SSC CGL 2022 Syllabus: Tier I, II, III, & IV Full Syllabus - Downlaod

Candidates willing to take the SSC CGL examination to become government employees are advised to have command over the SSC CGL 2022 syllabus. The exam will be conducted for the recruitment of Tax Assistant, Assistant Accounts Officer, Inspector (Preventive Officer), Assistant Section Officer, Sub-Inspector, Assistants Inspector Assistant/Superintendent Inspector (Central Excise), Auditor, Jr. Statistical Officer, Assistant Audit Officer, Inspector of Posts, Inspector (Examiner), Assistant Enforcement Officer, Accountant/Junior Accountant, Sr. Secretariat Assistant, and Divisional Accountant.

The SSC CGL 2022 preliminary exam (Tier-II and III) will be conducted in August 2022. The application form for SSC CGL 2021-22 has been released on 23rd December 2021. The last date to apply for SSC CGL 2021 application form was 23rd January 2022.

SSC CGL 2022 Tier III Syllabus:

This section indulges candidates in writing essays, applications, précis, and letters. This is a descriptive type exam, which tests the written ability of the applicants. The test will be done in both Hindi and English languages. Candidates will have 60 minutes in total. Those who belong to other reserved categories like PwD will have 80 minutes to complete the test. This particular section is designed for candidates interested in ‘Compiler’ and ‘Statistical Investigator Grade II’ posts.

SSC CGL 2022 Tier IV Syllabus:

The Tier-IV exam will comprise the DEST (Data Entry Speed Test) and CPT (Computer Proficiency Test).

Note: It is to notify all the SSC CGL 2021-22  aspirants that the Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III of the exam are compulsory for all the posts. The SSC CGL Tier-IV exam is conducted for Tax Assistants, Assistant Section officers in MEA, CSS & AFHQ, assistants (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines, Assistants in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner), & Inspector (Central Excise) in CBIC.

Candidates preparing for the English Language subject of the SSC CGL Exam 2024 should go through this article to be aware of the SSC CGL English Syllabus 2024 and topic wise weightage of this section.

The English Language is one of the most popular mediums of communication around the world. Its importance and significance have also been on a constant rise in the official correspondence among the various branches of the Indian government.

The Staff Selection Commission is responsible for recruiting various Group B and C posts in multiple government ministries and departments through the Combined Graduate Level Exam. SSC CGL English Syllabus 2024

The official notification for the SSC CGL 2024 released every year contains the detailed syllabus of each subject for both levels of the exam. The syllabus for the English Language in Tier 1 exam is indicative in nature and suggests that the candidates should have an overall understanding of the language. However, the syllabus in Tier 2 provides all the topics that are to be asked in the exam. In this section let us look at the SSC CGL English Syllabus 2024 for each stage of the exam one by one.

SSC CGL English Syllabus 2024 Tier 1

The syllabus for the English Language section of the Tier 1 exam says ” Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested.” This does not provide any specific topics that shall be asked in the exam. SSC CGL English Syllabus 2024 Tier 2

The official notification for the SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam provides the different topics of the English Language and comprehension section of the paper. As per the exam pattern, the English Language section carries 30 questions worth 90 marks. The topics as mentioned in the SSC CGL Tier 2 English Syllabus 2024 are as follows:

• Vocabulary – Synonyms, antonyms and their correct usage, Homonyms, One-word substitution
• Grammar – Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Sentence structure, Spot the Errors, Fill in the Blanks Spellings/ Detecting, Misspelled words, Conversion into Direct/ Indirect narration, Improvement of Sentence
• Para jumbles
• Cloze Passage
• Comprehension Passage.

To test comprehension, three or more paragraphs will be given and questions based on those will be asked. At least one paragraph should be a simple one based on a book or a story and the other two paragraphs should be on current affairs, based on a report or an editorial.

SSC CGL English Syllabus 2024 Topic Wise Weightage

As we can see above, the English language section of the Tier 1 and Tier 2 level exams contains a large number of topics. The number of questions asked from these topics is almost the same each year. In the table below, let us look at the topic-wise weightage for the SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam.

SSC CGL English Syllabus 2024 Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam consists of 100 questions that account for a total of 200 marks. These questions are equally distributed among 4 subjects i.e. General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language. Is there any negative marking in the SSC CGL TIER 1 examination?

Yes, there will a negative marking of 0.50 marks of every wrong answer.

When will the SSC CGL Notification 2024 be released?

The SSC CGL Notification 2024 will be released on 11th June 2024 at ssc.gov.in.

What is the weightage of the English Language section in the SSC CGL Exam 2024?

The English Language section carries 25 questions out of 100 in Tier 1 and 30 out of 130 questions in Tier 2 of the SSC CGL Exam 2024.
