travel nursing assignments in ohio

Amanda Goad is the most amazing recruiter I have worked with. She is the most responsive and go-getter. She is in constant contact with you or hospitals to get you offers and/or advocating for you. She is super motivated and helpful. If you have the opportunity to use her, you will not regret it.

travel nursing assignments in ohio

Needed to move across country to be next to my partner, but blindly jumping into a full time job for a hospital system I was not familiar with was out of the question. Host Healthcare (Natalie G specifically) stood by me and helped me fulfill my absurdly specific requests. I was a first time time traveler and I couldn't have made it without the support I received!
Just finished my first contract with Host Healthcare (fifth overall) and they were amazing! Specifically my recruiter Jenny Berroth. Jenny was so helpful and easy to communicate with. I had a couple issues come up and Jenny was all over them and took care of everything so I could just concentrate on being a nurse, while she handled the rest. I can’t recommend Host and Jenny enough! You have to give Host and Jenny a try, you’ll be glad you did!

The response time from my recruiter and nurse specialist is amazing! They both have been so great to work with on my first assignment out in California!!! Chad and Samantha both are super caring and very responsive! I already extended my contract with the hospital because of the smooth process. They made the transition from Florida to California a lot loss stressful than I imagined. Would definitely recommend them both!!!

My recruiter, and other staff I have had the pleasure of interacting with, are all so friendly and helpful. My recruiter is responsive, and even reached out while she was on vacation to check on me! I’ve worked with other agencies in the past, but Stability is next level when it comes to making your travel nursing experience as seamless as possible! Special shout out to Lindsay (best recruiter ever) and Tracy. Amazing people to work with.

Brittany J.

My recruiter is very responsive and personable. I have NEVER had any issues with them!! This agency even has PTO! None of my co workers with other agencies have this benefit!! Also the rates are equal or higher than most other agencies!! Everything feels more like family than business and for that I would choose stability over any other agency!! I am so happy I chose to work with them!

Sopheare C.

My recruiter Amanda is amazing and always timely with her responses. Debbie who is my nurse experience specialist who is with me all times of the contract is truly awesome. Love how responsive she is and will answer any and all my questions. Big thanks to Jesse my compliance coordinator for making all the appointments and getting me travel ready. Can’t thank my team enough for all they do. Any question or issue I have they resolve right away. And I love that they breakdown each contract into a spread so you know exactly what your getting for the terms of the contract.

I have been incredibly impressed by the professionalism, ease of communication, ability to have all requirements for onboarding fulfilled in a timely manner, and just overall outstanding service. Lindsay Hernandez is my particular recruiter and she has been a pleasure to work with, as well as all the team members at Stability. I’m looking forward to staying with them for my next assignment. I highly recommend them to my nursing friends, and anyone looking to travel as a nurse!

Travel Nursing Jobs in Ohio: Opportunities in 2024

Healthcare facilities have been paying premium rates for traveling nurses in Ohio

Last Updated on February 19, 2024 by Admin

In the current climate, travel nursing opportunities are everywhere for the healthcare personnel willing to seek them out. Travel nurse opportunities are prevalent across the country, including Ohio, leaving individuals to choose where they go that wasn’t previously available. Whether you seek a travel nursing assignment down the road or across the country, the right fit is there!

Being a traveling RN is an adventure, where those who seek it out will be rewarded with lucrative pay opportunities. With an average annual pay of approximately $30,000 above that of a staff healthcare provider, a travel nurse could begin to bring in an income significantly higher than what is available in their area.

As with all worthwhile endeavors, being a traveler has challenges. Healthcare providers are tested daily, both personally and professionally. Still, hard work can quickly establish yourself in new locations, including centrally-based Ohio, where you can develop lifelong relationships with team members you would have never met.

Supplementing Your Travel RN Income

Page Contents

Working with an agency is a unique opportunity. The phrase “traveler” can sometimes be a misnomer. One does not necessarily have to travel far to find an assignment. Travelers have contracted employees used as supplemental support for a facility in need. These facilities could be within a reasonable driving distance from your staff position.

Previously restricted schedules were not considered. However, with the need for nurses continuing to grow, facilities will often work with persons who provide a clear plan of availability. Adding a guarantee of 2 or 3 additional shifts for a set period of time, often 8-13 weeks, can lead to life-changing increases in annual income.

Working a part-time assignment of 2 shifts a week for 13 weeks could potentially add $26,000+ into the pockets of willing healthcare professionals.

The flexibility and adaptability inherent in these roles make travel nurses a critical component in the dynamic landscape of healthcare.

How the Nature of Travel Nursing Impacts Earnings

Travel nursing assignments inherently offer higher earning potential compared to permanent positions. This is largely due to the urgent and temporary nature of the roles, necessitating premium compensation to attract qualified candidates. Factors such as location, specialty, and the duration of the assignment significantly influence the salary range.

Facilities across the United States, from bustling urban hospitals to rural clinics, depend on travel nurses to address staffing shortages. In areas where the demand for healthcare services is high but the supply of local nurses is low, travel nurses can command even higher wages, reflecting the critical need for their services.

Travel nurses often receive additional financial incentives, including housing allowances, travel reimbursement, and completion bonuses, making for an appealing career choice .

Factors Influencing the Role and Salary of Travel Nurses

A myriad of factors shapes the role and salary of travel nurses, chief among them being specialty, location, and the length of the assignment. Nurses specializing in high-demand areas such as intensive care, emergency room, and labor and delivery tend to receive higher salaries. The geographical region plays a critical role as well; areas with a higher cost of living or those experiencing acute staffing shortages typically offer more competitive pay.

The assignment's duration also affects earnings; longer assignments may offer more stability and higher compensation. A nurse’s level of experience and credentials, such as holding advanced certifications, can significantly influence their earning potential in travel nursing jobs.

Average Travel Nurse Salary in Ohio

The average travel nurse salary in Ohio underscores the state's demand for skilled nursing professionals in various healthcare settings. With a landscape of both urban and rural facilities, Ohio offers a broad spectrum of opportunities for travel nurses. The average salary reflects competitive compensation, attracting a dedicated workforce to the state.

Urban centers like Cleveland and Columbus tend to offer higher wages due to the higher cost of living and greater demand for healthcare services while more rural and smaller areas might pay lower wages.

Ohio travel nursing jobs span across specialties, offering roles from acute care settings such as progressive care units to more specialized areas like med-surg. The diversity of assignments ensures that travel nurses can find opportunities that align with their skills and interests, contributing to the state's healthcare system's overall resilience and quality of care.

As the healthcare sector continues to evolve, travel nurse salaries in Ohio are expected to remain competitive, reflecting both the crucial role these professionals play and the state's commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare.

Comparisons of Travel Nurse Salaries in the U.S.

When examining travel nurse salaries across the United States, significant regional variations emerge. States like California and New York often offer higher salaries to account for their elevated cost of living and the intense demand for healthcare professionals. In contrast, states such as West Virginia may offer lower base salaries but can be highly competitive when considering the cost of living adjustment.

Ohio positions itself as a compelling option for travel nurses, considering both the salary and the quality of life the state offers. It balances competitive compensation with a lower cost of living compared to coastal states, making it an attractive region for travel nurses seeking both professional growth and financial stability.

Factors such as statewide nurse-to-patient ratios, living costs, and local healthcare needs play critical roles in shaping these regional salary differences, informing travel nurses as they make decisions about their next assignments.

Overall, Ohio has roughly 9% lower cost of living than the rest of America. This becomes extremely important and obvious with housing prices. Ohio’s housing is 23% lower than the rest of America which is quite substantial. According to BestPlaces.net , a 1 bedroom house/apartment costs $695 monthly in Ohio compared to the national average of $1048. Basic food and other necessities lie just around the average line. With all the factors combined, Ohio can lead to a profitable contract for travel nurses.

Pros & Cons of Travel Nursing in Ohio

Pros of travel nursing in ohio.

  • Some of the current contracts pay well, especially when compared to the average cost of living in the state.
  • Due to the central location, there is a lot of access to surrounding states and additional fun.
  • There are many opportunities to enjoy the culture outside of work. No matter the season, Ohio always has some kind of professional or college sports to watch.
  • There are diverse job opportunities, with many current job openings throughout the state for almost all specialties of nursing. There is a much higher chance of finding a job for specialists here than in some more competitive states.
  • You can enjoy cities full of arts and culture and have a variety of day-off adventures at your fingertips with three large cities in the state.

Cons of travel nursing in Ohio

  • Ohio is probably not the first state that comes to mind when debating travel nursing assignments due to the more limited outdoor adventures.
  • If you do not already have a compact license, you would need to apply for the Ohio license.
  • If you are not a fan of the cold, don’t consider Ohio in the winter. Winter months are known to be cold, dreary, and harsh.
  • Not a fan of humidity? Maybe reconsider Ohio in the summer. Summers are hot and humid and can leave you feeling sticky and gross. Sticking with spring and fall is a safer bet.
  • Limited public transportation. If getting around the cities by public transportation is something you value, then maybe reconsider Ohio. Or just go in knowing that the transportation system is not as fully developed as in other large cities. On the other hand, traffic may be better than in more populated cities or states, so having a personal car and finding parking may be much less of a problem.

The state also has professional baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and soccer teams that you can cheer on. Unless you are familiar with Ohio, you might not realize that it is the 6th largest wine-producing area in the United States and has over 300 wineries ! So grab your friends, plan a little day trip, and sip your way across the state. Then head over to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and take a journey through time and listen to some blasts from the past.

Ohio is a hidden gem of a state. Although it consistently has to fight for its name due to the large rivalry it has with Michigan, Ohio has some amazing qualities. There are ample job opportunities for travelers at the moment, and they even can be quite lucrative. Ohio provides a wide range of activities and day-off adventures that could lead to a memorable travel nursing contract.
