Job Description and Duties

The Research Data Specialist III (RDS III) will determine the scope and parameters of research criteria and perform the more complex research and data analysis projects for the Medi-Cal program, specifically to the Program Data Reporting Division (PDRD), Managed Care Data Support Section and the Managed Care Health Reporting Section. The RDS III will serve as a top expert with programs and data systems to develop measurement specifications and reporting processes. Additionally, the RDS III will serve as a lead for highly complex, research and data quality projects. The incumbent must demonstrate strong analytic, statistical, data governance, organizational, and communication skills and be able to use Statistical Analysis Software (SAS), Structured Query Language (SQL), or other statistical/business intelligence software.

Working Conditions

The PDRD is located in midtown Sacramento, close to many fine shops, fine dining, the Sacramento Convention Center, and the Golden One Center. We offer flexible work schedules, including telework, and opportunities for advancement while working on cutting edge projects regarding information and data gathering, analysis, management, and dissemination. PDRD will consider qualified applicants throughout the State who are interested in this position. Telework is based on operational needs for employees who can perform their essential functions remotely and/or whose duties are conducive to teleworking per DHCS’ Telework Policy and in accordance with Government Code Sections 14200 – 14203 for employees residing in California.
