KTU  Programming In Python  CSL 362 is an S6 CSE Elective course 2019 scheme course. The course's goal is to teach students how to use Python to create multi-module software solutions for real-world computational challenges. The Python programming environment, grammar, data representations, intermediate level features, GUI programming, Object Oriented Programming, and data processing are all covered in this course.

This course lays the foundation to develop modular software solutions including complex interactive applications, network applications, and data-driven intelligent applications. Programming Environment and Python Basics

Getting started with Python programming – Interactive shell, IDLE, iPython Notebooks, Detecting and correcting syntax errors, How Python works. The software development process – A case study. Basic coding skills – strings, assignment, and comments, Numeric data types and character sets, Expressions, Using inbuilt functions and modules. Control statements – Iteration with for/while loop, Formatting text for output, A case study, Selection structure (if-else, switch-case), Conditional iteration with while, A case study, Testing control statements, Lazy evaluation.

Dictionaries - Dictionary functions, dictionary literals, adding and removing keys, accessing and replacing values, traversing dictionaries, reverse lookup. Case Study – Data Structure Selection.

Introduction to Computing and Problem Solving is a subject offered at KTU, Kerala, which is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts of computing and problem-solving techniques. The subject is divided into six modules, each covering a different aspect of computing and problem-solving. The modules include Module 1: Introduction to Computing and Problem Solving, Module 2: Programming in C, Module 3: Data Structures and Algorithms, Module 4: Computer Organization and Architecture, Module 5: Operating Systems, and Module 6: Computer Networks. In Module 1, students are introduced to the basic concepts of computing and problem-solving, including the history of computing, the role of algorithms in problem-solving, and the importance of abstraction and modularity. Module 2 focuses on programming in C, covering topics such as data types, control structures, functions, arrays, and pointers. In Module 3, students learn about data structures and algorithms, including linked lists, stacks, queues, trees, and sorting algorithms.
