The importance of Internet in Students Life

speech on internet in student life

Internet is a huge system of interconnected computer networks globally, that connect in a way, to form a network that could be used to access through a stream of “an information superhighway” over the web. The concept of the internet almost came around in existence in 1969 and since that day, it has changed the perspective of living. Because of technological advancements, the internet has no doubt revolutionized our lives by playing a vital role in almost everything that is a part of our daily monotonous routine. Due to the prevailing circumstances, if we could have a glimpse of the dynamics of educational scenarios around the world, then we reach the outcome that it has been changed drastically. Other than providing a source of communication, interactive social media websites, gaming platforms, online banking, eCommerce, e-learning forums, online libraries, accessibility to a wide variety of specialized courses, and whatnot, it has considerably changed the essence of students’ life all across the world. Being in the 21 st century, the internet facility is accessible to huge masses, thus modernizing the global infrastructure of learning among the students.

Nowadays, Internet providers launch the cheapest internet bundles especially for students to facilitate their e-learning. Regarding that, I have checked the cheapest and reasonable internet packages over the internet and found Spectrum internet plans to be the most suitable ones. The following mentioned points in this article will get us into a brief analysis of the role of the internet in a student’s life.

speech on internet in student life

Changing Global Infrastructure Methods of Learning:

Due to the vast accessibility of the internet to huge masses worldwide, there have been quite adaptive trends in the market lately, which have been followed in the past decade by the higher educational institutes. Most of the administrative work of higher educational institutes are being done online to instruct students like facilitating them to submit their dues online via student’s official accounts, updating student’s records on official campus websites, access to off-campus online libraries, online assignments, and quizzes.

And, now because of the pandemic, flexible learning arrangements have been organized globally to encourage students towards distant learning other than that of traditional face to face learning platforms, as every campus is bound to follow the SOP’s, launched by the World Health Organization (WHO). Other than that, online exams have been scheduled for the graduating batches of 2020, so that they could start their professional lives without any further delay. So, for students to attend online scheduled classes on zoom or google meets, or at any other learning management system, they need a high speed working internet.

Virtual Classrooms:

Most of the well-reputed international universities and colleges like Harvard, Yale, and Standford launch their short courses or specialized sets of modules of their courses online on various websites. These courses have a launch date, and before the start, the students living in the different remote areas of the world can register themselves either free or may be paid, following by the commencement of online virtual classes. The delivery of consistent high-quality education is ensured in a timely manner by the instructors that record online lectures in their time zones. Moreover, Instructors guide the students throughout the courses and answer their queries related to the subject. So, by just having a good reliable internet connection, students can set their resumes game up by adding a list of courses they studied online.

Socializing:

Social media platforms provide a source of interaction for students to share their ideas, thoughts, and sentiments on any topic and feel connected. They can form groups, forums, and virtual classes; where due assignments or projects can be completed with mutual efforts. It is a new way of mingling and staying connected during holiday breaks as well.

Research Work:

Nowadays, students are assigned projects that require some research work and because every campus does not stock up every related book to the course, students find it more convenient and yet simple to search thoroughly over the internet to inquire more about different topics and get the relevant and authentic information. Moreover, the internet gives you an uncountable piece of information to learn new things around the world, to get to know about the latest research in any field of subject and what not. Students can have access to different reference books and encyclopedias to let them determine their learning career routes.

Online Jobs:

University students can finance their studies by doing online jobs as well. There are various remote job search platforms where employers post jobs or online projects that need to be outsourced. Humanities students often combine distance work with their studies. These days, because of the pandemic, it is available to every student. They can write theses, essays or work for organizations such as a  cheappaperwriting company . Through the internet, the students can apply for these online jobs in their relevant field of interest and can get paid.

Conclusion:

No doubt, the Internet has quite significant patterns of uses for seeking education and authentic information as discussed in this article. Though, the modern world requires modern solutions for the perplexing situations that the students face when learning from traditional face to face learning platforms. In need of that, now there is a source of an uncountable piece of information through different reference books and encyclopedias available and easily accessible to students to thoroughly guide them.

Even the higher educational institutes all over the globe are now more adaptive towards virtual classrooms, where all the educational resources and relevant books are readily available to students. But, parents need to be conscious and should keep an eye on their children, so that they might not misuse it for entertainment or spending free time on social media.

Speech on Internet for Students & Children in English [3 Minutes]

December 10, 2020 by Sandeep

Speech on Internet: Internet is one of the smartest revolutionary inventions of mankind. It has broken distance barriers and made the world a small place to live in. With the internet, we can access any information at our fingertips at lightning speeds. We require computers/ laptops/ smartphones to access the internet easily. 4G technologies have made internet access super paced and very fast. Robert E Kahn and Vincent Cerf invented the internet. Internet is used for learning, shopping, banking, booking tickets, etc.

Speech on Internet 500 Words In English

Below we have provided a speech on Internet, written in easy and simple words for class 7, 8, 9 and 10 school students.

Good morning to everyone present over here. Today I am here to deliver my speech on the internet. John Stewart has rightly said that “ The internet is just a world passing notes around a classroom.”

The internet has brought the world too close today; the physical distance is no more a real distance between anyone. The internet has made our lives easy & comfortable. Most advances in technologies are attributed to the internet in today’s world. It is one of the most significant inventions which has completely changed the way we live.

Internet is a network facility which helps in sharing information. It was invented 40 years back by Robert E. Kahn and Vint Cerf for sending emails. It has transformed a lot in last with time. We all use internet today, let it be on our mobile phones, computers or laptops for different purposes. Many of us may be using it for office work, learning, some for shopping, playing & many more.

Restaurants, malls, transportation, and banking everywhere the internet is playing a significant role. It is an excellent source of knowledge & valuable resources for learning. The primary entertainment sources for today’s world is internet. Let it be music, song, dance, series or movie everything is available just a click away. We can connect to our loved ones, a thousand kilometres away just by doing a video call. For many internet has become the source of income, people have started earning by writing blogs, etc. The usage of internet is uncountable.

Though internet is an excellent servant, it does have some ill effects. Misuse of information & fraud is increasing day by day. Cybercrimes have become a significant concern which is getting monitored closely. The influence of social media is so hyped among people that people are ready to do anything for getting famous. People are unnecessarily spending time which has created problems in their social lives. Believing internet blindly has become a common practice which has resulted in the circulation of fake news.

We all cannot deny that the internet has become a part of our life. It is not easy to spend a day without the internet. So we all need to maintain the balance between the positive & negative impacts of the internet. Judicious use with proper precautions will prove the internet to be a boon for humanity. Let us join hands & pledge to use the greatest invention of time for transforming the world in the right way.

Short Speech on Internet 150 Words

Find below a short speech on the Internet in English, suitable for class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 students.

A very welcome to all of you to the session of discussion on the internet. Internet is not new to anyone us. It was invented 40 years back by Robert E. Kahn and Vint Cerf with its very first use in the United States to send emails. Today there are 3.5 billion users in the world & you are one of them. Talking about the usage of the internet, it has left no fields untouched. Today we can book our travelling tickets online; we need not make a queue. We can shop sitting at home from a variety of options; we need not step out to market.

We can also take the consultation of doctors, which is just a click away. We do not wait anymore to meet our near & dear ones; we connect to them through video calls. Getting bored need not wait for a TV program; we have plenty of options available online. Even today, people are searching for their soulmates on the internet. Even students are nowadays dependent only on online sources for learning. Not only these, internet has completely transformed the life we once lived in. You all will agree that it has made our life simpler & more comfortable for us.

However, we all know that a coin has two sides, one good & bad. Till now, I only highlighted the best part of the internet. Let me tell you the internet can have numerous negative impacts if we do not use it cautiously. The illegal works, fraud or we can say cyber crimes are increasing day by day. People are wasting time on internet instead of using the valuable time. People have started living virtual life with no understanding of the world outside. Children are spending more time playing online games instead of any physical activities.

All these issues are leading us to a bigger problem. We all being aware of the pros & cons of usage of the internet and must be alert enough to use it in the right way. It is one of the greatest inventions of humanity which can be solely used for the development of the people globally. So let us join our hands & work together in that direction to use the internet for the useful transformations only.

Long Speech on the Internet

A heartfelt welcome to all of you present. I want to take this opportunity and share a few thoughts with you about the internet.

The ushering of the 21st century has brought about a host of changes, the advent of the internet being one of them. To put it in simpler terms, the internet is a virtual network that allows connections on a global scale by means of the world wide web. The internet has ushered in an era of revolution allowing fast connectivity and a whirlpool of resources and information at one’s disposal. The internet has, in true meaning, made the world smaller on a global scale.

As the new millennium progressed, the internet became an indispensable tool. The ease of finding information, the ability to connect instantly became so ingrained in people that imagining a life without the internet seems nearly impossible these days. The internet has brought about many benefits. With a boom in the technological sector, it has created a host of jobs in various fields. Work which in the pre-internet era would require a significant amount of time could be done within a matter of hours. People nowadays no longer have to wait for days or months to be able to communicate with someone. Facilities such as banking, financial transactions, purchasing, have all been made streamlined owing to the internet.

As seen in recent years, the educational sector has also witnessed a major shift, be it the availability of resources or in delivering information, all due to the use of the internet. The vast repository of information available on the internet has enabled the development of quicker and more efficient learning modules and outcomes. Online learning has become the new norm these days. Moreover, the use of the internet has allowed for a more holistic approach to learning with learners now able to audio-visualize as they gather new knowledge and information. The internet, in short, has become a new learning tool.

We must, however, be aware of the fact that with its many advantages, the internet has also brought about a host of disadvantages. The personal information out there on the internet always remains at the risk of falling into the wrong hands. Cybercrimes are a common occurrence these days, ranging from the hacking of personal records for harming someone in particular to the commitment of major banking frauds.

In my concluding remarks, I would like to say that the internet has become both the boon and bane of our existence. To quote, ‘the internet is a necessary evil’. So it is up to us how we make the most out of it all, ensuring that no other individual is adversely affected because of the same. It also remains our responsibility to safeguard our information to the maximum extent possible and prevent it from being misused in any way. As we make significant strides in the advancement of civilization, it is important that we make use of the internet for the betterment of society as a whole.

Short Speech

Speech on the internet.

A warm welcome to all the esteemed ladies and gentlemen. I would like to share a few words on the topic of the internet.

The Internet has become the grain of our existence in the modern-day world. From studies to pharmaceuticals, to groceries to banking, we have the privilege of having the entire world at our fingertips, thanks to the internet. People across the globe are connected today by means of what is known as the world wide web, or popularly, the internet. Gone are the days when people had to wait for hours, weeks or even months to hear from their beloved ones. With the advent of the internet, we can now connect to someone within a matter of minutes.

The era of the internet ushered in with the dawn of the new millennium. What started with the big metropolitan cities, is not available in even the remotest villages. The internet has brought about a revolution in several industrial sectors. In recent years, the education industry also saw a major shift owing to the prevalence of the internet. However, with everything good going on, the usage of the internet has also brought along the ill effects. Practices such as cybercrimes, online fraudulent activity, hacking, etc. are on the rise. Such has been the extent of the ill-effects of the internet that people had to lose their lives as well.

So, as we move forward with the use of the internet in our day-to-day lives, we must make sure to remain vigilant and safe in order to not fall prey or indulge in any sort of harmful practices. The Internet can prove to be a great boon if used judiciously.

10 Lines Speech

Hello to everyone present. Today, I am going to present a speech on the internet.

The internet, as we all know, is a vast network that connects people across the world. The Internet allows us to have a wide range of information on any topic with just a simple click. In addition to information, the internet also helps us to communicate with people across the world. The internet serves as the connecting point for millions of devices by means of the world wide web. The Internet has proven to be very beneficial in our daily lives. Be it obtaining knowledge or information, purchasing commodities, or making payments, everything has become much simpler with the internet. However, there are also various ill-effects of the internet taking place by means of online fraud, loss of personal information, etc.

To conclude, I would like to say that the internet has both its advantages and disadvantages. It is up to us to make the best of it and use it wisely.

Hello everyone.

Today I am here to present my views on the internet. The Internet today has become a necessity. Only a few years ago, it was a luxury only a few could afford. But with the development of technology, the internet has been made accessible and feasible to everyone in society. With the worldwide web(WWW) being its biggest service, it is now connecting millions of people all over the world. The Internet is one of the crucial inventions of humankind. The development of the internet has led to recent media replacing traditional newspapers and journalism. It has led to instant messaging and video communication replacing postcards and manually written letters.

Traditional cinema has been replaced by OTT platforms serving entertainment at the comfort of one’s house. The Internet has replaced offline stores as well. With all the development that has happened over the years due to the invention of the internet, One cannot simply assume that there are no ill effects of it.

The whole world is connected via the internet. It is a good thing, it also means that quality time with friends and family in person holds less value, and there is no escape from work.

The Internet is addictive, and if there are no proper boundaries for using it, It can cause ill effects on the human mind as well as other areas of life. Lack of sleep is a common problem seen in students today. Social media and the rise of video platforms like youtube have only made it difficult to restrict the use of the internet.

I do want to shed some light on the advantages of the internet. The internet is by far the most amazing invention.

Overflow of Information

The Internet is the sea of abundant information. The information that has been searched for is just one google search away. There is a tonne of resources available for anything that is needed. Be it any query or a recipe or a course of photography, one can always find a solution to the internet.

Education for All

In the era of online learning, not only are the students benefited by the internet, but also the people who do not have the time to attend classes in person. So many housewives have turned to their hobbies by joining online classes, The students can now get viable information on any subject by surfing the internet. The Internet comes in handy when one needs to know things fast, and now. Education is accessible for all now and this is the boon of the internet. Teachers can teach via online portals no matter where they are in the world. They can also upload pre-recorded videos online so that the students can watch them at their convenience. One can learn any skill they wish to learn and the internet has at least one or two resources or courses regarding the same.

Online Services

With the online world dominating the internet, Every domain has come under the influence of it, even the services industry as well. With just one click one can order restaurant-cooked food, buy new clothes and book a spa appointment, and also consult a doctor. This convenience provided by the internet has helped humans do more things and not waste time. The best examples include Flipkart, Amazon, and Zomato. Buying and ordering things online has become easy and accessible to all. Even emails can be delivered with just one click, and money transfers can be done on the computers and one need not visit the bank for it.

Social Media

The one thing that has to be highlighted while talking about the internet is the importance of social media.

Social media’s rapid growth has made us feel connected. We are just one click away from talking to the person staying across the globe. Platforms like Youtube, Instagram, Facebook let you share your story, and ideas over the internet free of cost. They bring forth the creativity of humans.

Online Business

The trend of online businesses is not just a trend anymore, they are replacing the traditional business run from the brick and mortar stores. Every business right now has a website and an online store. It is so convenient to market the business when it has a social media presence. The business can make a name globally and reach more target audiences, and this will in turn help in making profits.

The internet has a lot of advantages and disadvantages. Although, it is upon the user to be cautious, to not overindulge on the internet. For everything is turned into a disadvantage when not done with precautions. Setting healthy boundaries around the usage of the internet can be super beneficial in the long term.

Nobody among us is unfamiliar with the Internet. It was invented 40 years ago by Robert E. Kahn and Vint Cerf and was initially used to send emails in the United States. Today, the world has 3.5 billion users, and you are one of them. When it comes to internet usage, it has yet to be explored.

How Internet Has Changed The World

We can now book our trip tickets online, eliminating the need to stand in line. We can shop from many possibilities while sitting at home; we don't need to go to the market. We can also seek doctors' advice, who are only a click away. Even students nowadays rely only on online resources to learn. Not only that, but the Internet has entirely revolutionised the way we used to live. You will all agree that it has made our lives easier and more comfortable.

We all know, however, that a coin has two sides, one good and one terrible. Illegal activities, fraud, and cybercrime are expanding daily. People are spending time on the Internet rather than using it productively. People have begun to live a virtual life without awareness of the real world. Children spend more time playing online games than participating in physical activities.

The Internet is one of humanity's greatest inventions that can be used for the global development of humankind.

Long Speech On the Internet

The Internet has connected the world and that distance between people is no longer an issue. The Internet is one of the most important aspects of technological progress occurring all around the world. It is transforming how people work, educate themselves, travel, and entertain themselves, and it is easily accessible to many people.

The Internet's function is to connect two or more gadget screens that may communicate via signals, allowing information to be transmitted through this medium. The Internet was initially used forty years ago in the United States of America. Robert E. Kahn and Vint Cerf created the Internet. Initially, the Internet was used to send emails between two computers, but it has already successfully touched every corner of the globe.

Advantages Of Internet

The Internet has numerous benefits and has proven to be a valuable contribution to humankind's technological advancement.

It allows users to connect with their relatives even if they are far away, and you can instantly connect with them via chats, video conferencing, and emails.

It allows users to collect various types of information and offers moving services such as watching movies, playing games, and listening to music.

Online banking, airline ticket booking, shopping, and other services are among the benefits of the Internet.

Disadvantages Of Internet

The use of the Internet for fraud and illicit purposes is rising daily.

The rate of cybercrime is rapidly increasing, eroding people's trust in the Internet, primarily due to the misuse of the Internet.

People attack others on social networking sites based on caste, colour, race, attractiveness, etc. One concern parents encounter is their children being addicted to computer gaming, avoiding schoolwork, and avoiding outside activities.

How To Be Careful Over The Internet

The Internet plays an essential role in people's daily lives, and it is nearly impossible for us to go a day without it. So, even though we know the Internet's detrimental effects, we cannot avoid it. So, we can set a time limit for its use, primarily for minors.

Parents and teachers must monitor and guide children on proper Internet usage. Educating and alerting people about online fraud and cybercrime is part of our responsibilities, and there are severe repercussions for internet fraud. As a result, with adequate understanding and prudence, the Internet can be a blessing to human society's growth.

Around 2006, I was 5, and my mum showed me Google for the first time. She connected to the Internet and demonstrated what Google is. I was delighted and enthusiastic about the unlimited possibilities, but Google didn't have any "Did you mean" tabs back then, and my spelling was terrible, so I had to ask my mother to search for me. I recall the first thing I asked my Mom to Google was "How are Diamonds formed?" and forcing her to read it to me. That was my first experience when I encountered the Internet.

Long and Short Speech on Internet

Speech on internet – sample 1.

Warm Greetings Ladies and Gentleman!

As you know that today’s seminar is conducted to discuss various aspects of internet – the benefits and loss it entails. I, as the host of today’s seminar, welcome you all to this event and sincerely hope to make this seminar a fruitful one for everyone present here by our active participation. However, before we initiate the discuss round, I would like to deliver a brief speech on internet so as to warm up the session for my audience and in the hope to add up to your existing knowledge.

The definition of internet is not same for everyone and entails different meanings for different people. It is mainly because of the fact that it offers a range of applications along with multitudinous opportunities for trade & commerce. In other words, internet is an acronym for the internetwork system, i.e. a network of computers.

Did you know that it is in the year 1969 that the US Defence Department with the help of their Advanced Research Project Agency also called as ARPA developed a system of computer networks through the use of telephone lines and called it ARPANet, which means the seed of internet? The ARPANet enabled the officials to access various military personnel and academicians using their sites situated at multiple places.

Then, with the gradual development in networking technology and the ease of access to a range of information on the ARPANet, the officials connected more and more computers to the source. This way a significant bare minimum mass for the internet was achieved. In the year 1990, ARPANet was brought to an end and the internet itself emerged as the most powerful and overwhelming force for communication to reckon with.

Also, let me share with you a few more basic facts about internet. The architecture of internet consists of 3 basic layers, viz. Internet Backbone, Providers of Internet Service and lastly the end user. The Internet backbones are considered networks with a really high speed connected with each other and he providers of internet services are linked to any of the backbone having transfer lines with a high speed data. The end user more often reaches out to the internet service provider in order to access the internet.

This goes without saying that internet has made everything so easy for us and we can do various things at the same time while being at one place, i.e. right from paying bills to buying merchandizes to finding jobs, etc. It surely saves our lot of time and efforts and enables us to direct our energy in some other work.

Having said that, I would also like to mention that whereas on one hand internet has various advantages to offer, it on the other hand has a major loophole too, i.e. it impacts our health quite a lot. As one continues to work on it every day and there is hardly any physical activity – your body starts breeding diseases thereby affecting your quality of life.

I hope my speech will help you in strengthening your view points and widening your perspectives. Now, you as an audience are requested to put forth your opinion and initiate the discussion phase.

Speech on Internet –Sample 2

Hon’ble Principal, Vice Principal, My Fellow Colleagues and Dear Students – Good Morning all!

As morning assembly has come to a close, our managing committee has decided to select a topic every alternate day and deliver a speech on the same so that our students can become socially more aware and sound. So today the speech topic that has been chosen is Internet and I, your sociology teacher, is going to deliver a speech on the same. Hope you will find it useful and enlightening and you can even question or express your opinion too unhesitatingly in the end.

To begin with, I would like say that internet has evolved as a large-scale system of interconnected network of computers, which utilizes the usual Internet protocol suite (also called as TCP/IP even though not every application makes use of TCP) in order to serve the needs of billions of people globally. It is a wide web of network that comprises millions of public, private, business, academic as well as government networks starting from local to a global platform being connected with a wide array of wireless, electronic and optical networking technologies. No doubt, on internet you can search for an extensive array of information resources as well as services, like the inter-connected hypertext pages on the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to maintain email accounts.

As internet has become relatively economical and is of course fast – it is providing significant benefits to the organizations and the students across the world as having an internet connection is quite easy these days. The two most important uses of internet are information and communication. Information can be modified or updated at any point in time and as much as possible, which opens up the scope of better learning and understanding for the masses.

However, unfortunately the today’s generation especially our students have become so addicted to this technology that they are diverting from their educational goals. Whole day chatting with friends, internet surfing, browsing occupies their time and in the end they hardly have any time left for their studies. Even worst, this habit makes them irregular with their studies and they lose their capacity to lead an organized life, due to which the falling grades of those students can be observed. After conducting the research and study about the way students consume internet data and use social networking sites, the experts have opined that the results are certainly not favorable.

Social networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc have become the major roadblocks in the way of students’ educational goals. One of the serious drawbacks of this technology is that there is no method to curb it once a student has come to a university level of studies. But schools can still play a major role in guiding the students and helping them realize their value of time and time management skills.

On the flip side, the internet is vast reservoir of information and thus can be used by the students for completing their projects and assignments. On internet, one can certainly find all the possible information or knowledge known to humanity. So easily browse through the internet for the required information and study them whenever the need arises.

Towards the end, I want to say that technology becomes a boon, if used rightfully or else destroy the humanity if used the other way. So make the best use of it and reap the fruits of its benefits.

Now, children you can raise your hands and share your thoughts with us one by one.

Internet is one of the biggest needs of our today’s lifestyle. The internet is a system of sets of computer networks that communicates using internet protocol (IP) and that use Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) to identify the best path to route those communication.

The beginning of the transition to the modern Internet and generated rapid growth as institutional, personal, and mobile computers were connected to the network from the early 1990s. By the late 2000s, the services of the internet had been blended into almost every part of our life. The traditional communication networks and media such as newspapers, paper mail, television etc are getting redefined and replaced by new technologies such as email, digital newspapers, online music, etc.

Print publishing are getting converted into blogging, web feeds and online news aggregators through the adaptation of website technology. There are many new forms of personal interactions by instant messaging, internet forums and social networking websites. The trend of online shopping has grown significantly due to widened range and convenience. Business and financial services on the internet helps in spreading chains among the entire industries around the world.

World-Wide-Web (WWW) is its biggest services. It is used by billions of people all around the world. The software of WWW (World Wide Web) such as Microsoft’s internet explorer/ edge, Mozilla fire fox, opera, apple’s safari and Google chrome provides users the facility to navigate from one web page to another via hyperlinks embedded in the documents. The WWW (World Wide Web) has decentralized the information on an enormous level.

With many advantages, internet has some of its disadvantages also. The internet can be dangerous in some aspects. Sometimes, people use it to spread rumors or other people’s secrets or dangerously bad advice. Sometimes, other strange people can also read your information if it is send through the internet. For instance, Facebook has some problems with its privacy settings. A person can post anything on a website, but this could be a bad idea unless the person is very sure of what he is doing. There is a way to check for a secure website is to make sure that the URL starts with https:// instead of https://. This means that it is secured and other people cannot read the information while it is being sent. In the end it is in our hands whether to use internet in a positive manner or in a negative manner.

At this end, I would like to conclude my speech and I hope that it will help you to understand the different aspects of the internet.

Thank you and I wish you all a great day ahead!

Speech on Internet – Sample 4

Respected Principal, Respected Teachers and My Dear Friends!

I am Nandani of XII standard and I am here today in front of you to deliver a speech on Internet as this assembly is organized for the purpose of spreading awareness among young generation about internet. Internet has become an important part of our today’s life and especially for the young generation. The biggest world-wide communication network today is the internet. The internet is the global system of the set of computer networks that communicate using the internet protocol (IP).

The internet was developed by the “United States Department of Defence Advance Research Projects Agency” (DARPA) which is in the United States. The first ever connection was known as the ARPANET and it was connected on October 1969. The most popular service of the internet is the World Wide Web (WWW) and it was created at CERN in Switzerland in 1990 by a British (UK) man named Tim Berners-Lee. The World Wide Web is the most used service on the internet and it is also known as the “Web”. It contains websites that includes blogs and wikis in it. Everybody can read these web pages and it can be seen by anyone on the internet unless it requires a password.

The internet has no centralized government itself for the technological implementation or for the access and usage. Each and every authorized network has to set its own policy.

In today’s world, internet is used for many purposes such as for sending electronic mails, online chat through many applications, to transfer file from one device to another and we can find infinite information on infinite topics. The most biggest and important use of internet is to send and receive e-mails. E-mail is secure and private and it goes from one user to another. Instant messaging applications or websites such as AIM or ICQ allows more than two people for chat to each other and it is much faster.

Many governments around the world have a bad thinking for internet and thus, block all or a part of it. For instance, the government of the China thinks that Wikipedia is not good and thus many times in this country people cannot read or add something to it. Sometimes, parents block some parts of the internet which are not good for their children to see. Many devices or mostly devices contain a parental control system in it. Many countries have blocked the whole internet usage such as in North Korea and Myanmar.

Some websites are designed to fool people for downloading device damaging viruses or may contain the system through which someone could spy. E-mail can also be dangerous as someone could send harmful viruses etc through an attachment. Many stalkers use internet chat rooms to prey on others. On the internet many websites contains some contents that are might be offensive for many users. Sometimes, on the internet, people got tricked by many fraud people to send them money or personal data.

It just need awareness and a little knowledge to surf safely on internet and we should use it wisely.

On this note, I would like to conclude my speech and hope that it will provide you a clear vision about internet.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Impact of Internet on Students’ Life

The internet’s effects on students lives: essay introduction, positive impact of internet on students’ life, negative impact of internet on students’ life, the internet’s effects on students lives: essay conclusion.

Technology, particularly the Internet, has changed the lives of students who have access in various ways. The effects of technology ripple out and reach even those students who may not have direct access to Internet but whose professors have the privilege of accessing and utilizing it.

Students with direct access to the Internet have wider access to information and knowledge, which is essential for their career development. Such instantaneous access to the Internet aids research and facilitates faster knowledge acquisition, development, and even sharing. Such a privilege puts students ahead of those who do not have access to the Internet whether directly or indirectly.

Technology has condensed the world into a tiny village, or like it has been put elsewhere, the world has become a global village. While there could be enormous geographical distance and difference between a student in Australia and the one in North America, information-wise, the two students are more or less at the same location. Thanks to technology.

So technology has worked to bridge the gap (geographical) between students provided they have equal access and availability of the requisite technological needs. Students on the extreme opposite end of the earth can share and exchange ideas and opinions instantly via online chatting.

The ability to reach a worldwide sample population through technology (Internet), and access to diverse materials on the Internet makes the whole idea of research easier and more fascinating than before. Students carrying out research find it less tedious; for instance, they can conduct an online survey through online questionnaires.

Due to the influence of technology, students have abandoned their careers and opted for a fast-growing and vibrant career in information technology. The popularity it is gaining has compelled and persuaded many students to change their career aspirations and therefore changing their lives.

At the moment, the world is on a mass exodus toward technology, and students can not afford the luxury of sitting back and watch a “neo- evolution” that they are not part of. The world is moving fast, and they have to keep pace. They have to be “there” if they want to remain relevant anymore.

Online jobs, for instance, data entry jobs, have provided students with the option of working from their rooms while they study so as to earn some money to support themselves. All a student needs is a computer connected to the Internet and his head!

Technology (Internet) has made it possible for students to shop online without having to travel to the actual stores. They can shop from whichever corner of the world. Again students are able to order for educational materials online instantly, a process that would be more tedious without technology.

Learning has been rendered a flexible undertaking. Professor of English, Andrea Lunsford, said: “the Wallberg hall classrooms allow us to carry out multiple modes of collaborations in class and allow students to continue those collaborations at other sites including their dorm room.”

Technology enables students to adjust the learning environment to suit their needs in the Wallberg Hall of Stanford University. Isn’t this fascinating? This evidences the new face technology is giving to learning as a process.

Students are also relieved of the burden of having to carry a whole bulk of learning materials, inter alia, books, and articles. These materials can be stored in small devices, for instance, a flash disk from where the students can retrieve the information at whatever time they wish. Maybe the era of students carrying a heavy bag on their back to school is slowly fading away.

The idea of not having the relevant manpower is not much of a worry in learning institutions today. Technology makes it possible for students in America to attend a lecture in Australia! They do not participate as passive but rather as active participants.

I am sure to our great ancestors this could be an all-time impossibility. Put simply, Unimaginable! But today? Not a surprise anymore. Through E-Learning, one can earn their degree online while on a job or at home. Technology has provided students with more options for how to do things.

The possibilities of technology are inexhaustible. Maybe this is the same thought that prompted Isaac Asimov to write about a fictional computer called Multivac, which could not answer the question of how the amount of entropy could be massively reduced.

Though Multivac finally gets the answer, sadly, there is no one to hear it. Maybe this is to say that while today some problems may seem insoluble, with time technology will provide answers to them. Asimov catapults us into a future with technological solutions to the toughest human concerns.

Well, all we have considered may be seen as the positive effects of technology. The field is not without negative effects. Technology has worked to change students’ lives negatively. Firstly, it has made some students lazier. Some students, instead of doing research, just download information from the Internet and plagiarize it.

This is retrogressive and does not do the students any good. Again most students are made lazier by the fact that they can mail their assignments to an outsourcing firm and have their work done and returned to them within the stipulated time. This has commercialized education and makes education to lose its succinct meaning.

Technology has a role in students’ moral degradation. Access to such junks as pornography and serious crime movies and literature has eroded student’s morals. They no longer see these things as vices but as part of the day-to-day life. To them, there is nothing wrong with reading and watching such materials.

Unfortunately, they don’t just stop here; they go the extra mile and actually do them. The result is evils are escalating. Maybe this is what Asimov meant by entropy! The question of what will happen when the disorder finally hits the height puzzles many people: the disorder of moral degradation and over-reliance on computers. Man is insidiously losing his identity because of technology.

A major reason for technology’s success is the convenience attached to it. It is more instant, gives wider access to information, and reduces demand for paper and bulk in general. Again the computer is faster and more accurate than human beings.

If there is a means that can help me do the same job at a faster rate and more accurately with actually less effort, why not opt for it? Anyone would be tempted to have a firm grip on such a way of doing things. I would concur with anyone who argues that this is the rationale behind the success of the technology.

Speech on Internet for Students and Children in 900+ Words

Speech on Internet for Students and Children in 900+ Words

In this article, you will read a Speech on Internet for Students and Children in 900+ Words.

Speech on Internet for Students and Children (900+ Words)

A very warm welcome to everyone and present here. Respected principal, teachers, members and my dear friends . I am very thankful for getting this wonderful chance to allow me to deliver a speech on the topic “Internet.” Please have your patience and render your ears to hear me till the end.

The Internet is a group of networks which connect people all over the world. The internet was developed by the United States Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

The first connection was ARPANET, which was connected on October 1,1969. The worldwide Web is the most popular service, which was created in Switzerland in 1990 by Tim Berners Lee.

As we all know that the world is growing rapidly in technology. One of the most advancements of technology is the internet.

The internet has been used worldwide. It helps us in many ways like sending and receiving mails, connecting people from all over the world, getting information from worldwide, getting to know people from everywhere, etc. We use the internet for every small and big scale, and through this we can have the world at our fingertip.

The internet has both negative and positive roles in human life.

  • The advantage is that it helps to connect people from all around and helps to share their feelings like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc.
  • It helps in providing education. It also helps in getting to know more about the things which you do not know.
  • We can also do multitasking things like we can do any project or any assignment, or just listen to the music online.

Nowadays, we find making best use of their study curriculum through the internet tools like the Google classroom.

  • The Internet helps in online shopping through e-commerce sites like Myntra, Snapdeal, Amazon, etc.
  • We can also pay online money, transfer it through paytm, Google Pay, Internet Banking, Phone Pay, PayPal, etc.
  • If someone gets bored, he/she can entertain himself through movies, serials, comedy, and many more through Amazon prime, YouTube, Hotstar, Netflix, etc.
  • One can also watch news online,  and can also go for video calls, chat and talk to them through Google duo.
  • We can book tickets for the bus, train, and aeroplane through online.

Apart from seeing a lot of many helpful effects the internet brings, we are also cursed with a few of its disadvantages too.

It is good to use the internet but the youth are using it more which is wasting their valuable time.

  • Anyone using the Internet can be fooled and hacked.
  • Hacking has become common on Facebook and many other social media.
  • Students are more attached to mobile because of the internet.
  • They study less and waste much of their time on the internet.
  • They are very excited to know new people and interact with them.
  • They also watch online movies, play online games , etc.

Nowadays pubg, freefire, ludo, etc have become top list in playing. Students are very much using the internet. It’s very harmful for the eyes.

Few more disadvantages of Internet are:

  • Addiction and distraction from studies occur in every student’s life.
  • Depression, loneliness, social isolation also occur because of the internet.
  • Anyone can easily fool you, and you can also easily believe anyone.
  • This is very dangerous and can destroy anyone’s life.

I guess we all should be careful while using the internet and should keep all personal and professional information limited so that no one can do anything wrong.

Hackers want to know about you so do not share all your information in social media. There is setting in every phone, both for the web browser and mobile operating systems. Make sure that you have to enable the privacy settings.

I must suggest that before downloading anything from the Web, be sure that  it is safe and no hacking will take place. Choose a strong password so that it will be safe and no one can hack.

Whenever you purchase anything online, you need to provide credit card or bank account information, so be careful as this is what the cyber criminals are most eager to look for. So apply all this information only to the safe and secure sites.

I must say that parents should be very careful in advising their children on the internet. They should teach them both the good and bad of the internet. They should provide mobile to them in need, else the children will be addicted to using the phone and start using it for long hours wasting all their time.

Friends also play a very great role in using the internet. If a child starts using the internet for more than required time, he/she will attract their friends and make them eager to use it. So, everyone should use the Internet and make themselves for limited use over it.

Students should know the benefit of their studies and be serious about it so that they will be less addicted towards mobile and internet. The Internet is very much useful and important for everyone’s life.

Everyone knows how to use it, however they don’t know how much to use, so they should use it less and give more time to themselves and other valuable things or activities.

So by saying all this, I would like to end my speech by thanking everyone for listening to me patiently. Finally, I want to request all not to use the internet in excess, rather than give more time to studies and other social activities. Thank you.

Speech on Internet for Children and Students

March 1, 2018 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

A very Good morning to one and all present over here. Today I will be presenting a speech on “ Internet “.

Before starting, I just want to say that if you don’t agree with me on some points or if you want to add some points feel free to interrupt me.

Today we live in a world that is closer than ever. We are so interconnected and close together that the world today is known as a global village.

However, this would not have been possible without the presence of something that is extremely inevitable in almost any task we do today – the Internet, and this is what I am going to speak about today.

The Internet finds its roots way back in the early sixties when it was being developed as a network of computers to allow scientist to perform data operations and share the results with each other.

Later if more secure form of it was developed by the US military and intelligence department called  Arpanet .

This network was supposed to connect computer to help share real time military information which was sensitive in nature.

However, soon with further development, Dish network head evolved into a huge interconnected system of computers which were used to share files and data all over the world.

The technology used at that time was called file transfer protocol or FTP. However, even at this time the Internet was far from what we know it today.

At that time, it was nearly text information and binary information that could be transferred from one virtual address to the other virtual address.

It was way later in the 90’s that Internet in the way that we know today was developed.

Tim Berners-Lee , a data scientist at Cern , invented a system known as the world wide web, which in the beginning was used to compile and share data after particle accelerator used at Cern in Geneva.

Later this system of world wide web or www as we know today was developed which consisted of media files, music, images as well as text information and also supported interactive services.

In the system of World Wide Web, information was transferred in bits and pieces called packets, and then he joined at the destination.

This system of breaking up data in the form of packets and transmitting them only two can join them at the destination to obtain the real information is known as transmission control protocol or TCP .

The Internet today service far more purposes than just sharing of information. With the advent of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter , the world is coming closer than ever.

Everything under the sun is now on the tip of our fingers. We can get to know any information about anything in the world with just a click of a button.

This not only strengthens the community but also facilities in Rapid news transmission which might help people in situations of emergency.

Also, the Internet is great for education. Being the pool of data that it is, we can search for any sort of information on any subject on the Internet and be completely acquainted with an unknown topic.

The electronic mail system that operates over the Internet is another advantage after many advantages that Internet provides.

Using the electronic main system, we can send a message to anyone in the world present anywhere in the world instantaneously.

The only requirement for an electronic mail system is a working computer with a working Internet connection.

The electronic mail system is also environment friendly and does not require the use of any sort of people medium to carry the message.

It is because of this electronic mail system that today the physical Postal Services are almost out dated.

Just like everything else in life there are certain negative effects that the Internet has on our lives.

Due to its ease of use, many people often use the Internet to threaten or bully other innocent people because it is way easier than to do in real life by sitting and hiding behind screen.

The Internet has brought the world closer than ever but at the same time it has distanced us in a way that cannot be bridged.

Social face to face real life interactions have become much difficult thanks to the advent of an anonymous social media scene.

In today’s world of global corruption Internet is also very easy method of selling and trafficking of illegal Contraband substances like drugs and even weapons.

The major advantage of this is that the Internet does not provide a real identity of an individual but only provides the virtual address of the computer from where it is being operated.

Does this give an easy way for the culprits to hide? Recently it has also surfaced that the Internet is being used to order assassinations.

In spite of all these vices, the Internet is completely inevitable tool of communication and World development.

I can’t root with this, that everything has its advantages and disadvantages and it is only up to us, how we want to use it.

More so than adults, u.s. teens value people feeling safe online over being able to speak freely.

Teens and adults in the United States differ on a key issue tied to online speech and its consequences. A majority of teens ages 13 to 17 say a welcoming, safe online environment is more important than people being able to speak their minds freely online, according to a new Pew Research Center survey. A separate survey of Americans 18 and older shows that adults’ views on the same question are more evenly divided.

A bar chart showing that a majority of U.S. teens say people feeling welcome and safe online is more important than being able to speak freely, while a smaller share of adults say this

Overall, 62% of teens say people being able to feel welcome and safe online is more important than people being able to speak their minds freely online, while 38% hold the opposite view. By comparison, half of adults say a welcoming and safe online environment is more important, while a similar share (47%) put more value on people being able to speak their minds freely online.

Adults ages 18 to 29 differ from their younger teen counterparts on this question. Some 57% of adults in this age group favor the idea that people should be able to speak their minds freely online. Those 65 and older, by contrast, are the only age group whose views are similar to teens’: 58% of these Americans say feeling welcome and safe online is more important.

Pew Research Center conducted these studies to understand teens’ and adults’ views about online speech and the broader online environment. This analysis relies on data from two separate surveys. For the analysis of teens, the Center conducted an online survey of 1,316 U.S. teens from April 14-May 4, 2022, via Ipsos. Ipsos recruited the teens via their parents who were a part of its  KnowledgePanel , a probability-based web panel recruited primarily through national, random sampling of residential addresses. The teen results are weighted to be representative of U.S. teens ages 13 to 17 who live with parents by age, gender, race, ethnicity, household income and other categories. The research was reviewed and approved by an external institutional review board, Advarra, which is an independent committee of experts that specializes in helping to protect the rights of research participants.

For the separate analysis of adults, the Center surveyed 3,581 U.S. adults from March 21-27, 2022. All adults who took part in the survey are members of the Center’s American Trends Panel (ATP), an online survey panel that is recruited through national, random sampling of residential addresses. This way nearly all U.S. adults have a chance of selection. The survey of adults is weighted to be representative of the U.S. adult population by gender, race, ethnicity, partisan affiliation, education and other categories. Read more about the  ATP’s methodology .

Here are  the questions used for the survey of teens, along with its methodology ; and here are the questions used for the survey of adults, and its methodology .

A bar chart showing that about six-in-ten U.S. teens think people take offensive content online too seriously; views of adults under 65 are largely similar

But there is also nuance in people’s views of online speech. For example, when asked which of two statements about the way people react to offensive content online comes closer to their view, the majority of teens (59%) think that many people take such content too seriously, as do 54% of adults. Smaller shares in both groups believe offensive content online is too often excused as “not a big deal” (40% of teens and 44% of adults).

Similar to teens, about six-in-ten adults ages 18 to 29 (62%) say offensive content is taken too seriously, as do 56% of those ages 30 to 64. By contrast, just 41% of adults 65 and older say the same.

These new results are from two Center surveys – one of U.S. teens ages 13 to 17 conducted April 14-May 4, 2022, and one of U.S. adults conducted March 21-27, 2022. They come in the wake of heightened bipartisan calls for tech companies to address cyberbullying and create a safe environment for teens. They also come amid continued court battles over whether schools can impose consequences on adolescents for what they say online – and broader debates about people being banned by social media platforms or “ canceled ” by their peers.

Politics shapes views about online discourse among both teens and adults

In both surveys, Americans’ views on these topics break sharply along partisan lines. But regardless of what party they identify with or lean toward, teens are more likely than adults with similar partisan leanings to say allowing for safe spaces online is more important than being able to speak freely online.

A bar chart showing that adults’ and teens’ views of online discourse are split along political lines – but regardless of party, greater shares of teens than adults back safe spaces online

Some 71% of teens who identify as Democrats or lean toward the Democratic Party say this, compared with 62% of Democratic and Democratic-leaning adults. About half of Republican-identifying or GOP-leaning teens (49%) also back a welcoming and safe environment – 13 percentage points greater than the share of Republican and GOP-leaning adults (36%) who hold the same view.

Among both teens and adults, though, there are substantial differences by party. Republican teens are 23 points more likely than Democratic teens to say being able to speak freely online is more important. Among adults, Republicans are 26 points more likely than Democrats to say the same. Democratic adults instead are more likely to favor welcoming, safe spaces by the same margin.

On the question of offensive content, teens’ and adults’ views within each party are similar. Gaps between parties emerge for both teens and adults: Democratic teens are more likely than Republican teens to say that offensive content online is too often excused as not a big deal (50% vs. 27%), and there is a similar pattern for Democratic versus Republican adults (55% vs. 32%). By comparison, 72% of Republican teens and 67% of Republican adults say many take offensive content they see online too seriously.

Among adults, views on these topics within each political party have continued to evolve over the past several years. In 2017, when Pew Research Center first asked adults these questions, Democrats and Republicans held largely similar views about the balance of online safe spaces versus freedom of expression. That changed in 2020 and the partisan split on this question has widened from 16 to 26 points in the past two years. On the question about offensive content online, the partisan gap among adults has slightly narrowed since 2020 but remains pronounced. Adults’ overall views on this question have remained largely unchanged during this period.

A line graph showing that over the past two years, Republicans and Democrats have become increasingly divided on priorities for the online environment; they are also split on the seriousness of offensive content online

The changes since 2020 are largely driven by those at the ideological poles in their respective parties. The share of conservative Republican adults who say free speech is more important in this context has risen from 57% in 2020 to 68% today, even as the view that offensive content is taken too seriously among that group has dipped somewhat from 74% to 67%. Liberal Democrats are now slightly more likely to think offensive content is taken too seriously than in 2020 (rising from 31% to 39%), but the majority of this group think it’s too often excused as not a big deal (61% say this today, compared with 68% in 2020).

Attitudes among teens, adults also differ by demographic factors

Views of the online environment that teens and adults encounter also vary by race, ethnicity and gender.

For example, Black and Hispanic teens are more likely than their White peers to say that feeling welcome and safe online is more important than free speech online, and that offensive content is too often excused as not a big deal.

A bar chart showing that Black and Hispanic teens are more likely than White teens to prioritize safety online over free speech and to think offensive content is too often excused as not a big deal

Among adults, those who are Black (60%) are more likely than either White (50%) or Hispanic (46%) adults to prioritize feeling welcome and safe. Black adults are also more likely than Hispanic adults to say offensive content is too often excused as not a big deal (51% vs. 38%). The views of White and Hispanic adults are statistically similar on both questions. (There were not enough Asian teens or adults in the samples to be broken out into a separate analysis. As always, their responses are incorporated into the general population figures throughout this analysis.)

Teen girls are also more likely than teen boys to prioritize feeling welcome and safe and to say offensive content is too often excused. Similarly, adult women (58%) are more likely than adult men (42%) to value a welcoming, safe environment and to feel people too often excuse offensive material as not a big deal (50% vs. 38%).

In many cases, differences are still present when accounting for other relevant characteristics that may be playing a role. Differences in by party and gender remain among teens on both questions when controlling for other factors, as do differences by race and ethnicity for views of offensive content. Among adults, party, age and gender matter after controlling for demographics.

Note: Here are  the questions used for the survey of teens, along with its methodology ; and here are the questions used for the survey of adults, and its methodology .

  • FAQs on Speech on the Internet

The internet has become an indispensable part of everyday life. The internet was first invented by Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf . While internet has many advantages, it does have disadvantages too. The following section speaks about the advantages of the internet.

  • Free material availability – Many students can’t afford expensive books, so the internet serves as the best way for them to avail free study materials. The internet gives scope to many kids to go through various study materials and choose from a wide range of information.
  • Facilitates online learning – With the COVID-19, study and work became completely online. The availability of the internet is what allowed students to attend classes, sitting at their homes. This made learning possible even in the midst of the pandemic.
  • Connects people from far and wide – Many of our family members and friends stay at different places and with the internet, it has become easy for us to catch up with them through video calls or emails. Before this, people had to pay a huge amount of money to connect with their beloved ones who were living far away from them.
  • Start a business – Many of you might have heard about online business. If one is planning to start a small business, one can easily do so with the internet.

A good speech on the internet will include both advantages and disadvantages. You already what the advantages are; now, let us look at some of the disadvantages of the internet.

  • Overuse – One of the disadvantages is overuse. The internet has always attracted more and more people from the time of its existence. The pandemic just elevated this situation. With the introduction of online classes, students got to use their phones for a longer time, which in turn, increased their screen hours. This is true in the case of adults as well.
  • Loss of creativity and imagination – With the internet giving answers to every question people have and giving ideas for any topic, the creative and imaginative intellect of children and adults alike have drastically dropped. Most often, it is not being used at all.

The internet has, for sure, opened doors to multiple possibilities. It has a lot that can teach you about anything and everything under the sun. It is in the hands of the users to use it wisely and beneficially, without causing any harm to the others.

Growth Occurs When One Goes Beyond One’s Limits With Opportunities Life Brings – Unanimous

Life is a precious gift and each moment is equally important; whether it’s about preparing for school exams, taking care of health and family, or enjoying out with friends. Even in times of difficulty, life teaches us some important lessons. There is a famous saying, ‘Those who forget History tend to repeat it.’ A person learns from his and others’ mistakes and improves his life.

2-Minute Speech About Life

‘Good morning Principal Sir, teachers, and my dear friends. Today, I stand before you to present my speech about life. We all want a successful life so that we can live a happy and material life. But, what is the meaning of life? Is life only about happiness, joy, and materialistic things?’

Meaning of Happy Life

‘Happiness and material needs are our desires offered by life as a reward for our hard work and luck. Life is a challenging journey with a lot of difficulties. Sometimes there are clouds of darkness, lost in shadows. However, even in times like these, life teaches us to discover our inner strength, resilience, and the capacity to emerge into the light with newfound wisdom and growth.’

Purpose of Life

Everybody has a purpose in their lives and to fulfill them, we have to fight our own battles. We have to study hard to succeed in exams, practice deliberately to win a competition, etc. Life is challenging, but that is what makes life so special.

Edmund Hillary and Tibetan mountaineer Tenzing Norgay, the first persons to climb the highest mountain peak, Mount Everest, failed 6 times. He, along with Edmund Hillary, finally climbed to the top of the Everest in their 7th attempt. They knew about the challenges and difficulties that would come in their mission, but they still did the impossible.’

The happiness after completing a difficult task is immensely gratifying, a triumphant blend of accomplishment, relief, and the satisfaction that comes from conquering challenges. This is what life is about. With every challenge, there is an opportunity to learn something new.

Life is a beautiful journey and we must be grateful for the precious moments life offers us. Remember, we only have one life. It’s a journey you would not want to miss, so embrace it and learn from it.

Thank you.’

Speech About Life for Students

‘Good morning my teacher and dear friend. Today, I would like to share my thoughts through a speech about life. Our life is like a blank canvas, which we wish to dye in colours of our own choice. Easier said than done, right?’

‘Here is what I have learned about life: ‘Take up one idea, make that idea your life. Dream of it, think of it and live on that idea. Let your brain, the body, the muscles, the nerves, and every inch of your body be full of that idea and just leave everything behind. This is the way to a successful life.’

Life is a Journey and Not a Destination

We all have read the quote, ‘Life is a journey and not a destination’ . But what is the meaning of this quote about life? It means that life is a continuous process of growth, experience, and learning. Life is not an endpoint.’

Life is a precious gift, as each moment carries an opportunity to learn and grow. There is a very popular saying: ‘ When one door closes, two others open.’ .It means that life is full of opportunities and even in times of adversity, there is a path to success and happiness.’

Being happy and feeling sad is part of life, but how we react is more important. Life is God’s blessing. God is the creator and destroyer of life. God has created everything perfectly. Therefore, we must embrace this precious life God has gifted us and make it worth living. Staying positive and working hard are the only options that can make our lives successful and happy.

Speech on Life of a Student

Life as a student is a unique journey, full of learning and growth. You tackle new challenges, make lifelong friends, and discover your passions.

Yet, it’s not always easy. Balancing studies, hobbies, and personal life can be tricky. This phase is a stepping stone to your future, shaping you into the person you’ll become.

1-minute Speech on Life of a Student

Good day to one and all present here. I consider it a great privilege to deliver a speech on the topic ‘Life of a Student’. Student life is the most essential part of our life. It is the foundation on which we build our future.

A student’s life is filled with both challenges and opportunities. Challenges come in the form of academic pressures, the struggle in balancing social and personal life, managing time effectively, and making critical decisions about career. The opportunities, on the other hand, are countless. Students have the chance to acquire knowledge, develop skills, build relationships, and also shape their personality.

The role of a student is not just limited to academics. They are the ambassadors of their respective cultures, carriers of knowledge, and the torchbearers of change. It is during student life that we learn the most important lessons of punctuality, discipline, and hard work.

In the midst of all these responsibilities and roles, it is important for students to also enjoy the journey. Participating in extracurricular activities, exploring new interests, and making lifelong friends form an integral part of student life. It is these experiences that broaden our perspective and allow us to grow beyond the confines of textbooks.

In conclusion, student life is a tough yet rewarding journey. It is a phase that shapes our character and lays the foundation for our future. I urge every student to make the most of this time, for it is the experiences and learnings of this phase that will guide you in your future endeavors. Thank you for your attention.

2-minute Speech on Life of a Student

Good day everyone. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to speak about the life of a student, a journey that is exciting, challenging, and transformative.

The life of a student is not just about textbooks and examinations. It is a journey that molds us into individuals who can think critically, reason logically, and communicate effectively. The life of a student begins when a child steps into a school for the first time, wide-eyed and anxious, not knowing what to expect. From that moment, a student embarks on a journey of learning and discovery.

In the early years, students learn to read and write, to understand numbers and basic concepts. Every day is a new adventure, every new word learned is a small victory. The student’s world starts expanding as they discover the wonders of science, the charm of literature, and the magic of mathematics. These years lay the foundation for the student life that lies ahead.

As students progress to middle school, they experience the joy of gaining knowledge and the satisfaction of understanding complex concepts. This period is critical as students start exploring their interests and abilities. They begin to identify the subjects they love and the ones they struggle with. This is also the time when students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, which play an essential role in shaping their personality and character. They learn the importance of teamwork, leadership, and perseverance.

High school is a significant phase in a student’s life. It’s a time where they are on the brink of adulthood while still being kids. It is a period of self-discovery where one learns to balance the rigors of academics with the pressures of social life. Students face the challenge of maintaining good grades while also nurturing their hobbies and interests. High school is a time of growth, where students learn the importance of hard work, responsibility, and time management.

As a student steps into college, they are welcomed into a world of independence and freedom. College life is often considered the best phase of a student’s life, where they form lifelong friendships, explore new fields of study, and develop a broader worldview. It is a time when students take their first steps towards their career, choosing a field that interests them, and working hard to excel in it.

In conclusion, the life of a student is a journey filled with learning, challenges, and growth. It is an exciting roller coaster ride that shapes us into who we are. As students, we must embrace this journey with positivity and enthusiasm, making the most of the opportunities we are given to learn and grow. The lessons we learn during our student life are the building blocks for our future. So, let us cherish these moments, for they are instrumental in shaping our lives.

Thank you all for your attention. I hope my insights into the life of a student have resonated with you.

Title: The future of free speech on the internet

Members of the Georgetown community joined the McCourt School’s Tech & Public Policy program for a discussion about the future of free speech on the internet with social media advocate and Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen.

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) reviewed what could be a landmark case for the tech industry — Gonzalez v. Google LLC. The case focuses on whether Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act shields internet platforms from liability for hosting and moderating user content.

The McCourt School of Public Policy’s Tech & Public Policy (TPP) program hosted social media advocate and Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen for a discussion on the impact SCOTUS’s ruling on this and several other cases could have on the future of the internet.

Frances Haugen and Michelle DeMooy speaking in Riggs Library

Following an introduction from Tech & Public Policy Fellow Rachel Bogdan (MPP-E’24), TPP program Director Michelle De Mooy and Haugen focused first on the harms of social media.

When analyzing the data on teenage mental health and social media, Haugen found that “people who were socially isolated were the most negatively impacted by social media because they had no other interactions or information sources outside of what they were seeing online.” Her organization Beyond the Screen contends that “places that have more community fabric —parks, community centers, fraternal orders, coffee shops, bars — have healthier people because individuals have another network for coming to a consensus on reality.”

“Social media silos,” or communities that are dominated by a single point of view, are at the core of Gonzalez v. Google LLC, as the plaintiffs argue that Google, through its subsidiary YouTube, violated the Anti-Terrorism Act by aiding and abetting a terrorist organization, promoting the group’s videos through its recommendation algorithm.

Creating impactful change in the United States

While European regulators are debating the application of the Digital Service Act (DSA), which aims to create a safer digital spaces where the fundamental rights of users are protected and to establish a level playing field for businesses, United States lawmakers have not been able to create impactful change in this area for more than two decades.

Haugen attributed this struggle to “a lack of muscle in the tech policy space,” as students across the country are often unable to take college-level courses on this subject matter and are therefore unable to advocate effectively for change.

Haugen added that, “as it stands, any algorithm built with the data we have today would not have enough information to remove all of the harmful content on the internet without taking down an equal, if not greater, amount of safe content.” She continues to call for increased transparency from internet platforms and said that “organizations focusing on building decentralized platforms, such as Project Liberty , allow for greater content sharing…and therefore better public safety practices.”

According to the National Institutes of Health, 15% of children in the U.S. between the ages of 12 and 17 report having at least one depressive episode each year, and 35% of U.S. children in this same age group report being on at least one of the five major social media platforms at least once a day. Haugen believes that social media exposure has forced children to “commodify themselves” from a young age, lessening their ability to learn about the world without judgment.

“A kid who has always had to think of themselves as a product never got a chance to relax and become themselves, and we are seeing the impact of that in the declining mental health of young people.”  Frances Haugen

While the future of the internet and its regulation are uncertain, Haugen urged students “to believe that there is a way to make the internet a safer place.”

“New communication platforms are always disruptive,” she said, “but every single time before, we have learned and we have adapted, and we have come out stronger.”

Speech About Life of A Student

Student life is all about studying and learning different subjects and skills that ensure a good future. From morning to night, a student’s life has a busy schedule but this schedule is quite interesting as it also comprises sports, games, hobbies, fun and joy.

Speech About Life of A Student | 4 Minutes

Good Morning Everyone, First of all, I want to wish you all the best for the day. I am here to say a few words about Student Life . I am very glad to have this tremendous opportunity.

A student’s life includes the preparation to reach school or college, studying, completing assignments, enjoying sports, having fun with friends and many more things. Doing so many things broaden our thinking. We learn the skill of time management and efficient performance. We also get to know the importance of discipline, devotion, motivation, fear, friendship etc.

Student life involves fewer struggles and more joy. Students do a lot of naughty activities during their student life. But they also learn moral values that make them a gentleman by providing them with a distinct identity in society. Your future totally depends on how has your student life been.

student life & Your Future

Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best way to predict your future is to create it”. Yes, you can create your future that is decided by your actions. But actions need to be performed in the right direction. Then a question arises how will we know whether a direction is right or wrong?

Education is the medium that helps us differentiate between the two. That is why education holds a very crucial value in human life. We begin gaining education in schools which are the first place where our student life takes off from.

Importance of student life

Student life is considered very important. Why? There are various reasons. Student life influences a person’s character very deeply. Their character and personality are designed for their student life. Apart from this, student life offers guidance which is very important to achieving goals.

Student life is also vital for a country because students are the future generations of a nation. So, they are regarded as the foundation of the future of a country. If you need to make a building stand, you must make a strong foundation otherwise it will collapse.

Teachers’ Role in student life

Have you ever think how a teacher is important in student life? Have you ever listened to Ekalavya’s Story? Eklavya learned extraordinary archery by just standing in front of an idol of his teacher. That’s how stories and cultures explain to us the importance of a teacher.

This story tells us that It is not necessary that a teacher always belongs to schools or colleges or a teacher is always a person. Everyone and everything that guides you are a teacher. Student life is incomplete without teachers. Teachers are like lamps in the darkness. They clear our doubts and show us the right path.

The Importance of Sport in student life

Health is an important part of life. Without good health, everything goes in vain. That is why it is also not advised for a student to be a bookworm who always indulges himself in his studies rather he should also pay attention to health and spend some time daily in some sports and games.

Sports and games can improve your physical and mental health. You feel energetic and active all the time which makes you more productive in your academic performance too.

At last, I want to say that one must make the best use of one’s student’s life because it never comes back once gone.

Thank you all for your valuable attention.

USC cancels Muslim valedictorian's speech

STORY: The University of Southern California (USC) has come under the spotlight this week after canceling a valedictorian speech from a Muslim student.

The school, regarded as one of California's most prestigious private universities, has defended their decision by citing safety concerns and tensions around the current conflict in the Middle East.

South Asian-American Muslim Asna Tabassum says she is being silenced by anti-Palestinian hatred for her views on human rights.

In a statement published by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the biomedical engineering major said she was "profoundly disappointed" by the decision.

Reuters spoke with executive director of CAIR, Hussam Ayloush:

“What took her by surprise is the way her university acted. You know, the way the university threw her under the bus for her was unexpected.”

Several pro-israel student groups on campus called for Tabassum’s removal as commencement speaker earlier this month.

They claimed that she had espoused antisemitic views in the past, citing an Instagram link to a post advocating for "one Palestinian state" and the "complete abolishment of the state of Israel."

Tabassum told local media she posted the link five years earlier and did not author the post.

Ayloush said the university had not asked for an advanced copy of Tabassum's address before withdrawing her invitation to speak, and that she had not even begun working on her speech.

He says USC’s decision undermines free speech, and fuels Islamophobia.

“In this case, the university is saying, well, we talk about free speech, but we're not going to necessarily support and protect free speech, because she is being penalized for using free speech to stand for human rights for all people, including Palestinians. In a way, by caving in to that pressure, they're fueling Islamophobia because they're rewarding such acts. They're making it okay.”

USC Provost Andrew Guzman said in a statement Monday the school’s decision was made solely in the interest of campus security.

It added quote: “The intensity of feelings, fueled by both social media and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, has grown to include many voices outside of USC and has escalated to the point of creating substantial risks relating to security and disruption at commencement."

Tabassum said USC officials refused to share details of their security assessment in a meeting with her.

She said she was told the school was capable of implementing appropriate safety measures for the speech, but opted not to because a tougher security posture was "not what the university wants to 'present as an image.'"

USC did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

Public safety officials and civil rights advocates have reported a rise in hate crimes against Muslims, Jews, Arabs and Palestinians in the United States since the start of the Israel-Gaza war in October.

They have also noted an escalation in tensions related to the conflict on college campuses.

USC’s commencement ceremony, set for May 10, is expected to draw 65,000 people to its downtown Los Angeles campus.

Those with student loan debt are being forced to delay life events, report finds

(CNN) - A new report reveals many Americans with student loans are being forced to pause major life events.

That’s according to the latest Gallup Lumina Foundation Cost of College report.

Researchers said they found 71% of student loan borrowers delayed milestones including buying a house, buying cars, moving out of their parent’s house, or getting married.

One in three U.S. students currently enrolled in college or post-high-school programs said they have considered stopping their coursework in the past six months with 31% blaming the cost.

Other reasons to possibly stop coursework included emotional stress and personal mental health reasons.

Critics of the Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness plans say wiping out the debt doesn’t fix the root cause.

The White House has currently forgiven $153 billion in federal student loan debt.

USC student's graduation speech cancelled in Israel-Gaza hate row

The University of Southern California (USC) has cancelled a student's graduation speech amid backlash over her social media activity on Israel.

USC cited "substantial risks" to campus security in the decision to halt the Muslim student's address.

But Asna Tabassum said she was the target of "a campaign of hate meant to silence my voice".

Ms Tabassum is the 2024 valedictorian, a student picked out for high academic scores and involvement in campus life.

The decision to cancel her speech came after claims that her social media activity was antisemitic. A debate about free speech on US college campuses has intensified since the Israel-Gaza war erupted last October.

Ms Tabassum's Instagram account links to a website that criticises Israel and calls for its "complete abolishment", instead arguing for a "one-state solution... in which both Arabs and Jews can live together".

The website also claims that "Zionism is a racist settler-colonial ideology that advocates for a Jewish ethnostate built on Palestinian land".

Israel-Gaza inflames tensions on US college campuses

Pro-Israel groups called for the university to reconsider her selection as valedictorian.

One campus group, Trojans for Israel, said that although it "strongly supports the right to free expression - including informed criticism of the Israeli government... rhetoric that denies the right of the Jewish people to self-determination or calls for the destruction of the only Jewish state in the world must be denounced as antisemitic bigotry".

In a statement on Monday, Ms Tabassum said she was "shocked" and "profoundly disappointed" by the university's decision.

"I am not surprised by those who attempt to propagate hatred. I am surprised that my own university - my home for four years - has abandoned me," she wrote.

"By cancelling my speech, USC is only caving to fear and rewarding hatred," added Ms Tabassum, who studied biomedical engineering with a minor in resistance to genocide, according to a profile on the college website.

Ms Tabassum later told the BBC's US partner CBS News that she had not been presented evidence for the security fears.

She added that she would not apologise for her activity on Instagram, but clarified she was "committed to human rights for all people".

In an email to campus on Monday, Andrew Guzman, the provost and senior vice-president for academic affairs, said the decision was necessary for "campus security and safety" at the graduation event, which draws around 65,000 people.

"The intensity of feelings, fuelled by both social media and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, has grown to include many voices outside of USC and has escalated to the point of creating substantial risks relating to security and disruption at commencement," Mr Guzman wrote.

"To be clear: This decision has nothing to do with freedom of speech," he added. "There is no free-speech entitlement to speak at a commencement. The issue here is how best to maintain campus security and safety, period."

The Council on American-Islamic Relations has called for Ms Tabassum's reinstatement as a speaker, and criticised the university by saying it "cannot hide its cowardly decision behind a disingenuous concern for security".

The CFPB is permanently banning BloomTech from consumer lending activities and its CEO, Austen Allred, from student lending for a period of 10 years.
