క‌థానాయిక ప్రాధాన్యమున్న చిత్రాల‌కి కేరాఫ్‌గా మారారు స‌మంత‌. తొలినాళ్ల‌లో గ్లామ‌ర్ తార‌గా సంద‌డి చేసినా... కొన్నాళ్లుగా త‌న‌లోని న‌టిని ఆవిష్క‌రించేలా క‌థ‌ల్ని ఎంపిక చేసుకుంటూ ప్ర‌యాణం చేస్తున్నారు. ‘యూ ట‌ర్న్‌‘, ‘ఓ బేబి’ చిత్రాల త‌ర్వాత మ‌ళ్లీ ఆమె చేసిన నాయికా ప్ర‌ధాన‌మైన చిత్రం.. ‘య‌శోద‌’. ఈ సినిమాలో స‌మంత గ‌ర్భ‌వ‌తిగా న‌టించ‌డమే కాదు...పోరాటాలూ చేశారు. సినిమా పూర్త‌య్యే క్ర‌మంలో అనారోగ్యంతో ఇబ్బందిప‌డినా స‌రే.. డ‌బ్బింగ్ ప‌నులు పూర్తి చేశారు. పాన్ ఇండియా స్థాయిలో మంచి ప్ర‌చారం, అంచ‌నాల మ‌ధ్య విడుద‌లైన ఈ సినిమా ఎలా ఉందో తెలుసుకునే ముందు  క‌థేమిటో చూద్దాం...

క‌థేంటంటే?

య‌శోద (స‌మంత) మ‌ధ్య త‌ర‌గ‌తి కుటుంబానికి చెందిన అమ్మాయి. ఆర్థిక అవ‌స‌రాల రీత్యా స‌రోగ‌సి ప‌ద్ధ‌తిలో బిడ్డ‌కి జ‌న్మ‌నివ్వ‌డం కోసం డా.మ‌ధు (వ‌ర‌ల‌క్ష్మి శ‌రత్‌కుమార్‌)కి చెందిన ఈవా ఆస్ప‌త్రిలో చేరుతుంది. ఒక ప్ర‌త్యేక ప్ర‌పంచంలా అనిపించే ఈవాలో జ‌రిగే కొన్ని ప‌రిణామాలు య‌శోద‌లో అనుమానం రేకెత్తిస్తాయి. త‌న‌తోపాటు బిడ్డ‌ల‌కి జ‌న్మ‌నివ్వ‌డం కోసం ఆస్ప‌త్రిలో చేరిన తోటి మ‌హిళ‌లు అనుమానాస్ప‌ద రీతిలో క‌నుమ‌రుగైపోతుంటారు. ఇంత‌కీ ఆ మ‌హిళ‌లు ఏమ‌వుతున్నారు? య‌శోద త‌న అనుమానాల్ని నివృత్తి చేసుకోవ‌డం కోసం ఏం చేసింది? ఆ  ఆ క్ర‌మంలో ఆమెకి ఎలాంటి విష‌యాలు తెలిశాయి? ఇంత‌కీ ఈ మ‌ధు ఎవ‌రు? ఈ ఆస్ప‌త్రిలో సంఘ‌ట‌న‌ల‌కీ, బ‌య‌ట జ‌రిగిన మ‌రో రెండు హ‌త్య‌ల‌కీ సంబంధమేమిటనేది మిగతా క‌థ‌.

ఎలా ఉందంటే?

స‌రోగసి నేప‌థ్యంలో సాగే మెడిక‌ల్ మాఫియా క‌థ ఇది. వాస్త‌వ సంఘ‌ట‌న‌ల ఆధారంగా హ‌రి - హ‌రీష్ ద‌ర్శ‌క‌ద్వ‌యం తెర‌కెక్కించింది.  క‌థ సాగే నేప‌థ్యం, మ‌న‌సుల్ని తాకే భావోద్వేగాలు, స‌మంత న‌ట‌న సినిమాకి హైలైట్‌గా నిలిచాయి. గ‌ర్భ‌ధార‌ణ కోసం ఆస్ప‌త్రిలో చేర‌డం, ఈవాలో సాగే ఆరంభ స‌న్నివేశాల‌తో  ప్రేక్ష‌కుడు నేరుగా య‌శోద ప్ర‌పంచంలోకి వెళ‌తాడు. అక్క‌డ అనుమానాస్ప‌దంగా అనిపించే విష‌యాల‌తో ప్రేక్ష‌కుడిని థ్రిల్ చేస్తూ క‌థ‌ని మ‌రింత ర‌క్తి క‌ట్టించ‌డంలో ద‌ర్శ‌కులు స‌ఫ‌ల‌మ‌య్యారు. స‌రోగ‌సి పేరుతో జ‌రిగే నేరం చుట్టూ సాగే క‌థ అనే విష‌యం అర్థ‌మ‌వుతున్న‌ప్ప‌టికీ... ఉత్కంఠ రేకెత్తించే స‌న్నివేశాల‌తో  త‌ర్వాత  ఏం జ‌రుగుతుంద‌నే ఆస‌క్తి మాత్రం కొన‌సాగుతుంది. మాతృత్వం చుట్టూ సాగే స‌న్నివేశాలు, అద్దె గ‌ర్భం కోసం వ‌చ్చిన కొద్దిమంది యువ‌తుల జీవిత నేప‌థ్యాలతో భావోద్వేగాలు పండ‌డం ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధానికి మ‌రింత‌గా క‌లిసొచ్చింది.

ద్వితీయార్ధంలోనే అస‌లు క‌థ‌. సాధార‌ణంగా నేర ప‌రిశోధ‌న జ‌రుగుతున్న‌ప్పుడు దొరికే  చిన్న చిన్న ఆధారాల‌తోనే అస‌లు విష‌యాలు బ‌య‌టికొస్తుంటాయి. ఆ త‌ర‌హా స‌న్నివేశాలే  థ్రిల్‌ని పంచుతుంటాయి. ఈ క‌థ‌లో మాత్రం నేరాలు చేసేవాళ్లే  త‌మ అస‌లు రూపాన్ని బ‌య‌ట‌పెట్ట‌డం అంత‌గా అత‌క‌లేద‌నిపిస్తుంది. క‌థ‌లో థ్రిల్ మిస్ కావ‌డానికి అదొక ప్ర‌ధాన కార‌ణం.  కానీ  మ‌ధు పాత్ర‌లో న‌టించిన వ‌ర‌ల‌క్ష్మి శ‌ర‌త్‌కుమార్, డా.గౌత‌మ్ (ఉన్ని ముకుంద‌న్‌), కేంద్ర‌మంత్రి (రావు ర‌మేష్‌) నేప‌థ్యాలు, వాళ్లు క‌లిసిన విధానం ఆస‌క్తిక‌రంగా అనిపిస్తుంది. ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్లో స‌మంత పాత్ర‌లో మ‌రో కోణం క‌నిపిస్తుంది. అది కూడా సినిమాకి హైలైట్‌గా నిలిచింది.  స‌మంత చేసిన పోరాట ఘ‌ట్టాలు బాగున్నాయి. ఈ క‌థ‌లో భావోద్వేగాలు పండిన‌ప్ప‌టికీ,  ప్రేక్ష‌కుడికి మ‌రింత థ్రిల్‌ని పంచ‌డంలో ద‌ర్శ‌కులు త‌డ‌బ‌డిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. పాన్ ఇండియా స్థాయి సినిమాకి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగా నిర్మించ‌డం సినిమాకి క‌లిసొచ్చే మ‌రో అంశం.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే?

య‌శోద‌గా స‌మంత  న‌ట‌న సినిమాకి ప్ర‌ధాన‌బ‌లం. ఆరంభంలో అమాయ‌కంగా క‌నిపిస్తూ, త‌న‌వైన హావ‌భావాల‌తో వినోదం  పంచిన ఆమె, ఆ త‌ర్వాత త‌న‌లో మ‌రో కోణాన్ని ఆవిష్క‌రిస్తూ పాత్ర‌ని పండించిన తీరు బాగుంది. పోరాట ఘ‌ట్టాల్లోనూ స‌త్తా చాటింది. వ‌ర‌ల‌క్ష్మి శ‌ర‌త్‌కుమార్, ఉన్ని ముకుంద‌న్‌, రావుర‌మేష్‌ల పాత్ర‌లు ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటాయి. ముర‌ళీశ‌ర్మ‌, సంప‌త్‌రాజ్‌, శ‌త్రు అల‌వాటైన పాత్ర‌ల్లోనే క‌నిపిస్తారు. సాంకేతిక విభాగాలు సినిమాకి మ‌రింత వ‌న్నె తీసుకొచ్చాయి. మ‌ణిశ‌ర్మ సంగీతం, అశోక్ క‌ళా ప్ర‌తిభ‌, సుకుమార్ కెమెరా ప‌నిత‌నం సినిమాలోని ప్రతి ఫ్రేమ్‌లో కనిపిస్తుంది. ఈవా ఆస్ప‌త్రిని తీర్చిదిద్దిన విధానం, దాన్ని తెర‌పై అంతే కొత్త‌గా చూపించిన విధానం బాగుంది. సంభాషణలు ఆకట్టుకున్నాయి. ద‌ర్శ‌కులు హ‌రి -హ‌రీష్ తెర‌పై ఓ కొత్త క‌థ‌ని చూపించారు. అయితే ఆ క‌థ‌ని న‌డిపించిన విధానంలోనే అక్క‌డ‌క్క‌డా లోపాలు క‌నిపిస్తాయి.  మ‌రింత థ్రిల్‌ని జోడించ‌డంలో ద‌ర్శ‌కులు విఫ‌ల‌మ‌య్యారు.

ప్రముఖ సినీ నిర్మాణ సంస్థ శ్రీదేవి మూవీస్ బ్యానర్‌పై నిర్మాత శివలెంక కృష్ణ ప్రసాద్ నిర్మాణ సారథ్యంలో సౌత్ ఇండియన్ స్టార్ హీరోయిన్ సమంత ప్రధాన పాత్రలో నటించిన చిత్రం యశోద. హైలీ ఎమోషనల్, యాక్షన్ అంశాలతో కలబోసవిన ఈ చిత్రాన్ని దర్శక ద్వయం హరీ, హరీష్ రూపొందించారు. అత్యంత వివాదాస్పదంగా మారిన అద్దె గర్బం (సర్రోగసి) అనే యూనివర్సల్ కాన్సెప్ట్‌‌ను తీసుకొని ఈ చిత్రాన్ని తెరకెక్కించగా, ప‌లు వాయిదాల న‌డుమ ఈ చిత్రం నేడు ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకు వ‌చ్చింది. ఈ చిత్రం ఎలా ఉందో చూద్దాం.

క‌థ‌ : మ‌ధ్య త‌ర‌గ‌తి అమ్మాయిగా స‌మంత.. య‌శోద పాత్ర‌లో న‌టిస్తుంది. అయితే డ‌బ్బు కోసం ఆమె స‌రోగ‌సికి అంగీక‌రిస్తుంది. అయితే గ‌ర్భ‌వ‌తి అయిన త‌ర్వాత వైద్యులు ఆమెకు నియమ నిబంధ‌న‌లు పెడ‌తారు. ఇక స‌రోగ‌సి గురించి కొన్ని ఆశ్చ‌ర్య‌క‌ర‌మైన విష‌యాలు తెలియ‌డంతో స‌మంత జీవితం పూర్తిగా త‌ల‌కిందులు అవుతుంది. ఆ ప‌రిస్థితుల‌లో స‌మంత ఒడిదుడుకుల‌ని త‌ట్టుకొని ఎలా ముందుకు సాగిదంనేదే మిగ‌తా క‌థ‌.

ప‌ర్‌ఫార్మెన్స్ : యశోదగా సమంత అద్భుతంగా న‌టించింది. ఎప్ప‌టి మాదిరిగానే ఆమె నటనలో తన సత్తా చూపింది, యశోద పాత్రలో భావోద్వేగాన్ని అద్భుతంగా పండించింది మరియు ఆమె యాక్షన్ సన్నివేశాలు చేయడం తెరపైన చాల బాగుంది, వరలక్ష్మి శరత్ కుమార్, ఉన్ని ముకుందన్ మరియు రావు రమేష్, మురళీ శర్మ, సంపత్ రాజ్, శత్రు, మధురిమ, కల్పికా గణేష్, దివ్య శ్రీపాద, ప్రియాంక శర్మ ఇలా అందరూ తమ తమ పాత్రల్లో తమ సత్తా చాటారు.

ఇక టెక్నిక‌ల్ విష‌యానికి వ‌స్తే దర్శకులు హరి – హరీష్ ఒక అద్భుతమైన కథతో అల‌రించే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశారు. కొంత థ్రిల్ మిస్ అయిన‌ట్టు క‌నిపిస్తుంది. భావోద్వేగాల‌ని అందించ‌డంతో కూడా ఇది విఫ‌లం అయిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. సరోగేట్ మోసాలు ఎలా జరుగుతున్నాయో మరియు అమాయక మహిళలు ఎలా బాధితులవుతున్నారో అద్భుతంగా చూపించారు ., ఎం. సుకుమార్ సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది .మణిశర్మ పాటలు అంతగా లేవు కానీ నేపథ్య సంగీతంలో తన అనుభవాన్ని చూపించాడు, అతను తన అద్భుతమైన బ్యాక్‌గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్తో మనల్ని థ్రిల్‌కి గురి చేశాడు.

ఫైన‌ల్‌గా.. ‘సరోగసీ’ నేపథ్యంలో ఇప్పటి వ‌ర‌కు చాలా సినిమాలు వ‌చ్చాయి. అవన్నీ కూడా వేరే యాంగిల్‌లో ఉండ‌డం, ఇది కొంత మన జీవిన విధానానికి సంబంధించినవి కావడం వల్లనే ఈ సినిమా ప్రత్యేకంగా నిలుస్తుంది అన‌డంలో ఎలాంటి సందేహం లేదు.. యశోదలొ కొన్ని లోపాలు కూడా ఉన్నాయి, యశోద ఈ సరోగేట్ స్కామ్ వెనుక ఎవరున్నారో తెలుసుకోవడానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తున్నప్పుడు, చాల ఆసక్తి కరంగా అనిపించినా ఒక్కసారి ట్విస్ట్ రివీల్ అయిన తర్వాత ఇంట్రెస్ట్ అంతా పోతుంది. సినిమా స‌మంత అభిమానుల‌కి మాత్రమే అని చెప్పాలి.

Yashoda movie review: Samantha Ruth Prabhu shines in familiar but engaging thriller

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been very picky when it comes to her female-centric projects. Her choices so far have paid off handsomely with films like U-Turn and Oh! Baby working big time with the audiences. Her latest outing Yashoda, too, falls in the same category, as it offers something new to the viewers and it succeeds to a large extent, despite taking a very familiar route when it comes to some twists. In a refreshing departure from what we’ve seen of her in the recent past, Samantha delivers a knockout performance in Yashoda, playing a role that’s hard to guess for the most part. It’s an earnest performance and she makes even some dull predictable moments watchable with her presence. Samantha plays Yashoda, and her world revolves around her younger sister. When she desperately needs money for her sister’s operation, she signs up to become a surrogate mother. She’s soon transferred to the high-tech facility called Eva; a company that’s helping people fulfil their dreams of becoming parents through surrogacy. It’s a major change for Yashoda, who slowly starts to make friends inside with some fellow surrogate mothers. Everything is fine at first but things slowly start to spiral out of control, and Yashoda suspects that something suspicious about the place. The local police is also investigating a high profile case of a road accident involving a businessman and a top model. As Yashoda tries to uncover the secrets of Eva, a strange connection is established with the case the police are working on. The rest of the story is about what’s Eva actually doing in the name of surrogacy?

Yashoda takes time to actually take off and get the audience invested. It has some very interesting stretches as it openly talks about making surrogacy mainstream and the attempt deserves to be praised. At the same time, it also talks about how we as humans are abusing medical advancement for our own greed. Somewhere, Yashoda tries to walk a tightrope in trying to establish the fact that surrogacy can both be a boon as well as bane. The film’s central premise is very interesting and it’s rarely explored before. This is exactly what makes Yashoda standout, and probably made even Samantha sign the project. The grouse comes in the form of the plot twist which has been tried many times before. It’s not about the familiarity of the plot twist but it’s so generic that it lacks excitement.

Nevertheless, it’s Samantha’s show all the way. The way she handles her character and the eventual transformation is proof of her ability to go the extra mile to make her performance look authentic. Both Unni Mukundan and Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar get very interesting parts and it’s quite bold of both of them to play such characters without much fuss. The production design deserves a special mention since most of the story unfolds inside a large facility and the setwork is commendable.

సమంత (యశోద) తన చెల్లి ఆపరేషన్ కోసం సరోగసికి ఒప్పుకుంటుంది. ఆర్ధిక ఇబ్బందులతో ఇబ్బందులు పడుతున్న పేద అమ్మాయిలకు డబ్బు ఆశ చూపించి సరోగసి తల్లిగా మారడానికి మధు (వరలక్ష్మి శరత్ కుమార్ ) అండ్ గౌతమ్ (ఉన్ని ముకుందన్) ఒప్పిస్తారు. ఈ క్రమంలోనే యశోద కూడా బిడ్డను కని ఇవ్వడానికి ఒప్పుకుంటుంది. అయితే, దీని వెనుక ఏదో కుట్ర ఉంది అని యశోదకు అర్థం అవుతుంది. సరోగసి పేరుతో జరుగుతున్న అకృత్యాలు ఏమిటి ? అని తెలుసుకోవడానికి యశోద ఏం చేసింది ?, అసలు యశోద ఎవరు?, ఎందుకు ఇదంతా చేస్తోంది?, చివరకు సరోగసి పేరు మీద జరుగుతున్న అక్రమ వ్యాపారాన్ని ఎలా అరికట్టింది ? అనేది మిగిలిన కథ.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :

ఈ చిత్రంలో యశోద పాత్ర‌లో నటించిన సమంత తన టెర్రిఫిక్ పెర్ఫార్మెన్స్ తో ఆకట్టుకుంది. తన పాత్రకు తగ్గట్టు వేరియేషన్స్ చూపిస్తూ చాలా బాగా నటించింది. ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో అమాయక యువతిగా.. సెకండ్ హాఫ్ లో అగ్రెసీవ్ బాడీ లాంగ్వేజ్, డామినేట్ చేసే ఆమె యాక్షన్.. ఆమె పాత్రకు ఫర్ఫెక్ట్ గా సరిపోయాయి. పైగా చిన్న చిన్న ఎక్స్ ప్రెషన్స్ తోనే సమంత కొన్ని భావోద్వేగ సన్నివేశాలను చాలా చక్కగా పడించింది.

ఇక విలన్ పాత్రలో కనిపించిన ఉన్ని ముకుందన్ తన పాత్రకు తగ్గట్లే తన లుక్స్ ను తన ఫిజిక్ ను చాలా బాగా మార్చుకున్నాడు. అలాగే మరో ప్రధాన పాత్రలో నటించిన వరలక్ష్మి శరత్ కుమార్ తన నటనతో ఆకట్టుకుంటూ తన పాత్రకు పూర్తి న్యాయం చేస్తూ ఈ చిత్రానికి స్పెషల్ ఎట్రాక్షన్ లా నిలిచింది.

రావు రమేష్, మురళీ శర్మ, సంపత్ రాజ్, శత్రు తమ నటనతో మెప్పించారు. అలాగే మిగిలిన నటీనటులు కూడా తమ పాత్రలకు పూర్తి న్యాయం చేశారు. దర్శకులు హరి – హరీష్ రాసిన ఈ చిత్ర కథ కూడా బాగుంది. సినిమాలోని కొన్ని సంఘటనలు సమాజంలో జరుగుతున్న కొన్ని అక్రమాలను ఎత్తి చూపాయి.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ :

వైవిధ్యమైన పాయింట్ తో దర్శకులు హరి – హరీష్ ఈ కథను రాసుకున్నప్పటికీ ఆసక్తికరమైన కథనంతో సినిమాని పూర్తి స్థాయిలో ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ గా మలచలేకపోయారు. అక్కడక్కడ స్లోగా నడిచే సన్నివేశాలు కారణంగా ఈ సినిమా కొంత స్లో అనిపిస్తోంది. ముఖ్యంగా ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లో కొన్ని సీన్స్ బోర్ గా సాగాయి.

పోలీసులు ఇన్విస్టిగేట్ చేసే క్రమం పెరిగే కొద్ది చాలా ఆసక్తికరంగా ఉత్కంఠభరితంగా ఉండాలి. కానీ ఈ చిత్రంలో చాలా తేలికపాటి ఇన్విస్టిగేషన్ తోనే ముగించడం అంతగా రుచించదు. అలాగే చాలా సీన్స్ లాజిక్ లెస్ గా సాగుతాయి. పైగా కొన్ని కీలక సీన్స్ ను చాలా సింపుల్ గా ఎండ్ చేశారు.

సాంకేతిక విభాగం :

  దర్శకులు ఓ మంచి స్టోరీ ఐడియా తీసుకున్నారు గాని, ఆ ఐడియాకు తగ్గట్టు అంతే కొత్తగా ట్రీట్మెంట్ మాత్రం రాసుకోలేదు. సినిమాలో సప్సెన్స్ ఇంట్రస్ట్ పెంచే స్కోప్ ఉన్నప్పటికీ ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ ని సింపుల్ గా హ్యాండిల్ చేశారు. మ్యూజిక్ విష‌యానికి వ‌స్తే… మణిశర్మ అందించిన సంగీతం బాగుంది. ముఖ్యంగా నేపధ్య సంగీతం చాలా బాగా ఆకట్టుకుంది. సినిమాటోగ్రఫర్ పనితనం బాగుంది. సినిమా మూడ్ కి అనుగుణంగా దృశ్యాలని తెరకెక్కించారు. ఎడిటింగ్ బాగున్నప్పటికీ కథకు అవసరం లేని సీన్స్ ను ట్రీమ్ చేసి ఉంటే బాగుండేది. ఇక సినిమాలోని నిర్మాత పాటించిన ప్రొడక్షన్ వాల్యూస్ కూడా చాలా బాగున్నాయి.

ముందు చెప్పుకున్నట్లు ఓ సోషల్ ఇష్యూకి సంబంధించి చాలా ఇంట్రెస్టింగ్ థీమ్ తీసుకున్నారు. అలాగే ఈ ఫీల్ గుడ్ ఎమోషనల్ డ్రామాలో గుడ్ ఎమోషన్స్, బెటర్ స్క్రిప్ట్, మరియు బెస్ట్ ఫీల్ ఉంది. అలాగే సమంత నటన ఈ సినిమాకే మెయిన్ హైలైట్ గా నిలుస్తోంది. అయితే స్క్రీన్ ప్లే లో స్లో నెరేషన్, కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలు పూర్తి స్థాయిలో ఆకట్టుకునే విధంగా లేకపోవడం వంటి అంశాలు సినిమాకి మైనస్ అయ్యాయి. కానీ, సినిమాలో కంటెంట్ అండ్ ట్రీట్మెంట్ బాగుంది. మొత్తమ్మీద ఈ చిత్రం మెప్పిస్తోంది.

Yashoda Review: Samantha’s Show

Samantha's item song in "Pushpa" went viral last year. A year later, she released the thriller "Yashoda," in which she played the lead. "Yashoda" has sparked interest due to her current health situation as well as the stunning trailer.

Let us examine its highlights and low points.

Story: Yashoda (Samantha) agrees to be a surrogate mother because she desperately needs money. She signs a contract with a corporate hospital and is taken to a hidden location where many surrogate mothers are observed prior to their deliveries.

Yashoda is treated at this centre by a handsome doctor named Gowtham (Unni) and is overseen by beauty pageant contestant Madhu (Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar).  Yashoda soon realises that something sinister is going on. She tries to discover the secrets.

A group of police officers, on the other hand, is investigating the murder of a model. What is the connection between these two threads? Is Yashoda about to reveal a secret?

Artistes’ Performances: Samantha bears the weight of the story on her shoulders. She is convincing in both facets of her character. Samantha has also convincingly performed action stunts. She has made every effort to enthral as the story revolves around her.

Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar is an excellent choice for the role of a "beautiful devil." Unni Mukundan is ideal as a doctor with a hidden agenda.

Murali Sharma, Rao Ramesh, Kalpika, Divya Sripada, Sampath Raj, and Shatru all have done their roles justifiably.

Technical Excellence: The plot revolves primarily around a surrogacy centre. The sets that have been created are lavish. The cinematography is satisfactory. The editing should have been more precise. Action stunts are entertaining.

Music is fuctional. Dialogues are effective.

Highlights: Pre-interval scenes Samantha’s performance Twist in the tale

Drawback: The surrogacy center scenes The uneven second half Climax portion

Analysis Hari and Harish, the Tamil directors, have written a story with a different plot point. Many films have dealt with the theme of medical mafias and evil doctors. Surrogacy-themed films have also emerged. "Yashoda" combines all of these elements and tells a very different story within the framework. 

“Yashoda” begins differently because it combines two unrelated stories - a murder investigation and a surrogacy centre scam. However, the directors gradually build up drama and intrigue before the intermission. The pre-interval scenes are the thriller's main draw. They are not only well-written, but also thrillingly shot. 

But momentum begins to wane after that point. It also becomes predictable after a certain point. The story's twist, while impressive, is also formulaic. Such a twist was seen in an iconic blockbuster 15 years ago, and it has since appeared in numerous films.

And flashback story involves Unni Mukundan and Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar. This story does not completely convince us. It appears to be superficial. Unni Mukundan's and Varalxaxmi's character arcs are underdeveloped.

While the plot and overall concept are intriguing, key scenes are executed half-heartedly. The Murali Sharma/Sampath Raj incident is far too predictable.

"Yashoda" works in parts. Samantha's performance and presence, as well as the film's basic concept and certain episodes, are its strong points. Despite some predictability, it makes an okay watch.

Yashoda review in telugu: ‘యశోద’ మూవీ రివ్యూ.

ఒక థ్రిల్లింగ్‌ సీన్‌ తర్వాత మరో ఎమోషనల్‌ సీన్‌ అన్నట్లుగా ఫస్టాఫ్‌ సాగదీతగా సాగుతుంది. ప్రీఇంటర్వెల్‌ నుంచి కథలో వేగం పుంజుకుంటుంది. ఇక సెకండాఫ్‌ నుంచి వచ్చే ప్రతి సీన్‌ కొత్తగా ఉంటూ ఉత్కంఠ కలిగిస్తాయి. యశోద నేపథ్యం గురించి చెప్పే సీన్స్‌  ‘పోకిరి’తరహాలో ఉంటాయి. వరలక్ష్మీ శరత్‌ కుమార్‌ బ్యాక్‌స్టోరీ కూడా అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోదు. దానిని మరింత డెప్త్‌గా డిజైన్‌ చేస్తే బాగుండేదేమో. క్లైమాక్స్‌ కూడా రొటీన్‌గా ఉంటుంది. సమంత ఫ్యాన్స్‌కు నచ్చే అంశాలు ఈ చిత్రంలో చాలా ఉన్నాయి. 

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే..  ఈ సినిమాకు ప్రధాన బలం సమంతనే. యశోద పాత్రలో నటించడం కంటే జీవించేసిందని చెప్పొచ్చు.  యాక్షన్‌ సీన్స్‌లో అదరగొట్టేసింది. ఈ సినిమా కోసం సమంత పడిన కష్టమంతా తెరపై కనిపిస్తుంది. ఇక సమంత తర్వాత బాగా పండిన పాత్రలు వరలక్ష్మీ శరత్‌కుమార్‌, ఉన్నికృష్ణలది. నెగెటివ్‌ షేడ్స్‌ ఉన్న మధు, డాక్టర్‌ గౌతమ్‌ పాత్రల్లో ఇద్దరూ పరకాయ ప్రవేశం చేశారు. పోలీసు అధికారిగా శత్రు, మిలటరీ ఆఫీసర్‌ వాసుదేవ్‌గా సంపత్‌ చక్కటి నటనను కనబరిచారు. కేంద్రమంత్రి గిరిధర్‌ పాత్రకి రావురమేశ​ న్యాయం చేశాడు. కలికా గణేశ్‌, దివ్యలతో పాటు మిగిలిన నటీనటులు తమ పాత్రల పరిధిమేర నటించారు. 

ఇక సాంకేతిక విషయానికొస్తే.. ఈ సినిమాకు మరో ప్రధాన బలం మణిశర్మ సంగీతం. తనదైన బీజీఎంతో సినిమా స్థాయిని పెంచేశాడు. ఆర్ట్ వర్క్‌, సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ  బాగుంది. పులగం చిన్నారాయణ, డా. చల్లా భాగ్యలక్ష్మి మాటలు ఆకట్టుకునేలా ఉన్నాయి. పంచ్‌ కోసం కాకుండా కథలో భావాన్ని తెలియజేసేలా డైలాగ్స్‌ ఉంటాయి. యాక్షన్‌ సీక్వెన్స్‌ చాలా బాగున్నాయి. ఎడిటర్‌ పనితీరు పర్వాలేదు. నిర్మాణ విలువలు సినిమా స్థాయికి తగినట్లు ఉన్నతంగా ఉన్నాయి.

After a long time, Samantha had been gearing up for the release of her film in theatres, with Yashoda, which has been carrying good expectations on it, ever since the release of its teaser. The film has finally been released today, and let’s see how the film has fared.

Story: Yashoda agrees to be a surrogate mother and joins a huge firm which is known for surrogacy pregnancies, providing reproductively challenged mothers withe babies and making them mothers. However, not everything is as it seems and Yashoda soon realises that. What’s wrong with the establishment and what happens ultimately forms the rest of the story.

On-Screen Performances:

Naturally, Samantha carries the whole film on her shoulders and keeps the audience entertained and on the edge of their seats from the start to finish. She is also highly impeccable in the fight sequences.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Unni Mukundan, Rao Ramesh, Sampath Raj and the remaining supporting cast is good in their roles, contributing well to the progress of the story.

Off-Screen Talents:

The story of Yashoda is simple, and the directors manage to keep everyone guessing what’s next very well, at least until 30 minutes into the second half. However, once the twist is revealed and explanations are given, the story becomes diluted and everything becomes very expected. The dialogues by Pulagam Chinnarayana and Challa Bhagya Lakshmi are good.

The background score of the film, provided by Mani Sharma, is one of the major highlights of the film, contributing quite well to the movie. It adds to the overall feel of the movie well.

The production design and cinematography of the film are also good enough, and it clearly shows that the producers haven’t shied away from investing in the film.

Verdict: Yashoda is a good thriller, but turns out to be quite routine in the end. Samantha is very good in her role, and as long as she’s on the screen, she’ll keep you entertained. If not for adulterated climax, one can watch for thriller elements and Samantha.

6:15 PM EST  – Yashoda movie started with a murder, Samantha signs up to be a surrogate mother

6:30 PM EST  – Investigation starts on the murder of Shiv Reddy a business tycoon. Yashoda moves to a secret house where other surrogates are also kept, Madhu (Vara Laxmi) runs the secret house. Proceedings are flat until now

6:45 PM EST  – Story moves back and forth between Secret surrogate house and the murder investigation. No connection yet between these two parallel stories. Yashoda falls in love with doctor ( Unni Mukundan). Pace picked up compared to first 30 mins of first half..

7:00 PM EST – Story takes an interesting turn now. Yashoda gets suspicious of the happenings in the secret house. Director managed to create some interest around the mystery

7:20 PM EST – Sam’s Fight sequence and the pre interval scene is good. Interval is good and it creates interest on the 2nd half..

First half Report: Movie starts with a somewhat routine story but slowly develops into a mystery thriller that keeps you guessing. Sam’s action in the pre interval scenes is good. Good background score, movie really hinges on how mystery is solved in the second half.

8:00 PM EST – Second half of the movie starts with Yashoda find out what really happens in the secret house. Its all about what is the mystery and who are the people behind it, it also connects with the murder mystery of Shiva Reddy. Movie going on at a steady pace

8:25 PM EST – Samantha sister goes to surrogacy so she wants to find out what’s happening and she is a police trainee..Movie comes to an end..watch this space for the detailed review

Overall the movie is a decent watch, its a mystery thriller that keeps you on the edge for good part of the movie. Could have been better if the climax is not adulterated with sentiment and comedy.

Yashoda Movie Review: Samantha Shines As An Action Star In This Surrogacy Thriller

Yashoda is a 2022 Indian Telugu-language action thriller movie. Hari-Harish wrote the script and directed the film. Samantha Ruth Prabhu is in the lead role along with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Murali Sharma, and Unni Mukundan. The movie was out on November 11, 2022. The concept, performances, storyline twists, and directing of the movie are top-notch.

Yashoda Story

Yashoda, played by Samantha Ruth Prabhu, is a woman in need of money desperately. She consents to be a surrogate for a billionaire to save the health of her sick sister. They then transfer her from the slums to Eva, a luxurious facility, where the owner, Madhu and Doctor Gowtam look after her.

However, inside the facility, unusual behavior and disappearances likely start. Yashoda begins to realize that nothing is as it seems to be. She becomes aware of unlawful surrogacy activities and embarks on a mission to punish those responsible.

Yashoda Movie Review

In Telugu cinema, the idea of surrogacy was never in combination with the sci-fi and thriller genres. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, one of the highest-paid South Indian actresses , is the film’s main star, and directors K. Hari Shankar and Hareesh Narayan rely heavily on her. The beginning of “Yashoda” is full of comic scenes that frequently look silly. The plot occasionally looks lengthy. The film also devotes a lot of time to letting the audience get to know the characters. Samantha Ruth Prabhu makes every effort to easily balance both funny and serious scenes. There are some intriguing moments, such as the death of a Hollywood celebrity and a model, but the plot is poorly connected overall. Yashoda’s second half becomes fascinating.

The mystery begins to come into focus, the cast receives more substantial roles, and the film tries to pull you back in. Samantha’s sequences are the only ones that will keep you glued to the screen since Yashoda eventually becomes too obvious. You get chills listening to Mani Sharma’s ambient music, which acts as an eerie element. In “Yashoda,” Samantha Ruth Prabhu proves once more why she is a powerful actor in addition to being a star. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar also admires Madhu in the movie and keeps improving with each new project. Moreover, the doctor, Unni Mukundan, also makes a good impression. The way the movie “Yashoda” was shot has to be the most notable aspect of it.

Final Verdict

Yashoda is a fusion of action and relationship drama. It speaks to the emotional link between a surrogate mother and the kid and sibling relationships. Yashoda has a fascinating backdrop and is a good movie to watch this weekend. The producers did everything possible to actively promote the movie, which generated a lot of hype. Additionally, it tries to present a new story while combining incredible sci-fi sequences with action. Samantha Ruth Prabhu carries all of the movie’s weight. The only reason to see Yashoda in a theatre is to see Samantha Ruth Prabhu. We give the film 3.5 stars out of 5.

Introduction: Yashoda is a movie written and directed by Hari and Harish as their Tollywood debut. The movie is the first pan-India film of the actress to be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam. Samantha dubbed her own words for Tamil and Telugu. Yashoda is based on real-life crimes around surrogacy. An underprivileged woman becomes a surrogate and unearths a crime. How she saves herself and puts an end to the entire situation is to be seen on the big screen. Samantha comes as a surprise package in the film.

Yashoda is the first feature film to be released in theatres post-Samantha's divorce from Naga Chaitanya. She has been away from the media and her fans due to her prolonged autoimmune disorder, which she only made public recently.

Director duo Hari and Harish made all the right attempts in translating the story from paper to celluloid. They took their sweet time to establish the background of Yashoda, the Eva facility and her initial days at the facility as a surrogate. The first half was rather slow but the interval bang was befitiing. The second half was interesting and the directors unwrapped their twists one after the other, in a racy screenplay. It would have been better if they had given some time in the second half for the viewer to connect to the emotional aspect that they showcased.

Yashoda, a woman living in a lower-middle-class neighborhood is shown in need of money for her dear sister's operation. She agrees to be a surrogate to fulfill the requirement. Yashoda then is taken to Eva, a facility for surrogate mothers. On the other side, the movie begins with the death of a Hollywood actress Olivia, due to a spiked drink laced with a mysterious drug. Also, a business tycoon Shiv Reddy and her girlfriend, the probable winner of the Miss India pageant, Arushi die in a car crash which turns out to be a murder. The people behind the crime, the cause, the reason, and their connection to Eva's facility are revealed towards the end with a big twist.

Performances:

As usual, Samantha shed her blood and sweat to bring out the best of herself and the character of Yashoda. She managed to pull off the entire female-centric subject with great ease and delivered a power-packed performance as Yashoda, switching from a docile woman to a fierce ninja.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar had a role that was designed to implicate an evil woman- all the characteristics of being okay to go to any lengths for money and beauty are shoved into the role, which was a cakewalk for the actress.

Murali Sharma as Commissioner, Rao Ramesh as Central Minister Giridhar, Unni Mukundan as a Gynaecologist Gowtam, and Sampath Raj as mental fitness coach with the police department have been impeccable in their respective roles.

Comedian Josh Ravi appeared on the screen after a long time and was barely there in two scenes, which were still impactful.

Artists Madhurima, Divya Sripada, Kalpika Ganesh, and Priyanka Sharma, who are inmates at the Eva facility have been used appropriately for character build-up in the film.

Technical Aspects:

The cinematography by M Sukumar is quite adequate and the visuals looked fresh, due to the Art Director's visionary sets of Eva facility. Mani Sharma's background score is the heart of the film without which the movie wouldn't have made an impact. However, the length and duration could have been crisped to ensure the movie proceeds at a uniform pace throughout.

Stunt choreographer Yannick Ben, from Hollywood, was flown in to compose fights for Samantha in the film which flowed quite like a breeze and didn't seem over the top. Samantha, who did her stunts in the film appealed to the audience with her work.

Verdict: Samantha's Yashoda is a well-made thriller with adequate elements of thrill, twists, and turns, put together by solid writing and top-notch performances. However, the movie ends on a regular staple formula of good Vs bad and the bad being captured/punished eventually, in a conventional way.

Yashoda Movie Review: The ideas are there, but the execution isn’t

I feel compelled to be kinder towards films that feature women protagonists. We don’t get enough of them, and it’s empowering and cathartic to see women kick a**. Samantha is at the centre of Yashoda and plays a character straight out of the hero playbook. There are fight sequences, there’s a rousing reveal, there’s sister sentiment, there’s a leader angle… And yet, it’s not a protagonist a man could have played. For one, pregnancy is at the thick of things, and it adds flavour that the protagonist, Yashoda , is going through it herself, as she uncovers a horrific conspiracy that exploits women victims. At the end, in fact, there’s something about these women joining to fight back—but it's just cursory symbolism, with no one except Samantha’s Yashoda ever doing much to help themselves. However, it’s still fascinating to behold the joys of ‘testosterone cinema’ playing out with a heroine, instead of a hero—and it helps that Samantha sells the action choreography really well. There’s genuine urgency about her movement, there’s a method to her fighting, and when adversaries collapse around her, you buy that they have been outfought. The action blocks are perhaps the brightest point of Yashoda .

It's a film with many curious ideas. There’s the exploration of surrogacy and a half-hearted attempt to capture the lives of consenting women. There’s a medical facility—no, a high-tech prison—complete with regular audio announcements of the schedule of patients—no, “inmates”. The whole design of the place reminded me of Black Mirror . There’s a fascinating idea about the lengths a woman goes to, to preserve her beauty, and some commentary about what ‘real beauty’ is. There’s even some espionage and sleuthing. And yet, it’s impossible to shake off the realisation that Yashoda should have been a far, far superior film, given the weight of these ideas. A big problem is how unconvincingly these ideas are fleshed out. For instance, Yashoda is shown to forge a deep bond with other inmates, but it happens over unconvincing bits-and-pieces of flaky camaraderie. For the longest time, the screenplay feels disjointed with two separate tracks, with the second, especially—about cops played by Murali Sharma and Sampath, investigating a murder—lacking any real purpose and charm, serving only to distract from the events featuring Samantha.

The big horrific reveals in the second half don’t affect as they should, even if the film does get marginally more interesting when the Madhubala (Varalaxmi) flashback plays out. But even here, pay attention to how a beauty pageant is weakly conceived and executed, and how Madhubala’s character gets introduced, as she throws a stray line about us seeking beauty in even deities. The brightest point in this flashback is when Varalaxmi’s Madhubala, Rao Ramesh’s politician (the actor is a hoot, as always), and Unni Mukundan’s nerd-stalker have a three-way conflict—and the bizarre, exaggerated way in which it plays out results in some campy fun.

While the film—on the surface—is about surrogacy and how women are exploited (a rather nuanced topic a simplistic film like this doesn’t have the stomach for), its portrayal of certain types of women is rather revealing, I think. Let’s leave aside the bad choice to have Samantha look as made-up for a role that’s supposed to be grounded, even if not thoroughly impoverished. There’s an early scene between Yashoda and her friends, as each woman reveals their reason for agreeing to be a surrogate mother. While many talk of poverty and suffering, one woman—with short, coloured hair and a rather ‘modern’ demeanour—speaks of wanting to afford an iPhone. I thought, “Fair enough, it’s your body, your rules.” Well, a twist in the film betrays its view about such women—and let’s say it’s not exactly progressive. Pay close attention to the ‘good woman’ in this film, Yashoda’s friend, and you’ll see that she’s all dressed up as a traditional woman, with long-plaited hair, bindi... You get the idea. There’s a queer character in the film, the head of a fashion brand, and the film doesn’t do itself any favours with how it portrays this person either. The villain—Madhubala—is one who gets an abortion and doesn’t become a ‘mother’. All of this made me wonder whether Yashoda is conceived as a film meant to valourise pregnancies, meant to reaffirm the dated idea that it’s motherhood that makes a woman. An end scene of childbirth, another previous scene of a woman sharing a story about her husband’s inability to produce a child… All of this makes you wonder.

And of course, when a film and its protagonist are named Yashoda —the foster mother of Krishna—the significance is rather straightforward. And yet, this film, more than once, drums in this idea, even referencing Krishna’s birth at one point. It doesn’t seem to think you’ll get it otherwise. Perhaps if Yashoda had respected us better, we might have ended up with a more nuanced take on the subject of surrogacy and a film that might perhaps have been more deserving of Samantha’s action exploits.

Yashoda Movie Review : Samantha’s much-anticipated film Yashoda has finally arrived today November 11, 2022, as the trailer got a brilliant response and the plot grabbed the attention, well, without any delay let’s delve into the in-depth review and find whether the film lives up to the expectations are not.

Yashoda(Samantha) is a middle-class girl who accepts to become a Surrogate and she becomes pregnant as She is instructed to abide by a few rules about her safety and physical well-being. However, once she gets to know about the shocking truths about Surrogacy, a series of incidents force Yashoda to live dangerously, endangering her health, Finally, how Yashoda gets out of that maze is the rest of the story.

Movie Verdict

The movie takes time to get into the actual story as we can see all the key characters’ introductions at the beginning of the film, however, once the twists unfold to Yashoda then the film gets interesting and makes you glued to the seat and from there the pace of the film fireworks as you can see unf0lding many layers of the story which are quite interesting to watch it on screen.

The major attraction of the film is the premise, a premise we have never seen in any film, Yashoda has all the elements that will surely connect all sections of the audience. The right amount of drama and a gripping screenplay made the first half engageable, The second half gets even more interesting when all the layers unfold, and also the second half focused on motherhood emotion, and that emotion land well.

We have seen a few movies made on the backdrop of ‘Surrogacy’ but this film stands out because it has many layers and all of them are somewhere related to the viewers. Yashoda has a few flaws as well, while Yashoda is trying to know who is behind this surrogate scam, the point itself is quite intriguing and the suspense is held by the makers quite well but once the twist is revealed, that was not convincing at all.

Samantha as Yashoda did a brilliant job as a Surrogate she showed her mettle in acting, there are many layers has Yashoda’s character and she effortlessly did it and it’s quite good to see her doing action scenes, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar, Unni Mukundan and Rao Ramesh, Murali Sharma, Sampath Raj, Shatru, Madhurima, Kalpika Ganesh, Divya Sripada, Priyanka Sharma, all do their best in their respective roles.

The twin directors Hari – Harish came up with a brilliant tale and they delivered one of the finest films, though the writing deviated from the story the du0 succeeded in providing the right amount of thrill and the right amount of emotion. Many people are unaware of Surrogates as they showcased brilliantly how Surroagate scams are happening and how innocent women have been becoming victims.

Technically, Yashoda looks good, M. Sukumar’s cinematography is good as his framing, and shot composition takes you into the world of Yashoda, Manisharma’s songs are not up to the mark but he showed his experience in Background music, he makes us feel thrilled with his brilliant background score and  Ashok has done a brilliant artwork as the sets were erected so well and rest of the team did well.

Overall, Yashoda is well made Emotional Thriller and the film can be watchable by all sections of the audience.

Yashoda movie review: Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s good performance weakened by mindless narration

Yashoda movie review: samantha ruth prabhu brings grace to the role. but, the film's grindhouse treatment negates the impact of samantha's performance which has a lot of conviction..

Filmmakers Hari Shankar and Harish Narayan mock people’s intelligence with their latest film Yashoda , which stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead role . They have taken a fairly good idea that could have been a compelling popcorn entertainer and turned it into an insincere melodrama. Their treatment of the movie seems very much inspired by the drudgery of Indian soap operas and less influenced by passion, intelligence and artistry.

The movie begins with the death of a Hollywood actor under mysterious circumstances in Hyderabad . And enter two white people, who have no screen presence or acting skills, as the representatives of the US government. Their bad lip sync adds to the stink. The narration then jumps to another mysterious death. A supermodel and a rich businessman die in a car crash. At first, it seems a tragedy happened due to stupidity. The model tries to exchange a kiss with the businessman behind the wheels. The businessman indulges her, resulting in the crash. But, a hard-boiled investigator with an injured leg, Vasudev (Sampath Raj), walks in and declares: “This car accident is no accident. It’s a pre-planned murder!” “What? How?” exclaims the police commissioner, played by Murali Sharma.

With a lot of free time to kill, Vasudev is more than happy when he’s asked to assist in the investigation into the car accident. And then Vasudev begins to behave like a character straight out of C.I.D. He embodies the spirit of ACP Pradyuman as he makes it a point to state the most obvious things he sees at a crime scene.

Vasudev looks at a dead body and deduces, “Oh, he is dead!” Yes, we know what a dead man looks like. “He ate this food two days ago.” Yes, genius, we can see the date on the invoices attached to his food parcels. Do you have something better? “The dimensions of the freezer compartment are off.” Okay, that was an acceptable observation compared to all the low-hanging clues he picked earlier.

Vasudev’s unintentionally hilarious investigation runs parallel to Yashoda’s (Samantha Ruth Prabhu) story. She is at the end of her first trimester. And she is packed off to an undisclosed facility, which she will call home until she delivers her baby. She leaves her poor neighbourhood in an expensive car. It’s a wonder that it didn’t raise the alarm among her neighbours. Yashoda is given a pill. “What’s this for?” she asks her bruiser escort. And the guy does what could be termed a poor man’s Morpheus (The Matrix). An approximation of his dialogue. “You take the pill, we can go to the wonderland. Or you can go back to your life.” She takes the pill and wakes up in a well-furnished room; comfy blankets, fancy clothes, a fridge stacked with food, everything that a pregnant woman ever needs to stay happy. And there she befriends other women who have also become surrogate mothers for financial reasons.

But, the swanky building and the promises of a better future stand on the corpses of hundreds and hundreds of innocent lives. Yashoda is about to discover what she has got herself into and Madhu (Varalaxmi Sarathkumar) and Gautham (Unni Mukundan) are about to find what Yashoda is made of.

Hari and Harish have a slew of interesting elements in the movie. But, instead of blending all these elements in a clever narration, they resort to exploitation. Instead of making the audience feel something, this movie exploits their feelings towards expecting mothers and unborn babies. And the filmmakers have not even been smart about that. The information dump is juvenile and lacks any discernible intelligence.

In the middle of a Mexican standoff of sorts, Yashoda feels it’s perfectly logical to recall her long-drawn sob backstory and explains why she came into this mess. And all the powerful guys involved in this large-scale, multinational, medical crime do everything by themselves. A corrupt cop video calls a central minister to live-stream the murder he is about to commit.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s performance as Madhu is so convincing and lacks any basic merits of movie acting. Samantha Ruth Prabhu brings grace to the role. But, the film’s unintelligent grindhouse treatment negates the impact of Samantha’s performance which has a lot of conviction. She was especially brilliant in action scenes. It’s a classic case of a good actor shining in a bad movie.

After Anushka, it’s only Samantha who is able to pull off female-oriented movies with ease in Tollywood. The star actress who has a big lineup of movies for release comes out with a thriller ‘Yashoda’ which revolves around the surrogacy mafia. The movie created all the required attention before its release. The movie has finally hit the screens today. Let’s see what the movie is all about.

Yashoda (Samantha) comes from a poor financial background and is in desperate need of money. To secure herself financially, Yashoda agrees to become a surrogate mother. After agreeing to become a surrogate mother, she is shifted to Eva, a surrogacy center run by Madhu (Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar). Everything goes smoothly for Yashoda but one small incident raises doubt in her mind. Yashoda then takes its upon herself to find out the truth behind the surrogacy mafia. How she unravels it is the main story.

Plus Points:

The plot which is never attempted in Telugu cinema looks refreshing and novel. The director duo presented the whole surrogacy concept in an interesting and intriguing manner.

Apart from Samantha, it’s Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar who steals the show. She is getting better with each film and gets a meaty part once again. She nailed the role as the head of the surrogacy center. Varalxmi’s flashback in the second half with Rao Ramesh is very good.

While the first half is ok, it’s in the second half, the actual twists begin and they are executed well. The action part and suspense elements have been unraveled quite well in the second half. Murali Sharma, Sampath Raj, Unni Mukund, and Kalpika Ganesh are good in their respective roles.

Samantha has once again given her best performance. Be it in emotional scenes, or action scenes, Samantha excelled in all.

Minus Points:

One of the biggest drawbacks of the movie is the logical issues. Though the surrogacy center is equipped with high-technology cameras. Samantha escapes them easily. Such scenes are plenty and look a bit over the top.

The movie begins on an interesting note until Samantha reaches the surrogacy center. From there, the movie becomes flat and dragged.

On the whole, Yashoda is one more one-woman show from Samantha. Barring a few illogical scenes and some lags in the movie, Yashoda is a decent watch.
