Essay Sample on A Day in My Life

I will be sharing what a day in my life looks like. Now your thought must be like, day in a life!? In a blog post?? Well yes!! But before I start writing my day, I want you to comment below, what is the one thing you do daily which makes you keep going (other than brushing obvi). So, let’s start my day!

I wake up around 5 – 5:30am. Some days when I am really tired, I wake up at 6am if I have class and 7am if no class in the morning.  After finishing all my morning routine, I start of my day by doing workout and kriya [you will know more about this is in my next blog] which keeps me refreshed and energetic throughout the day. I then study for a bit and somedays I have tuitions in the morning. That comes to end of my morning routine.

My classes start from 8am and go on till 1pm and somedays till 3pm. During the breaks I like to take small walks or just be away from the screen for as long as possible so that I will be able to concentrate for the upcoming sessions. Here are some tips on how to improve concentration during these times:

  • Workout/Meditate

The first thing you can do in the morning is to workout or meditate which keeps you energized and active throughout the day. You could also do some walking or even listen to music.

  • Be active during breaks

What do I mean by active? What I meant was, instead of staying in front of the screen, go walk around or help with some household work. This keeps you away from the screen for a while so that you are all set to go for the next sessions. And also so that your eyes don’t get strained.

  • Have a proper sleep schedule

Make sure you at least have 6-7 hours of sleep so you can be refreshed for the next day so you can concentrate more.

  • Take notes & participate

It is very important to participate in class so that it is easier for you to ace your tests and also notes help you to refer to it the day before your exam which makes it a lot easier rather than studying everything in last minute

That’s it for the tips! Let’s get back to my day.

Once I am done with school, I like to relax a bit, spend some time with family and listen to music. I take rest for about an hour and have some snacks as well to get me back on track with whatever I have left over.

Sometimes I do music practice. After this I catch up with homework and some other studying which I have to get done. By the time I am done with all this it is about 7pm. After 7pm I prefer not to keep any school work but only attend my last class which is at 8:30pm.

In the duration of an hour and a half, I play with my mom, usually cards and then have my dinner and just chill. I prefer not to use my phone during this time. Once I am done with my last class of the day, I just check if I have done everything for the day with my to do list and responding to school messages. When I am done with all this, I keep my phone away and I spend some “daddy-daughter time” because we both are busy with our works throughout the day and we both have a common free time after 9:30pm.

We spend about 15-20 minutes together talking about what I did the entire day and about his day and what tests or anything about the following day. Now, we have come to the end of the day. I fall asleep by about 10pm or 10:30pm max. And the same routine repeats in all the weekdays! Weekends I don’t have a specific routine! That’s all for this blog! See you guys in the next one!

A Day In My Life Essay 100 words For Students

In the grand tapestry of life, every day is like a thread woven into a beautiful pattern. As a 13-year-old with a penchant for discipline and a thirst for adventure, my daily routine is a crucial part of who I am. I believe that how we spend our days defines who we are becoming, and I aspire to make each day count.

Essay On A Day in My Life For Students

Morning routine.

My day begins with the first rays of the sun gently peeking through my window. The morning air is crisp, and as I stretch and greet the day, I am filled with a sense of gratitude. Mornings are sacred to me; they set the tone for the hours ahead.

First and foremost, I dedicate time to my studies. The pursuit of knowledge is a path I embrace with determination. Whether it’s algebra or history, I approach each subject with the same enthusiasm and diligence instilled in me by my parents, both doctors who understand the importance of discipline.

After a hearty breakfast, I embark on an adventure that invigorates my spirit: dancing. My hobby is my refuge, a place where I can express myself freely. I attend a dance class after school, where I challenge myself to learn new moves and perfect my technique.

School Life

School is not just a place of learning; it’s a platform for growth. I participate actively in all school activities, from academic competitions to sports events. My academic performance is a point of pride, but it’s not just about grades; it’s about embracing the joy of learning.

My friends, especially my closest confidante, Sanika, are pillars of support. Together, we navigate the challenges of adolescence, always ready to help each other in times of need. The camaraderie we share is a source of strength, reminding me of the importance of genuine friendships.

Afternoons and Evenings

The afternoons are reserved for extracurricular pursuits. Reading, my faithful companion, occupies a significant part of my day. I find solace in the pages of novels and history books, transported to different worlds and time periods. It’s my way of broadening my horizons.

I am punctual and disciplined, values instilled by my parents, and this extends to my everyday life. Be it finishing homework or helping friends with their doubts, I believe in doing everything promptly and responsibly. My parents have been my guiding stars, teaching me life’s moral values and aiding me in making important decisions.

As the day winds down, I often find myself in the park, book in hand, absorbing the serenity of nature. It’s a time for reflection, a moment to think about my dreams and aspirations.

Dreams and Aspirations

While many aspire to become doctors or lawyers, I harbor a unique dream—I want to be a writer. My passion for reading has evolved into a fervor for storytelling. My parents have always been my biggest supporters, encouraging me to follow my dreams.

Every day in my life is a chapter waiting to be written, a canvas waiting for my brushstrokes. It’s a journey where I embrace each moment with sincerity, responsibility, and ambition. My family, friends, and personal aspirations shape my days, adding depth and meaning to my existence.

In this unfolding story of my life, I am the author, and each day is a new opportunity to create something beautiful, meaningful, and uniquely mine.

2. Write an Essay on Your Daily Life  by Darshan Kadu

“Life is too precious to be idled away in lethargic existence and in useless ventures. My daily routine is jam-packed with actions and activities and keeps me and my mind busy all the time. The adventures of daily life make it interesting and an exciting journey.”

On school days, Kadu’s daily routine includes jogging, getting ready for school, and having breakfast with the whole family. After school and attending meetings, he usually plays with friends in the field. Kadu also mentions how he spends his holidays. He believes that even though he has a daily routine, it’s exciting and full of adventure.

“Ancient Egyptian’s daily life revolves around the Nile and the rich soil around it… daily lives of people have changed a lot since then.”

This essay shows how religion helped the Ancient Egyptians run their daily lives. The author discusses changes in festivals and the treatment of gods and royalty. To make an effective comparison, they use three examples: the importance of family, the Nile, and slavery.

The writer mentions that the Nile was essential in Ancient Egypt because it provided food to the people. Modern Egyptians no longer depend on the Nile river and its rich soil. As for working, people used to be enslaved by the rich and were forced to farm. Now, while farming is a work option, slavery doesn’t happen anymore. Early marriage is also forgotten, but the importance of family is still the same for all Egyptians.

Subedi believes that people spend the day depending on their roles. Because he’s a student, he talks about how a typical school day goes for him, noting how he follows a strict schedule to do his homework, play with friends, and prepare for the next day.

Subedi mentions how Saturdays and holidays distract his daily routine and shares how he feels like a machine with the readers. However, he also says that he knows it’s necessary to have a successful life. You might also be interested in these essays about New Year .

“There are channels that beam programs 24 hours a day. Whereas this may be a boon for the people who do not have much to do anyway, it becomes a source of great distraction for children for whom the priority should be their studies.”

Technology like television is essential today but can also be a distraction to many. Prasanna refers to television as the most common form of entertainment that provides information on what’s happening worldwide. However, some shows have mature or violent elements that have adverse effects, especially on children. Additionally, those who spend too much time watching television will miss the thrill and excitement of going out and meeting other people.

Memorable Day of My Life: 120 Words

Last month, our school arranged a trip to the Taj Mahal, Agra. The beauty of the Taj Mahal seemed to have no parallel.  It is made of white marble on the bank of the river Yamuna. The garden in front of it has tall cypress trees, colourful flowers, and rows of mountains. Many precious gems and stones are seen set on the tomb.

I found in the Taj Mahal the artistic and cultural heritage of India. Every stone of this building tells the story of the true love of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz. The white marble structure unrolled before me a new world of beauty. It is, indeed, matchless in beauty and grandeur. That’s why it is considered one of the seven wonders of the world. I was greatly charmed by its beauty. I felt breathless for a white. It was undoubtedly the most memorable day of my life.

I was enrolled in a vocal training course in an eminent singer’s singing class and from there, based on my performance I was selected to display my skills at the Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. A moment which is sweet lasts long in our memory. I distinctly remember the day. My H. S. examination was over and I was having a relaxed time. One day, after spending the afternoon with my friends, I returned home.

My parents were waiting for me. Sister also came running. She was carrying a big envelope in her hand. They all seemed to be very excited and their faces bore reflections of animated joy. My sister shouted that there was a good news for me in the envelope and she would not tell unless she got a heavy bakshis.

After much cajoling, I could get the letter. Lo and behold! It was the admission letter from the I.I.T, Kharagpur. My joy then knew no bounds, I did quite well in the joint entrance examination. But to get selected finally in the highly competitive all-India test was something none could be sure of. In fact, I was a little tense to know the result.

Parents blessed me for my success. Neighbours also came. They all congratulated me again and again. I was lost in golden dreams. At last, I was going to join an institution of international fame! It was the happiest and most memorable day in my life because my future career got a definite direction that day. But that happy day taught me a lesson, too. I made up my mind to work hard in order to be successful in my career.

Daily Journal: a Day in My Life

A day in my life Victoria A. Solis SOCI111, American Military University 16 February, 2012 Daily Journal I woke up at 5.00am this morning after a decent rest. I felt energetic because I slept early yesterday at around 9pm. I jumped out of bed and tidied my room saving time for my morning jog. Later I went down stairs and found mum already up and watching her favorite morning sermon on television. I greeted her and asked for my brother: he was still asleep; he is not as hardworking as I am. I took the dog and told mom I was going jogging. Once out of the gate I started jogging slowly into the nearby park where my friends and I go jogging every morning and on weekends. I had jogged for about half an hour when I met Cindy one of my …show more content…

Jogging, I happened to meet one of my neighbors and friend Cindy. We related extremely well as friends since childhood, and this interaction is what brought us together. Relating to people around us is what makes us human; we can be termed as social beings. Organization is what describes the role of doing things in a social group (Eubank, 1932); I followed my daily routine of waking up, tidying up, jogging and getting ready for work in an orderly way so that things done in the house and by other family members would not be affected. After jogging, I dressed up to look neat and maintain my image in the community. Mom had made breakfast for us before we went to school that was her duty to the family, and she expected all of us at the table for breakfast. We took breakfast as an institution; institutions involved the arrangements done by human beings in interaction with each other and regularly just like we did every morning for breakfast. School was mandatory, and that was another step in life that I had to complete in order to find my place in the community. I rushed to school; a place that gave me identity and gave me with knowledge. Going to school made me motivated, responsible, and focused and I needed to be a successful individual in my society. School was also not just a learning institution, but it gave me the identity

I kept a five-day journal and it was not interesting at all. I never really had any stressful days. I usually don’t have very many stressful days. I always say it is because I am a very calm person and go with the flow. I worked three of those days and everything was smoothly. A couple weeks ago this would have been a great assignment because I was so overwhelmed with work, school and take care of my three year- old grandson. I noticed that if anybody bothered me my stress level went higher and higher. What I ended up doing the last couple days of that week before my assignments where do each day I set my schedule to just work on school work for four hours and no more and I chose not to work on those days. By doing that the stress level went

College Essay Rough Draft

As a young boy, I never truly put much into school. I put as little thought about college as well, but it took one moment that made me want the desire to succeed in my life and make something of it. Working for 12 straight hours in the middle of the hot sun, making minimum wage wasn't how I wanted to live. Going to multiple jobs and having to work all weekend, even during school occasionally was extremely difficult. This just gave me that extra drive to be more superior than anyone else. Yet, I never gave up and still pushed to be the best student I could be. Staying up late nights just to finish homework so I was able to make the best grade in class. The simplest moments in life made we want to be the best

Narrative Essay On Immigration To College

School was a place where I could leave the dysfunctional atmosphere I live in and nothing took my mind off of my hardships like sports, music, and community service. To avoid the life I lived when school was over, I would learn new instruments and play different sports. I even began to participate in restoring Seattle parks every Saturday with a group called Earth Corps through a non-profit organization called Global Visionaries. I learned leadership skills and met people that changed my life for the better. I realized that there were many things I could do that would allow me to learn and give back to the community and at the same time allow me to escape from my

Why I Want To Pursue A Degree In Special Education

Time and time again I've found myself declaring education as the central pillar of my growth and development, that of which has been consistent throughout my life and educational career. From the age of 8 I've attributed school and learning as a way to escape the outside world, both willingly, and as an involuntary coping mechanism; school was a refuge, a safe place where I could build healthy relationships and escape my worries. I felt valued by my teachers, and I was given opportunities to contribute to a community, and for the first time felt autonomous- and that I could control my future.

Dr. Wiley Cole: An English Teacher

An average person spends about 9% of his or her life in school. That’s roughly 14,000 hours in school from the time you enter kindergarten, until the time you graduate high school. Growing up we almost always swear that going to school is the worst possible thing our parents could ever make us do. We thought of it as a punishment rather than a privilege. I had these same emotions majority of my school career, until I met the one teacher who made me excited to come to school every day.

America Skips School By Benjamin R. Barber And America Needs Its Nerds By Leonid Friedman

When I was growing up, my parents expected me to do great in school and they taught me that getting a good education was your ticket to living a nice and successful life and career, and in order to do well in school I would have to study and get good grades. Journal of My Two Live

Reading Jhumpa Lahiri’s essay, My Two Live, I got that the author, as an Indian-American, tried to define herself throughout her whole life. The changing of her feeling for her identity and the death of her parents and her bicultural experience changed her feeling for her identity from humiliating to confusing to accepting to cherishing. Lahiri wanted convey us that the bicultural things can be seen as a shifting equation and she used “one plus one” for instances. Basically, I agree with her notion. Cell Phones in School

I still maintain to this day that school is a place to learn languages, learn maths, learn history, and, most importantly, learn how to learn. It is not a place to learn conformity or regulations that have no bearing on society, or becoming a drone who automatically accepts everything an authority figure tells them.

Where's Waldo Speech

In my opinion, it was a giant daycare. I viewed school as an extended time period to play with my friends. Now that all of my friends were gone, school had lost its purpose. But like a knight in shining pink armor, Ms. Furry came to my rescue. She taught me that the real reason why I should go to school was so I could be equipped with the skills I needed to be successful in life. Education is the fundamental step in developing knowledge. Knowledge is power. Power is the ability to do something and influence others. Therefore, the power of education enables me to be an influential leader of my peers. I didn’t like to wake up early in the morning for school , but as time flew by I started loving school which made me wake up with energy instead of tiredness. Essay About Myself

School, to me and among many peers of my age, is not a distant term. I have spent one-third of my life time sitting in classrooms, every week since I was seven years old. After spending this much time in school, many things and experiences that happened there have left their mark in my memory. Some are small incidences while some have had a great impact on me. However, regardless the degree of significance, things that happened all contributed to shape the person that I am now.

Essay on Happiest Day in My Life – 300 Words

Such happiest days in one’s life are quite a few and rare. They come once in a blue moon. They do not visit us every day. If someday is `happiest’ for someone, it may be ‘saddest’ for somebody else. All days are not equal. Some may be quite cheerful. Others may be sorrowful. Life is visited by weals and woes by turn. If you are sad today, you may be pretty glad the next day. Someone wins a lottery on a particular day. That day becomes for him the happiest day of his life. One gets plucked in the examination; he calls this day as the most miserable. But in my life, the happiest day is 17th September. I was born on this day. It was on Saturday. People take pride in their birthdays. They attach special importance to such days when they saw the light of the day. So for me, my birthday is a significant day. Relatives and friends come to me. They share my happiness. They partake cake, sweets and dinner. Choicest dishes are prepared. The house is decorated, electric bulbs and tubes are lighted. Canopy is hung. Mats, carpets and rugs are spread out. The cake is ordered. It is brought and cut. All wish me a happy birthday. They cheer me, they sing songs, they dance. The whole atmosphere pervades with joy. I become the hero of the day. Eat and drink goes on long in the night. Gifts and presents are heaped on me. I feel excessively jubilant and gay. I celebrate this day with great pomp and show. I wait for this day for days together. Every year this date reminds me that I am older by one year. It is a day of reckoning (thinking) for me. I assess my success and failure. I take account of my failings. I resolve to be just and considerate. I vow to be sincere to my friends, relatives and my country. It is a day of great rejoicings and merry-makings for me and for my family. Every year this day is the happiest day of my life. My happiness is unbounded. It is limitless. It has its own charms and attractions. Hove this day very much; but sorry it comes once in a year.

Happiest Day of My Life edumantra.net

There is hardly any living being who has never gone through ups and downs in his life. Life is full of incidents both good and bad. Some of them may be forgotten with the passage of time whereas others leave an everlasting imprint on the mind. One feels delighted when fortune favours one but one plunges into despair during misfortunes. A wise man is one who is neither overjoyed in prosperity nor takes adversity to heart. Last year, I passed the Senior School Certificate Examination. Though I had given it my best shot, I was not confident of scoring too well. Anything less than a first division would certainly throw a spanner in the path of my future career. The day before the result was expected, I spent a restless night. Early next morning, I along with a few friends hurried to school and went straight to the display board. Starting at eye level I went down the list, with my heartbeat going up as I reached the bottom. My name was not there. With a heavy heart, I ran my eyes up to the list. And there! I looked again. Yes, it was my name—second in the list. Not only had I secured the first division, but also stood second in my class. God fulfilled my desires. I felt grateful to Him. My friends also passed, securing good marks. In order to celebrate our success, we decided to go to a picnic. We reached Okhla, a lovely picnic resort, at 12 noon. The heavy rush of visitors could not deter our enthusiasm as we sought out a huge banyan tree on the banks of the canal. We spread out our mats and opened up the food hamper. The lively music and delicious food swept away all the tension of the past few days. The idyllic atmosphere was abruptly broken by some loud cries. The sound came from the canal side. I immediately rushed towards the canal and was shocked to see a boy drowning. He was crying for help. I jumped into the canal and swam towards the drowning boy. After a great struggle, I dragged him towards the bank. He was in a very bad state. When I observed him carefully, I was surprised to see that he was an old classmate of mine. He was given medical aid and after some time, he regained consciousness. I was delighted to see him recovering. My joy knew no bounds because I had saved the life of a boy, who happened to be my old classmate. It was a day of great joy and happiness. Not only did I secure the second position, but also did a brave and noble act by saving a boy from the jaws of death. This day would go down as one of the happiest days of my life.

A Day in The Life (Short Film)

April 1, 2024, nicole tacconi '26.

“I wish Princeton felt like this.”

A comment from my fellow classmate after my short film (shown above) was screened for my digital animation class.

I think it’s fair to say my animation has quite a calming undertone. I wanted to capture the monotonous yet beautiful moments of my days here at Princeton - the simplicity of studying in Firestone Library during the early mornings, my bike rides across campus, and the much needed coffee breaks at Coffee Club.

While I love to honor these small moments, I think many students, like my classmate, often experience a very different day in the life of Princeton. What I see at Princeton, which is often a love for these small moments, is not what everyone sees. But what I’ve learned during my time here is that Princeton can be so many things - too much to sum up in a day.

Incoming freshmen often want a description of what a “day in the life” looks like at Princeton. Of course I could generalize my experience as stressful and overwhelming while simultaneously everything I could ask for in a college experience. It’s hard to describe the beautiful stressors, challenging moments, and new experiences that go on here. Ultimately, Princeton is a very unique college experience inside the “orange bubble” - an almost alternative universe on campus where you're swept up and time passes in odd ways.

But there are so many nuances in an experience. The description above, and further my own animation, fall short of describing so many aspects of Princeton: days where you’re in Firestone from sun up till sun down studying, memory making late night chats with roommates, or even how campus comes alive in spring as students flock to Cannon Green for picnics and frisbee games.

Princeton is too large to sum up in one day or one animation. Further, I think it’s important for incoming students to realize that Princeton is not a “day in the life”. No experience is. Despite being in the same academic and physical environment, everyone experiences college differently - hence the disparity between how I view Princeton through my animation and my classmate’s reaction. But with this comes an important lesson; the reason we experience things differently is partly due to how we choose to perceive life around us. Our own experiences are ultimately what we make of them. At the end of the day, Princeton is what you make of it. So how do I answer the question: “what is a day in the life like at Princeton University?” It’s up to you to tell that story - my only advice, remember the sky's the limit.

500 Words Essay on Unforgettable Day in My Life

Life is a blend of moments, some memorable, some ordinary, and some unforgettable. An unforgettable day in my life was when I experienced the exhilarating thrill of paragliding for the first time. This day not only brought me an adrenaline rush but also instilled in me a fresh perspective on life.

Anticipation and Uncertainty

The day started with a blend of anticipation and uncertainty. The thought of soaring high in the sky, with the wind against my face, was both exciting and nerve-wracking. I had always been a bit of an adventure junkie, but paragliding was a step beyond my comfort zone. The sheer height at which the activity takes place was enough to make my heart pound. However, I was determined to overcome my fear.

The Leap of Faith

The moment arrived when I had to take the leap of faith. Strapped into the harness, I could see the vast expanse of the sky above and the ground below. The instructor’s words echoed in my ears, “Just run, and don’t stop until you’re in the air.” As I sprinted down the slope, the wind caught the parachute, and within moments, I was airborne. The initial fear was replaced by a sense of exhilaration. The world below seemed miniature, and the sky was a canvas of endless possibilities.

Epiphany in the Sky

The feeling of floating in the air, detached from the world, was an enlightening experience. It was a moment of epiphany where I realized that life is about pushing your boundaries and overcoming fears. The view from the top was breathtaking, and for the first time, I experienced a sense of liberation that I had never felt before. The world, with all its problems, seemed trivial from such great heights. It was a stark reminder of how small we are in this vast universe and how our worries are just a speck in the grand scheme of things.

As my feet touched the ground, I was a different person. The unforgettable day had changed my outlook on life. It taught me that fears are just mental blocks that hold us back from experiencing the true essence of life. The day also reminded me of the importance of living in the moment. The memory of soaring high in the sky, feeling the cool breeze against my face, and witnessing the world from a bird’s eye view is still fresh in my mind. It was indeed an unforgettable day, a day that taught me to live fearlessly and embrace life with open arms.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

‘Summer House’ star Carl Radke: Watching myself on reality TV helped me get sober

Bravo's "BravoCon 2023" - Day 1 Arrivals

I don’t think I realized I had a problem with drugs and alcohol until the early seasons of “Summer House,” just watching myself back. My co-star Kyle Cooke says this a lot, and I think he’s spot on: “Being on this show forces you to have tough conversations with yourself and with other people.” It’s that reflection in the mirror I had to answer to.

The COVID-19 pandemic was a pivotal moment for me. In 2019, I had a really rough year. I was partying a lot and not in a great place, mentally. When the pandemic happened, it forced me to isolate, and I had to reflect. I decided at that point that I really needed to figure this out. I was sober for a few months, then I moderated — I thought I could just drink Loverboy (Cooke’s brand of canned cocktails that I’m affiliated with) or a few beers. Then, tragically, my brother passed away . I got the phone call the next morning when we were filming. He overdosed. Heroin sadly took his life and has taken a lot of people’s lives in the Pittsburgh area, where I’m from.

My brother suffered from mental illness and addiction issues that crafted a huge rift in our family. At the same time, I was also struggling privately. I went back to old Carl — drinking and using a lot of cocaine, which led to spiraling out of control.

I continued down the spiral until I had what I would describe as my rock-bottom moment. On Jan. 6, 2021, I started drinking and doing some work at home. I put on CNN and was watching everything going on at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. , that day. It was incredibly upsetting — not that that was an excuse. I continued to drink and use cocaine by myself at home, so much so that I don’t really remember what happened, but I scared a lot of people. I came out of that the next day and had a kind of epiphany: I couldn’t live like that anymore. It was killing me mentally, physically, emotionally, financially. I was powerless. I couldn’t do it on my own. I realized I had to get a sponsor and start going to meetings and really fall on my knees and admit that I had an alcohol and cocaine problem.

I couldn't live like that anymore. (Addiction) was killing me mentally, physically, emotionally, financially. I was powerless. I couldn't do it on my own.

Sharing and releasing this monumental discovery about myself disarmed it in a way and allowed me to be really honest. To me, sobriety means having brutal honesty. I wasn’t always honest about that. A few years ago, I would have said I was just into alcohol. But cocaine is a big part of my story, too.

I started to date probably six months after getting sober. The advice is that you should wait a year, but I did not. A lot of change happens in that first year of sobriety — physically, mentally, and emotionally. I was having feelings for someone I had a real friendship with. I can’t change what happened, but I definitely learned from that. It’s a good tip, but everyone is on their own journey. Watching my ex (and “Summer House” co-star), Lindsay Hubbard , question my sobriety in the current season has been uncomfortable. We were having a difficult moment. You’ll see more of how that plays out during the season.

People say, “How are you involved in a show where there’s a lot of drinking?” And my response is, “If I were drinking, I wouldn’t be there.” I do believe that if I were not on reality TV, if I didn’t have that footage and that mirror into my life, I wouldn’t have gotten sober.

I’ve been afforded an amazing opportunity with an amazing group of friends. You can still have a good time without getting blackout. You can still have fun without alcohol, and I’m proud to show that. I like being social. A lot of times, my social-ness with alcohol was embarrassing, cringey, aggressive, weird; not my best version. So, I’ve really enjoyed actually showing up to situations and events and conversations as myself. I’m more myself than I’ve ever been on this program, and I think people are more interested in seeing that than seeing someone masking themselves with alcohol and drugs.

I’m more myself than I’ve ever been on this program, and I think people are more interested in seeing that than seeing someone masking themselves with alcohol and drugs.

Today, I’m 38 months sober. It’s a constant journey. What has worked for me personally is having a sponsor and finding sober people I can relate to. I learn from others —  Bradley Cooper , Michael Phelps , Kevin Love . Hearing those men share their stories about sobriety and mental health helped me, so I thought maybe if I could share mine, I could help someone else. I know I’ve made an impact — it’s still kind of crazy that I have. I’m not a doctor. I’m not a therapist. I’m just some random guy on a reality TV show.

I’ve talked to people who say, “I’m having a hard time staying sober.” I ask them, “Have you gone to a meeting? Do you tell your close friends you have a problem?” And they say “no.” Well, there’s your answer. It’s scary. It’s hard. I understand that. Saying you’re an alcoholic doesn’t mean you’re a bad person. It’s actually a sign of strength and courage that you’re willing to look within and be honest about what’s happening. It works, but it takes work.

I don’t know how I ever would have stayed sober had I not had a sponsor, had I not connected with other sober people, had I not read books about sobriety, had I not done the work on my internal self. Why do I drink? Why am I angry? Why am I sad? I had to face that. And I don’t think many people are willing to face that. They’ll stop drinking, but then they’ll drink again because they don’t want to face that stuff.

It’s all about one day at a time. I wake up every morning, and I typically attend a meeting. I meditate. I say a mantra, and I remind myself: Don’t drink today. And that’s what works for me.

As told to Rheana Murray. This interview has been edited and condensed.

Carl Radke is a reality TV star on Bravo's "Summer House," an entrepreneur and a sober-living advocate.
