Semesterbeitrag / Gebühren
Der Semesterbeitrag beträgt aktuell 180 Euro pro Semester (beinhaltet Beitrag für Studierendenwerk, Verwaltungsgebühr und Beitrag für verfasste Studierendenschaft).
Studiengebühren werden erhoben für Internationale Studierende aus nicht-EU Staaten ( 1.500 Euro pro Semester) sowie für Absolventen eines Zweitstudiums ( 650 Euro pro Semester). Informationen dazu und mögliche Ausnahmeregelungen finden Sie im Studierendenportal .
Bewerbungsfristen:
Der reguläre Bewerbungsschluss ist 15. Juli für das Wintersemester und 15. Januar für das Sommersemester.
Etwa in den ein bis zwei Wochen nach Ende der Bewerbungsfrist tagt die Zulassungskommission und entscheidet über die Zulassung. Wir bemühen uns bei auswärtigen Bewerbungen umgehend per e-mail über die Entscheidung zu informieren. Die Zulassungsbescheide für Bildungsinländer werden in der Regel innerhalb kurzer Zeit vom Studierendensekretariat verschickt.

Zur Bewerbung nutzen Sie bitte das Bewerberportal der Uni Freiburg: Als externer Bewerber führen Sie zunächst eine Selbstregistrierung durch und können anschließend Ihre Bewerbung erstellen. Als eingeschriebener Student der Uni Freiburg gehen Sie über "Studienangebot" → "Studienbewerbung".
Geben Sie dort Ihre Informationen ein und laden Sie die angeforderten Dokumente hoch. Um die Bewerbung zu finalisieren, drucken Sie das Bestätigungsformular aus, unterschreiben dieses und laden einen Scan davon im Portal hoch. Folgende Unterlagen müssen hochgeladen werden:
- Beglaubigte Kopie des Bachelor-Abschlusses
- Vollständige Übersicht der Studien- und Prüfungsleistungen (Transcript of Records)
- Nachweis englischer Sprachkenntnisse (Niveau B2), z.B. IELTS, TOEFL oder deutsches Hochschulreifezeugnis (Abitur)
- Nachweis deutscher Sprachkenntnisse (Niveau B1); entfällt bei Muttersprachlern (Nachweis kann bis spätestens Ende des 2. Fachsemesters noch nachgereicht werden. In diesem Fall erfolgt Zulassung unter dieser Auflage.)
- Motivationsschreiben (Motivation Letter), in dem Sie Ihre persönlichen Beweggründe für die Aufnahme dieses Studiengangs darstellen (höchstens eine DIN-A4-Seite)

Zulassungsvoraussetzungen:
Rechtlich bindend ist allein die Zulassungsordnung . Siehe hierzu auch die Informationsseite zum Studiengang im Studienportal mit aktuellen Lesefassungen der Prüfungs- und Zulassungsordnung.
Zulassungsvoraussetzungen sind:
- Allgemeine Hochschulreife oder anerkannte Hochschulzugangsberechtigung.
- In Deutschland anerkannter Bachelor-Abschluss in Physik oder gleichwertiger Abschluss, der folgende Bedingungen erfüllt:
- Mindestens 32 ECTS-Punkte aus fachwissenschaftlichen Lehrveranstaltungen in Theoretischer Physik (Mechanik, Elektromagnetismus, Quantenphysik, Thermodynamik/Statistische Physik)
- Mindestens 32 ECTS-Punkte aus fachwissenschaftlichen Lehrveranstaltungen in Experimenteller Physik (Mechanik, Wärmelehre, Elektromagnetismus, Optik, Struktur der Materie)
- Mindestens 24 ECTS-Punkte aus fachwissenschaftlichen Lehrveranstaltungen in Mathematik (Analysis, Lineare Algebra)
- Mindestens 18 ECTS-Punkte aus physikalischen Praktika (Anfänger-, Fortgeschrittenen-Praktikum)
- Eine Bachelor-Arbeit in Physik (mindestens 10 ECTS-Punkte).
- Der Abschluss muss zum Zeitpunkt der Bewerbung noch nicht vorliegen, spätestens aber zum Zeitpunkt der Einschreibung.
- Sprachkenntnisse: Niveau B2 in Englisch Für Bildungsinländer reicht ein deutsches Abitur oder ein deutscher Hochschulabschluss als Nachweis.
- In keinem Master- oder Diplomstudiengang in Physik darf der Prüfungsanspruch verloren sein.
Über die inhaltliche Gleichwertigkeit anderer Abschlüsse sowie über Ausnahmen von einzelnen Bedingungen entscheidet die Zulassungskommission. Vor der Sitzung der Zulassungskommission können keine verbindlichen Aussagen gemacht werden.
Über die juristische Gleichwertigkeit anderer Abschlüsse entscheidet IAS auf Grundlage der gesetzlichen Bestimmungen bzw. der Abkommen mit anderen Staaten.

Studieninhalt
Studienverlauf.
Die Regelstudiendauer des Master Physics beträgt 4 Semester und gliedert sich in zwei jeweils einjährige Abschnitte, die fachliche Vertiefungsphase und die anschliessende Forschungsphase .
Wohingegen der Verlauf der Forschungsphase durch die beiden jeweils 6-monatigen Modulteile Research Traineeship und Master Thesis fest vorgegeben ist, kann die Belegung der Veranstaltungen während der fachlichen Vertiefung relativ flexibel gestaltet werden.
Bei Beginn zum Wintersemester empfiehlt sich folgender Musterstudienverlauf. Bei Beginn zu Sommersemester sind die Inhalte in den ersten beiden Studiensemestern vertauscht.
Vertiefungsphase (1.-2. Semester):
Die Vertiefungsphase dient dem Erarbeiten der für eine eigenständige produktive Arbeit in der Physik notwendigen fortgeschrittenen Kenntnisse. Durch eine vom wissenschaftlichen Profil des Fachbereichs Physik geprägte Spezialausbildung in mehreren Teilfächern der Physik können sich die Absolventen auf bestimmte zukünftige Förschungsbereiche gezielt vorbereiten.
Die fortgeschrittenen Kenntnisse werden vermittelt in den Modulen Advanced Quantum Mechanics (theoretische Grundlagen der fortgeschrittenen Physik) und Master Laboratory (experimentelle Grundlagen der fortgeschrittenen Physik), sowie in den Advanced Physics Vorlesungen und im Term Paper (Seminar). Dabei können die Veranstaltungen nach dem jeweiligen Interesse gewählt werden, um sich gezielt auf bestimmte Teilgebieten der Physik vorzubereiten. Entsprechende Vorlesungen und Seminare werden jedes Semester von den Dozenten der einzelnen Forschungsschwerpunkte angeboten und spiegeln dadurch des Forschungsprofil am Physikalischen Institut wieder.
Das Modul Elective Subject ermölicht das Belegen einer weiteren passenden Veranstaltung, kann aber auch frei, etwa zum Einblick in ein fortgeschrittenes Thema eines anderen Faches verwendet werden.
Forschungsphase (3.-4. Semester)
Die Forschungsphase dient dem Erlernen selbständigen wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens. Diese Phase ist unterteilt in das Modul Research Traineeship , in dem die wissenschaftliche Einarbeitung in die Thematik der Arbeit geschehen soll, und der Master Thesis . In der abschließenden Master-Arbeit wird selbständige wissenschaftliche Tätigkeit verbunden mit dem Erwerb von zu- sätzlichen Schluüsselqualifikationen wie zum Beispiel dem Projektmanagement, der Teamarbeit sowie der Darstellung und Präsentation wissenschaftlicher Ergebnisse.
