What Role Does STEM Education Play?

STEM education has grown in importance for the world as it offers numerous benefits in a variety of industries. Because most sectors rely on STEM subjects , it indirectly plays a large part in the economy’s growth.

STEM education can be viewed from two perspectives: the perimeter of students in school and the teaching approach contained within, and the wider public , which includes parents and teachers who can indirectly aid kids in choosing the program.  Students and educators must collaborate to ensure that subjects are presented and comprehended in a way that can be used in the real world.

With major improvements in each of the STEM fields, new job opportunities are emerging at a rapid pace. Several countries of the world have seen a lack of well-trained STEM workers in recent years . While the demand for qualified students grows by the day , the number of students interested in pursuing a STEM profession is decreasing at an alarming rate.

According to surveys conducted in developing nations, STEM education has to be improved in a number of areas. Change the curriculum: It is not required to introduce a STEM topic in schools when the levels of science, engineering, technology, and mathematics are low. Indeed, many countries lack a STEM topic in their educational curricula. However , students and teachers must be exposed to low-cost programs that encourage integrated STEM education.

Enhancing teacher training: STEM education courses at the pre-service level should be revised so that trainee teachers are more equipped when they are deployed in schools . That means STEM subject faculty in teacher education institutes must improve their teaching approaches and introduce courses that are in line with current thinking in these fields.

Faculty members in STEM topics must also participate in professional development programs to strengthen their competencies and stay current with the newest advancements in the world’s premier teacher education institutes . Their research abilities must also be boosted.

STEM education is critical to accomplishing Sustainable Development Goals, improving people’s lives worldwide, and providing inclusive and equitable education for all. It should be improved and expanded wherever possible.

Education Without Boundaries

Defining education is a perilious task. But the writer undertakes this job, explaining how education as a concept lies beyond the boundaries of books and schools.

By Sheetal Bhopal

Edited by Anandita Malhotra, Senior Editor, The Indian Economist

‘Vishva Guru’…This was how ancient Bharat, that is, today’s modern India was known to the world. It was from here that the Vedas, Puranas, Unani, Ayurveda, Airthmetic, Astrology and the other sciences conceived and spread to the rest of the parts of the globe. It was here that the zero was invented. India is the land of world renowned scientists like Ramanuja and Aryabhatta. There was a time when India was the focal point of the world education, students from all over came to receive education in our revered institutions like the Nalanda University, Rajgiri and Vikramshila. What was it that attracted the aliens to our land? What was it that gave Indian education a universal recognition? Apparently, it was the intensive and the practical knowledge that this realm believed in and practiced. Over the time, we were influenced by the global scenario and hence started imbibing the western style of education. But somewhere along adopting the global trends we started adopting them wholly and had to part with our roots. If today we are ready to practice the practical approach that ancient Bharat tread on, merged with the ideals of the Western education, we are certainly bound to succeed.

Education. What does the word mean? Does it only refer to reading and writing skills? Does it only refer to attending school? Or for that matter does it refer to mugging up the textbook and vomiting it out on the paper? In my perception, education involves the holistic growth of an individual. It teaches about the past and prepares us for the inevitable future. In other words, education is experience.

What is it that keeps Indian education bound in chains? India is a nation with diversities in each and every aspect, which may be culture, folk, mores, cuisines, language and for that matter even education. It is because of this need to cater to these diversities that we have several boards and institutions – CBSE, ICSE, NCERT, STATE BOARDS, IB, open schools and vocational training. But it is this vast diversity that keeps us unified. If ICSE deals in traditional and intensive approach of learning, CBSE prepares us to face the competitive exams.

The Right to Education Act under the 86 th Amendment Act says that education is neither a privilege nor a favour, it is now a basic human right. The government might have made the effort on its behalf but a question is – Are all the people in the society aware that they are born with this right? Somewhere down the lane, there is lack of awareness towards this fundamental right. And even those who are aware, especially the economically weaker sections of society are unwilling to send their children their school citing the basis that their child supplementing their income was more important than him receiving education. A panacea to this ill can be making these people realize the indispensable use of education. An initiative can be taken by the NGOs and other private institutions to work for this cause.

The district authorities of the state can look after the basic standard of the education provided both in the private and the governments run institutions. They should especially see to the provision of the average level of infrastructure facilities. A healthy competition can even be organized amongst the various districts and will as well instill a sense of self-pride in the district officials. These district authorities should be answerable to the state authorities and the state authorities should be answerable to the central authorities. Stringent rules should be followed on behalf of the government and transparency should also be maintained.

Today everyone seems to be involved in rat race where every one wants to surpass the others. Our eyes are glued on giving competition to others and becoming a part of this vicious cut-throat competition. This has certainly received an upper hand over human satisfaction and happiness. Somewhere, our education system stresses on grades and marks that we hardly bother understanding the concept. Teachers are more concerned with finishing the syllabus rather than pay attention to the student’s understands of the basic notion.  In this way, we give boost to rote learning and spoon feeding. Preference is hardly given to the individuality of a person, creative thinking or understanding something to apply it in our actual lives.

Our population roughly consists of 200 million youth i.e. 200 million ignited minds. Economists believe that in the forthcoming years India will be a superpower as we will have the largest number of young people in our nation. But are we ready to provide them with elementary education, good employment, and a job and health security? On the one hand we have the booming economy and increase in our GDP rates; on the other hand we have more than 60% of our population residing in villages who are dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. If on one hand, we are the biggest outsourcing nation in the world, on the other hand, a major portion of our population is still illiterate. Somewhere we have lost the balance between the development and the provisions of basic amenities to all the strata of the society, education being an imperative part of it.

Harry Potter tour

Christmas present bought for my son, didn’t disappoint. Fantastic tour, well organised from start to finish, definitely recommend

Best part of this tour was our guide Bruce! And our driver Tony of course! Very informative tour, not only of the three places we went to, but of locations we passed on the way!

The tour was on time. It was a lovely experience. Our tour guide Bruce and driver Tony were both lovely. Bruce was funny and entertaining. Tony was a good driver felt safe all the way.

We were told that the tour was 1 and a half hours and the guy selling the tickets showed us the route on the map and said there was a guide on the bus. The bus driver said that there were lots of diversions in place and a marathon happening that day in London. Consequently we saw the London Eye 4 times, houses of parliament 4 times, St Thomas's hospital 4 times and not a lot else. After 2 hours on the bus a guide called Ana got on the bus at the London Eye and welcomed us to the start of the tour. We were then on the bus for a further 30 minutes before we got back to the Tower of London where we had boarded the bus. If the guy selling the tickets had told us the truth about diversions, the marathon and the fact that we wouldn't see Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and who knows how many other sights we wouldn't have wasted £58 on 2 tickets. Absolute shambles

Dear Sir/Madam, We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent experience with us. As you know, London is one of the busiest cities in the world and diversions, as well as road works and closures, can take place at any time and with very little notice. We pass these changes on to our drivers and street staff when notified and update our website accordingly, however it’s not always possible to inform all our customers while they are traveling. Should you wish to discuss this further, please write to [email protected] and we'll be happy to assist you. Thanks

Awful. Most of the audio was either missing or not in synch with the place the bus was. I could have walked the distance of the bus route. We had to change buses and wait in the cold. Poor customer service when I complained.

Dear Sir/Madam, We are sorry to hear that you were let down by the quality of the audio commentary and had to switch buses as a result. We work very hard to keep our equipment updated and in top working order, however occasional glitches can happen. Please accept our genuine apologies for this rare occurrence. Kind regards

I usually do not give a negative review but in this case I have to do it. I would say Golden Tours Uk is very close to a scam. I had a horrible experience with Golden Tours. First they cancelled my tour just one day in advance and offered me another tour that was totally different. This new offered was sold for much cheaper price and they said they will refund the remaining amount which they have not done for more than 2 months. They consistently lie in their emails and blame Covid for not issuing me the refund. I don't understand what Covid got to do with the refund. According to them the transactions are slow due to Covid. When we went on the Tour. The tour guide was not nice at all. He was very rude and give us the feeling that the is the boss. It was not fun at all listening to his random life stories. He told everyone in a very rude way every time that come at this time or we will just leave you there. This tour was just horrible. It was like the tour guide is the shepherd and we are his sheeps. Most of his information were wrong about the places. He knew very little about the places and he even gave random wrong information that had nothing to do with the tour like Queen of England owns 40% of the world land or JK Rowling is richer than Bill Gates etc. He was very annoying and at the end of the tour he insisted on tips and it made us very comfortable! I would say avoid golden tour. It is not only the tour guide it is the whole company. Golden tours is pretty close to a scam! The reversation team, the tour guide and the customer service team very very close to a scam.

Dear Rana Usman Many thanks for taking the time to write a review and then sending us the booking reference number so that we could investigate the issues you have raised further. We did indeed have to take the very difficult decision to cancel your tour, three days before the planned departure date. This is very rare and never something that we want to do. The tour would indeed have been fulfilled by us at Golden Tours, however you booked via a 3rd party agent, that same agent processed the payment. Therefore, they needed to refund you the amount between the tour you booked and the tour you took. This is where you encountered a delay. I can see from the notes in your booking that we contacted the agent on your behalf for the refund to be processed asap, however we were unable to do anymore because we were not holding your money. Your comments re the content of the tour are not what we are seeing from the many reviews we have on TripAdvisor. We will raise the comments with the tour guide as we maintain the highest standards when conducting tours. Once again, many thanks for raising these issues and apologises for the issues you encountered. Kind regards Golden Tours

I did it about 10 days ago. Any specific questions?

Hi McVisor, you are really an eye-saver ! I was reading the reviews until my eyes almost popped out... 8-P But, adamhornets, much thanks for the links !

The timings by Golden Tours seems very tight... Is there sufficient time to complete the tour and also to spend some time at the gift shops ?

The key to my decision was that the studios had sold out of all individual tickets for the day we wanted to go!

If you can get tickets for an early tour time and are comfortable getting the train then you can spend the maximum time there. It really a personal choice.

If you were to go with Golden you could still decide to stay late and catch the train back. They asked us to let them know not to wait so obviously some people decide to do that even at the additional cost of the train fare.

Our bus was about 30 minutes late because of Olympics events. My daughter and I still had time to see everything thoroughly, have a butterbeer, coffee and a snack, and look through the gift store. We could have looked even more and eaten more but I was getting tired. We did not line up to be green-screened riding a broom. For you, that might be your lifelong dream.

You don't stay together as a tour group after you arrive.

Golden Tours really just simplifies the process - you don't need to buy both tour tickets and train tickets and plan train times and guess at your return time.

My daughter and I ended up with more like 3 hours because of special traffic conditions.

From the reviews I read and my experience I would say 3 hours is plenty for the average fan, with the extra 20 or 30 minutes needed for food, loos, etc. Most people would be getting tired of standing around looking at things.

If you are a super-hardcore fan (as many people are) with lots of stamina and if you want to do a lot of shopping, and if you will probably never be able to come again, and you can get tickets - then probably plan to go alone and spend more time.

But if you go with Golden Tours it will probably work out fine also.

“I solemnly swear I am up to no good,” says the 30-something-year-old Harry Potter fan (aka – me). One is never too old (or young) to experience the dazzling magic of a good fantasy story, am I right? Being a big Harry Potter fan, you bet I put this Harry Potter studio tour as a must-do on our itinerary.

Though select scenes were filmed in the city of London, the Warner Bros. Studio in Leavesden (about 20 miles NW of London) is where much of the filming and work on the series of films actually took place . It also houses a large collection of set pieces and props from the movies!

If you’re looking for the ultimate Harry Potter fan experience, I don’t know how it can get any better than this!

History of the WB Harry Potter Studio

Over the course of 10 years of filming the movie series, the cast and crew called the Leavesden studio home. Many of the sets, costumes and props were saved and preserved in case a need for use arose in any of the subsequent films. When filming was done, they had so many things leftover, it only made sense to create a tour for fans to enjoy these treasures up close and personal!

In March of 2012, the doors of the WB Harry Potter Studio officially opened to the public for tours. I’m thankful that I waited to visit London so that I could include this in our travel experience!

Getting to the WB Harry Potter Studio

Logistics are very important getting to the WB studio since it is outside of the city of London itself. That being said, there are a couple of ways to get to the studio from London:

  • Via car (self-drive) : Parking is available onsite free of charge (Directions listed here:  https://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/getting-here )
  • Via train: Take the train from London to the closest station to the studio, Watford Junction . Direct trains leave from London Euston Station (20-minute journey) and Birmingham New Street (1-hour journey). You’ll then need to transfer to a shuttle bus which runs every 20 minutes from the station. Note that you must already have a valid ticket for entry to the WB Studio to utilize the shuttle service. Single tickets are £2.00, and return tickets are £2.50.
  • Via bus tour (easiest method): There are numerous tour companies that will take you directly from London to the studio. We booked our tour through Golden Tours so we would not have to stress over car or train travel. More on that below.

Traveling with Golden Tours

As mentioned above, we wanted the least amount of hassle as possible . Not having been to London before, we did not want to rent a car (driving in, around, and to/from the city is pretty insane if you ask me!). Taking the train seemed like it left too much room for error.

So, we decided on a “tour” with Golden Tours , which is really just a bus ride from Central London to the studio that includes your entry ticket. Golden Tours is also the preferred tour company for WB Studios so I felt pretty solid with my choice.

As a little bonus, they will play one of the Harry Potter movies on small screens throughout the bus. You won’t have time to watch a full movie, but it’s a nice little touch!

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

Cost of the Tour

Tickets (with transport) start at £77.00, depending on the day of your choosing. We paid around $110 USD per person in 2018 (around £84 – give or take a few depending on the current exchange rate).

We also went in May when prices seem to be a bit higher. If you travel in the off season, you can save a few pounds/dollars.

Booking the Tour

You can book directly on the studio’s website here  or via Viator.com .

Tour Meeting Location

We booked our tour with the departure point at Victoria Station . There’s a Golden Tours office located there, and just a stone’s throw away, you’ll find the bus (adorned with the Harry Potter logo), and the area for the line to board.

Be sure to have your vouchers to present to the tour operator. They will exchange your voucher for your actual tickets to get into the studio, as well as your pass to get back on the bus to head back to London.

If your departure location is anywhere but Victoria Station, I would suggest contacting Golden Tours ahead of time for logistical details.

Studio Tour Pro Tips

  • Book early! I’m serious about this. As soon as you have your trip to England booked and you know what day you want to visit the studio, book your tickets. They can sell out months in advance, as this is a very popular attraction !
  • Choose the earliest entry time possible.  It may mean you need to get up early for the bus ride, but it’s worth it to get to the studio as early as you can before it gets really busy.

Arrival at the WB Studio

Upon arriving at the studio, once we passed through the ticket entry point, we were greeted with a long hallway of famous quotes from the movie. Nothing like a little word magic to get you hyped up for the tour!

Fun Fact: The Prisoner of Azkaban is one of my favorite of the films, hence my choice of quote below.

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

If you arrive before your scheduled tour time, you can grab some snacks, drinks or brekkie at the Lobby Cafe before your scheduled entry time. You can also browse the gift shop (this would be the best time to pick up a wand if you don’t already have one) , or just admire the main lobby area plastered with giant photos of the cast, and the lovely blue Goblet of Fire!

We sat down and had some croissant sandwiches since we hadn’t had any breakfast before we got on the bus, and were still able to get in about 15 minutes before our scheduled entry time.

Passport Book

Get one before your start your tour! I didn’t know about this before our visit, but they provide guests with a passport booklet (upon request), which includes a Golden Snitch hunt, puzzles and trivia to enhance your tour. I’m so sad I didn’t get one!

You can ask for a passport from any staff member at any point in your tour, and souvenir stamps are available at key points in the tour (such as Gringott’s Bank and Platform 9 ¾).

Digital Guides

Digital guides are available before your tours for an extra cost (unless pre-booked with your entry ticket).  We opted not to get guides on our visit, though I wonder if it would be easier than stopping to read all the different informational placards everywhere.

Once you make it through the hall to the main lobby area, you’ll queue up in line and they’ll let you through in groups.

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

The WB Studio website is excellent about providing directions on what to expect throughout your experience if you need more info:  https://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/when-you-arrive

The “Studio Tour” is mostly self-guided except for the beginning portion where a guide goes through an intro presentation, and takes you through to a seated pre-show on a big movie screen.

The guide will also take you through the iconic set of the Great Hall , say a few words, and then let you disperse into the first section of studio the for your self-guided tour.

Tour Duration

The length of the tour really depends on the pace you want to move at. We had about 3.5 hours in the studio before having to get onto our return bus. That was definitely plenty of time for us. If you have a group of kids, you may feel a little rushed if they want to spend time lingering at any one particular spot or if you want to read every bit of information on every placards.

Regardless, always keep the time in mind as you don’t want to miss your scheduled return bus.

Video & Photos

Video and photos are permitted with handheld cameras and phones (except during the pre-show “movie” and any green screen areas throughout the studio). I took a ton of photos, but the lighting inside the studio is pretty dark and not really conducive to getting perfect shots. Oh well! It’s all about making memories right?

The Great Hall

Get ready for all the Harry Potter feels !

The Great Hall is such a great intro to the studio tour. As soon as you walk into the massive hall, all those feelings of nostalgia come flowing in. Walking through one of the most iconic sets from the movies where so many memorable scenes were filmed is amazing! I mean, how many times have you wished you were feasting with all the others at Hogwarts?

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

The Great Hall is also home to costumes from each of the houses, as well as many of the professors.

Studio Tour – Part A (Sets, Props & Costumes)

***WARNING: Spoiler photos ahead!***

The studio tour itself is broken up into two main sections , with a break in between at the Backlot. For ease, I’ll just refer to the main sections as Part A and Part B.

In Part A of the tour, you’ll find most of the sets, props, and costumes . You’ll likely find that you spend the bulk of the studio tour in this first section just because there is SO much to see here.

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

The Forbidden Forest

One of the larger sets on the tour is the Forbidden Forest , where you’ll find the likes of Buckbeak and Aragog with his spider friends. Some scenes for the forest in the movies were shot on location outside of the studio. However, a large portion were filmed in the studio with giant sets and art installments to make it come alive.

The pieces at the studio today are just a small sampling of some of the items that they used. I’m always amazed at how much work really goes into the creation of movie sets . It’s really neat to be able to get even a glimpse of that in person!

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

Platform 9 ¾ & Hogwarts Express

Of course, we must not forget Platform 9 ¾ and Hogwarts Express! Most of the scenes of Platform 9 ¾ were filmed at the King’s Cross Station in Central London. However, they did recreate part of it for filming scenes in the Deathly Hallows Part II, which is what you’ll find at the studio.

Here, you’ll find all of the goodies that the Hogwarts students bought on the train rides (expensive chocolate frogs anyone?).

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

Now is not the time to be shy! Be that cheesy tourist – that super fan. Life is too short not to have fun and enjoy the small things, including pretending you are on your way through Platform 9 ¾ with the rest of ’em.

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

The Backlot & Butterbeer

About halfway through the tour, we emerged at the Backlot area of the studio (including the Backlot Cafe) and the Butterbeer stand. If you need a break for food, this is the one place to do it!

If you want to have a taste of some authentic Butterbeer, this is the only place at the studio where you can partake. Souvenir tankards are available at a premium cost, which of course we purchased. I’ll probably be reusing mine for actual beer in the future!

I had no idea what Butterbeer was supposed to taste like. To be honest, I did not have really high hopes. However, I actually quite enjoyed it! The taste is like a butterscotch soda with a frothy whipped cream topping. Much better than expected.  They also serve Butterbeer ice cream , which I wished we would have also tried as I hear it’s supposed to be delicious.

Food Menu for the Backlot Cafe can be found here:   https://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/food-drink

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

Outdoor Set Pieces

When we finished with our Butterbeer, we wandered around the Backlot admiring the outdoor set pieces. In this area, you’ll find the infamous Knight Bus , Harry’s house at Privet Drive , the wooden Hogwarts Bridge , and the Potters’ home (destroyed by Voldemort).

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

You can take a brief walk through a part of the Privet Drive house as well, which is staged with the scene of the flying letters from Hogwarts.

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

Studio Tour – Part B (Art Department)

Once we passed through the Backlot, we headed into  Part B of the studio tour, which focuses on the art aspects of the movies. This includes animatronics, models, concept art and items relating to a lot of the different creatures such as masks and hats.

As much as I loved the first part of the studio tour with all the sets and costumes, I felt this part of the tour showed you more behind the scenes of what was involved in the making of the movies.

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

Love me some Dobby!

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

They have such attention to detail in some of these pieces. It’s incredible! One of my favorites was an animatronic Hagrid head that we thought was pretty realistic looking.

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

Diagon Alley & Hogwarts Model

Last but not least, my favorite set pieces were in Part B of the studio tour – Diagon Alley and the enormous model of Hogwarts. They used a large Hogwarts model to film all the exterior scenes of the school (unfortunately, there is no Hogwarts castle in real life!).

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

At the very end of the tour, you’ll come up on the pièce de résistance – the model of Hogwarts Castle . It was my absolute favorite set piece and I was in awe of just how beautiful (and big) it was. Maybe it was the ambient blue and purple lighting, but we definitely lingered in here and took in the views from every angle of this thing.

Put this on the list of things that make you say, “wow.” Bravo, Warner Bros. What a great finale!

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

Ending the Tour

The tour spits you out where you started in the main area with the café and gift shop. I brought home a few souvenirs from the shop and we sat down to have some ciders before getting on the bus.

Tour Regrets

  • Only trying the Butterbeer drink and not the ice cream
  • Not buying a wand at the start of the tour to pretend like I am casting spells all over the studio
  • Not getting an Activity Passport at the start of the tour to make things extra fun (Snitch hunt, hello!!!)
  • Being too shy to jump on the green screen broom and pretend I was going for the Snitch in typical Harry fashion
  • Drinking too much cider before getting back onto the bus for a long ride back to London without a bathroom in sight

golden tours harry potter tripadvisor

Would I go on this Harry Potter studio tour again? Absolutely. Many thanks to my husband for indulging on this one. If you are a big fan, you’ll probably find something new to gawk at time and time again.

“Mischief managed.”

Golden Bus Tours - Harry Potter Studio... - Golden Tours

  • London - Things to Do

Golden Bus Tours - Harry Potter Studio Tour

I booked via Golden Tours because the event itself was sold out of tickets on our chosen day so I couldn't travel direct. The bus left on time but we arrived 55 mins before our allocated time and had to hang around. Conversely we got back to London 30 mins earlier than expected which was good. I guess they allow for traffic disruption. The bus looks good but once inside it is a standard, rather uncomfortable double decker bus and there is nothing added to enhance the tour - it is simply a means of getting to the location. They do play movie trailers for about 30 mins but the interference was awful and a cheer went up when the driver eventually switched it off. I would recommend Golden Tours if you do not want to or cannot make your own way to the event. However, it is simply a bus journey, not an extension of the Harry Potter experience. The ticket price is significantly higher than the entrance price to the Harry Potter Studios and all you are getting is a standard bus journey. My family were desperate to see the Harry Potter Studios in this one off trip to London so for me I was willing to pay the extra but look at your options. The Harry Potter Studios were great and a must for anyone interested in not just Harry Potter but the army of other occupations that are involved in making a movie. We went in the half term break and the queue to get in at our allocated time was really long but once into the main event the crowds were were controlled and you didn't feel crowded. I bought the digital guide for £5 but I think you only need it if English isn't your first language or if you are particularly interested in hearing the directors and actors views on certain aspects of the tour.

Thank you for sharing your experiences on your Warner Bros. Studio Tour including return transfers from central London with Golden Tours. For Harry Potter and movie studio fans, this is a perfect way to discover the behind the scenes secrets of the Harry Potter films so you are right in saying in can appeal to not just fans of the books but also to any one interested in how a blockbuster is made. Thank you for taking the time to comment on taking the direct return transfers from central London to the Studios, we appreciate all forms of feedback. Rather than using public transport and avoid changing trains and buses, most people prefer the convenience of this direct return transfers (running hourly during the day) from central London to and from Warner Bros. Studio Tour based in Leavesden, Watford. Our aim is to make sure that everyone arrives on time based on the entrance time on their ticket and sometimes due to the traffic around London it can mean an early arrival and most people will spend this time to visit the gift shop or dinner. We try to keep our prices as low as possible and frequently compare with all the alternative options in traveling to the Studios from London but the cost of entrance will be the same. Thank you for choosing Golden Tours and we are very pleased that overall your enjoyed your tour.

Instead of spending the day walking miles underground from tube station to tube station get the hop on hop off bus. It goes to all the sights. The ones with the live narration are the best. You can get a ticket at any of the stops. Ride it all around, then go back to where you want to get off and spend more time. There are several routes on one ticket. If you get the top deck front seat you won't want to move. Be sure and pick it up at night as well for the lights, sights and sounds as the ticket is good for 24 hours. You can get a 2 day ticket as well so worth it.

Thank you for your comments on your recent bus tour. It is always that little extra touch in having a live guide that can make the trip that little bit more interesting. With tickets covering all of our 5 routes around this amazing city, our customers are able to choose which route suits them best, then be able to hop on hop off as they choose which sights to visit or spend some time in one of the many shopping areas. It’s a very different tour driving through the streets of London in the early evening as the same attractions you view can give you a very different experience as the sun is going down, After the Hop on Hop off tour has finished, our guided London By Night tour can let customers see the sights and sounds of the city nightlife, and again a different experience. Thank you for choosing Hop on Hop plus and we hope that Golden Tours will be able to welcome you on one of our many other coach tours in the future.

The tour bus was twenty minutes late to pick us up, but the coach was comfortable and the tour was awesome. I don't particularly recommend this tour company over any others, though, they basically just drove us to and from the Harry Potter Studio Tour, which is operated separately. Shop around to see if there's a cheaper coach to the studio.

Thank you for sharing your ‘Harry Potter’ experience on a Warner Bros. Studio Tour London including return transfers from central London with Golden Tours. As a preferred partner with WB Studios that offer transportation from London it is certainly more convenient than using public transport and our prices are still competitive. Thank you for choosing Golden Tours.

This was one of the best tours I have taken in a long time. First off, the tour guide Graham was amazing. Friendly, funny and very knowledgeable all wrapped up in one tour guide. If you take this tour with Golden Tours, make sure you ask for Graham. You will be glad you did!! The tour was a long day, but well worth the effort. The attractions were amazing and spread out enough to let you catch your breath between attractions. I highly recommend this tour.

Thank you for sharing your experience on Golden Tours’ Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Roman Baths tour When covering three great locations with the distances involved from London in a single day we always aim to make sure we maximize as much time as possible at each location. We are delighted to learn you found your guide, Graham, funny as it’s always much more meaningful and enjoyable when accompanied by someone as informative as Graham delivering with enthusiasm. Thank you for choosing Golden Tours and we appreciate you recommending us.

I went crying like 5 times. Took my breath away.Colud meet the animal actors, and I went speechless at the Castle. The best choice for a trip if your in London.

Hello Adam K We are so pleased you had such a memorable time visiting the “Making of Harry Potter” at WB Studios. How lucky to have gone while the animal actors were available to meet them. The chance to see and walk through the same film sets that were used in the movies can never be experienced anywhere else. You’ll also have the chance to see the Hogwarts Train which is coming very soon to the WB Studios. Thank you for choosing Golden Tours and we are very pleased that your enjoyed your tour.

All was as expected. Punctual. They even came to look for me at the pick up point. Good service if all you need is to be taken there and back.

Hello Mark A We are pleased you enjoyed your morning unguided tour to Stonehenge and the chance to visit one of the most unique attractions in England. The tour price includes an entrance ticket with audio guide so with the visitors centre there is plenty to do once you’ve taken all your photos. Thank you for choosing Golden Tours and we hope to see you again.

Stem Education Without Boundaries Essay

In an era marked by technological advancements and global connectivity, education is evolving rapidly. One of the most transformative trends in education today is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. But what if we told you that STEM education could transcend boundaries, making learning not just accessible but engaging and effective for all? In this essay, we will explore the concept of “STEM Education Without Boundaries” and its significance in our interconnected world.

Introduction to STEM Education

1. the essence of stem.

STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into a cohesive learning paradigm. It emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation.

Traditional Barriers to Education

2. geographic constraints.

Historically, one of the primary barriers to quality education has been geographic constraints. Many students in remote or underserved areas lack access to advanced STEM resources and experienced educators.

3. Socioeconomic Disparities

Socioeconomic disparities often limit educational opportunities. Access to STEM programs, tutors, and materials can be unequal, creating a gap in STEM proficiency among students.

The Digital Revolution

4. the digital divide.

The digital revolution has been a double-edged sword. While it has brought advanced learning tools, it has also exposed the digital divide —the gap between those with access to technology and those without.

5. Leveraging Technology

However, technology can also be a bridge. Online courses, virtual labs, and educational apps are democratizing STEM education, making it accessible to a broader audience.

STEM Education Without Boundaries

6. virtual laboratories.

One of the key components of STEM education without boundaries is the use of virtual laboratories . These online platforms enable students to conduct experiments, explore scientific concepts, and develop engineering skills from anywhere with an internet connection.

7. Global Collaboration

Global collaboration is another pillar of this concept. Students can now connect with peers, researchers, and educators worldwide, sharing insights and collectively addressing global challenges.

8. Personalized Learning

With the help of artificial intelligence (AI), STEM education becomes more personalized . AI-driven systems adapt to each student’s pace and style of learning, ensuring a tailored educational experience.

9. Gamified Learning

Gamified learning incorporates elements of play into education, making it engaging and enjoyable. Gamification encourages exploration, experimentation, and problem-solving.

The Impact of STEM Education Without Boundaries

10. empowering underrepresented groups.

STEM education without boundaries empowers underrepresented groups, including girls and minority students, by providing equal access to quality STEM resources.

11. Fostering Innovation

A generation educated without boundaries is poised to drive innovation. These students, armed with diverse perspectives and global connections, are more likely to tackle complex challenges creatively.

Challenges and Considerations

12. digital literacy.

As we embrace technology, we must prioritize digital literacy to ensure that all students can effectively navigate online resources.

13. Equity in Access

To truly achieve STEM education without boundaries, we must address equity in access . Bridging the digital divide requires infrastructure development and policy changes.

In conclusion, STEM education without boundaries is a transformative concept that holds the potential to reshape education as we know it. By leveraging technology, fostering global collaboration, and personalizing learning, we can break down traditional barriers and empower a new generation of learners. This approach not only benefits individuals but also society as a whole by nurturing innovation and inclusivity.

Education Without Boundaries – New Opportunities, New Challenges

education without boundaries essay 500 words

School closures during the pandemic brought about many changes to educational systems. Administrators, teachers, students, and parents each faced significant challenges through the course of the year. In some regards, these changes provided new opportunities for students through remote learning platforms. In other instances, however, some struggled with the lack of in-person support and hands-on learning. But as we emerge from the pandemic, schools will not only be faced with these issues but new ones as well. And one of these may well be dealing with classrooms without borders.

Understandably, students who attend public school systems in the US are required to live within specific school districts. But during the pandemic, the boom of online learning platforms allowed some leniency in this regard. ( Read more about the online learning boom in this Bold story .) Currently enrolled students were allowed to log in remotely in order to perform educational activities. Most did this from home within the school district, but some chose to do this from abroad. In essence, this education without boundaries, at least in a physical sense, offered needed learning opportunities for some students. This raises the possibility of how school systems may to consider classrooms without borders in the future.

“It takes a thirst for education on the part of the student to log in to school from Egypt or Kenya. It takes dedication from the teachers, staff, school board and administration to make that happen.” – Pat Politano Mid-Manhattan School District Spokesperson

A Snapshot of Remote Education without Boundaries

To gain a better understanding of what classrooms without borders looks like, it’s worth examining student behaviors this past year. In many school districts, particularly in urban areas, some immigrant and minority students chose to attend from afar. While residing in countries like the Dominican Republic, Kenya, Honduras, and others, these students accessed school platforms online. In total, as many as 2 to 3% of these individuals periodically attended classes abroad. Given the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, education without boundaries made sense for some.

In many cases, students accessing public school systems from other countries did so out of necessity. Some parents, who were unable to secure childcare at home while working, sought the assistance of foreign relatives. Other students traveled to other countries to care for sick relatives. And others simply took the opportunity that education without boundaries offered to reconnect with relatives living elsewhere. Because all students were essentially participating in classrooms without borders, many students saw this as permissible.

“We of course don’t encourage it. But families here have just faced so many challenges during the pandemic. I’d rather have them learning from wherever they are than not.” – Susana A. Perón, Deputy Superintendent of Paterson Public Schools

Challenges with Classrooms without Borders

In terms of education without boundaries, clear challenges do exist. For one, school districts require that students reside within geographic areas in order to attend both online and in-person sessions. As a result, students logging in remotely can usually only be abroad for a certain amount of time. In addition, classrooms without borders means that students are on different time zones. This means some students may need to access online activities at unusual hours. Notably, this is usually not ideal when trying to create ideal learning environments.

Some kid students learning via Zoom

It is also quite clear that students choosing to log in remotely from other countries tend to be immigrants and minorities. It is well recognized that these students already suffer from achievement gaps in traditional classrooms. Therefore, classrooms without borders could exacerbate these problems. The lack of in-person support and inherent technology issues with remote access could make matters worse. This form of education without boundaries enables remote access that can certainly be helpful. But at the same time, it may also create additional obstacles to learning for some students.

“It’s one thing to say kids can log in anytime, anywhere. But if they’ve gone someplace where they need to log in at 2 a.m., that doesn’t seem ideal.” – Mike Magee, Chief Executive of Chiefs for Change

Seizing Potential Opportunities with Remote Learning

If there is one thing that the pandemic taught us, it’s that we are resilient and can rapidly adapt to change. This was certainly true of educational systems as teachers and administrators had to quickly adopt new practices. Notably, one of these practices involved the implementation of online learning systems. Educators scrambled to create new curricula and new learning activities in this new environment. At the same time, they also had to develop new support structures to help both students and parents alike. Though this was challenging, these school systems effectively created classrooms without borders. And now that they are in place, new opportunities for education without boundaries exist.

Understanding this, administrators and teachers together must embrace these opportunities moving forward. Current classrooms without borders have notably given some students and parents a level of support needed amidst a crisis. From this perspective, further developing education without boundaries could result in more effective ways to meet student and parent needs. While these systems should never sacrifice academic quality, it’s evident that many students thrive in remote online learning environments. Therefore, providing such options for learning in a more comprehensive manner could have clear advantages. These are worthwhile pursuits that educational systems should consider in a post-pandemic world.

Borderless Classrooms – Next Steps

Virtual environments are proving to be advantageous in a number of areas. This includes not only virtual entertainment platforms but also those involving telemedicine and telehealth. Beyond public school systems, remote online learning platforms are also on the rise. Therefore, it seems quite logical that public school systems should explore these opportunities as well. Classrooms without borders could potentially better utilize limited educational resources. They could also improve access to learning supports that may otherwise not be available. Creative solutions are needed for education without boundaries to be realized. But as the pandemic has clearly shown, these alternatives do have potential.

A 500-word essay is a very interesting type of essay writing. Like other academic writing assignments, this type of essay writing is quite often assigned to students at different academic levels.

A 500-word essay tends to polish the writing and analytical skills of a writer. It is not a very extensive composition, but still, it is meaningful and equally important.

This type of essay writing is interesting and very easy to write. You have to be on point, which means that you do not have to do a lot of research and stay focused on your point of view.

A 500-word essay format is one of the easiest formats to follow for essay writing.

On This Page On This Page -->

What is a 500-Word Essay?

A 500-word essay is basically an essay with three sections that give clear depictions of an occasion or any item. This type of essay is a common article design that can be followed for composing any sort of exposition, for example, a descriptive essay, an argumentative essay, and so forth.

A 500-word essay is mostly doled out at secondary schools and universities. Almost every other student faces it multiple times throughout academic life. It doesn't have any broad heading, so you can show all your latent capacity by not relying on the subject and theme.

How to Format a 500-Word Essay?

The format of a 500-word essay is very simple and very similar to other types of essay formats. The only thing that makes it different is the essay length.

As the word count for this type of essay is less, thus the length of the paragraphs is also small, and the word count ranges from 75-125 words.

Each paragraph has 3-5 sentences. These sentences must be well-written so that despite being short in length, the sentence can explain its purpose.

Here is a standard format of a 500-word essay that has the following components with examples of each component.

The introduction is responsible for keeping the reader engaged. It provides a brief overview of the overall essay and contains the thesis statement for the essay topic.

It provides background information about your essay’s topic and mentions why you chose this topic in particular.

Also, there is a hook statement in the introduction paragraph. This is a statement that usually is a verse or a famous quotation. It is used as an opening sentence for the essay.

For Example

After the introduction, the body of the essay starts. The body paragraphs make the body of an essay. For a 500-word essay, particularly, there are usually 4-6 paragraphs.

Each paragraph discusses a key element and provides the required evidence to give it a logical sense.

Like the body paragraph of any other essay, the paragraphs of the 500-word essay start with a topic sentence. This sentence acts as an introduction to the paragraph.

Each paragraph should end with a transition sentence to show a connection with the upcoming part.

Make sure that such a body paragraph is meaningful yet in a comprehensive form.

Here is a sample body paragraph to help you craft a winning 500-word essay

A conclusion paragraph is the extract of the whole essay. The writing skills of a writer are judged by the way they conclude an essay.

Writing the conclusion is the most complicated part of essay writing. To write a good conclusion, the writer must logically summarize all the key elements and reiterate the thesis statement.

Whatever is mentioned in the conclusion should give the reader a sense of closure and completion.

Let's continue with the cell phone example for a better understanding of the conclusion phase.

500 Word Vs. 250 Word Essay

500-word scholarship essays provide you with a significantly greater degree of writing freedom than 250-word ones. When you're given fewer words, it can be tricky to express your views in concise and effective phrases without sacrificing clarity.

With 500 words at hand though, you have ample space to make sure that all the facets of your opinion are expressed - yet don't need footnotes and cited resources as often!

500 Word Essay Vs. 1000 Word Essay

The length of a 500-word essay and a 1000-word essay is quite different.

While a 500-word essay may not require much outside research or citations, it still requires more focus and organization than a 1000-word essay.

A 1000-word essay requires far more time and effort to write than a 500-word essay. Plus, it requires you to be more thorough in your research, analysis, and composition. It will also require you to use a greater degree of critical thinking skills when making arguments.

Additionally, a 1000-word essay may call for the use of outside sources to support points or draw conclusions. Thus, writing a 1000-word essay can be a much more challenging task than writing a 500-word essay.

How to Write a 500-word Essay?

Writing a 500-word essay is a very simple task to do. But things might get complicated if you do not follow a standard way of writing.

The following are the steps you should consider while writing a 500-word essay.

Before you start writing an essay, the first thing you should do is to understand the requirements provided by your instructor.

Understanding the requirements will help you to complete your essay without any mess and up to the mark. Proceeding according to the requirements will keep you composed through the essay writing process.

Once you have understood all the requirements, the next step is to think of some interesting ideas. Brainstorming helps you to use the creativity of your mind, especially when it comes to essay writing.

Note down all the elements that you come up with within your mind. Make a rough list of all the ideas and later on organize them to compose an effective essay.

After you have understood all the instructions and spent enough time brainstorming different ideas, it is time you choose a topic.

Always choose a unique and interesting topic. A good topic is highly responsible for making your essay attractive. Also, try that you have selected a topic that is not overdone. An overdone and repetitive topic would make your audience boring.

For a 500-word essay, a topic must be very interesting as you have to make the essay interesting within a very limited word count. Make sure that you choose such a topic about which you can easily collect evidence and facts to support it and make it stronger.

Conducting research on the selected topic is an essential part of essay writing. The research will help you collect all the relevant information that is necessary to make your essay stronger.

Also, researching a topic will make the writing process very smooth for you as you will have all the information that is needed for the essay.

Collect all information only from reliable sources as you don’t want to misguide your audience.

The outline is an element of an essay that can save time, make things easy, and earn a better grade.

Just write down all the main features and arguments you want to discuss in your 500-word essay. This will help you to get back on track if you forget the things you wanted to write about.

Moreover, your essay will always be structured and clear, so the audience will read it easily and will follow your thoughts without any challenges.

Since you have your topic and all the information related to the topic thus, you are all set to start writing your essay.

Essay writing starts with writing an introduction. As you are writing an essay of 500 words, an introduction should have only one paragraph. In that paragraph, you should explain the main topic and its importance and also the thesis statement.

After introducing the topic, state the body paragraph, and explain all the key elements in it. Usually, there are three body paragraphs in such essays to explain different key elements.

Don’t forget to add transition words, which will make the text smooth and readable. Also, ensure that you use the standard font styles, preferably Arial or Times New Roman.

The same as an introduction, your conclusion should be one paragraph long. Summarize all the key elements in a very precise way and do not add any new points.

Devoting some extra time to proofreading, revision, and editing can make your essay a whole lot better.

This is the simplest thing to do, but most students still skip it and make the biggest mistake. Proofreading ensures that there are no mistakes left behind in your document.

Always make sure that you revise your essay at least once and do the required editing.

Essay on Indian Education System for Students and Children

500+ words essay on indian education system for students and children.

The Indian education system is quite an old education system that still exists. It has produced so many genius minds that are making India proud all over the world. However, while it is one of the oldest systems, it is still not that developed when compared to others, which are in fact newer. This is so as the other countries have gone through growth and advancement, but the Indian education system is still stuck in old age. It faces a lot of problems that need to be sorted to let it reach its full potential.

Essay on Indian Education System

Problems with Indian Education System

Our Indian education system faces a lot of problems that do not let it prosper and help other children succeed in life . The biggest problem which it has to face is the poor grading system. It judges the intelligence of a student on the basis of academics which is in the form of exam papers. That is very unfair to students who are good in their overall performance but not that good at specific subjects.

Moreover, they only strive to get good marks not paying attention to understanding what is taught. In other words, this encourages getting good marks through mugging up and not actually grasping the concept efficiently.

Furthermore, we see how the Indian education system focuses on theory more. Only a little percentage is given for practical. This makes them run after the bookish knowledge and not actually applying it to the real world. This practice makes them perplexed when they go out in the real world due to lack of practical knowledge.

Most importantly, the Indian education system does not emphasize enough on the importance of sports and arts. Students are always asked to study all the time where they get no time for other activities like sports and arts.

How Can We Improve Indian Education System?

As the Indian Education System is facing so many problems, we need to come up with effective solutions so it improves and creates a brighter future for students . We can start by focusing on the skill development of the students. The schools and colleges must not only focus on the ranks and grades but on the analytical and creative skills of children.

In addition, subjects must not be merely taught theoretically but with practical. This will help in a better understanding of the subject without them having to mug up the whole thing due to lack of practical knowledge. Also, the syllabus must be updated with the changing times and not follow the old age pattern.

Other than that, the government and private colleges must now increase the payroll of teachers. As they clearly deserve more than what they offer. To save money, the schools hire teachers who are not qualified enough. This creates a very bad classroom environment and learning. They must be hired if they are fit for the job and not because they are working at a lesser salary.

In conclusion, the Indian education system must change for the better. It must give the students equal opportunities to shine better in the future. We need to let go of the old and traditional ways and enhance the teaching standards so our youth can get create a better world.

Essay on Lack of Education

Students are often asked to write an essay on Lack of Education in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on Lack of Education

The importance of education.

Education is a fundamental right, yet many children worldwide lack access to it. This deprivation creates a cycle of poverty and ignorance.

Effects of Lack of Education

Without education, individuals struggle to break free from poverty. They lack the skills needed for better employment, leading to social and economic inequality.

Improving Access to Education

To address this, governments and organizations should invest in education. This includes building schools in remote areas, providing free education, and ensuring a safe learning environment.

Education is essential for personal and societal growth. Let’s work together to ensure everyone gets this basic right.

250 Words Essay on Lack of Education

The implications of lack of education.

Education, a fundamental human right, is the bedrock of social and economic development. Its absence, however, is a critical global concern that impedes progress.

Impact on Individual Growth

The lack of education affects individual growth significantly. It limits opportunities, hinders skill development, and confines individuals to low-income jobs. This, in turn, perpetuates a cycle of poverty, as a lack of financial resources further restricts access to education.

Societal Consequences

On a societal level, the lack of education fuels inequality and social division. It creates a chasm between the educated and uneducated, leading to an imbalanced society where power and resources are unevenly distributed.

Economic Ramifications

Economically, nations with high illiteracy rates often struggle with stagnant economic growth. Inadequate education results in a lack of skilled labor, which is crucial for technological advancement and economic diversification.

The Role of Policy

Addressing the lack of education requires comprehensive, inclusive policies. Governments should invest in education infrastructure, teacher training, and scholarship programs. Furthermore, policies should target marginalized groups, ensuring equal access to education for all.

To conclude, the lack of education is a multifaceted issue with far-reaching implications. It’s an obstacle to individual, societal, and economic progress. Therefore, it’s imperative to prioritize education in policy-making to foster a more equitable and prosperous world.

500 Words Essay on Lack of Education

Education is a fundamental human right, serving as a powerful tool in developing our societies. It opens doors to opportunities, promotes individual and societal growth, and forms the foundation for a prosperous future. However, many around the world are still deprived of this basic right, resulting in a lack of education.

Consequences of Lack of Education

The lack of education has far-reaching implications. It perpetuates cycles of poverty, reduces economic productivity, and hampers social development. Without education, individuals are often left without the skills needed to navigate the world, limiting their ability to secure decent employment and contribute meaningfully to society.

Moreover, education is crucial for promoting social and cultural values, fostering critical thinking, and encouraging civic participation. In its absence, societies risk being fragmented, with reduced social cohesion and increased susceptibility to conflict and instability.

The Root Causes

Several factors contribute to the lack of education. Poverty is a significant barrier, with many families unable to afford school fees or needing their children to work. Inadequate infrastructure, particularly in rural areas, is another obstacle. Many communities lack access to schools, while others have poorly equipped or understaffed schools.

Discrimination also plays a role, with girls and children from marginalized groups often facing additional barriers to education. These include cultural norms that devalue their education, early marriage, and the threat of violence or harassment at school.

The Role of Government and Global Community

Addressing the lack of education requires concerted efforts from governments, non-governmental organizations, and the global community. Governments must prioritize education in their national budgets, enact policies to ensure all children can access and complete quality education, and address discrimination and other barriers to education.

The global community can support these efforts by providing financial aid, sharing best practices, and holding governments accountable for their commitments to education. Non-governmental organizations can also play a crucial role by implementing programs that address specific barriers to education, such as providing scholarships for girls or building schools in underserved areas.

In conclusion, the lack of education is a significant global issue with far-reaching implications. It is a complex problem with multiple causes, requiring a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach. By prioritizing education and working together, we can ensure that all individuals have the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to their communities and the world at large. The time to act is now; the future of our world depends on it.
