An excellent airline,service is excellent. Staff are very very good and very attentive.

Center seat good if sitting next to someone in 19K. Not as good as the Q seats. But the A380 has the bar to make up for it!

The seats are comfortable with enough leg room and has wings on head rest, the crew were very polite and helpful, to be honest I did not like the food and online entertainment compared with Emirates but the seats were better then Emirates, through out the flights the toilets were always clean, the plane noise was quite and we enjoyed the flight.

This was a great seat. The plane was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. I LOVE Qatar Airlines.

We were trying to buy upgrade without success even though there were empty seats in business class ????????

I was pleasantly surprised with the economy seats on this large plane as I usually fly premium economy & was worried about such a long flight in economy. The seats & legroom was good - the staff were fantastic, just as good as I have experienced in business class.

Perfect for a family of 4. Annoying the arm rests didn’t fold back as far as the seats recline, but this is consistent with other aircraft. The seat pockets were small but useable. Toilets spotless. USB point is great. Coat hanger button, but does it really need to be there🤷🏽‍♂️.

First time flying Qatar, 5 hr delay leaving Melbourne, phone call received 2hrs after checkin. Another 2 hr delay at Doha, boarded at approximately 11.30am, an announcement at 12.45( original departure time) security check of cargo hold. Left sitting on the plane ( no further info) until take off to London at 1.55 pm. Not a good look for “airline of the year”

This was a comfortable flight with great facilities/amenities. The toilets were well maintained and the service was very good. The chicken & rice dish I had was delicious. It would be nice to have sugar free jam available and less sugar in berries etc

The great thing about row 75 is that it's an extra legroom/emerency exit aisle so nobody is seated in front of you. That gives you unlimited legroom and the opportunity for a comfortable night's rest. Tuned in to the excellent Qatar entertainment programmes it's possible to drown out the noise of restless babies from time to time in the centre bulkhead seats one row back. Although seated behind the wing their is very little noise from the engines. Altogether an excellent 14 hour flight !

Business Class full. Staff a little too attentive. To be asked once if everything OK is enough. I was asked 5 times !!

This was my first flight with Qatar and it won't be the last. The staff were friendly, attentive and faultless. The seat was comfortable and spacious for me. The only disappointment was the main course. The lamb was so tough I couldn't even cut it. I noticed another passenger with the same issue. All other food was great. The staff offered other options (which I didn't take) and they were most apologetic. Toilets could probably have done with a more detailed clean before the flight as handles felts sticky. They were regularly serviced throughout the flight so I think it was a ground crew issue. All in all. I would recommend Qatar without question

Excellent service can't be faulted compared to my last Lufthansa flight. Very polite and never a problem. The only con would be that for a 14hr flight the hardness of the seat should be investigated. But with the A380 it will soon be out of service but it's replacement should consider our backsides.

Everything excellent but found the Business Class service better on the smaller planes, less people for staff to caterfor. This time no sheet was made up on the mattress, the lounge area was magnificent as was all the meals.

Quite a few seats were difficult to recline/straighten. I broke a thumbnail because I had to lift out of my seat and press the button with BOTH my thumbnails before the flight attendant had to push it from behind...other passengers had the same problem. The next leg to Dublin the plane was smaller and I spent 8 hours getting shoved and elbowed and disturbed by passengers and attendants - the aisle space is too narrow! The aisle seats leg space is vastly reduced because of the metal box! No foot room!

Great seats , second row back near gallery so quick service, same with toilets. Comfortable, easy to use , would fly Qatar again staff awesome , the bar is great , can stay down there for ages

Limited recline and location of the lavatories behind are the main disadvantages of the seats 61DEFG, 62ABC and 62HJK .

Behind the exit row the third section of economy class seats is located. Thanks to the exit row located in front the seats of the 63rd row have extra legroom. Other passengers tend to congregate in the area of these seats in order to visit lavatories causing discomfort to passengers.

The best seat is considered the seat 68D . As there is no seat in front, the legroom space is larger. However, there is no floor storage for this seat during take-off and landing and the width is slightly reduced as TV and tray table are in the armrests making them immovable.

Proximity of the galleys may cause inconvenience to passengers of the seats of the 73rd and 74th rows (except the seats 73D and 73G). Another disadvantage of the seats 73ABC, 73 HJK and 74DEFG is limited recline.

The fourth section of economy class seats is located behind another exit row. The seats 75ABC and 75HJK offer extra legroom. At the same time close location of the galleys may be bothersome.

Restricted space for passengers’ legs and location of the galleys in front are the main disadvantages of the seats 76DEFG .

Passenger tend to congregate in the area of the seats 82C, 82 DEFG, 82H and of the seats of the 83th row while waiting to visit lavatories and thus causing discomfort to passengers of these seats. Limited recline makes the seats 82DEFG, 83 ABC and 83HJK bad seats.

How to unlock the best Qantas seats using the ‘T-80’ rule

Want to snare a great seat at the front of the plane on your next Qantas flight but don’t have the Platinum or Gold status which unlocks those first few rows?

There’s a simple and completely free way to gain access to the full Qantas seat map, and without paying extra for those better seats.

Known as the Qantas T-80 rule , or sometimes just as the ‘Qantas seat selection hack’ it’s a favoured trick of savvy travellers.

How the Qantas seat selection map works

The Qantas T-80 rule (which isn't really a formal ‘rule’ per se)  gets its name from the fact that Qantas usually opens up its full advance seat selection map 80 hours before each flight.

From the moment that flights go on sale all the way up to that 80 hour mark, Qantas sets aside the front rows of economy for its most important frequent flyers, so they can enjoy prize pick of the seats during the seat selection process.

For example, on Qantas’ workhorse Boeing 737 which dominates domestic routes along with short overseas hops to New Zealand, Bali and Noumea, the first two rows of economy – including row 4, which is blessed with plenty of legroom to stretch out – are visible only to Platinum One frequent flyers and Chairman’s Lounge members.

For everybody else, those rows on the Qantas seat selection map are greyed out and inaccessible, even if nobody has actually selected those seats.

In the same way, Platinum, Gold and Silver frequent flyers have a few rows per tier set aside for their own seat selection, with those rows appearing in grey to any traveller holding lower status (Golds might not be able to choose any seat ahead of row 7, for example).

But this all changes 80 hours before the flight departs – or, in airline parlance, T-80 .

80 hours before your flight departs, Qantas opens up the entire seat map for all passengers.

This includes every seat not already reserved in those sought-after front rows, which until the 80-hour mark have been exclusively available to elite frequent flyers.

(One exception is that Platinum Ones booked into economy may have the seat next to them marked as unavailable so that it remains empty – something which frequent flyers call a ‘shadow’.)

The upshot: even a low-ranking Qantas Bronze or Silver can snare one of the better economy seats near the front of the plane – and while apart from the first row they might have no more legroom, if you travel only with cabin bags you’ll be quicker off the plane and on you way.

There are many benefits to being near the front of the plane, even in economy.

You’ll also find the cabin crew take your meal order sooner rather than later, minimising the likelihood that you’ll miss out on your preferred meal.

However, because the Qantas T-80 rule is a favourite of many frequent flyers, you’ll want to log on to the Qantas website or app’s Manage My Booking screen and make your new seat selection as soon after the T-80 mark as possible.

Calculating your T-80 timeline

To work out when the Qantas T-80 rule kicks in for your flight, just subtract 80 hours from the departure time.

In practical terms, that’s three days prior (72 hours) plus another eight hours – so if your Qantas flight departs at 4.55pm on a Monday, to find out when its T-80 seat selection map will open up

Tip: set an alarm on your phone for a little before that, allowing time to log onto the Manage My Booking page with your booking or voucher reference, so you won’t miss out. 

The best Qantas economy seats for your T-80 seat selection

As previously mentioned, row 4 on the Qantas Boeing 737 is the winning choice for its extra legroom (and you could find yourself rubbing shoulders with a VIP Chairman’s Lounge member).

The equivalent rows on the Qantas A330 are 23 and 45, each of which is facing the cabin’s bulkhead wall; on a Qantas 787, shoot for a seat in row 40 or 46.

Using Qantas T-80 for an ‘upgrade’ to premium economy

Here’s another handy Qantas seat selection trick, courtesy of the T-80 rule.

Qantas sometimes flies its international Boeing 787 Dreamliner on short domestic legs. The Dreamliner includes a cosy premium economy cabin of 28 seats spread across rows 20 through 23.

The T-80 trick can also snare you a free upgrade to premium economy on some domestic Qantas flights.

Domestic Qantas 787 routes don’t list premium economy seats for sale – you’ll see only business class and economy – but the premium economy cabin can become available as an economy seat selection option at T-80.

Log in at the right time, check the Qantas seat selection map and if you see a seat on your Boeing 787 flight in row 20-23, click on it to enjoy a wider seat with more legroom and comfort than the standard economy seat – even if it’s just for a few hours.

I'm platinum and have regularly used this for myself however I have tried on multiple occasions for my mother and partner (both bronze) in the past 6 or so months (including a flight tomorrow) to get "better" seats at T-80 and right up to departure from there but for some reason as soon as 80hrs kicks in, it changes from seat map selection to preference dropdown selection and the seatmap is no longer visible... any ideas about this? TIA

Another way to do the calculation is just to set the alarm for your calendar appointment  to 80 hours before. You can also type “80 hours before 6:55am on Monday the 17th” into Wolfram Alpha.

Business class is an airline class above economy and premium economy classes with upgraded amenities, service, and seating. While business class is a significant upgrade over said economy, or the slightly cushier premium economy, it is still a step below the top-of-the-line first class on A320-200 V.1 when available.

When you purchase an economy class ticket on A320-200 V.1, it means you are sitting in the main cabin, and not located in first or business class. Seats are smaller and packed more closely together, and in-flight services are limited. Economy class seats on domestic routes usually have a seat pitch ranging from a very tight 27 to a generous 32 inches (68.5 - 81 cm).

Passengers seated in business class on A320-200 V.2 can expect to enjoy a selection of premium meals and beverages. These are usually vastly superior to those offered in economy class which may not include free meals at all on some flights. In economy class: Exit rows, aisle or window seats, and anywhere close to the front are typically considered the best seats on board. On a short business trip, you might want an aisle seat near the front of the plane so you can disembark as quickly as possible upon arrival.
