" In an ever-changing world, where the economy is so unpredictable; it's no surprise to see websites, forums and Discord Serves, and the Internet screw over their own userbases or go downhill with poor ideas. The Rotten Websites Wiki was one of the Qualitipedia wikis hosted on Miraheze - it mainly hosted pages about websites that had gained a negative status. As of 2022, it was closed along with other wikis hosted by Qualitipedia due to lack of edits. [1]

Reception wiki

A reception wiki is a wiki that uses numbered pointers to explain why a particular subject is bad, good, "average", or "decent" via a series of opinions presented as facts; this may involve criticism or praise from various reviews from critics (journalists and some YouTubers ) and audiences (most YouTubers and other social media personalities, along with users of review aggregation websites such as Rotten Tomatoes , Metacritic , etc.).

Main article: Qualitipedia#History

The first reception wiki was Crappy Games Wiki , created on July 22, 2013 on Fandom (at the time known as Wikia). [1] Several other wikis were founded as time passed, such as Awful Movies Wiki (2015), [2] Awesome Games Wiki (2015), [3] Greatest Movies Wiki (2016), [4] , etc.

Starting in September 2018, the reception wikis were closed by Fandom staff and migrated to Miraheze .

The reception wikis have been criticised for several reasons. On March 14, 2020, YouTuber ThePackagedReviewer uploaded a rant on the wikis titled "Worst of the Wikis: Miraheze Reception Wikis." [5]

The video has inspired the creation of many other rants, such as on social media platform Reddit [6] [7] and online art community DeviantArt . [8] [9] [10]

If you're reading this, I want to owe you an apology.

Hi everyone. I was the person behind the alias Zenko, but I have learned to use a VPN (thanks to Anon) so that my defamers will never find my real IP or any other information, keeping myself anonymous and unknown like I should've done. I do not browse the Miraheze wikis and this wiki as much as I used to and I do not plan on getting a new account because of what I've experienced in the past. Maybe it's for the best. I have to admit something, and if you take time to read this, then I'm grateful.

I was notorious for causing trouble on both here and the Miraheze Reception Wikis in the past, and some people seem to still be very upset with me about it since they won't stop slandering me and bragging about how much they hate me and what I did. I want to say that I regret it deeply. It wasn't my fault that I gotten into drama. That other user would not leave me alone and I had no choice but keep fighting in an attempt to try stopping the drama. Then things got worse, to the point that they started an atrocious non-Miraheze satire wiki, made a page on me, and worst of all, doxxed me, which I didn't want. At least they still don't know my real name and home address, thankfully. Hope it stays that way. I'm not a drama queen, I never even wanted to get into drama, I'm not corrupt and I would never manipulate anyone. I have a good heart. I just think a bit differently from my defamers. Because of these experiences, I no longer engage with the users who hate me, and instead, I avoid them, hoping that they'll delete everything they said about me, delete the dox of me most of all. And I really want to apologize for everything I did. I was ashamed to start wars with the other users. I also apologize for having multiple accounts, I only did so to stay safe so that no one will witch hunt me. I know that is no excuse, but like I've said, I feel extremely awful about what I did now.

It is unknown which sites I've been browsing now, but whatever it is, my defamers will never find out since it is a secret, so that they will never add external links on their hate pages they made of me.

Do not try to bring up some old drama. I just want to let out my chest and want people to know how sorry I am. Even though I still have my likes and dislikes, I'm starting to get mental help and I have become a much more mature and wise person today than I used to be.

I'm retiring from editing on wikis and have moved on to doing much better things. Good bye to all. May we meet again one day.

Yours truly, the now-anonymous Kitsune

Ideas for a forbidden pages list

Hey everyone. So I just noticed a "TBA" on the forbidden pages section and is it okay if I suggest some ideas for them? If so, then here are my suggestions:

  • TheTopTens - Has sparked controversy back when the wiki was on Miraheze and most of the site's worst have been inactive since 2019.
  • Scratch - Could possibly cause a ban wave given how the last time someone called out Scratch offline underwent a ban. Also, a good majority of users are under 13, so it could possibly be a violation of COPPA.

Any more suggestions? reply below. -- BrownieTheAlien ( talk ) 01:52, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Should Harman Smith have a page here?

For those who don't know, Harman Smith is a YouTuber who is a MASSIVE fanboy of Nintendo and will not only defend nearly every decision they make, despite how anti-consumer they are, but he, for the most part, will bash 3rd-party games that aren't on a Nintendo platform, and will ridicule the developers who made said games. Plus, he's also extremely racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic, and transphobic, especially in his Community posts, and he also has an unhealthy obsession with some guy named Nick Rekeita or whoever that person is. Here's a link to this YouTube account, and I think his content speaks for itself: https://youtube.com/@blackcatbooks64?si=D4s-e9_QiUw0J5mo

Also, since this is a real-life person we're talking about, I'll do my best to add as many sources about his flaws as I can in a hypothetical page about him. Let me know what you think about this. SuperStreetKombat ( talk ) 5:23 PM, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

Well? Does anybody agree to this? SuperStreetKombat ( talk ) 11:57 PM, 12 November 2023 (UTC)

Regarding quality control and right-wing bias on this wiki

Mods and admins, as much as I try to avoid being in reception wikis as much as possible, I think I highly suggest you should really do something with quality control on this wiki. This place's pages have barely changed after its closing from Miraheze (considering that most pages here were imported from the now-closed Miraheze wiki) and I have noticed that there are barely any right-wing based websites on this wiki, and I have noticed that several arguments against extreme-leftist media websites contain links to controversial extreme-right news websites such as Breitbart, which hosts COVID-19 misinformation there, as well as using not-so-constructive terms such as "femi-nazis" and "SJWs".

I have found some notable examples of websites you should really put on this site, such as Breitbart (as per stated before), Fox News, Huffpost, CNN, Daily Mail, the New York Post, and BuzzFeed News. You can also find more extreme anti-moderate news sites here: https://my.lwv.org/california/torrance-area/article/how-reliable-your-news-source-understanding-media-bias-2022

And for the record, I am a moderate-left winger myself but I despise misandristic radical feminists, people who are racist towards white people and anti-Christian people much like I hate misogynists, people who are racist towards minorities, but if this wiki is meant to be reliable criticism, then it should at least use constructive terms and have a balance of both left-wing and right-wing media here. The right-wing bias ultimately led to the downfall of the reception wikis, and as much as I hate reception wikis, I noticed some of you would like to keep it and move on from the biased and not-so-constructive past, I suggest you should start doing something about quality control here so this place won't end up getting taken down by the ShoutWiki staff for harassing/hateful content.

Change proposals to this wiki

Hello Rotten Websites Wiki, I have some proposals of what should be banned on this wiki, which I hope could be improved to become a more constructive and less-biased wiki:

Ban pages of users that under 13: I noticed that there was a page criticizing a user who was born in 2014, and peoples' mindsets are still well underdeveloped when they are young.

Remove the types section on infoboxes: These sections on this wiki are easily exploitable, and not to mention that the negative-sounding version on the types will just make this wiki feel more of a slandering place instead of a place with constructive criticism.

Removing links to Breitbart (and pretty much any far-right and far-left news website): That news website has an extreme right-wing bias according to Wikipedia and allsides.com and that website has even hosted several misleading stories, conspiracy theories, COVID-19 misinformation and discrimination. if possible, we could just find links from the original sources that Breitbart used if possible (If it is online, obviously).

So, what do y'all think? Icantthinkofanamexd ( talk ) 04:12, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
