  • It was a day that meant a lot to me.
  • The pleasant days of the post.
  • The farewell party – a splendid function.
  • The farewell speeches.
  • It was the end of a splendid span of two years at my college.
  • The moment of parting.

The 31 st of March was my last day at the college. After one month, the examination would start. I was feeling mixed pleasure – happy and sad at the same time. One the one side, I felt relieved at the end of the academic year. I worked hard to achieve my goals for the last two years. I had got 430 marks in the first part and was sure of getting excellent marks in the second part. I wanted to become a doctor in future. The very feeling that I was now nearer to my destination made me happy. In this way, it was a day that meant a lot for me.

On the other side, it was the moment of parting. The pleasant days of the past came to my mind and their rememberance made me sad. I recollected my first day at the college. When I fell a prey to the joking and fooling of the senior students. After one year, I was myself a senior boy and played many jokes on first-year students. The sweet memories of the two years began to glitter in my mind. There was a smile on my lips and tears in my eyes.

“Friends depart, and memory takes them To her caverns, pure and deep.” (Thomas Haynes)

In our college, there is a tradition that the junior students give a farewell party to the senior outgoing students. The last day in the college is made a memorable occasion for them. According to the tradition of the college, the students of the first year class organized a splendid function under the supervision of a senior professor. The college was decorated with buntings and flags. First of all, we assembled in the lawn of the college for a group photograph. Then, we went to the college hall for further activities.

The principal of our college presided over the function. The representative of the first year class made a farewell speech. He paid thanks to the second year students for their co-operation and guidance. He pledged to follow the foot-prints of the seniors. I, on behalf of my class fellows, made a speech. I paid thanks to the teachers for their tireless and selfless efforts to enlighten the minds of the students. I also appreciated the first year students for arranging such a splendid function in the honour of the outgoing senior students. I made a promise that the send year students would burn the midnight oil to brighten the name of the college.

“There is no substitute for hard work.” (Edison)

Then the worthy principal made an elegant speech. He advised us to perform our duties honestly as a student and as a citizen of the civil society. In the end, our principal gave us his blessings and wished us success in our future career. It was an inspiring and memorable speech. All the students clapped when he finished his speech.

The formal speeches were followed by a variety show. It was organized for the entertainment of the students and guests. The students performed a few fun-fair items. At the end of the show, we were served with tea, biscuits, cakes and fruit. The farewell party was a great success in every respect.

It was the end of a splendid span of two years at my college. I had spent a lot of happy time there. I took part in debates and sports actively and won many prizes. Some of my teachers greatly influenced me and enlightened my outlook. I also make a few new friends whose nice company was unforgettable for me.

The music in my heart I bore Long after it was heard no more. (Wordsworth)

The last day at my college was, indeed, a memorable day in my life. All the outgoing students took leave of their teachers and friends with he4avy hearts. When I was leaving my college, there were tears in my eyes.

“Heavy hearts, like heavy clouds in the sky, Are best relieved by the letting of water. (Revarol)

Essay My Last Day at College or My Last Day at School

“friends depart, and memory takes them to her caverns, pure and deep” (thomas haynes).

My memories of my last day of college are still very much intact. It was an exciting and feeling-filled day. Our juniors, the first-year students, threw a goodbye party for us, the second-year students. I’ve never been able to leave on time for college. But on that particular day, I beat the record and arrived on time for the institution. The classes were suspended on that memorable day so that we could say our last goodbyes.

“How lucky it is to have something that makes it so hard to say goodbye.”

When I got to the campus, I ran across my dear friends, who were now prepared to part ways. On the one hand, I am eager to finish school and begin a new phase of my life. On the other side, as I bid farewell to my friends and instructors who have contributed to my college experience, I am experiencing grief and nostalgia.

I am overcome with nostalgia as I stroll around the college campus for the last time. After a brief conversation with friends, we took some lovely pictures of different areas of our campus. I still remember how I felt on my first day of college—both anxious and excited—and how quickly I made friends and settled in.

I also recall the extended study sessions, late-night cramming sessions, and difficulties I had while in college. But I also recall the aid and direction I received from my instructors and friends throughout the challenging periods.

“Things may end, but memories will last forever.”

I am appreciative of the information and abilities I have acquired throughout my time in college when I think back on my time there. Along with my instructors, my friends, and extracurricular activities, they have all taught me something. I’ve matured as a person and gained self-assurance and a feeling of freedom.

The feeling of connection and community I have had at college is among the things I will miss the most when I leave. As a student, my professors and classmates have always been supportive of me and have allowed me to develop close relationships with them.

I will also miss the freedom and adaptability that come with being a student, which is another aspect of college that I will regret. I’ve had the chance to investigate many topics and pursuits and to identify my hobbies and interests.

Additionally, I will miss the campus and all of its amenities, including the cafeteria, gym, and library. I have spent many hours studying, working out, and socializing at these locations over the last four years, and they have served as my second home. I am also appreciative of the friendships I have developed while attending college. I will always treasure the memories that we have created together, since these are friendships that will last a lifetime.

I’m excited and looking forward to the future as I bid goodbye to college and look to the future. I’m prepared to face the difficulties of everyday life and leave my imprint on the world. But I will always cherish and be grateful for the time I spent at college.

The music in my heart I bore ,

Long after it was heard, no more (wordsworth).

To sum up, my last day at college is a bittersweet occasion for me. I am eager to leave college and begin a new chapter in my life, but I will also miss the people, places, and experiences that have made up my college career. I am appreciative of the information, abilities, and friendships I have acquired throughout my time here, and I will always cherish my college years.

What to Expect on Your Last Day of College

Mixed emotions, thoughts of the future, excitement and nerves are all a part of your last day of college. Here’s what to expect.

quotes for essay my last day at college

You Might Feel Nostalgic

Some thoughts of the past might start to drift by in your mind throughout the day at random moments. Getting ready for class might spur a memory of getting ready several years ago during your first semester. Walking down a familiar path might have you dreaming of memories of walking the same path over the last several years. Try to think of these nostalgic memories with happiness and save them as sweet memories in your mind, knowing you are about to embark on the next chapter of your life and create many more memories!

You Might Also Feel Overwhelmed

It might be overwhelming to think that your future starts now, as in right now! But try to remind yourself that you’ve worked hard for this moment — all the classes and years have prepared you for this next big part of your life.

quotes for essay my last day at college

Mixed Emotions: Excitement and Nerves

Expect to feel excited but also nervous on your last day of college. Excitement about new opportunities and the road ahead, but nervous about what is to come and if you can make it (spoiler alert: of course you can!). Expect to feel some bittersweet emotions — you may feel sad about ending an important chapter in your life, but also very happy and proud of the incredible accomplishments you’ve achieved by graduating college.

Comparison is a Real Issue

Some of your colleagues and classmates may already have jobs lined up to start right away. Some people you know may not have started the job hunt at all. Some may be lining up travel plans or celebrations and some may completely brush aside graduation day like it is nothing. Don’t compare yourself to everyone around you. In the same way that you’ve met a wide range of people throughout your studies, so will be their plans and planning styles for the future. Know that you are making the best choice for you, whatever it may be.

Understand How Much You’ve Changed

Your last day of college, while full of social interactions and celebrations, should also be a time for self-reflection. You will likely think of how far you have come and what circumstances you’ve passed over the last several years as a student that made you the person you are today.

quotes for essay my last day at college

Cherish the Special Bonds You’ve Made

The last several years of your life as a student has certainly had its ups and downs. Through these times, you’ve likely made incredible friendships and relationships with people, unlike any bonds you’ve experienced before. These people have been with you through it all, so take some time during your last days in college to connect with the people who have touched your life. Ask them where they plan to go and what their next steps are. Make sure to stay in touch with classmates, friends and professors who have made a difference in your life.

Tips for Your Last Day of College

With all these expected emotions and thoughts coming in and out on your last day, here are some tips to keep you going strong:

Take some time to reflect on your time as a student. This will be a busy day for you, but make sure you carve out some time for yourself to go over your last several years in your mind.

Make Goals:

Today your mind will be running around with all sorts of thoughts. It’s a good day to make a quick list of goals for yourself for the short, medium and long term. Or if you already have goals , revisit them and see what changes, if any, need to be made now that you’re a graduate.

Say Goodbye:

There have likely been many people that have taken part in your life as a college student. Take time to say goodbye and thank you to professors and peers who have helped you along the way.

The people in your life who have watched you grow will likely want to see you succeed. What better way than to send a brief announcement, either over email, written note or on social media. Make sure to send individual notices thanking those who played a special role in your life thus far.

Don’t forget that life after college is the beginning of a new era!

quotes for essay my last day at college

Next Steps: Your Future Starts Now

After the celebrations and festivities, it’s time to get organized and figure out what your future holds.

1. Celebrate! You did it!

Obviously, this is the first step after your last day of college. Before you begin the planning, worrying, and buckling down, make sure to have fun in your last days of college and celebrate all that you’ve accomplished.

2. Planning Out Your Next Steps

You may have already started planning for your next steps. If not, now is the time. Whether you are thinking of searching for a new job , internship, continuing the same job, make some decisions about where you see yourself headed in the short term. You don’t have to go the traditional route either: consider other options such as volunteering , travel, or taking time for family.

3. Create Your Goals

Take stock of your current goals for yourself — personally, professionally, financially and otherwise. Now that you are finished with school, these goals may have changed. Your last days of college are a great time to revisit goals, make some new ones, and of course get some checked off!

4. Pay Off Your Loans

Make a plan to pay off your student loans, starting now. Even if you don’t think you’ll start payments for some time, start to plan so that when the time comes, you won’t be shocked that it’s already time. Don’t forget that there are plenty of student loan forgiveness programs that can ease quite a bit of that debt.

5. Create A Budget

And stick to it, too! A well-planned and followed budget is a key to financial success after college. Look at your current income or expected income, and make a budget that includes living expenses, extra spending, debt repayment and more. Try to stay within your budget , and you’ll surely stay out of the statistics of recent graduates plunging into debt.

Inspirational Last Day of College Messages

Some words of wisdom to keep you going leading up to your last day, and then some!

  • “Things may end, but memories will last forever.”
  • “How lucky it is to have something that makes it so hard to say goodbye.”
  • “We know what we are but not what we may be.”
  • “If opportunity doesn’t come knocking, build your own door.”
  • “Wherever you go, go with all your heart.”
  • “Your life is artful, just waiting for you to make it into art.”
  • “Always remember that your work is only part of your life.”

So much has transpired between your first day of college and your last. You have likely grown and changed as a person, had unparalleled life experiences, and you have a degree to show for all of this. This may be a bitter-sweet period, but you’ll always have your college life memories for precious moments of reminiscence. Now, it’s time to go celebrate and enjoy your final days as a student!

by Pakiology | Mar 22, 2024 | Essay , English | 0 comments

Today is my last day at college and I am feeling a mix of emotions. On one hand, I am excited to graduate and start a new chapter in my life. On the other hand, I am feeling a sense of sadness and nostalgia as I say goodbye to my friends and teachers who have been a part of my college journey.

As I walk through the college campus for the last time, I am filled with memories of the past four years. I remember the excitement and nervousness I felt on my first day of college, and how quickly I made friends and found my place in the college community.

I also remember the long hours of studying, the late-night cram sessions, and the struggles and challenges that I faced during my college years. But I also remember the support and guidance of my teachers and friends who helped me through the difficult times.

As I reflect on my college experience, I am grateful for the knowledge and skills that I have gained during my time here. I have learned not only from my professors but also from my peers and extracurricular activities. I have grown as a person and developed a sense of independence and self-confidence.

One of the things that I will miss the most about college is the sense of community and belonging that I have experienced here. As a student, I have always felt welcomed and supported by my teachers and peers, and I have been able to develop meaningful relationships with them.

Another thing that I will miss about college is the freedom and flexibility that comes with being a student. I have been able to explore different subjects and activities, and have had the opportunity to discover my passions and interests.

I will also miss the campus and its facilities, such as the library, the gym, and the cafeteria. These have been my second home for the past four years, and I have spent countless hours studying, exercising, and socializing in these places.

I am also grateful for the friendships that I have made during my time at college. These are friendships that will last a lifetime, and I will always cherish the memories that we have made together.

As I say goodbye to college and look toward the future, I am filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation. I am ready to take on the challenges of the real world and make my mark on the world. But I will always look back on my college years with fondness and gratitude.

In conclusion, my last day at college is a bittersweet moment for me. I am excited to graduate and start a new chapter in my life, but I will also miss the friends, teachers, and facilities that have been a part of my college experience. I am grateful for the knowledge, skills, and relationships that I have gained during my time here, and I will always look back on my college years with fondness.

My last Day at College

My Last Day at College (Short and Long Paragraphs)

My last day at college (short paragraph).

Man is a social animal. He loves not only the people he lives with but also the place he lives in. It may be a house of bricks or an institution of education; one’s stay in it makes one love both the people and the place. He becomes sad when he leaves them.

The same sadness haunted me on my last day at my college. The moment I entered the college gate, I felt churned up inside. I had a feeling that I would not be able to have the familiar look of the building and its surrounding any more. During the last two years, I had developed a striking affinity with the building and every other thing that: belonged to it.

A kaleidoscope (a constantly and quickly changing pattern) of events began to move on before my eyes. I could see myself entering the college with a throbbing heart. How I attended different classes on my first day. And then there was a flood of faces and events in which many faces appeared and many disappeared. The whole reel ended in a Jiffy.[the_ad id=”17141″]

During all the classes that I attended that day, I was taking in every word of my beloved teachers so that I could store them into my memory for as long a time as a human being lives. I was trying to imprint the pictures of my guiding stars on the slate of my mind so that I could see them vividly in the days to come when I would actively be involved in the drama of life.

After the dismissal of the last class, I took all of my friends to the canteen of my college. It was the place where we all had spent a lot of time. We all were very pensive. Quite often we tried to start up some conversation but the chain would soon break. I knew that like me everybody was revisiting the last two years spent in the hustle and bustle of the college

Not all of the boys were in the mood as were we. Different groups of students were busy taking autographs from their teachers and their friends. Some of them were sprinkling their pen ink on one another. Their roars of laughter seemed to echo far and · near. However, on the whole, there was a tinge of sadness and melancholy all around.

After staying for quite some time in the canteen we decided to depart. We got out of the college gate, embraced one another with promises of being in touch and departed moving towards our homes with grim steps.

My Last Day at College (Long Paragraph)

Man is a social animal. He loves not only the people he lives with but also the places he lives in. It may be a house of bricks or an institution of education. [the_ad id=”17142″]It is said about college that

We enter to learn and leave it to serve.

A college is a place where the young generation of a nation sees dreams of a golden future. A college student develops an emotional and close association with his institution. He loves and likes everything of it. As it is said:

Love begets love & hatred begets hatred

All students become like a family in college. They do not even think about their separation. But a day comes when they have to leave college and everything about it. It is the time of real sadness for them.

The same sadness haunted me on my last day at my college. It was a pleasant day of 31st March but it was a day of sadness for me. We were aware of the fact that we were to separate one day which was painful, sad and depressing for all of us.

The moment I entered the college gate I had a feeling that I would not be able to come here again and enjoy my days as I had been before. All the events in past began to move on before my eyes. I could see myself entering the college with a throbbing heart. How I attended different classes on my first day. Then there was a flood of faces and events in which many faces appeared and many disappeared.

The students of first-year received us on the gate on the last day. To make the last day memorable for us, they presented a beautiful twig of rose to each student. It showed their love and close association with us. They also wished us a happy and bright future. There was a beautiful banner hanging on the main gate saying

May your days ahead be filled with wonderful experiences, lots of love and all the successes in life.

Every student of the outgoing class entered the classroom with a heavy heart. The professors read our faces and delivered us a pathetic lecture on the role played by meeting and parting in life. After the dismissal of the last class, different groups of students were busy taking autographs from their teachers and their friends. Some of them were talking and promising to be in contact with each other. However, on the whole, there was a tinge of sadness and melancholy all around.[the_ad id=”17150″]

My feelings at that time were a mixture of joys and sorrows. I was happy because I had completed a part of my studies and I was sad because I was parting from my friends.

We were never so happy, nor so unhappy as we suppose ourselves to be.

I had a last view of the college. First of all, I went to the common room. It was as busy and noisy as ever before. Then, I visited college canteen. It was full of life as usual. Later I walked to the college library. There I found the students busy in depositing and receiving the books.

In the afternoon the students of the 1st year had arranged a party in the honor of their seniors. It was an expression of their love and respect for us. We thanked our teachers and students. They bade us farewell with a mixed feeling of joy and sadness. I said goodbye to everything in the college and went to my home with sweet wishes about my future. To conclude my last day at college is a memorable day of my life. I can never forget it. It will remain fresh in my mind for good.

My Last Day at College Essay for 2nd Year Graduation

quotes for essay my last day at college

  • December 20, 2023

Kainat Shakeel

The last day at college marks the end of a period, a chapter filled with horselaugh, literacy, and lasting friendships. As I pen down my reflections on this significant day, the flood tide of feelings is inviting, a rollercoaster lift of nostalgia and expectation for what lies ahead.

The Journey Begins:

Walking through the college gates for the first time felt like stepping into a world of endless possibilities. The journey wasn’t just about handbooks and examinations but a mosaic of gests that shaped my character. From the first awkward preface to lifelong friends, every moment was a structure block of particular growth.

Academic Achievements:

The academic journey was further than a hunt for grades; it was a pursuit of knowledge that converted me. The challenges and triumphs in the classroom were vital in preparing me for the real world. Each course was a stepping gravestone, contributing to my intellectual elaboration.

The Last Lectures:

The final lectures were a mix of academic wisdom and novelettish farewells. Professors participated inestimable perceptivity, and as the last words echoed through the lecture halls, it actualized on me that this chapter was closing. The exchange of gratefulness and wisdom came as the highlight of those final hours.

An Emotional Farewell:

Saying farewell to friends was the most heart-wrenching part of the last day. The horselaugh participated, the gashes exfoliated, and the pledges created a shade of feelings. The fellowship erected over the times wasn’t just a part of college it was the substance of the entire experience.

A Walk Down Memory Lane:

Roaming around the lot for the last time, I redefined cherished spots. From the library that witnessed innumerous study sessions to the canteen that echoed with horselaugh, each corner held recollections. The nostalgia was palpable as I bid farewell to the place that had come as an alternate home.

Graduation Preparation:

Amidst the emotional farewells, medications for scale added an air of excitement. Choosing the right outfit, rehearsing the walk across the stage, and feeling the expectation of holding that hard-earned degree- the preamble to scale was both whim-whams- wracking and exhilarating.

A Capstone of Dreams:

The day eventually arrived, marked by the fluttering gowns and the sense of accomplishment. The form was a festivity of hard work and determination. As I stood on the stage, the ocean of familiar faces below, I felt a swell of pride and gratefulness for the trip that led me to this moment.

Expressions of Gratitude:

In the fate of the form, expressing gratefulness became essential. Professors, staff, and friends were thanked for their unvarying support. The connections forged during college were conceded as the pillars that held me up during grueling times.

Unborn Bourne’s Beyond the Lot Gates:

With the degree in hand, the unborn impended large. The last day at college wasn’t just an end but a morning. The Bourne’s and pretensions that fueled the college trip now refocused the way forward. The world outdoors awaited, and I was ready to face it head-on.

Challenges Faced A Road Less Smooth:

The trip wasn’t without its challenges. From academic hurdles to particular struggles, each handicap came an assignment. The last day was a testament to adaptability, showcasing the capability to overcome adversity and crop stronger.

Beyond the Classroom Walls:

Reflecting on the college experience revealed a shade of assignments. Beyond academic knowledge, the trip imparted life chops, adaptability, and a deeper understanding of tone. The last day wasn’t just an end but a scale into a wiser interpretation of myself.

Embrace the Journey:

To unborn college scholars, I offer a simple piece of advice embrace the trip. Dive into every occasion, learn from lapses, and cherish the bonds formed. College isn’t just about grades; it’s a transformative experience that shapes your future.

A Ripple in Time:

As the echoes of farewell dallied, the impact became apparent. The last day at college wasn’t just a farewell to an institution but a farewell to an interpretation of myself. The recollections, assignments, and friendships would ripple through time, shaping the person I was becoming.

Lasting Echo of Goodbye:

In conclusion, the last day at college is a symphony of feelings, a top of farewells and new onsets. It’s not just an ending chapter but a helipad into the future. As I step out of the familiar gates, I carry a pack full of recollections and assignments that will guide me on the road ahead.

When I stopped drinking, I kept my sobriety a secret for months. Alcohol had always been a big part of my identity.

  • One night, while at a dive bar, I realized I wanted to stop drinking alcohol.
  • But I felt like drinking was part of my identity and didn't tell anyone I was sober for a while.
  • Finally, a few months into my sobriety, I told my husband, and then slowly told my friends.

Insider Today

The last time I drank alcohol , my husband and I went out with two other couples. We sauntered through the late summer air into what used to be my favorite kind of establishment — a dive bar. The stale scent of cigarettes and booze hovered. As we sat smushed together in a booth, sipping our Oberons, people played pool and laughed all around us.

But I wasn't having any fun.

I kept checking the time because I just wanted to go home and crash into bed. Yet I painted a smile on my face because that's how everyone saw me — the life of the party . So that night, I kept drinking.

I decided to quit drinking

As I sat in that booth, I thought about how alcohol wasn't serving me. During that time, near the end of my drinking days, my anxiety was heightened by booze, and I was consumed by guilt.

The anxiety woke me at 2 a.m., and I never fell back to sleep because it felt like a weight was squashing my chest. Then, because my hangovers affected my parenting , guilt consumed me and only fueled it more. And when the kids bounded out of bed the next morning, the cycle continued like a slinky cat all day long.

Aside from the emotional effects of drinking , I started to feel it physically, too. Fatigue interfered with my daily life. I developed — and ignored — allergies to all types of alcohol, and my face would turn blotchy after sipping anything. Even if I hadn't been drinking the night before, I always felt hungover.

Related stories

Honestly, I hadn't planned for that night to be my last night of booze. But sitting there, thinking about it all, I realized that I had had enough.

I didn't tell anyone I was sober for a while

When I first stopped drinking , I didn't tell anyone. Sure, I was raising two kids and had a solid teaching career, but letting loose at social gatherings was also at the core of how my friends saw me. And perhaps, it was also how I saw myself.

At first, I felt no one else would understand. Drinking is the driving force to so many get-togethers, and I let that steer what I did and who I hung out with for the bulk of my adult life. In the beginning, I simply dodged hanging out with friends altogether. Having two active kids made it easy to give excuses about being too busy. I sat alone with the secret of my sobriety, which should have felt more like a feather than a bomb.

After a couple of months of sobriety , though, I started feeling good — really good. My head was clear. I looked forward to little adventures with my kids, like trail hiking, because my energy started to soar. I said yes to bedtime requests for "one more book," and let my kids' energy fuel me instead of deplete me.

My nerves about telling others began to evaporate because of the empowerment I felt on the inside.

I told my husband I'd quit drinking first

First, I opened up to my husband. We'd met in college, where we both guzzled anything you put in front of us, so I was worried about how he'd take it. Luckily, he met my sobriety with curiosity instead of fear and saw how much it benefited my mood and overall health. Then, after almost a year of my own sobriety, my husband gave up drinking, too.

Next, I started telling my friends. I always had the conversation on the phone and before a social event so I didn't have to discuss it in public. I didn't want anyone to feel like I was judging them, and I also didn't want them to peer pressure me into drinking. I'm embarrassed to admit that, now — that as a woman in her late 30s, I still struggled with peer pressure.

But now that I've been sober for over four years, I know that some of my friends were probably mourning the old me. The "fun" me. They'd say things like, "So, you're not going to have any drinks? Like not even one?" Or even, "What about an edible?"

I'd say no to this subtle peer pressure because my mental health was worth more to me than partying. Being present with my kids was worth it. I was worth it. All in all, some of my friends embraced the new me while others didn't really jibe with the new awakened version of me. So, my circle of friends is now smaller — and that's OK.

Now that I'm not drinking, I wake up ready to parent and to be there for my family. I can give them what they need by giving myself what I need — sobriety.

Sure, I stopped drinking in secret. But now, I share it boldly, in hopes that it can help someone step into a dive bar for their last time, too.
