Courage to accept and dedication to improve are the two keys to success

December 14, 2019 by Sandeep

Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really: Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all. You can be discouraged by failure, or you can learn from it, so go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that’s where you will find success. — Thomas J. Watson

Today, we all live in a world where the meaning of “success” changes every day. In olden times, earning a living, having a family, or building a house was all considered success. But today’s youth are looking for all this and more to be termed successful.

They want to find meaningful jobs. They want to win the hardest battles within themselves and step out of their comfort zone. They want to travel the world. In spite of all these changes, the essence of achieving success has not changed.

When one does not understand this essence of success, one fails. Success does not and has never come easy. It requires commitment, passion, hard work, and lots of patience. More than anything else, success demands courage. It calls for a will to improve and try again every time one fails. Thus, the courage to accept failures and dedication to improve can be called as the two facets of any kind of success a person wants to achieve in his life.

The Elements of Courage

What is Courage? Courage is the ability to do something that frightens someone. It is also the strength in the face of pain or failure. Courage is an extremely significant path in the journey of success. Courage is what makes someone choose a difficult path. It is the courage of a sailor that keeps the ship moving in a storm.

One requires the courage to commit to his/her dream and courage is necessary to overcome the different obstacles and work towards his/ her goal. When one fails to achieve the goal, the courage to accept failure and the courage to improve oneself and try again is essential. Let us look deep into what courage is demanded of us on the path to success.

The first significant step where a person has to show courage is when he chooses his goals. It is easy to stay within one’s comfort zone and aim for things within reach, but when one aspires to achieve goals outside his comfort zone and dreams to have things beyond his reach, it takes immense amounts of courage.

The courage shown by Gandhiji to choose to come back to India and join the freedom movement after being pushed off a train in South Africa was a key moment in our freedom struggle. Once a person chooses a goal, he must then have the courage to commit himself to it and work towards it without getting distracted.

Success requires multiple sacrifices. One needs to pass through many obstacles to reach his goal. He must show the courage to not give up irrespective of all these hardships to be able to succeed.

But, the most important show of courage is required when one fails. It is true that failure is a stepping stone to success. The one without the courage to face failure may put the blame on circumstances and give up. But, only someone with the courage to accept his mistakes in the light of failure can succeed.

We all make mistakes. “To err is human,” said Alexander Pope. We need to look within ourselves to understand what exactly went wrong. It is also a good idea to ask the people around us for suggestions. When someone points out a mistake, we must not be afraid to accept our errors.

Patience is another virtue that is necessary when looking for constructive criticisms. Further, instead of feeling guilty about any actions, we must look at how we can improve ourselves. Let us take the example of a famous businessman Steve Jobs. We all know about his success with Apple.

But do we know that Steve Jobs was fired by the same company after the failure of Apple Lisa in 1983? Steve Jobs accepted his mistake of judgment on the product and continued to work hard. He finally found his way back to the company in 1997 and led it during a period of growth and innovation. Thus, his courage to accept his mistake became his biggest strength.

This applies to not only individuals and corporate but also to societies and countries. India has always tried to raise its voice against terrorism in world forums. In the light of these attempts, India tried to put Masood Azhar and his terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed in the UNSC 1267 list which would list him as an international terrorist under the UN.

But this move was repeatedly blocked by China. India accepted its failure and continued to improve its strategy and attempts to find ways to convince the world community. Finally, in April 2019, India succeeded after failing almost 6 times. This incident shows the importance of accepting defeat and trying to improve in the journey towards success.

The Dedication to Improve

As much as the courage to accept is necessary, it is useless without the urge to improve and try again. When one fails by going through a certain method, he should be willing to focus on the flaws of that method and find ways to correct them.

The dedication to improve is an extremely significant step in the path to success. Let us look at civil servant exams aspirants. Most do not clear it in the first attempt. But, to succeed they must have the courage to try again. They must analyze their mistakes and work hard to not repeat them. Only then is success possible.

When the recent abrogation of Article 370 happened, there were mixed reactions. While some criticized the government’s methods, others applauded the courage. But if we look at the intention of the government, we see one major objective – to improve the conditions of Kashmiris.

The government accepted that Article 370 was being misused and that we must abrogate the same in the path to fight terrorism. Thus, it began preparations to ensure smooth removal of Article 370. The dedication of the government to improve the circumstances at the border forced them to take steps that were beneficial. Here we see that without the dedication to improve, one cannot reach one’s goals.

The dedication to improve is a process. It begins with taking steps to identify the issues. Let us take the example of Raja Ram Mohan Roy who struggled to bring in social reforms in society. He began by identifying the social norms and practices which were unfair, discriminatory and inhumane.

As flaws are recognized, one must also analyze as to what can be done differently. After realizing the effects of the sati system, Raja Ram Mohan Roy decided to take it upon himself to put an end to the system and legalize widow remarriage.

Then, one must work towards implementing these changes in order to achieve success. Raja Ram Mohan Roy approached the then British government and had discussions and debates to prove his point. Finally, with persistent efforts, one can achieve success. The Bengal Sati Regulation came into existence in 1829 and soon, the Hindu Widow Remarriage Act was passed in 1856.

From individual successes to achieving societal and national goals, the willingness to improve has been an essential element. Another important aspect of having the courage to accept and dedication to improve is optimism. Optimism is the ability to look at everything in a positive light.

As it is often said, “Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it.” Thus, optimism makes it possible to think rationally and take effective decisions in the event of a failure. We have seen how the optimism of the LGBTQ+ community led them towards constantly working to decriminalizing Article 377.

Even though the journey had ups and downs, with their courage to accept and dedication to improve their arguments and mobilize support, they finally succeeded. Even now, the community works towards improving LGBTQ+ rights in the country.

Various examples above have proven the importance of courage and dedication to improving the path to success. Similarly, in cases where such courage was not displayed and there was no dedication to improve, success has been few and far off. Let us look at the economic situation of the country.

Both demonetization and GST was implemented with good intention like removing black money or “One Nation One Tax”. But there were some flaws like rate structure. It is not bad to have problems in plans as problems can be resolved and an effective result can be obtained. But, the effective result is possible only when the government accepts these problems.

Instead, reports regarding economic slowdown were not published. No fundamental measures were taken to correct the shortcomings of GST and more importantly, its provisions were not made clear to the general public. Thus, we saw the result in a low GDP growth rate in the coming quarters.

Thus, we see how success is unattainable without the courage to accept and dedication to improve. No plan, process or program can be flawless. The difference between a successful plan and a failed one is how these flaws are handled. As famous playwright George Bernard Shaw said

Essay About Courage: Top 5 Examples and 6 Prompts

Courage covers a range of topics and meanings. Here are examples and prompts to help you write your essay about courage.

Many believe bravery and courage mean the same thing and even use them interchangeably. However, though both describe heroic acts, they are not the same. Where bravery is the lack of fear, courage is taking action despite it.

Some argue that courage takes more strength because it means sharing your story even though you may be ridiculed, rejected, and misunderstood. It takes courage to admit when you’re hurt or feel lost, vulnerable, and need help.

If you’re having problems channeling and describing what courage is, here are examples that will assist you in connecting with this subject:

1. My Opinion About Courage by Gary Collins

2. moral courage by fernando wood, 3. courage by benjamin patrick, 4. the importance of courage by saloni, 5. essay on courage by manasi shewale, 1. what does courage mean to you, 2. your most courageous act, 3. a courageous hero, 4. things you are most afraid of, 5. what creates doubt, 6. a time when you failed to show courage and regretted it.

“And even then, she had no grudge against the world. She doesn’t think the world owes her. She never takes money or even grains that she hasn’t earned.”

In this essay, Collins shares his experience with courage through someone named Sunita. Sunita told Collins about her life and what made her who she is. Such as at a very young age, she fought to support herself because no one would have done that for her, and many other tales.

Her stories made Collins realize how lucky he is and how he should be grateful for the many opportunities that come his way without the need to suffer as she did. He also includes that Sunita lives on to inspire others with her courage.

“Moral courage is standing up for values such as honesty, fairness, compassion, respect, and responsibility but just having these values are not enough we have to try to put them into practice, and we have to commit to moral principles as well…”

Moral courage is doing what’s right and following what your conscience dictates. Wood has three significant elements of moral courage: principle, endurance, and danger.

He explains moral courage through Geoge Norris, Nelson Mandela, and Malala Youssafzai. These people took risks even if their lives were in danger to follow their conscience and do the right things. Wood instills that moral courage is essential in making a critical move, especially when choosing the greater good.

“Courage is the only thing that gets us through the hard times, and the tempting opportunities. Courage is vital to the evolution of the human population. It is also an essential quality to becoming a successful person.”

Patrick discusses how courage helps a person succeed in life. He mentions that we all have courage, but some use it differently than others.

He gives an example of a girl who plays hockey, where the other members are all boys. They looked down on her because of her gender. But instead of giving up, she took it as a challenge and courageously showed them she could play at their level. She became friends with most of the team, but there was one boy who kept on bullying her. The boy misused his courage, but the girl used her courage to fight him off.

“Courage is mental and moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. It is the firmness of mind and will in the face of danger or extreme difficulty.”

Saloni’s essay shows two kinds of courage: physical and moral. People who depend on physical strength show physical courage. They can protect and help others. If a person is weak, they are not physically courageous.

On the other hand, one’s honesty connects to their moral courage. They are the ones with convictions and don’t support evil works. Even if you are a weak person, you can still be morally courageous. Unfortunately, this courage is rare nowadays because people are afraid of being attacked mentally and emotionally. To be morally courageous means to be a fighter to go against wrong-doings.

“It is very difficult to keep up your morals and therefore, gather up the necessary courage to fight against the wrong situations. Therefore, in today’s date, it is even rarer to find a person with the proper morals required to live a satisfactory life.”

Shewale shares little acts of courage in our everyday lives – such as a girl who loves to dance but is afraid of the stage or a person who’s readying themselves for a job interview. Courage is not only shown in grand scenes but in small acts that help us survive our daily lives.

The author further discusses events where courage helps in more controversial fields, such as injustices to farmers and students’ bullying.

6 Prompts on Essay About Courage

After reading relevant examples in essays about courage, it’s now your turn to try your hand at creating one. Below are prompts that can guide you in your essay writing:

There is no one definition of courage. It differs from each individual, and its meaning is affected by our experiences and knowledge. In this prompt, share the word “courage” and discuss what courage means to you. When do you feel courageous, and why? Then, describe personal experiences of being courageous or stories of courageous people who inspire you.

Think about a time when you were courageous. Create an essay based on this event and describe in detail what happened. Convey your thoughts and feelings, and show why you were courageous.

Essay About Courage: A Courageous Hero

Write an essay about a hero in your life. This could be a celebrity you admire, a relative or friend, or a teacher in school. Describe why this person is courageous, why you look up to them, and how they inspire you. Make sure to include fine details of their personality and how they act. This will make for an exciting and compelling essay.

The first step to being courageous is acknowledging you are afraid. Then, to get your fears out of the way, you need to identify what and why they exist. This prompt lets you connect with your readers who have the same worries.

For example, you can share that you’re afraid of rejection, being alone, etc. Then, discuss why and what you plan to do to overcome them. You can also write about how you plan to be courageous while still afraid.

Our greatest challenge to succeeding in something is doubting ourselves. When we doubt ourselves, we start to think of all the things that can go wrong. So we show our courage by being afraid of these negative consequences but still trying and hoping for a good result.

Share an experience when you still tried, even when you’re unsure. It doesn’t need to have the best ending. You only have to prove that it’s better to try and fail than fail without trying at all.

There will always be times when we desperately want to be more courageous but fail to do so due to various factors. Write about that experience, share your feelings, and what you’ll do if you have the chance to repeat that situation.

Courage and Determination: The Keys to Success and Fulfillment

essay on courage is the key to success

May 18, 2023

Anthony Bronaugh

Courage and determination are two essential qualities that have the power to transform lives and lead to extraordinary achievements. From facing personal challenges to pursuing dreams and goals , these attributes play a crucial role in overcoming obstacles and reaching new heights. In this article, we will delve into the depths of courage and determination, exploring their significance and the ways in which they impact various aspects of life.

Introduction

Courage and determination are often regarded as the driving forces behind personal growth and success. Courage can be defined as the ability to confront fear, adversity, or uncertainty, and take action despite potential risks. Determination, on the other hand, refers to the firmness of purpose and resolve to persistently pursue one’s goals, even in the face of obstacles or setbacks.

Understanding Courage

Courage comes in many forms and is not limited to acts of physical bravery. It can manifest as moral courage, where individuals stand up for what they believe in, even when it goes against popular opinion. Emotional courage involves facing and overcoming one’s inner fears and insecurities. Whether it’s speaking up for justice, standing tall during difficult times, or facing personal fears head-on, courageous individuals inspire and motivate others through their actions.

The Power of Determination

Determination is the unwavering commitment to achieving a desired outcome. It is the fuel that keeps individuals going, even when faced with difficulties. Determined individuals possess traits such as resilience, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. They have a clear vision of their goals and are willing to put in the effort and make sacrifices to turn their dreams into reality.

Real-life stories are a testament to the incredible power of determination. Consider the story of Thomas Edison, who failed numerous times before successfully inventing the practical electric light bulb. His unwavering determination and refusal to give up in the face of adversity led to one of the most significant inventions in history.

Overcoming Challenges

Life is full of challenges, both big and small. It is during these trying times that courage and determination truly shine. They provide the strength and resilience needed to face adversity and overcome obstacles . Countless individuals have demonstrated remarkable courage and determination in the face of adversity, inspiring others to believe in themselves and persevere.

For instance, Malala Yousafzai, a young Pakistani activist, displayed tremendous courage in advocating for girls’ education, despite facing death threats from the Taliban. Her determination to fight for her rights and those of millions of girls worldwide earned her the Nobel Peace Prize.

Developing Courage and Determination

While some individuals may naturally possess courage and determination, these qualities can also be developed and strengthened over time. Building courage and determination begins with adopting a growth mindset, which involves embracing challenges, seeing failures as learning opportunities, and persisting in the face of setbacks. Seeking support from mentors, family, or friends can also provide the encouragement and motivation needed to cultivate these attributes.

Professional Life

Courage and determination are crucial in professional settings. From launching a startup to making bold decisions, professionals who exhibit courage and determination are more likely to achieve success. Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple Inc., demonstrated remarkable courage and determination throughout his career, taking risks, and revolutionizing the technology industry.

Personal Relationships

Healthy relationships require courage and determination to navigate through difficult times. Whether it’s resolving conflicts, expressing vulnerability, or showing empathy, courage is essential. Determined individuals prioritize open communication, seek common ground, and work towards mutual growth, fostering stronger and more fulfilling relationships.

Pursuing Dreams

Pursuing dreams often involves stepping out of one’s comfort zone and taking risks. Courage and determination play a pivotal role in turning dreams into reality. Individuals who possess these qualities are more likely to overcome fear, embrace uncertainty, and persevere in the face of challenges. The stories of entrepreneurs, artists, and athletes who have pursued their dreams with unwavering courage and determination are a testament to the transformative power of these qualities.

In conclusion, courage and determination are the pillars that support personal growth , success, and fulfillment. They empower individuals to face challenges head-on, pursue their dreams, and overcome obstacles along the way. By cultivating courage, we can unlock our true potential and inspire others to do the same. So, let us embrace these qualities, step out of our comfort zones, and embark on a journey of courage and determination to create a life filled with purpose and accomplishment.

Finding Success Starts with Finding Your Purpose

  • John Coleman

essay on courage is the key to success

It’s never too early — or too late — to ask the big questions.

Many people work their whole lives to achieve material success only to find their happiness and sense of purpose wanting when that success comes. They often spend their later years looking for purpose in their lives in order to feel a sense of meaning. Searching for meaning late in your life is a missed opportunity. Success without significance — purpose, service, and meaningful relationships — is not really success at all. It’s important to properly reflect on how you can live a life imbued intensely not just with the superficial trappings of “success” but with deep purpose and joy in all we do — starting now. Ask yourself:  What is the core purpose of my work and the ways in which it makes the world better? Who are the key relationships in my life, and how can I deepen them? What more can I do at work, at home, and in my community to serve others? How am I becoming better each day?

In 1995, Bob Buford wrote the bestselling book Halftime , which popularized the concept of “moving from success to significance” in the second half of life. Buford realized that many businesspeople work their whole lives to achieve material success only to find their happiness and sense of purpose wanting when that success comes. And he rightly encouraged those people to seek out meaning and impact in their later years.

Courage Helps Lead to Success

"Wherever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision.'" - Peter Drucker

Courage is defined as the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc, without fear . Although the word courage is easily defined, it is much more difficult to measure. Each individual faces a different set of fears, therefore what may be considered courageous for one, may not carry the same value for another. Take jumping out of a plane for example - one may be considered courageous for facing a fear of heights, or danger, but if that fear does not exist in another, well then it's just plain fun for them! Whatever the interpretation may be, the quote above still holds true that the success of a business, or the success of an individual, is likely due to someone at least once making a courageous decision.

There's very few examples of successful businesses that happened from only luck or opportunity. Even if an opportunity were to land in one's lap, it still takes courageous decisions and dedication to make it successful. When I first started my business, courage came in the form of entering an industry I knew nothing about; it came in the form of interacting with other business people that were much more experienced than me; and it came in the form of dedicating a lot of time to something that did not guarantee some sort of return. More than 13 years later and courage now comes in the form of making decisions that are ultimately responsible for the incomes of many families and for occasionally taking time away from my own family in the hopes of creating a better future. Without the courage to be successful, there's much more chance for a business to fail as the world continues to move on with or without us.

As in business, courage can lead to much success personally as well. I recently attended a memorial service for a gentleman that undoubtedly had a lot of courage. You could tell by the number of people in the room mourning his passing and celebrating his life that this was a successful man that shared his success with others. Did I mention that this was a full room of people in a city to which he moved to retire? The impact he made on people here in his retirement years sheds such light on the impact he made back at home during his many years of success in his practice, and in his family. There's no doubt that his courage serving in the military during war, his courage in establishing his practice and his courage in guiding his family was a key component to the success he achieved in all areas of his life.

Courage is easy to define and difficult to measure, but it is a key ingredient in the recipe for success.

Essay on Success

The concept of success is very simple; if you invest your time wisely and work hard, you will achieve success in no time. But success is not as simple as it sounds; what might sound like success to one might not be the same for another person. It embodies the realization of one’s goals, aspirations, and desires, often accompanied by a sense of accomplishment and fulfilment.

Success is manifested in different aspects, such as career achievements, personal growth, or even the pursuit of happiness. It is a journey filled with determination, perseverance, and often a willingness to learn from both triumphs and setbacks. Ultimately, success is a subjective pursuit that reflects the unique path and definition of achievement for each person.

What makes a person successful, essay on success in 100 words, essay on success in 150 words, essay on success in 200 words.

Being successful is very subjective and can vary from person to person. Therefore, here are some common factors which contribute to the success of a person.

  • Hard Work and Persistence: Success requires effort and dedication and one has the ability to face challenges.
  • Setting Clear Goals: It is very important for one to have specific and attainable goals which will provide direction and motivation.
  • Networking: The person should have the capability to build relations and at the same time be open to opportunities which strike.
  • Time Management: Managing time effectively and priorities is essential for productivity and progress.
  • Self-Discipline: One should be very focused and maintain self-control which will help them achieve long-term goals.
  • Management of Finances: Having a basic understanding of finances and managing them wisely is also very important for attaining financial success.

Success is the culmination of dedication, hard work, and determination. It is not merely the achievement of material wealth, but the fulfilment of one’s goals and aspirations. Success varies from person to person; for some, it’s a thriving career, while for others, it could be having a harmonious family life.

To attain success, individuals must set clear objectives, persevere through challenges, and learn from failures. Success often involves learning, adapting, and embracing change. It’s the result of resilience and the willingness to keep pushing forward. Ultimately, success is a personal journey, and its definition is unique to each individual.

Everybody wants to be successful in life, but are they willing to put in all their efforts? Success is not solely measured by wealth or fame but by achieving one’s goals and finding fulfilment. True success is often the result of determination, hard work, and resilience. Setting clear, achievable objectives and being persistent through challenges are crucial components.

Education is a common path to success, providing knowledge and skills that open doors to opportunities. Embracing failure as a stepping stone, learning from mistakes, and adapting to change are essential to achieving success. However, it’s important to recognize that success is subjective and can encompass a broader spectrum of achievements beyond material possessions.

Personal growth, happiness, and a sense of purpose are all part of success. Balancing personal and professional life is key to sustaining it. Ultimately, success is a journey, not a destination, and it’s about realizing your full potential and making a meaningful contribution to the world.

Success is a multifaceted concept, often defined by achieving one’s goals and aspirations. It is a subjective and deeply personal notion, as what constitutes success varies from person to person. However, a common thread in success is the continuous pursuit of one’s ambitions, combined with determination and hard work.

Success is not solely measured by material wealth, but rather by the fulfilment and satisfaction that comes from reaching one’s objectives. It is the result of setting clear goals, developing a plan, and facing all the challenges. The road to success is rarely smooth; it is often marked by setbacks and failures. These obstacles are crucial for personal growth, teaching valuable lessons that contribute to success in the long run.

Moreover, success is not an endpoint; it is a continuous journey. It requires adaptability and the willingness to learn and evolve. Success can be found in various aspects of life, from career achievements to personal relationships and self-fulfilment. It is the balance and harmony between these different facets that lead to a truly successful and meaningful life.

In conclusion, success is a complex and individualized concept, rooted in determination, hard work, resilience, and personal growth. It is not defined solely by external markers but by the fulfilment and happiness, one derives from their accomplishments and the journey to achieve them.

Mental Toughness: The Key to Athletic Success

Ironman finisher (c/o Norton Healthcare)

Mental toughness (MT) has been positively influential to success in athletes and also has promoted adaptive mental health functioning, well-being, and incidents of lower stress levels, depression, and an increase in the quality of sleep (Cowden et al., 2019). When evaluating athletes, most non-elite players only mentally train themselves when they’re in a negative state of mind, however, implementing mental training into day-to-day life can be beneficial. Cowden et al. (2019) focused on the key characteristics of MT as self-determined motivation in addition to a sense of perfectionism. The review implies that athletes who have higher personal standards of perfectionism, sustain more autonomous forms of motivation due to the efforts they face to develop mental toughness.  The self determination theory concerns human motivation and a personality that relates to ones inherent growth tendencies as well as the psychological needs, without the concern of external influences. The theory has been applied to the study of perfectionism and shows that motivation is represented by the continuum of motivational subtypes (Cowden et al., 2019). These subtypes reflect the extent to which internalization occurs of basic psychological needs. The article presents that MT is composed of many internal conflicts that can be developed through naturally occurring interactions with the environment and targeted interventions.

When focusing on the motivational antecedents and associations with performance and psychological health, Mahoney et al. (2014) concluded that autonomy supportive environments had a positive association with psychological needs satisfaction. In other words, autonomous supportive evidence allowed for a more successful environment for athletes to develop a greater sense of mental toughness. In the review, the primary focus revolves around the idea that mental toughness is a multidimensional concept. The capacity of mental toughness consists of several personal characteristics such as self-confidence, optimistic thinking and buoyancy (Mahoney et al., 2014). A positive association between mental toughness and psychological needs satisfaction was shown in the review based on race times of track athletes.

A second review by Mahoney et al. (2014) focuses on the perspectives of adolescents pertaining to mental toughness and its development. The research that was conducted allowed the young students to fill out personal forces and resources that create success in sport. Researchers found nine emerging characteristics from the data including forces such as persistence, drive, high self-expectations and resources such as self-belief and optimistic thinking (Mahoney et al., 2014). The review emphasizes the importance of an individuals’ immediate and surrounding environments due the insight that they contribute to mental toughness. Since the review focuses on adolescents, the authors also included that the time of a critical incident in sport was important to the development of MT. Positive and negative events both contribute to the level of mental toughness one has, but other personal factors including a curious disposition determine how much the failures and setbacks contribute to an athlete’s development. In youth sports it is essential that coaches provide a proper environment for their athletes to grow physically and psychologically.

For coaches, it can be difficult when teaching the concept of mental toughness to players, however, Weinberg et al. (2016) provides a good foundation of how coaches can implement the development of mental toughness. The first subsection that the author points out for a coach, is being mindful of how they think about their athletes; being critical but encouraging and educating themselves and their staff. Another section involves being mindful in what to do, which can be done through creating adversity, fostering autonomy, and seeing athletes as individuals. Adversity can allow athletes to make mistakes in practice and learn from those mistakes for games (Weinberg et al., 2016). Ultimately, the review suggests that coaches attempt to build simple mental skills such as coping strategies, imagery, and relaxation.

After thorough review of the peer-review articles, I think that coaches should be implementing mental training programs into their regular schedules. By developing good habits for their athletes, coaches can set end goals and keep athletes motivated through commitment. Coaches should also implement autonomous environments where their athletes can be stay motivated. Mental toughness can be developed throughout all ages and should be consistently practiced. The importance of mental training can be the difference in an elite-athlete versus a non-elite athlete. By implementing mental training programs in youth sports, athletes will be prepared to persist in the face of adversity.

In modern-day, people are obsessed with success because of the glamour and lifestyle of successful people .

Success Essay

What formulates a person successful?

There are many ways in the world to be successful. But most people think of celebrities, artist, politicians, and businessmen whenever they heard the word success.

Moreover, they think doing what they will make you successful but that not the case. They forget the most basic thing that makes a person successful that is their hard work, dedication, and the desire to achieve their dream. More importantly, they what they like to do not what that others told them to do. Successful people do what they like to do also they do what they feel correct for their business.

If you look in the dictionary for the meaning of the word success then you will find that it means the achievement of one’s goal or aim . So, basically, anyone can achieve success by simply achieving their aim or goal.

What is the harm of success?

We all knew that we can’t achieve something without sacrificing something. Success also demands various things from you. But these sacrifices will not go in vain if you achieve your goal.

Certainly, many people achieve professional success but in doing so they fail in achieving mental, social and physical success. The tension of lacking behind in other things pulls them apart.

Also, there are cases where people became so obsessed with success that the people around them start to feel uncomfortable around them. In some cases, they have gone mad. Apart from that, people also get depressed if they can’t achieve success like others. So, we can say that there is much harm to success.

Success and hard work

It may sound unfit to some peoples but success depends a lot of hard work. Without it, you can’t become successful. Hard work does not mean that you do laborious work or the work that make you sweat. Hard work means having a healthy body, strong mind, willpower and positive attitude towards things. And for all those things you need energy. So, be attentive to your body and soul.

Besides, do not just work on your program, push your limit, take charge of other things, improve your skills and most importantly keep learning. Apart from that, be with positive peoples, develop positive habits, and do exercise not only for the body but also for your mind.

To sum it up, we can say that success is like a seed that needs a balanced proportion of all the elements of life. And no one can achieve success in a day they have to go through and face different conditions in life for being successful. Above all, success is the feeling of fulfillment that you feel when you achieve your goal.

The Key to Success: Essay Sample on Self-Belief and Courage

The Key to Success: Essay Sample on Self-Belief and Courage

Introduction.

"It is easy to stand with the crowd but takes courage to stand alone". Believing that you can do great without an external influence is the spirit of some successful businessmen. Knowing oneself is the beginning of wisdom, and when this knowledge is combined with self-belief and courage, the results are overwhelming. Many people believe that to be a successful business owner, and one must be socially stimulated in other words, be an extrovert. This is contrary to reality since the best performing entrepreneurs turn to be those that work alone, i.e. introverts (Bernstein, 2015). Below are the reasons as to why introverts prove to be the best entrepreneurs;

Is your time best spent reading someone else’s essay? Get a 100% original essay FROM A CERTIFIED WRITER!

Firstly, introverts talk less and listen more. A good leader should be a person who looks more and is never quick at communicating. This virtue, especially from a leader of an organization, enhances a pleasant working environment among the employees. Employees feel valued when a leader allows them to present their grievances. The trait may not be familiar with extroverts since the more they do is talk and are less receptive, i.e. give less attention to what the other person has to say. Bruna, the founder of Clarion Enterprises, limited echoed, where he noted that extrovert leaders with extroverts employees are a liability since they are less receptive to situations (Bernstein, 2015). This, therefore, makes introverts to be the best choice of a leader.

Secondly, introverts leaders are very humble. As much as leaders are expected to take pride in whatever they do, humility should accompany them too. However, many extroverts leaders are found to have this trait also but are in no comparison with the introverts' ones since they never set a priority of others first.no one hates a humble leader, and for that matter one gains respect from all employees regardless of their position. Moreover, an ordinary person is at a better place of learning his/her weaknesses and strengths since they pay attention to what other people say about them. An entrepreneur by the name Jeff once said, "Humility entails the ability to acknowledge mistakes, imperfections, knowledge gaps and limitations - all key ingredients for getting ahead in business and life." Thus, an introvert leader is at a higher chance of achieving goals as compared to an extrovert (Casson, 2005).

Thirdly, introverts are very comfortable in working alone. From the initial definition, extroverts gain their motivation from people while introverts are self- motivated. A good leader, however, requires time apart to be able to innovate new ideas. This is a bonus to the introverts since they are already used to living in their minds. With this character, they can brainstorm new ideas, and this makes them good innovators as compared to extroverts who can never function alone (Casson, 2005). Co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak, said that, " .....Most investors live in their heads and work best alone". A piece of tough advice indeed for the extroverts.

Besides, introverts are the most creative among all most of the high ranked writers, investors and even artists possess introverts personalities. However, many extroverts showcase creativity, too, but you can never compare natural creativity with the acquired one. Introverts are advantageous in the sense that they can come up with new ideas and solutions which might take time for the extroverts since they have to acquire it from other people.

Moreover, introverts, unlike extroverts, exude calmness and wisdom. For instance, we have all witnessed a case where a group of women and men are involved in an argument, but one among them doesn't take part in the talk but quietly listens to their conversation. It comes a time when he speaks out, and the entire group falls quiet and echoes everything he says. True or false? Calmness is mostly associated with wisdom. Introverts, contrary to extroverts, are associated with calmness even if it may not necessarily mean they are wiser than the extroverts (the Chu, 2000). The calm character of the introvert earns them respect in return, which is a bonus for them.

Lastly, introverts are the kind of people who don't seek glorification, but instead, they aim at creating and bettering their skills. They like specializing in one field where there happen their skills until make it happen at any cost.

Conclusively, introverts make the best entrepreneurs as compared to the extroverts since they are good listeners, humble, work entirely alone, are highly creative and possess calmness that is associated with wisdom. There is hope therefore for all introvert persons who aspire to be a leader somewhere, and in case of selecting a leader, there is need to consider the above advantages of an introvert leader (the Chu, 2000). In any organization or field in general, a good and great leader is vital for the growth of it thus selecting a competent leader who can take the organization to the next level is essential and thanks to the great attributes of an introvert which shows a great leader who can bring significant value.

Essay Contest for UPSC Exam for IAS

Note: We have presented this essay in a bullet format for easy assimilation of points made

  • Albert Einstein says,” Mistakes are the proofs that we are learning”.
  • The person who accepts and corrects that mistakes become masters in the domain.
  • Only when the mistakes are agreed upon our side, it would eventually pave way for learning and sustainably we can improvise in the stepping stones of success.
  • Many of us will be stubborn in doing things and not let anybody else’s ideas to upgrade the present level of position in the ladder.
  • Even though this is a competitive world, everyone has a different destination and the path everyone takes up will also be different.
  • Education doesn’t stop with graduation or a doctoral degree. Education by the other way is unlimited learning and that comes from who is capable of accepting his own actions.
  • That is a courageous outcome of an individual to seek success. A responsible person must learn to unlearn what he has learnt.
  • Sometimes we need to go down a few grades to learn something new. And to go down, we need courage to accept to go down the grades.
  • None of us in this world has been created to be idle. We must perform things happen in front of the world’s eyes to have a worth for our living.
  • Hence, we should think of success without no other option. It is the rent we pay to live on this earth.
  • Once we get the agreeableness on mistakes or the things we do on our behalf, we will have an optimistic view of correcting things.
  • It will not only end up in correcting the things alone, it will subsequently lead to improvise the skills or the information that we are lacking.
  • It is not that the information is absent with us; it is that we are lagging behind it but when once that push or pull happens, it will create a drive to manage all sort of obstacles in accepting the things of reality.
  • That created drive is called the courageous act. One that courageous act gets pregnant, the decision for improvising will be delivered.

There are some steps to get succeed by following the principle ‘Courage to accept and decision to improve’:

  • We need to look within and around to foresee our mistakes or the kind of acts that we are performing.
  • We should not react so hard once our acts are termed wrong by others.
  • We need to be patient enough to look for our acts when there exists criticism.
  • We need to have a self-analysis pointing out the acts and its effects.
  • Once we realize that some acts are wrong, we must accept them and we need to make sure that we cannot hold ourselves to search for the reasons to make the wrong acts to be correct.
  • We should pacify our guiltiness of doing those acts and look for rectifying those mistakes.
  • Agreeableness to the acts make us courageous enough to seek upon various options to make correct decisions.
  • Once we implement the correct decision, it will lead to further improvement.
  • As improvement happens, the fruits of success can be tasted.

There are yet other things that rely on unlocking the success with the keys of courage to accept and decision to improve. Optimism – the way to look upon everything in a positive way. The decision must be practical and reliable enough that ensures the perfect probability of happening with extreme correctness. Self-consciousness – must in doing things to maintain the ease of upgrading; and many more. Procrastination is also a big threat to success. Keeping these things in mind, we can pursue success.

Essay on Courage to accept and dedication to improving are two keys to success

Essay – courage to accept and dedication to improving are two keys to success.

Courage to accept and dedication to improving are two keys to success Essay: Courage can be defined as the strength of character and the ability to take calculated risks to make modifications and improvements in one’s career in particular or life in general. Dedication refers to the ability of an individual to focus or concentrate on a given task with complete sincerity instead of getting distracted. Courage to accept the situation, analyzing the flaws within oneself necessitating learning and improving on new skills and dedicating one’s time and energy to a given task are two key elements of success.

Courage to accept and dedication to improving are two keys to success essay

India had been a culturally and economically enriched country before the advent of the East India Company and their subsequent colonial rule. India was the birthplace of various  religious philosophies and schools of thought with scriptures such as the Vedas, Upanishads and the two great epics ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahabharata.’ India also possessed great Universities such as the Nalanda University in Taxila. The Indian economy accounted for about 24% of the world’s total GDP despite the nation’s economy vastly depending on its agricultural economy. By the time of its independence, the GDP dropped to a bleak 2%.

India had taken massive strides to strengthen and stabilize its economy after independence on 15 August 1947. The nation’s economy was completely dependent upon the agricultural industry and needed to acknowledge that a change in economic policies would be the best way forward in developing the economy. It showed resoluteness in shifting from an agricultural industry to a partially agricultural economy and partly industrial-based economy. The Green revolution of the 1960s stabilized the Indian Economy by High Yielding a Variety of seeds (HYV seeds) that made use of better quality seeds and chemical fertilizers to increase the production of crops in India. The white revolution brought about by Verghese Kurien in 1970 revolutionized the entire economy by developing a dairy development programme through its landmark corporation Amul. India also took massive strides by opening its economic market and came out of economic isolation from the world to develop its economy further. Multinational economies such as Sony, Samsung and Kellogg’s incentivised the retail market thereby making the Indian Economy profitable. India also became a nuclear superpower on May 18 1974 by defying the Non-Proliferation Treaty by the five existing nuclear states +, the USA, the UK, Russia, France and China. Thus India as a nation had internalized the two key aspects necessary to succeed by showing acceptance of its flaws and being dedicated towards its aim of regaining its prominent status on the World Stage.

To conclude, India took massive strides in bringing about a paradigm shift from being a developing nation with a bleak economy to the fifth largest economy in the world overtaking its erstwhile colonizers, the United Kingdom. India also became the sixth nuclear state despite Non-Proliferation Treaty preventing it from becoming a nuclear state, Thus India overcame all its challenges to become a nation to reckon with today.

Q1. When did India become a nuclear state?

Ans: India also became a nuclear superpower on May 18 1974 by defying the Non-Proliferation Treaty by the five existing nuclear states, the USA, the UK, Russia, France and China.

Q2. What was the Green Revolution In India?

Ans: The Green revolution of the 1960s stabilized the Indian Economy by High Yielding a Variety of seeds (HYV seeds) that made use of better quality seeds and chemical fertilizers to increase the production of crops in India.
