If you already have your work experience listed on your LinkedIn profile, it's easy to get the site to automatically generate a resume for you. Here's how to do it.

All LinkedIn profiles include a button to download the profile as a PDF . This PDF is basically your resume, containing all the experiences you've listed on LinkedIn. This includes your academics, work experiences, and everything else that you have on your profile.

To download this quick resume, first, open LinkedIn in a web browser on your computer. When LinkedIn opens, click your profile icon at the top of the site and select "View Profile."

On the profile page, right beneath your profile picture, click the "More" option, and select "Save to PDF."

In a few moments, your browser will start downloading your resume PDF from LinkedIn.

That's all there is to generating a quick automatic resume from LinkedIn, but you might not want to send it exactly as it is to potential employers. In that case, check out the section below.

The resume that you downloaded above includes all the information that you have on your LinkedIn profile. If you want to add, edit, or delete certain sections of the resume, use LinkedIn's resume creation tool. It lets you choose what sections you want to include in or exclude from your resume. When you're happy with the result, you can download it as a PDF to your computer.

To start building your custom resume, open LinkedIn in your web browser. On LinkedIn, click your profile icon at the top-right corner and select "View Profile."

On the profile page, in the section at the top, select "More," and then click "Build a resume." This launches LinkedIn's resume creation tool in your browser.

In the "Select a Resume" pop-up that appears, click the "Create From Profile" button at the bottom.

In the following box that says "Choose your desired job title," click the "Job Title" box, and then enter your current job title. Then, select a title from the suggested options and click "Apply" at the bottom.

You're now on LinkedIn's resume creation tool screen. Here, you can add and exclude whatever information you want in your resume. To add or remove a section in your resume, click the pencil icon next to a section on the page.

The site will open a box with your selected section in it. Here, you can modify the contents of your section and click "Save" at the bottom of the box to save your changes. Or, you can click "Delete" to remove this section from your resume altogether.

When you've finished editing your resume, click "Preview" at the top of the LinkedIn site to preview your resume.

If you're happy with the result, click "More" at the top of the LinkedIn site, and then select "Download as PDF." This will download your resume as a PDF to your computer.

You're all set.

In addition to the ability to download your own resume, you can also download other LinkedIn members' resumes. You don't need to be connected with a member to be able to download their resume, but there's a limit of 200 downloads for others' resumes. (You can download your own resume an unlimited number of times, though.)

To download someone's profile, first, open their profile on LinkedIn . On the profile page, right beneath the cover image (the large image at the top of the page), click the "More" option, and then select "Save to PDF."

Your browser will start downloading a PDF resume of your selected LinkedIn member.

Log into your LinkedIn profile

On the upper middle to right side of the LinkedIn navigation, click on the “Me” icon

From the menu that appears, click on “View Profile”

Select “Edit public profile & URL” from the top right corner, which will take you to your public profile settings

Click on the pencil icon below and to the right of “Edit your custom URL”

Customize the last part of the URL where you can enter information and click “Save”

LinkedIn allows you to customize your URL with 3 to 100 numbers or letters. When choosing what to use for the customized aspect, first remove any random string of text or numbers following your name. If your name alone isn't available, the next best option is to use a variation of your name that is still recognizable and professional. Where to include a LinkedIn URL on your resume

You're likely not surprised to learn that your LinkedIn URL should go at the top of your resume with your contact information . It's typically the last piece of contact information you'll include, following your phone number and email address.

When sending your resume by email, it's also wise to include your hyperlinked LinkedIn URL in your email signature. This offers easy access to your LinkedIn profile before the recruiter or hiring manager even looks at your resume. It's a good idea to include your LinkedIn URL in the contact information section of your cover letter , too.

How to put your LinkedIn URL on your resume

When listing your LinkedIn URL:

You don't need to include the "https://www." at the beginning. Only listing the rest of the URL is sufficient - for example, linkedin.com/in/karenjohnson22

You don't need to include a LinkedIn label for the URL - the employer will know what the URL is referencing since all LinkedIn URLs begin with "linkedin.com/in/" 

Hyperlink the URL in electronic versions of your resume

On the rare occasion that you might mail a hard copy of your resume, be sure the URL is easily legible and remove the hyperlink

When not to include a LinkedIn URL on your resume

It's clear that putting LinkedIn on your resume adds value in most instances. However, there are a few scenarios where you shouldn't include LinkedIn on your resume. 

Don't include your LinkedIn URL if:

You haven't customized your LinkedIn URL. As mentioned earlier, not customizing your URL might make you appear lazy to recruiters and hiring managers. Since the LinkedIn-generated URL also tends to be long and odd-looking, it could be distracting to human readers vs. adding value the way you want it to.

Your profile is out-of-date and incomplete. Again, it's imperative that your LinkedIn profile is current and complete if you're in the job market and share your URL on your resume.

You don't feel good about your profile. Even if your LinkedIn profile is current, if you don't feel good about it or don't feel it represents you in the best light possible, don't include the URL on your resume. Instead, wait until you've made the updates and changes that make you want to share it. With that said, since employers tend to look you up even if you don't include your URL, try to make those changes with thoughtful consideration sooner rather than later - especially if you're currently applying for jobs. How to add LinkedIn Learning to your resume

Include it in your Certifications section. The most obvious place to include a LinkedIn Learning certificate is in your list of certifications, if you include such a section on your resume. 

Share it in your Education section . Suppose LinkedIn Learning is your only certification or additional training beyond your education. In that case, you can choose to list it with your education. For this scenario, some good naming conventions for the section are “Education & Certifications” or “Education & Credentials.”   

Reference it in your resume summary. You might mention your LinkedIn Learning certificate in your resume summary , if it helps to fill in any skills gaps you have or if you lack relevant work experience for the position.

Add it to your skills or competencies list. If you don't need to emphasize your LinkedIn Learning training in your summary, or are forgoing a Certifications section on your resume, then you can opt to list it in your skills or competencies list. 

LinkedIn on your resume is expected

In today's world, employers expect to see your LinkedIn URL on your resume. Be sure to include your personalized URL with your contact information and, simultaneously, ensure your LinkedIn profile is professionally written and up to date. Hiring managers will thank you!

• Select  Save to PDF  from the drop-down menu, and your profile will be saved to your computer. You can open it, then print.

Convert Your Resume to a Word Document or Google Doc

The PDF version of your resume can be converted to a Google Doc or a Microsoft Word Document for editing.

Keep in mind that you'll most likely need to edit the formatting to turn it into a traditional resume. There are several options for converting it, including using  Adobe PDF to Word Converter , uploading the PDF file and then  opening it as a Google Doc , or  editing it in Microsoft Word .

There are also sites and apps that you can use to convert your profile into a professional resume for a fee.

• Get detailed . When creating your profile, include all of the information that you list on your resume, and more. One benefit of a LinkedIn profile is that it can be longer than your resume. If you left any information out of your resume (such as a previous job), you can put it in your profile. However, don’t get carried away. If your profile is several pages long, no one is going to read it.
• Add a professional photo . Unlike a resume, which often does not include a photo, LinkedIn users expect you to include a photo. Include a  professional headshot . You can also change the background image to make it appropriate to your interests. Don't include a photo that's too casual. LinkedIn is all about professional networking, not socializing with your friends and family.
• Include a catchy and concise headline.  Even if you don’t have a  resume headline , include a headline on your LinkedIn profile. You want to make it concise and catchy. For example, instead of “Teacher with 10 Years of Experience,” try “High-Tech, Award-Winning Physics Teacher.” If you don’t currently have a job, here are tips on  how to write a headline when you are unemployed .
• Write an engaging summary . The summary section on LinkedIn is a great place to highlight, in a few sentences or bullet points, what makes you stand out as an employee or job candidate. This should read like a summary statement on a resume .
• Use appropriate language.  A resume is usually quite formal. You can be a bit more casual on your LinkedIn. For example, many people write their profiles in the first person (“I have ten years of experience in healthcare marketing”). It’s okay to be a bit more casual or personal in your LinkedIn profile – in fact, it can help engage a recruiter.
• Include keywords and skills. Unlike a resume, you are not tailoring your LinkedIn profile to fit a specific job listing. However, you can still use  keywords  from your industry in your profile. This will make it easier for employers to find your profile when searching for potential job candidates.
• Include values.  Like a resume,  include numbers  to demonstrate how you have added value at work. For example, you might state how much money you saved a company through your cost-saving solutions, or explain how you completed a task within a certain period of time.
• Add content and accomplishments . You can upload documents or include links on your LinkedIn profile. Take advantage of this – include papers, presentations, projects, personal websites, and other materials that demonstrate the quality of your work. This is a great way to show, rather than tell, employers about your strengths.
• Get recommendations and endorsements. To a potential employer, a  LinkedIn recommendation  is a reference in advance. Try to boost your profile with LinkedIn recommendations from your connections. Also be sure to  endorse people in your network , and hopefully they will endorse you back.

Also consider  customizing your URL  so that you have a link that's easy to share. Mine, for example, is  https://www.linkedin.com/in/alisondoyle . You can include this URL in your email signature so that people can easily access your profile.
• Grow Your network. Another way to share your profile is to connect with other members and build your network. The more connections you have, the more opportunities you have. Of course, you should only connect with people you know. If you don’t know someone but would like to connect, be sure to send a private message introducing yourself.
• Update your profile regularly . Don't forget to update your profile when you change positions or companies. Also add links to new articles, projects, etc., as you complete them. Your profile should be dynamic and up-to-date. Spend a little time every month, even if you don't have major changes reviewing it and freshening it up .

The first thing to know is that your LinkedIn already has a place reserved for your resume, and that’s your profile's About Me section. 

It’s a strategic position that allows anyone visiting your profile to notice your resume right away. 

Now, when it comes to uploading your resume on LinkedIn, the process is fairly easy. 

Follow these steps to upload your resume directly to your profile:

Step #1: Click the Me tab on the top toolbar below your profile photo.

Step #2: Choose View Profile from the drop-down menu that appears.

Step #3: Scroll down and click the Add Featured link.

Step #4: If you don't see the “ Featured” section , it might be disabled. If that’s the case, scroll to the top of your profile and select “ Add profile section” , then “ Recommended” , and then “ Add featured”, and finally "Add Media" .

Step #5: Otherwise, if your Featured section is enabled, click Add Favorites or the plus icon , and select Media from the drop-down menu.

Step #6: In the file upload window that appears, select the resume document you want to upload and click Open.

Step #7: A preview of the document will pop up, as well as fields to title and describe your resume. Only the title is required.

Step #8: After filling in the title and description, click Save .

And just like that, everyone will be able to view your resume in the Featured part of your LinkedIn profile .

Now, when looking for work, it’s best to tailor your resume to each position rather than use the same one for all applications. Customizing your resume to the job not only improves your chances of getting hired but also shows the recruiter that you're dedicated and detail-oriented.

And, unfortunately, simply adding your resume to your LinkedIn profile doesn’t allow you to tailor your resume to specific job positions. 

The good news? LinkedIn has thought about this. 

If you’re job hunting and applying to several positions, you can upload different, customized versions of your resume using LinkdeIn's “ Easy Apply ” function. 

Here’s exactly how you can do it: 

Step #1: For starters, check the job position you’re applying for. The Easy Apply function will allow you to upload your resume straight to LinkedIn. Any listing that just has an "Apply" tab will require you to submit your resume via a third-party website. 

Step #2: If applicable, select Easy Apply . Scroll down until you see a button that says Upload Resume . 

Step #3: To upload your resume, navigate to the resume file on your computer and select Open. 

Step #4: From here on, you can keep revising your application and, when finished, click the Submit Application tab. 

The best part? LinkedIn will save this version of your resume in case you need to use it for another job. 

Should I Add My Resume on LinkedIn? 

The answer is a clear “yes!”

When a potential employer lands on your LinkedIn page, they won’t have enough information just with your personal profile to see if you’re qualified for whatever job they’re considering you for.

Simply by adding a resume, you’re adding a new level of depth to your LinkedIn profile and making it more likely that prospective employers reach out to you.

How to Download Your LinkedIn Profile As a Resume (With Pros & Cons)

Just like it allows you to upload your resume online, LinkedIn also lets you download your profile on the platform as a resume. 

All LinkedIn profiles feature a “Save as PDF” tab that will take your LinkedIn profile and save it on your device as a PDF.  

This PDF will contain everything you’ve listed on LinkedIn, including your education, work experience, and skills.

To download your LinkedIn profile as a resume, the first thing you need to do is open LinkedIn in a web browser on your computer. 

After selecting the profile icon at the top, click View Profile.

On the profile page, right below the profile picture, click More and select Save to PDF .

In a few seconds, your download will begin and the PDF will show all the information included in your profile.

Now, if you want to add, update, or omit certain elements from the profile before saving it, you can use LinkedIn’s resume tool to do so. Once you’re pleased with the result, you can hit Save. 

However, the real question here is , is using a LinkedIn profile as a resume a good idea?

The answer is no .

The LinkedIn resume is simply not that effective for several reasons:

• It simply doesn’t look that good. And yes, your resume’s design does matter. The cleaner your resume layout, the easier it is to scan, and as such, more likely to get read by the HR manager.
• It’s not comprehensive enough. Your LinkedIn profile should not be as detailed as your resume. The purpose of a LI profile is to act as a brief introduction to you as a professional, not to sell you as a candidate.
• The output might be too long. Generally, you want to keep your resume length to one, maybe two pages max. A LinkedIn profile export can be longer than that.

Yeah, not many people know about this option. It’s such a hidden tool, you’d think LinkedIn’s resume builder was intentionally hidden in shame. 

And perhaps that’s the case, as there are a few downsides to using it. 

We've tested it and will show you everything you need to know about the LinkedIn resume builder, its strengths and weaknesses, and alternatives.

What is a LinkedIn resume builder?

The LinkedIn resume builder is a free web-tool that allows you to either import an existing resume or generate a new resume from your LinkedIn profile.

It populates a simple resume template which can be easily edited without impacting your profile. You're also able to download the finished resume as a PDF. 

So, how can you create a resume there exactly? Let's have a look!

Before you can begin using the LinkedIn resume builder, you first need to create and log in into your LinkedIn account. Once you have done that, you can continue with the following steps: 

• Click the Me icon at the upper corner of your LinkedIn profile page.
• Select the More button beneath your name and contact information.
• Upload or create resume from profile.

That’s it, simple right?

I've tried it myself too and here’s what it spat out:

So, what do we think? Is this a resume that will get you hired?

Not quite. There are two main problems that one can spot immediately:

• Template. With your resume, you want to stand out. However, the LinkedIn resume template is pretty boring. Plus it contains a lot of white space , forcing you to write sparingly if you don't want to go over one page.
• Content. LinkedIn profiles and resumes have different functions. You'll not be getting a great resume by merely clicking the " Create from profile " button.

If you want better results, you're going to have to tweak your LinkedIn resume — heavily.

Believe me, you really don't want to just copy and paste your LinkedIn profile into a resume and call it a go. We'll go over why in the chapters below. 

LinkedIn resume too bland?

Pick a template with personality and get hired.

Although the LinkedIn’s resume builder is a simple and easy to use tool, it comes with many limitations.

For starters, a good LinkedIn profile rarely translates into a good resume. Perhaps because both are meant to perform different roles.

Here are 5 ways in which a LinkedIn profile differs from a resume: 

• Less formal: Although still professional, your LinkedIn profile should be casual. 
• Includes a profile picture : Including a resume photo in most western countries is a no-no. However, uploading a professional portrait picture on your LinkedIn profile is advised.
• Longer and more descriptive : For sake of brevity a resume’s length is kept between one and two pages long. Such limitations are not the norm on a LinkedIn profile.
• Not tailored to individual jobs : Usually it's recommended to tailor a resume to every job application. On the other hand, this is not something you do with your LinkedIn profile. That one you just keep relevant to your field. 
• Written in 1st person instead of 3rd : Unlike a resume, you can use “I” and other personal pronouns such as "me, my, we, our,"  etc.

As you can see, these differences are not so small and will definitely complicate things when converting your LinkedIn profile into a LinkedIn resume. 

Luckily, there's a better way.

Some resumes can distinguish an applicant at a glance.

They ooze personality, not just because of how they're written, but because of how they're formatted and how they look. 

Unfortunately, this is something that is pretty much impossible to pull off with the LinkedIn resume builder.  You just don't have the options. 

In fact, I believe you would be better off creating a resume via Microsoft Word or Google Docs where you at least have some liberty to personalize it. 

But we know how hard and time consuming these programs can be.

While I’m a huge fan of LinkedIn, unfortunately I can’t say the same about its underwhelming resume builder. If you’re in a hurry and just need a PDF copy of your work history, go ahead and use it. But if you want a document that you can extensively format and quickly edit, or that looks attractive, avoid it. Or use a platform that enables you to pull data from your LinkedIn profile and edit it in a separate resume builder (hint, hint — Kickresume 😉 ).

If you decide to create your resume via LinkedIn or with importing your LinkedIn data into a dedicated resume builder, here's how to edit it:

• Keep it short: Even though your LinkedIn profile allows you to have a whole career history, on your resume, you typically focus on specific aspects and you’re limited by a number of pages. Try to keep it short and relevant, don't go over 2 pages.
• Change the tone: A resume is a formal document and your tone should reflect that. Eliminate colloquial phrasings and avoid using first person pronouns — heck, you can even opt to remove all personal pronouns.  
• Edit your summary: Majority of LinkedIn summaries are far too long for a resume. Keep your profile 2-5 bullet points long, 3 being the sweet spot. 
• Reduce the skills section: Unlike a LinkedIn profile, a resume doesn't need the 30 skills you added for SEO purposes. Jot down only the most relevant ones. 3-6 should be more then enough. 
• Change your keyword optimization: While a LinkedIn profile uses keywords that speak the language of a career field, a resume should speak with the language of the prospect job or company.

3 ways to leverage LinkedIn for your job search, according to a recruiter with 26 years of experience

For most job-seekers and recruiters alike, LinkedIn plays a huge role in the recruiting process.

Employees have plenty of reasons to take a peek at their profiles, even for those not actively looking for a new role. Nearly a quarter of US workers surveyed by Gallup last year worried their jobs will be replaced by technology. With layoffs hitting across industries and companies taking huge bets on AI , survival efforts like upskilling , networking , and revamping online profiles are more important than ever.

Some career experts liken LinkedIn to a living, breathing CV, while others say they spend longer on a candidate's LinkedIn profile than on their résumé.

LinkedIn's job posts are the obvious first stop for those looking for a new role. But there are other ways you can leverage the platform in your next career move.

One strategy is to follow the companies you'd like to work for to stay in the loop about job openings, company news, and industry trends, Nick Shah told Business Insider. Shah is the founder of Peterson Technology Partners , a 26-year-old tech staffing agency based in Park Ridge, Illinois. A spokesperson said the company placed over 300 people in the past year and screens about 1,000 candidates monthly.

Shah shared three other ways candidates can optimize LinkedIn to stand out to hiring managers.

1. Treat your LinkedIn profile like a résumé

People are used to enhancing their résumés to stand out in employers' keyword-searching software. Add those phrases to your LinkedIn profile too, because recruiters look for candidates by typing in industry-related keywords, Shah said.

"Candidates should include relevant keywords in the 'About' section and their last job experience position details," he said. "No place is considered off-limits for keywords. If you can get a recruiter's attention with the right skills mentioned in your LinkedIn profile and back it up with technical expertise, you are doing it right."

He said that one of his recruiters found a security architect who, in his title, described his background in cloud security and artificial intelligence, and specified his certifications. In his skills section, he listed his focus within cybersecurity and his Microsoft Office and cloud proficiencies.

Shah said these keywords helped the recruiter spot that the candidate was a right fit for the client — and he'll likely receive an offer soon.

2. Use it for healthy comparisons

LinkedIn is a library of professional profiles.

"To make your profile stand out and get noticed by recruiters, it can be helpful to compare it to profiles of people working at companies you admire," Shah said.

By comparing their LinkedIn page to yours, you can find gaps in your own profile information and skills you might consider developing, Shah said. Keep a close eye on your work experiences section, which should include clear and succinct examples of your work, and result metrics.

3. Make yourself visible  

Regularly share content and engage with posts from your network. This engagement increases your chances of being spotted by recruiters and hiring managers, Shah said.

Candidates can post articles on the platform or contribute to the newer "collaborative article" tool, which allows users to share under a LinkedIn-created prompt.

• Click Save to finalize your new vanity URL.

Your LinkedIn profile header is like a digital business card introducing you to the professional world. It's the first thing people see when they visit your profile, so it can help you make a memorable impression.

The header consists of your profile picture, headline, and background photo, all contributing to creating a compelling personal brand. Here's how you can optimize each element:

• Profile Picture: Choose a professional headshot that conveys confidence and approachability, presenting yourself as a capable and friendly professional.
• Headline: Craft a captivating headline that showcases your expertise and highlights your unique value proposition. Instead of simply stating your job title, consider including keywords representing your skills, industry, or unique value proposition. This will help you stand out and attract the attention of potential employers and connections.
• Background Photo: The background photo is the banner image on your profile. It could be a photo related to your field, an inspiring quote, or a visually appealing design representing your brand. You can easily create a professional LinkedIn banner using Canva to design your background photo.

The About section, which is found in your main profile, lets you tell your professional story and showcase your skills, accomplishments, and aspirations. 4. Featured

• Click on Search to view the results.

7. Commitments

Employers can now showcase their commitments on their LinkedIn Pages, providing proof of their dedication to specific causes or initiatives. When browsing job postings, take note of these commitments, as they can help you identify organizations that align with your values.

• Do a job search. In the example shown in the photo, we did a job search for social media marketing specialist.
• Click All filters on the menu at the top of the page.
• Scroll down to Commitments . You should see a list of values that companies commit to. Options are Career growth and learning , Environmental sustainability ; Work-life balance ; Diversity, equity, and inclusion ; and Social impact .
• Click the values that resonate with you.
• Click Show results .

Another way to view a company's Commitments is to through its profile page. Click About , and you'll see Commitments if the company has it enabled.

8. I'm Interested

Express your interest in a company by visiting their LinkedIn page and clicking the I'm Interested button. This action shares your profile with recruiters and lets you stay informed about their latest updates and job postings for up to a year.

Follow these steps to access this feature:

• Navigate to your profile page.
• Search for the company on the Search bar.
• Visit the company's page.
• Go to the About section on the company's page.
• Scroll down to Interested in working with us in the future? Section.
• Click on the I'm interested button.

Not all companies have the I'm Interested section enabled on their page.

9. Hiring In Your Network

Utilize the Jobs tab to discover job opportunities within your professional network. LinkedIn makes it easy to see which companies are hiring individuals with connections to your network, opening doors to hidden job prospects and potential referral opportunities.

• Scroll down to Hiring in your network .
• Click the flag icon to save the job. A popup marked You've saved this job should appear.
• Click the link See saved jobs on the popup to show all the jobs you saved.

10. LinkedIn Resume

LinkedIn allows you to upload your resume directly to your profile. You can also choose to automatically share your resume with recruiters who might chance upon your profile. Follow these steps to upload and share your resume:

• Click on the Jobs icon.
• In the left-hand menu, click Application settings .
• Select Upload resume to browse and select the resume file on your computer.
• Give your resume a descriptive title that accurately represents its content, such as "John Doe - Resume" or "Marketing Professional - Curriculum Vitae."
• Toggle on Share your resume data with all recruiters if you want to share your resume with headhunters.
• Click "Apply" or "Save" to upload and showcase your resume on your LinkedIn profile.

Alternatively, you can create a resume using the LinkedIn details you added to your profile. Follow these steps to create your resume using your LinkedIn details:

• In the left-hand menu, click Resume Builder .
• Select the Create from profile button. The Choose your desired job title window should appear.
• Add your job title. A list of standard job titles should appear once you start typing. Choose from that list.
• Click Apply . Your LinkedIn profile in resume format should appear.
• Click Download as PDF .

The Summary section of the downloaded Linked resume will be the same as the About section on your LinkedIn profile. If you chose to be creative in your About section, revise this part so it could sound like a more professional summary.

11. Skills Match

LinkedIn's skills matching feature helps you identify job postings that align with your skills and experience. Be sure to showcase your skills on your profile and keep them updated to increase your chances of finding relevant job opportunities.

• Search for a job.
• Click on the job you're interested in.
• On the job description, scroll down to Skills associated with the job post . You'll see x number of skills on your profile and the x number of skills missing on your profile .

According to LinkedIn , the insights provided by Skills Match are generated either from the skills provided by the person who posted the job or from the skills recognized by LinkedIn in the job description.

12. Creator Mode

Enable Creator Mode on your LinkedIn profile to showcase your content and increase engagement. This feature allows you to highlight your posts, create newsletters, and organize online events to position yourself as a thought leader in your industry. With the feature turned on, LinkedIn members can also easily follow you.

• Navigate to your LinkedIn profile.
• Scroll down to Resources .
• Click on Creator mode . A popup should appear.
• Click on Next .
• Select Topics that will be displayed on your profile to show your followers what you post about.
• Scroll down to the Creator tools: LinkedIn Live , Audio Event , Newsletters , and Follow link . The Follow link will be activated once you turn Creator mode on.
• Click the Turn on button.

13. Open to Work

Open To Work is one of the classic free LinkedIn features to use in your job search . When enabled, it adds a green frame around your profile picture, indicating your availability to recruiters.

• Scroll down to the Open to work box, which is right under your headline.
• Click the pencil icon.
• Edit your job preferences.
• Under visibility, select All LinkedIn members .

King Charles III will resume public duties next week after cancer treatment, palace says

LONDON (AP) — King Charles III is back.

The 75-year-old monarch will resume some public duties next week following a three-month break to focus on his treatment and recuperation after he was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer, Buckingham Palace said Friday.

Charles will mark the milestone by visiting a cancer treatment center on Tuesday, the first of several public appearances he will make in the coming weeks, the palace said. One of his first major engagements will be to host a state visit by the emperor and empress of Japan in June.

The palace said the king’s doctors are “very encouraged” by his progress, though it is too early to say how long his treatment will last. It didn’t provide details about what type of treatment he is receiving.

Charles will continue to perform all of his state duties, including reviewing government documents and meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as he has done since his diagnosis was disclosed on Feb. 5, the palace said.

“As the first anniversary of the coronation approaches, their majesties remain deeply grateful for the many kindnesses and good wishes they have received from around the world throughout the joys and challenges of the past year,’’ the palace said in a statement.

Charles’ return will relieve pressure on other members of the royal family after the king’s absence, coupled with that of the Princess of Wales, also due to illness, highlighted the challenges faced by a slimmed down monarchy.

Amid the king’s commitment to cut costs and the decision of Duke and Duchess of Sussex — more commonly known as Prince Harry and Meghan — to walk away from royal duties, there are simply fewer family members available to carry out the endless round of ribbon cuttings, awards ceremonies and state events that make up the life of a modern royal.

Charles has been largely out of the public eye ever since he had treatment for an enlarged prostate in January. His later cancer diagnosis came as the Princess of Wales — one of the most popular royals — underwent abdominal surgery and later announced that she, too, had cancer. Prince William took time off to support his wife and their young family.

That left Queen Camilla, the king’s sister Princess Anne and his younger brother, Prince Edward, to shoulder the load.

Camilla, once shunned by the public for her role in the breakup of Charles’ marriage to Princess Diana, played a particularly prominent role during the king’s absence, standing in for her husband at major events such as the annual Royal Maundy service on the Thursday before Easter.

The return of the king will be a chance for him to reinvigorate his reign, which began in September 2022 amid expectations that he would modernize the monarchy, while reaching out to young people and minority groups to cement the royal family’s role in the 21st century.

Charles’ challenges include strengthening ties to the Commonwealth and the 14 independent countries outside the United Kingdom where the British monarch is still head of state, an unwelcome reminder to some people of Britain’s colonial history.

The king’s return is significant because it will help quell speculation about his well-being, royal historian George Gross said, citing an adage attributed to Queen Elizabeth II that the monarch needs to be seen to be believed.

“I think there is that feeling that it’s very difficult to have a functioning monarchy with the head of state away for any considerable length of time,’’ said Gross, founder of the British Coronations Project at King’s College London. “And this felt like a long time.”

Charles’ engagements over the coming months will be adapted as needed to minimize any risks to his recovery, the palace said. He won’t have a full summer program, and his attendance will be determined closer to the time of each event and with the advice of his doctors.

The summer months are normally a busy period for the royals with major events such as the monarch’s birthday parade, known as Trooping the Colour, and the horse races at Royal Ascot.

Critically for the king’s safety, most of these showpiece spectacles take place outdoors, lessening the risk of infection for a cancer patient whose immune system may be weakened.

Charles’ return will be warmly greeted by the public, partly because he chose to publicize his initial prostate issue and then his cancer diagnosis, spurring many people to consult with their doctors, Gross said.

“The monarch has seen that he can do good by discussing health and raising the awareness of cancer,” he told The Associated Press. “I think that that’s at the top end of this. And that’s a very special thing when a head of state can do good. That’s immense.”
