اسلام پر مضمون

اسلام ایک مذہب کا نام ہے جس کے پانچ ارکان ہیں۔ 1 توحید : یعنی اللہ کو واحد معبود ماننا۔ 2 نماز: ایمان لانے کے بعد اللہ کے لیے نماز پڑھنا یعنی عبادت کرنا۔ 3 روزہ: ماہ رمضان میں اللہ پاک کی رضا کے لیے روزہ رکھنا۔ 4 زکوٰۃ: اللہ پاک کے دیے ہوئے مال میں سے غریبوں کی مدد کرنا۔ 5 حج: باعث استطاعت شخص کو زندگی میں کم سے کم ایک بار خانہ کعبہ کی زیارت و طوافِ کرنا۔ اسلام کی بنیاد ان پانچ ارکان پر مشتمل ہے۔ اسلام کا کلمہ یہ ہے “لا الہ الا اللہ محمد الرسول اللہ ﷺ” ۔ جس کا مطلب ہے ” اللہ صرف ایک ہے اس (اللہ) کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اللہ کے پیغمبر ہیں” ۔ جس نے زندگی میں ایک بار سچے دل سے اس کلمے کو پڑھ اور سمجھ لیا وہ اسلام مذہب میں داخل ہو جائے گا۔

اسلام مذہب کی شروعات عرب ملک سے ہوئی اور پھر حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اللہ کے حکم سے پوری دنیا میں اسلام مذہب کو پھیلایا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اسلام کے آخری نبی ہیں۔ آپ کے بعد نہ کوئی نبی آیا اور نہ اب کوئی قیامت تک آئے گا۔

اسلام کے آنے سے پہلے عرب میں قبیلہ ثقافت کا جاہلانہ دور تھا۔ ہر قبیلے کا اپنا ایک الگ مذہب تھا اور قبیلے کے لوگ الگ الگ بت کو پوجتے تھے۔ کوئی آگ کو پوجتا تھا تو کوئی مورتیوں کو پوجا کرتا تھا۔

یہودیوں اور عیسائیوں کے بھی قبیلے تھے اور وہ بھی مذہب کے بگاڑ کا شکار تھے۔ اللہ کی عبادت کو چھوڑ کر ہر انسان زمین کی چیزوں کو پوجنے میں لگا ہوا تھا۔ پورے عرب میں اس وقت تشدد اور ظلم و جبریت کا بول بالا تھا۔ نہ بچے محفوظ تھے اور نہ ہی عورتیں محفوظ تھیں۔ یہاں تک کہ کسی کی جان و مال بھی کب چلی جائے کسی کو کچھ خبر نہ تھی۔

ہر جگہ ہر طرف بدانتظامی تھی۔ ہر طرف ظلمت کا ماحول تھا۔ ہر طاقتور انسان اپنی طاقت کے زور سے مظلوموں پر ظلم کرتا تھا۔ اچھائی اور برائی میں کوئی فرق نہیں تھا۔ چاروں طرف کفر وشرک کی کالی گھٹائیں چھائی ہوئی تھیں۔ اس اندھیرے کو دور کرنے کے لئے اور لوگوں کو کفر و شرک سے بچانے کے لئے اللہ تبارک و تعالی نے ہمارے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اس دنیا میں پیغمبر بنا کر بھیجا۔

ہمارے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی پیدائش ربیع الاول کی 12 تاریخ کو ہوئی۔ ساری دنیا ہمارے نبی کی پیدائش کا جشن بہت ہی خوبصورت انداز میں مناتی ہے۔ جضور کے دنیا میں تشریف لانے سے پورے مکہ شہر میں جیسے اجالا چھا گیا۔ حضور اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مکہ میں پیدا ہوئے۔ مکہ شہر سعودی عرب میں واقع ہے۔

ہمارے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بچپن سے ہی اللہ کی عبادت میں مشغول رہتے تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اللہ تعالی کی طرف سے پیغام آیا۔ اللہ تبارک و تعالی نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے فرمایا کہ پوری دنیا چاند، ستارے، آسمان، سورج سب میں نے پیدا کیے ہیں اور میں ہی اس دنیا کا مالک ہوں اور میں نے ہی ہر چیز کو زندگی بخشی ہے۔ میں صرف ایک ہوں اور میرا کوئی ساتھی نہیں ہے۔ لوگوں سے کہو کہ میری عبادت کریں اور اسلام کو آگے بڑھاؤ۔

حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ ساری باتیں سمجھ آگئیں اور انہوں نے اللہ تبارک و تعالی سے وعدہ کیا کہ وہ اسلام کو دنیا کے ہر کونے تک پہنچائیں گے اور کفر و شرک کو دنیا سے مٹا دیں گے۔ تب حضور اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو نبوت حاصل ہوئی۔ حضرت محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پر اللہ کی پاک کتاب قرآن مجید اتاری گئی۔ اللہ نے فرشتوں کے سردار جبریل علیہ السلام کے ذریعہ اس کتاب کو حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تک پہنچایا۔ اس کتاب میں اسلام مذہب پر چلنے والوں کے لئے صحیح اور غلط کی پہچان بتائی گئی ہے۔ زندگی صحیح طریقے سے گزارنے کے لیے ہر چیز بتائی گئی ہے۔

'No sign of life' at crash site of helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, state media says: Updates

Hope is dwindling in the search for survivors after "no sign of life" was detected at the crash site of a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister, according to Iranian state media.

Rescue teams had located the incident site on Monday after Raisi and other top officials crashed into a mountainous area of northwest Iran the day before. The officials had been missing for over 12 hours and search operations were hindered by blizzards and difficult terrain through the night.

No survivors were found, Iranian state news agency IRINN and semi-official news agency Mehr News reported. "President Raisi's helicopter was completely burned in the crash ... unfortunately, all passengers are feared dead," an official told Reuters.

Citing Pir-Hossein Kolivand, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Iranian state media reported that rescue teams had identified the incident site early Monday. Kolivand did not provide further details but said "the condition is not good," according to Iranian state news agency IRNA.

A Turkish drone identified a source of heat which was suspected to be the helicopter's wreckage and shared the coordinates of the possible crash site with Iranian authorities, Anadolu news agency said on X.

Darkness and cold, rainy, and muddy conditions made it difficult for rescuers to reach the incident site, according to Iranian state media, which said the rain later turned into driving snow. The chief of staff of Iran's army ordered all the resources of the army and the elite Revolutionary Guard to be put to use in the search and rescue operations, Reuters reported.

Raisi, Amirabdollahian, and other top officials were returning from a trip to the border with Azerbaijan for the inauguration of a dam. Raisi, 63, is second only to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the country's political hierarchy. The hardline Raisi has long been considered a strong candidate to succeed Khamenei, his 85-year-old mentor.

About an hour after the crash, rescue teams reached the area and started search operations, Iran's Press TV reported. But they faced an extremely tough task in the mountain terrain and Babak Mahmoudi, who leads the relief and rescue operation for the Iranian Red Crescent Society, told Press TV that visibility was less than 15 feet.

"We have rain pouring down and the ground is slippery and muddy,'' Mahmoudi said, according to the broadcast's translation. "That has really complicated the efforts there.''

The incident comes at a turbulent moment for Iran, the main supporter of anti-Israeli militia groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen. Last month, Iran took the unprecedented step of firing a barrage of missiles and drones into Israeli territory − an attack largely repelled with the help of U.S. forces − in retaliation for the killing of a top Iranian general and other military officials at the Iranian embassy in Syria, a strike widely attributed to Israel.

The U.S. has been making concerted efforts to keep the Israel-Hamas war from escalating into a regional conflict, most recently sending national security adviser Jake Sullivan on a weekend trip to Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Developments:

∎ Khamenei tried to appease public concerns in a statement, saying: "We hope that God returns the honorable president and his companions to the arms of the nation. All must pray for the health of this group of civil servants. The Iranian nation must not be concerned or worried; there will be no disruption in the work of the country."

∎ The Iranian armed forces have picked signals from the helicopter and a crew member's cell phone, informing rescuers about the location of the crash site, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported.

∎ President Joe Biden has been briefed on the helicopter crash, White House press secretary Jean-Pierre told reporters aboard Air Force One. The State Department said it is "closely following reports" of the incident.

∎ Several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Russia, have offered to help with search and rescue efforts. The European Union said it activated its satellite mapping service to lend assistance at Iran's request.

∎ Raisi and the rest of his traveling party were flying in a U.S.-made Bell 212 helicopter with capacity for 15 people, including crew, although it's not clear how many were on board, Al Jazeera reported.

What power does the Iranian president have?

Raisi was elected president in 2021, and since taking office has ordered a tightening of morality laws, overseen a bloody crackdown on antigovernment protests and pushed hard in nuclear talks with world powers.

In Iran's dual political system, split between the clerical establishment and the government, it is the supreme leader rather than the president who has the final say on all major policies. Khamenei has strongly endorsed Raisi's main policies.

Raisi's victory in a closely managed election in 2021 brought all branches of power under the control of hardliners, after eight years when the presidency had been held by pragmatist Hassan Rouhani, who negotiated a nuclear deal with Obama administration officials.

But Raisi's standing may have been dented by widespread protests against clerical rule and a failure to turn around Iran's economy, hamstrung by Western sanctions.

Raisi had been at the Azerbaijani border for the opening of the Qiz-Qalaisi Dam, a joint project. Interior Minister Ahmed Vahidi told state TV only that one of the helicopters in a group of three had come down in the incident, and that authorities were awaiting further details.

If an Iranian president dies in office, the first vice president takes over, with the confirmation of the supreme leader, who has the final say in all matters of state, according to Article 131 of the Islamic Republic’s constitution.

A council consisting of the first vice president, the speaker of parliament, and the head of the judiciary must arrange an election for a new president within a maximum period of 50 days, the constitution says.

Cold, foggy in mountain forest where helicopter crashed

Weather information from the World Meteorological Organization indicates conditions in the region along and near the border of southern Azerbaijan and northwestern Iran were cloudy with high humidity early Sunday evening.

Pictures circulating in media reports showed rescue workers in dense fog, and that’s supported by images from European satellites that show clouds and fog in the region.

The helicopter reportedly went down in a heavily wooded part of the vast Arasbaran forest where three countries have conservation areas and where scientists study endangered species such as the Persian leopard.

What a ‘Free Palestine’ Means in Practice

Imagine that the campus protesters got their wish tomorrow: Not just “Cease-fire Now” in Gaza, but the creation of a “Free Palestine.” How free would that future Palestine be?

This isn’t a speculative question. Palestinians have had a measure of self-rule in the West Bank since Yasir Arafat entered Gaza in 1994 . Israel evacuated its settlers and soldiers from the Gaza Strip in 2005. Mahmoud Abbas was elected president of the Palestinian Authority that same year and Hamas won legislative elections the next.

How much freedom have Palestinians enjoyed since then? They and their allies abroad argue they’ve had none because Israel has denied it to them — not just by refusing to accept a Palestinian state, but also through road closings, land expropriations in the West Bank, an economic blockade of Gaza and frequent Israeli incursions into Palestinian areas.

There’s partial truth to this. Israeli settlers have run riot against their Palestinian neighbors . The Israeli government imposes heavy and unequal restrictions on Palestinians, as my colleague Megan Stack has reported in painful detail . The frequent mistreatment of Palestinians at Israeli checkpoints is a long-running disgrace.

At the same time, Israeli leaders have repeatedly offered the creation of a Palestinian state — offers Arafat and Abbas rejected. Charges of an Israeli economic blockade tend to ignore a few facts: Gaza also has a border with Egypt; many goods, including fuel and electricity , flowed from Israel to Gaza up until Oct. 7; much of the international aid given to Gaza to build civilian infrastructure was diverted for Hamas’s tunnels, and Hamas used the territory to start five wars with Israel in 15 years.

But there’s an equally important dimension to Palestinian politics that is purely domestic. When Abbas was elected in 2005, it was for a four-year term. He is now in the 20th year of his four-year term. When Hamas won the 2006 legislative elections, it didn’t just defeat its political rivals in Fatah. It overthrew the Palestinian Authority completely in Gaza after a brief civil war and followed it up with a killing, torture and terror spree that eliminated all political opposition.

Perhaps the absence of Palestinian democracy shouldn’t come as a shock. The regime established by Hamas isn’t merely autocratic. It’s more like the old East Germany, complete with its own version of the Stasi, which spied on, blackmailed and abused its own citizens.

“Hamas leaders, despite claiming to represent the people of Gaza, would not tolerate even a whiff of dissent,” The Times’s Adam Rasgon and Ronen Bergman reported on Monday . “Security officials trailed journalists and people they suspected of immoral behavior. Agents got criticism removed from social media and discussed ways to defame political adversaries. Political protests were viewed as threats to be undermined.”

Even this doesn’t quite capture the extent of Hamas’s cruelty. Consider its treatment of gay Palestinians — a point worth emphasizing since “ Queers for Palestine ” is a sign sometimes seen at anti-Israel marches.

In 2019, the Palestinian Authority banned an L.G.B.T.Q.-rights group’s activities in the West Bank , claiming they are “harmful to the higher values and ideals of Palestinian society.” In 2016, Hamas tortured and killed one of its own commanders, Mahmoud Ishtiwi, on suspicions of “moral turpitude” — code for homosexuality. “Relatives said Mr. Ishtiwi had told them he had been suspended from a ceiling for hours on end, for days in a row,” The Times’s Diaa Hadid and Majd Al Waheidi wrote .

Would an independent Palestinian state, living alongside Israel, improve its internal governance? Not if Hamas took control — which it almost certainly would if it isn’t utterly defeated in the current war. And what if the protesters achieved their larger goal — that is, a Palestine “from the river to the sea”?

We know something about what Hamas intends thanks to the concluding statement of a conference that it held in 2021 about its plans for “liberated” Gaza. Any Jew considered a “fighter” “must be killed”; Jews who flee could either “be left alone” or “prosecuted”; peaceful individuals could either be “integrated or given time to leave.” Finally, “educated Jews” with valuable skills “should not be allowed to leave.”

In other words, what the campus protesters happily envisage as a utopian, post-Zionist “state for all of its citizens” would under Hamas be one in which Jews were killed, exiled, prosecuted, integrated into an Islamist state or pressed into the servitude of a Levantine version of Solzhenitsyn’s First Circle. Those same protesters might rejoin that they don’t want a future to be led by Hamas — but that only raises the question of why they do absolutely nothing to oppose it.

This is not the first generation of Western activists who championed movements that promised liberation in theory and misery and murder in practice: The Khmer Rouge came to power in Cambodia in 1975 to the cheers of even mainstream liberal voices . Mao Zedong, possibly the greatest mass murderer of the past 100 years, never quite lost his cachet on the political left. And magazines like The Nation eulogized Hugo Chávez as a paragon of democracy.

These attitudes are a luxury that people living in safe and free societies can freely indulge. Israelis, whose freedom is made more precious by being less safe, can be forgiven for thinking differently.
