions.

Kashmir Day was first observed in 1990 on call of Nawaz Sharif, who was the opposition leader and chief minister of Punjab at the time. Sharif appealed for a nationwide strike to protest against the Indian occupation of Kashmir and called for people to pray for the Kashmiri freedom movement’s success. The Pakistan People’s Party then declared February 5 as a public holiday and Kashmir Day has since been observed every year.

The Kashmir valley is metaphorically referred to as “heaven on earth”. The valley is shown in modern art as being engulfed by flames, depicting unrest, uproar and peril in heaven. The valley is also shown to be surrounded by a barbed wire drenched in blood. This illustrates human rights violations in Kashmir.

By observing Kashmir Day, we aim to amplify their voices and garner support for their cause on both national and international levels.

Understanding the Kashmir Conflict: The Kashmir conflict, rooted in decades of political tensions and territorial disputes, has resulted in immense suffering for the people of the region.
