Assignment cover page is the first page of an assignment. When you hold an assignment, the first page that you will see is the cover page. It is also called the title page. An assignment cover page includes the name of the institution, the title of the assignment, the name of the student and student’s ID. The assignment cover page is helpful in identifying what the assignment is about and which student submitted it.

Many students submit assignments to instructors, and instructors are usually teaching more than one subject. Therefore, without an assignment cover page, it would be difficult for the instructor to manage and sort out different assignments.

When there is an assignment cover page, instructors can easily sort out the assignments and grade them. Even the students submitting multiple assignments on the same day could end up submitting the wrong assignment if the assignments didn’t have a cover page.

Another important reason for having assignment cover pages is that this is part of training students to submit work professionally. An assignment cover page shows professionalism in submitting work. When students are trained for professional work, they are better equipped at succeeding in their jobs. Thus, professors and instructors usually ask students to create cover pages for their assignments so that the students develop this habit early in their academic life.

The assignment cover page usually includes the name of the institution, title of the assignment, name of the student, student id, date of submission. In some cases, the title page may also mention the instructor name. Usually, the title page is not page numbered.

Some courses might also require the students to format the assignment cover pages using popular referencing styles. Templates let you configure all the relevant settings you want pre-applied to documents---page layout, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, and so on. You can then easily create a new document based on that template.

When you save a document as a template, you can then use that template to create new documents. Those new documents contain all the text (and images, and other content) that the template contains. They also have all the same page layout settings, sections, and styles as the template. Templates can save you a lot of time when you're creating multiple documents that need to have a consistent layout, format, and some boilerplate text.

The first thing you're going to want to do is craft your document the way you want new documents to appear. Strip the text (and images, and so on) down to just the boilerplate material you want to appear in new documents. Go ahead and set up your page layout (margins, sections, columns, etc.), as well as any formatting and styles you want to use.

When you've got the document looking how you want, it's time to save it as a template. Open the "File" menu, and then click the "Save As" command.

Select where you want to save your document.

After typing a name for your template, open the dropdown menu underneath the name field, and then choose the "Word Template (*.dotx)" option.

Click the "Save" button.

That's it. You have now saved your custom Word template.

Once you have saved your custom template, you can then create new documents based on it. The easiest way to do this is to just fire up Word.

Its opening splash screen shows a bunch of featured templates that are either built-in or downloadable. At the top of the window, click the "PERSONAL" link to show your custom templates. Then, all you have to do is click the template you want, and Word creates a new document based on it.

By default, Word likes to save templates to Documents\Custom Office Templates, where they'll show up alongside templates you create in any other Office app.

When you save a template, you can choose a different location if you want. The trouble is that if you save it in a different location, Word may not be able to pick it up and display it on the splash screen as an option. If that's not a big deal to you, then save them anywhere you like. You can still create a new document based on the template by just double-clicking the file.

You can also open the template in Word so that you can edit it by right-clicking the file, and then choosing the "Open" command from the context menu.

If you want an even more organized approach, you can change the default location where Excel saves templates. This lets you save templates where you want (though they still need to all be in the same location) and be able to access them on Word's splash screen.

On the “File” menu, click the “Options” command. In the “Word Options” window, slick the “Save” category on the left. On the right, type the path where you want to save templates in the "Default personal templates location" box. Click "OK" when you're done.

In the end, Word templates are functionally much like regular Word documents. The big difference lies in how Word handles those files, making it easy for you to create new documents based on them.

An assignment agreement is a legal document that transfers rights, responsibilities, and benefits from one party (the “assignor”) to another (the “assignee”). You can use it to reassign debt, real estate, intellectual property, leases, insurance policies, and government contracts.

An assignment agreement effectively transfers the rights and obligations of a person or entity under an initial contract to another. The original party is the assignor, and the assignee takes on the contract’s duties and benefits.

It’s often a requirement to let the other party in the original deal know the contract is being transferred. It’s essential to create this form thoughtfully, as a poorly written assignment agreement may leave the assignor obligated to certain aspects of the deal.

The most common use of an assignment agreement occurs when the assignor no longer can or wants to continue with a contract. Instead of leaving the initial party or breaking the agreement, the assignor can transfer the contract to another individual or entity.

For example, imagine a small residential trash collection service plans to close its operations. Before it closes, the business brokers a deal to send its accounts to a curbside pickup company providing similar services. After notifying account holders, the latter company continues the service while receiving payment.

Create a thorough assignment agreement by including the following information:

  • Effective Date:  The document must indicate when the transfer of rights and obligations occurs.
  • Parties:  Include the full name and address of the assignor, assignee, and obligor (if required).
  • Assignment:  Provide details that identify the original contract being assigned.
  • Third-Party Approval: If the initial contract requires the approval of the obligor, note the date the approval was received.
  • Signatures:  Both parties must sign and date the printed assignment contract template once completed. If a notary is required, wait until you are in the presence of the official and present identification before signing. Failure to do so may result in having to redo the assignment contract.

Review the Contract Terms

Carefully review the terms of the existing contract. Some contracts may have specific provisions regarding assignment. Check for any restrictions or requirements related to assigning the contract.

Check for Anti-Assignment Clauses

Some contracts include anti-assignment clauses that prohibit or restrict the ability to assign the contract without the consent of the other party. If there’s such a clause, you may need the consent of the original parties to proceed.

Determine Assignability

Ensure that the contract is assignable. Some contracts, especially those involving personal services or unique skills, may not be assignable without the other party’s agreement.

Get Consent from the Other Party (if Required)

If the contract includes an anti-assignment clause or requires consent for assignment, seek written consent from the other party. This can often be done through a formal amendment to the contract.

Prepare an Assignment Agreement

Draft an assignment agreement that clearly outlines the transfer of rights and obligations from the assignor (the party assigning the contract) to the assignee (the party receiving the assignment). Include details such as the names of the parties, the effective date of the assignment, and the specific rights and obligations being transferred.

Include Original Contract Information

Attach a copy of the original contract or reference its key terms in the assignment agreement. This helps in clearly identifying the contract being assigned.

Execution of the Assignment Agreement

Both the assignor and assignee should sign the assignment agreement. Signatures should be notarized if required by the contract or local laws.

Notice to the Other Party

Provide notice of the assignment to the non-assigning party. This can be done formally through a letter or as specified in the contract.

File the Assignment

File the assignment agreement with the appropriate parties or entities as required. This may include filing with the original contracting party or relevant government authorities.

Communicate with Third Parties

Inform any relevant third parties, such as suppliers, customers, or service providers, about the assignment to ensure a smooth transition.

Keep Copies for Records

Keep copies of the assignment agreement, original contract, and any related communications for your records.

Here’s a list of steps on how to write an assignment agreement:

Step 1 – List the Assignor’s and Assignee’s Details

List all of the pertinent information regarding the parties involved in the transfer. This information includes their full names, addresses, phone numbers, and other relevant contact information.

This step clarifies who’s transferring the initial contract and who will take on its responsibilities.

Step 2 – Provide Original Contract Information

Describing and identifying the contract that is effectively being reassigned is essential. This step avoids any confusion after the transfer has been completed.

Step 3 – State the Consideration

Provide accurate information regarding the amount the assignee pays to assume the contract. This figure should include taxes and any relevant peripheral expenses. If the assignee will pay the consideration over a period, indicate the method and installments.

Step 4 – Provide Any Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions of any agreement are crucial to a smooth transaction. You must cover issues such as dispute resolution, governing law, obligor approval, and any relevant clauses.

Step 5 – Obtain Signatures

Both parties must sign the agreement to ensure it is legally binding and that they have read and understood the contract. If a notary is required, wait to sign off in their presence.

How to Do a RACI Matrix Using a Microsoft Word Template

A Microsoft Word RACI template is a project matrix that shows who is responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed for each project task. Use a RACI template to clarify project roles and responsibilities among team members.  

RACI matrices help project teams avoid confusion about pending project tasks and to oversee tasks assigned to team members outside the department. Whereas a project timeline enables you to add tasks, task owners, due dates, and statuses, a RACI matrix shows all the key individuals involved in the completion of a task. 

RACI is an acronym for responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed . Consult this list when deciding which letter to assign each team member:  

  • Responsible: Assign an R to the team member who is responsible for completing the task. 
  • Accountable: Assign an A to the individual who is accountable for ensuring the task is completed by the assignee.  
  • Consulted: Assign a C to the individual who has been consulted on the task. 
  • Informed: Assign an I to the individual who has been informed that the task has been created. 

While individual templates may vary, most RACI templates for Microsoft Word typically include the following components: 

  • Project Title: Provide the name of the project to which you will apply RACI matrix attributes. 
  • Project Manager: Enter the name of the project manager responsible for ensuring the project is completed.  
  • Phase: Enter the project phase under which you will assign each task and RACI matrix component. 
  • Task Description: Provide a brief summary for each task that must be completed. 
  • RACI: Designate which team members or interdepartmental stakeholders are responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed for each task, per the RACI matrix . 
  • Percentage Complete: Provide a percentage of completion for each task.
  • Due Date: Set a due date by which the task or deliverable must be completed. 
  • Status: Include the status of the task so that team members and other stakeholders are aware of how close it is to completion. 
  • Notes: Add any relevant notes related to RACI matrix roles and responsibilities for each project task or deliverable.

RACI Templates for ITIL

RACI templates are also helpful to IT departments using the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). ITIL is a set of practices for IT service management (ITSM), IT change management (ITCM), and IT incident management. ITIL RACI templates apply RACI matrix attributes to ITIL efforts, so that it’s clear to all IT personnel and stakeholders which IT team members are responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed for any given IT task.
