My Favourite Place Mahabaleshwar | Essay

India is surely a popular tourist destination, not only among our own countrymen but also among the international traveler, who consider our country as one of their favorite destinations. The reasons for this choice are many. India is well known for its pilgrimage spots, ancient caves, sightseeing places, weekend getaways, museums, popular monuments, hill stations and the list goes on.

People who have a religious bent of mind prefer visiting temples and other pilgrimage places to offer their prayers, hill stations are more popular amongst the younger crowds.

Monuments and archaeological sites are a favorite for the inquisitive traveler who wants to dig deep into our country’s historical roots. Sightseeing spots and picnic places are for those who want to have fun during the weekends after a long week at work.

The reason why hill stations are so popular among the youth is because they provide a relaxing holiday to the people after they have spent an entire week tirelessly at work. Nature appears at its best in any hill station and that’s the reason people get away to hill stations to enjoy the calm, serene nature.

The beauty and magnitude of nature’s powers can be felt in the calm mountain ranges; a stroll in the nearby lake provides soothing effects to the mind. Honeymoon travelers prefer hill stations as it gives them lot of privacy to spend time with their spouses and experience the beauty of nature.

The cool greenery all around gives a soothing effect to the mind and makes one wonder about the magnificent nature in all its grandeur.   

Some of the most popular hill stations of India are Ooty, Darjeeling, Mount Abu, Nainital, Shimla, Kodaikanal, Yercaud, Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, Matheran, Waynad, Mussorie, and many more.

The scenic beauty of nature can be experienced in all these hill stations and the connectivity provided to reach them is also good, hence they are very popular and preferred places.

There are certain months of the year when one should visit when it’s ideal time to visit and also certain other times when the weather becomes unfavorable, hence best to avoid at those times.

Hill stations are usually very calm during the summer season and that’s when most of the children have vacations at schools and colleges.

So people prefer going out at summers to these hill stations to beat the summer heat in cities and escape to a cooler and much quieter place.

During winters, the weather becomes very chill and intolerable for those not used to variations in weather so it’s practically best to avoid visiting in such seasons. But every place has its own story to offer and hence its best to contact the concerned tourism department housed at the particular location before planning a journey.

Mahabaleshwar is a serene and quiet hill station, located in Satara district of Maharashtra state. The hill station can be located in the beautiful Sahyadri hill range that offers spectacular views of nature and beauty unlimited of the hill area. Let us now understand the connection of Mahabaleshwar with ancient mythology.

The name Mahabaleshwar can be split into three parts namely – Maha, bala and Eshwar.

Maha means something that is huge and magnificent, bala means strength or power, Eshwar is the other name given to Lord Shiva. In short, the place signifies a very magnificent seat of almighty’s power.

In olden days, Britishers chose to visit the place as a summer getaway when they could not bear the scorching summer heat and had their own grand stays at the hill station.

In fact, like many kings who choose to have a different summer capital during the summer days, the British heads too preferred a cooler place to beat the heat and the rulers of the province of Bombay chose Mahabaleshwar as their ideal summer capital and the preferred destination for a few summer months.

The valley of Mahabaleshwar is as beautiful as any other scenic landscape and offers highly spectacular views from different places. The very ancient Mahadev temple located in this hill station is what gave the name to the small town.

It is very famous for being the powerful source of divinity and sacred truths that brought the name Mahabaleshwar to the hill station.

River Krishna finds its source in this hill station and starting from here, the river can be seen sharing its waters across the states of its own home state Maharashtra first of all, further continuing towards Karnataka, and then to the Telugu regions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

People usually converse in Marathi as it is the local language of the region. We may also find Hindi speakers mainly for business purposes. The town of Mahabaleshwar consists of three villages – Malcolm Peth, village of Shindola and also Old Mahabaleshwar where one can visit the Mahadev temple.   

The Land of Strawberries

The hill station of Mahabaleshwar is covered by beautiful valleys all around where strawberries are grown in abundance. Our country receives the maximum production of strawberries from this region as the cool climate makes it favorable for the cultivation of strawberries.

The government of India bestowed upon the Mahabaleshwar strawberries, the pride of this place, with a GI or Geographical Indication tag and brought glory to the region and the growers of strawberry. It gave them a reason to be proud of their cultivation and the intellectual property rights gave them legal rights for its cultivation and production.

As we know the place is famous for strawberries, one can have plenty of ice-creams, milkshakes, jams and jellies prepared from the fruit.

One can enjoy the delicious variety of milk shakes and ice creams that are on offer at various stalls during the tourist season. One can even go shopping for purchasing strawberry preparations and delights and can take home many packs with them.  

Popular places to Visit  

Some very famous viewpoints that offer high risen and spectacular view points of the entire valley are Wilson point, Parsi point, Elephant’s point and Babington point. The Wilson point is quite popular and everyone chooses to visit this point without fail as it gives the most spectacular views of both sunrise and sunset that one can’t afford to miss when at this place.

The other points are also very popular choices as they offer high altitude and elevated views to experience the beauty of the valley. The Pratapgadh fort is a very old, ancient fort where the battle of Pratapgadh was fought. This fort was built in the 17 th  century and it draws lots of tourists from all over the country today.

A beautiful lake stands still among the valleys of Mahabaleshwar that was once built by Appasaheb Maharaj in 1842 and named Venna Lake. The Chinaman and Lingmala waterfalls offer mesmerizing views from the top, adding to the beauty of the valley.

Sir Arthur used to sit a point with his wife to enjoy the breathtaking views of Krishna river from a point, now famously known as the Arthur point, named after him. It needs a little climbing up to the actual point and there are many points from this main point and require around two to three hours to actually view and enjoy all the surrounding points from there.

Next, let’s look at how to reach Mahabaleshwar. Mahabaleshwar is easily connected by road and rail transport systems. The nearest railways station from Mahabaleshwar is the Wathar station, which is about 60 kilometers from the place. The other nearest point to Mahabaleshwar would definitely be Pune.

Government services offer plenty of bus transport services from Pune and Mumbai to Mahabaleshwar and one can easily hire a taxi to reach the place. There are plenty of restaurants offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food at the hill station.

Tourists can go shopping at the town bazaar that offers many varieties for shopping lovers. A nearby hill station that one should not miss when at Mahabaleshwar is the Panchgani hill station. It is a 37 kilometer drive from Mahabaleshwar to Panchgani through the Mahabaleshwar-Panchgani road and one can enjoy various breathtaking points and views along the journey.

    गोव्याने मला         बोलावल्यासारखे         वाटते .     मी जेव्हा जेव्हा 'गोवा' म्हणतो तेव्हा माझ्या संपूर्ण आत्म्यात उत्साहाची ठिणगी पेटते.     गोवा हे असे         रमणीय         ठिकाण आहे.     नावानेच माझ्या कफजन्य मनःस्थितीला उद्दामपणा         येतो         .     जेव्हा लोक भारतात सुट्टीसाठी जाण्यासाठी चांगल्या ठिकाणांबद्दल बोलतात तेव्हा मी गोव्याबद्दल बोलण्यास विरोध करू शकत नाही.

My most favorite place is my grandparent’s house. It is located in a village. It only has 5 rooms but it is very well constructed.

The walls of the house are painted with white color and from inside, it is very colorful. My grandfather personally took part in building this house and he made this house with so much love.

This house also has backyard where my grandma used to grow fruits and vegetables. I have always been more excited to spend my summer holidays at this place.

I spend all my summers there and that is the best time of my life. I play on the yard, climb the trees to pick fresh fruits and eat fresh vegetables. I also help my grandma to plant seeds in the garden.

There are countless reasons to explain why this place is so important for me. There is something very special about that house. I feel comfortable and relaxed there. I also forget all my worries there.

Firstly, this house has a very different atmosphere like I feel complete warmth there. It is located in a village so it is free of any noise or air pollution. It is also free of traffic jams.

I get up early in the morning to go for a walk and breathe fresh air. The fresh air makes my body and mind fresh. My grandmother makes breakfast for me enriched in vitamins.

Evenings are most fun there. My grandfather makes tea, we sit together and then we share our life stories. My grandparent’s place is a place for family gatherings.

There is a big dinner prepared on weekends and everyone is expected to come. All my relatives get there to spend time together. Our talk sessions are always fun and full of laughter.

In summers, everything is blossoming there and there are fresh flowers everywhere. Nature’s beauty at my village is at extreme point and one cannot remove his eyes from the beautiful views.

There is a pond behind the house. I go to the pond to catch fishes and sit with my cousins. On the left side of my grandparent’s house, there is a small garden too which is covered with luscious green grass.

There are swings in the garden too. I also play many fun games with my cousins there like water war or fighting water balloons.

At night, I usually sit on the roof looking up at the sky and beautiful stars. I feel so calm to feel the gentle breeze and the moon light shining down on me.

Life in village is very simple and healthy. People are always available and they do care for each other. They care about the cleanliness of the place and keep it clean.

I anxiously wait for my summers holidays so that I can go and spend time with my grandma and grandpa. They are the humblest people I have ever known.

मला आवडतं स्थळ हा माझ्या गावाचं छोटं सर्वसाधारण खुर्दीचं मार्ग आहे. तो माझ्या आवडत्या दिलेल्या जागांपैकी आहे. मला ह्या छोट्या स्थळाची सोबत अनेक आठवणी आहेत.

या स्थळाची एक विशेषता आहे. त्याच्या चारचुका दिलेल्या गावाच्या माझ्या घराच्या जवळच्या आहे. त्याच्या आवडत्या पाडव्यामुळे माझ्या जवळच्या गावात अत्यंत चिकण्या सुखाची वात आहे. सणांच्या दिवशी त्या वाताच्या ताटाने खेळणारे बालक अत्यंत आनंदी आहे.

या स्थळाच्या जवळच्या जंगलाच्या कासवाच्या पिशव्यामुळे एकदम निर्मितीच्या अनुभवात आनंद होतो. अशाच अनेक सर्वसाधारण आणि चिरपरिणामी क्षणांसाठी आवडतं स्थळ हा माझ्या बचपनाच्या खुप आठवणीला घेऊन आलंय.

तसेच आपल्या भारत देशातील बहुतांश ठिकाणांना निसर्गाचा वारसा देखील लाभलेला आहे. जन्माला आलेल्या प्रत्येक व्यक्तीला फिरायला आवडते वेगवेगळ्या ठिकाणी जाऊन तेथील ऐतिहासिक तसेच निसर्गमय ठिकाणाचा आनंद घ्यायला आपल्यातील सर्वांनाच आवडत असेल!!

आपल्या भारत देशात नवनवीन ठिकाणी फिरायला आणि तेथील ठिकाणाचा आनंद घेण्यासाठी विविध पर्यटनस्थळे आहेत. ज्या ठिकाणी जाऊन आपण आपले दुःख विसरून थकवा विसरून जीवनाचा खरा आनंद घेऊ शकतो. परंतु मी आज पर्यंत पाहिलेल्या सर्व पर्यटन स्थळांपैकी माझे आवडते ठिकाण म्हणजे महाबळेश्वर होय.

महाबळेश्वर हे ठिकाण महाराष्ट्रातील सातारा जिल्ह्यातील एक थंड हवेचे ठिकाण म्हणून पर्यटकांसाठी प्रसिद्ध आहे. निसर्गाचा सुंदर असा वारसा लाभलेल्या या ठिकाणाला वर्षभरामध्ये लाखो पर्यटक भेट देतात. त्यामुळे महाबळेश्वरला महाराष्ट्राचे नंदनवन म्हणून ओळखले जाते.

ब्रिटिश काळापासूनच महाबळेश्वरला उत्कू गिरीस्थान म्हणजेच डोंगराळ भाग लाभलेला आहे आणि तो आज देखील कायम आहे. चोही बाजूने डोंगराळ भागाने वेढलेले हे महाबळेश्वर पर्यटकांसाठी खरंच एक आकर्षणाचं ठिकाण आहे.

महाबळेश्वर हे ठिकाण समुद्रसपाटीपासून सुमारे 1 हजार 372 मीटर उंचीवर असून पश्चिम घाटाच्या डोंगराळ रांगेत वसलेले अतिशय थंड हवेचे ठिकाण आहे.

महाबळेश्वर हे ठिकाण पुणे शहरापासून सुमारे 120 किलोमीटरच्या अंतरावर स्थित आहे. उत्तर मुंबई पासून महाबळेश्वर हे 285 किलोमीटरच्या अंतरावर आहे.

मित्रांनो महाबळेश्वरला विल्सन पॉइंट या नावाने देखील ओळखले जाते. निसर्गरम्य असलेले ठिकाण मळकोम पेठ, जुने क्षेत्र महाबळेश्वर आणि आणि सिंडोल चा भाग अशा तीन खेडे गावांची मिळवण्यात महाबळेश्वर या शहराची निर्मिती झाली.

महाराष्ट्रातील मुख्य नद्या पैकी एक असलेली नदी म्हणजे कृष्णा नदीचा उगम हा महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणाहून झाला त्यामुळे महाबळेश्वरच्या सुंदर्ते मध्ये आणखीन भर पडली आहे. याशिवाय महाबळेश्वरचे हवामान हे स्ट्रॉबेरी या फळाची साठी सर्वोत्कृष्ट आहे, त्यामुळे महाबळेश्वर येथे स्ट्रॉबेरीचे उत्पादन मोठ्या प्रमाणामध्ये केले जाते. भारत देशाच्या एकूण स्ट्रॉबेरी उत्पादनापैकी सुमारे 85 टक्के स्ट्रॉबेरीचे उत्पादन एकट्या महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणाहून होते.

पर्यटनाच्या दृष्टीने अतिशय सुंदर असलेले महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणी महादेवाचे मोठे मंदिर आहे. या मंदिराची निर्मिती यादव राजा सिंघनदेव याने तेराव्या शतकात केली असावी.

तसेच डोंगराळ प्रदेशात असलेल्या महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणी घनदाट वनश्री देखील आहे. महाबळेश्वर चे सुंदर रूप पाहायचे असेल तर पावसाळ्याच्या दिवसांमध्ये महाबळेश्वर शहराला नक्कीच भेट द्यावी. महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणी पावसाचे प्रमाण जास्त असल्याने पावसाळ्याच्या दिवसात येतील प्रदेश जलमय दिसतो. महाबळेश्वर येथील निसर्गसौंदर्य खंडाळा-लोणावळा, युवा माथेरान सारखे असलेले येथील पॉईंट्स महाबळेश्वर याला आणखीच सौंदर्य प्राप्त करून देतात.

महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणी असलेल्या निसर्गमय पॉईंट्स मुळे महाबळेश्वर हे पर्यटकांच्या दृष्टीने एक आकर्षणाचे केंद्र बनले आहे. पर्यटकांसाठी आवडीचे असलेले फळ स्ट्रॉबेरी, रासबेरी आणि जांभळाचा मध व व लाल मुळे हे महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणी खूप प्रसिद्ध आणि लोकप्रिय आहेत.

त्यातल्या त्यात महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणी मिळणारा मध तर खूपच चविष्ट आणि प्रसिद्ध आहे तसेच या ठिकाणी मिळणारे गुलकंद देखील देशभरामध्ये प्रसिद्ध आहे.

तसेच महाबळेश्वर येथील बाजारपेठेमध्ये येणाऱ्या पर्यटकांसाठी लोकरीचे कपडे, स्वेटर, चामड्याचे पट्टे, चण्याचे पाकीट इत्यादी वस्तू मोठ्या प्रमाणात मिळतात. तसेच महाबळेश्वर येथील चणे- फुटाणे देखील खूप प्रसिद्ध आहेत.

तसेच महाबळेश्वर येथील कृष्णा, कोयना, गायत्री, सावित्री वेंना सरस्वती आणि भागीरथी या पाच नद्यांचे उगम स्थान पर्यटकांसाठी बघण्यासारखे आहे.ं

तसेच मित्रांनो तुम्ही कधी महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणी गेलात तर तेथील मंकी पॉईंट, आर्थर सीट पॉइंट, नीडल हॉल पॉइंट, एलिफंट हेड पॉईंट आणि विल्सन पॉइंट हे पॉइंट पाहणे कधीही विसरू नका.

तसेच महाबळेश्वर पासून महाड रस्त्याने 21 किलोच्या अंतरावर प्रतापगड आहे. त्यामुळे महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणाला भेट द्यायला आलेले पर्यटक प्रतापगड किल्ल्याला भेट देण्यासाठी नक्कीच जातात. त्या प्रमाणेच महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणी असलेला लिंगमळा धबधबा हासुद्धा पर्यटकांच्या आकर्षणाचे एक मुख्य स्थान आहे. हा धबधबा साधारणता सहाशे फूट उंचीवरून थेट वेंना तलावात पडतो.

तसेच पर्यटकांसाठी आणखी एक बघण्यासारखे ठिकाण म्हणजे जुना महाबळेश्वर या ठिकाणापासून सात किलोमीटरच्या अंतरावर खूप प्रेक्षणीय ठिकाणे आहेत त्यामध्ये पाच जुनी मंदिरे आहेत जी जुन्या काळातील भारतीय वास्तुकलेचे दर्शन घडवितात.

महाबळेश्वर हे ठिकाण नैसर्गिकरीत्या अतिशय सुंदर असे ठिकाण आहे. पर्यटकांच्या दृष्टीने महत्त्वाचे आणि निसर्गाच्या दृष्टीने अग्रेसर असलेले हे ठिकाण माझे आवडते ठिकाण आहे.

शिस्त पाळावी, अक्षर चांगले काढावे, स्वच्छता पाळावी ह्या गोष्टी त्या आम्हाला शिकवतात. माझ्या चांगल्या अक्षराचे बाईंना खूप कौतुक वाटते. मला त्यांनी वगांची मॉनिटर केले आहे.

आमच्या वर्गाच्या हस्तलिखित मासिकाच्या तयारीसाठी आम्ही मुले बाईंच्या घरी गेलो होतो. बाईंचे घरही नीटनेटके आहे.

बाईंचा मला आधार वाटतो. शाळा सोडल्यावरही मी बाईंना कधीही विसरणार नाही.

माझे आवडते शिक्षक.

आमच्या शाळेत अनेक शिक्षक आहेत. सगळे शिक्षक खूप चांगले शिकवातात. शाळेतील प्रत्येक शिक्षकां विषयी आम्हाला आदर आहेच, पण माझे सर्वात आवडते शिक्षक म्हणजे काळे सर. काळे सर हे सर्वांचेच खूप आवडते शिक्षक आहेत. त्यांची शिकवण्याची पद्धत इतर शिक्षकांपेक्षा वेगळी आहे. ते आम्हाला गणित आणि इंग्रजी शिकवतात. काळे सर सातवी ते दहावीच्या मुलांना शिकवतात. जर मुलांना गणितात व इंग्रजीत काही येत नसेल तर त्या मुलांकडून सर अधिक लक्ष देतात आणि त्यांच्या कडून अधिक मेहनत करून घेतात. बऱ्याचदा काही जणांना शिक्षका विषयी थोडी भीती असते. पण काळे सरांच्या बाबतीत असे काही नाही. सर खूप गमती जमती करत शिकवायचे व त्यामुळे मुलांना ते सर्वच मुलांचे खूप आवडीचे शिक्षक आहेत. काळे सरांच्या शिकवण्याच्या पद्धतीचा बऱ्याच जणांना खूप फायदा होतो. आमच्या शाळेत सातवी ते दहावी मधील विद्यार्थी इंग्रजी व गणितासाठी कधीही क्लासेस लावत नाहीत. त्यांच्या शिकवणीच्या पद्धतीमुळे मुलांना कधी अभ्यासाचा कंटाळा येत नाही. काळे सर खूप हुशार व बुद्धिमान आहेत.

काळे सर शिक्षक म्हणूनच नव्हे तर माणूस म्हणून देखील खूप चांगले आहेत. आमच्या शाळेत एकदा एका मुलाकडे शाळेची फी भरण्यासाठी पैसे नव्हते, तेव्हा त्या मुलाची फी आमच्या सरांनी भरली. काळे सरांचे गणित आणि इंग्रजी हे विषय मुख्य असले तरी त्यांना इतर विषयांचे पण खूप चांगले ज्ञान आहे. काळे सर शिकवताना खूप सारी उदाहरणे देऊन किंवा चांगले दृष्टांत देऊन समजवातात, त्यामुळे तो धडा किंवा कविता समजण्यास व लक्षात ठेवण्यास खूप मदत होते. अभ्यास शिकवताना ते आम्हाला खूप सारे छोटे छोटे किस्से सांगून शिकवातात, त्यामुळे अभ्यासातील कठीण धडे सोपे आणि मजेदार होऊन जातात. आमच्या शाळेतील काही मुले बाहेरची शिकवणी लाऊ शकत नाहीत, अश्या मुलांसाठी सर शाळे अगोदर किंवा नंतर दोन तास शिकवणी घेतात. जी मुले अभ्यासात थोडी कमजोर आहेत त्या मुलांवर काळे सरांचे बारीक लक्ष असते. एखादी गोष्ट त्यांना समजत नसेल किंवा लक्षात राहत नसेल तर ते विविध प्रयत्न करून धडा कसा लक्षात येईल आणि लक्षात राहील यासाठी झटत रहातात.

आम्हाला आमचे शिक्षक इतके आवडतात की आम्ही त्यांचा तास कधी येईल याची वाट पाहत रहातो. काळे सर मनाने खूप चांगले आहेत त्यामुळे त्यांच्या जवळ सगळे आपल्या समस्या घेऊन जातात व सर त्यावर नक्कीच चांगला उपाय सांगतात. सर हे फक्त अभ्यासच करायला सांगत नाही तर ते खेळ पण खेळायला सांगतात. मुलांनी सगळ्या गोष्टीत हुशार असावे असे त्यांना वाटते. आमच्या शाळेत जेव्हा क्रीडास्पर्धा असतात तेव्हा सर आम्हाला वेगवेगळया खेळांची माहिती सांगतात. खेळांचे नियम ते आम्हाला समजून सांगतात. ते मुलांमधले सुप्त गुण ओळखून त्यांना त्या – त्या क्षेत्रात करियर करायला सांगतात. आणि ते त्या मुलांच्या पालकांना पण समजून सांगायचे कि अभ्यासा व्यतिरिक्त इतर ही अनेक क्षेत्रे आहेत जिथे मुलांची प्रगती होऊ शकते. बऱ्याच वेळा पालकांना समजावणे कठीण व्हायचे, पण स्वतःच्या हुशारीचा वापर करून सर त्यांचे म्हणणे बरोबर पटवून सांगायचे.

माझ्या आयुष्यात माझ्या आई वडिलांचे जसे महत्वाचे स्थान आहे तसेच माझ्या शिक्षकांचे पण मोलाचे स्थान आहे. प्रत्येकाच्या आयुष्यात गुरुचे स्थान मोठेच असते कारण आपल्याला घडविण्यात जसा आई वडिलांचा हात असतो तसा शिक्षकांचा पण मोलाचा वाटा असतो. आपण जर एखादी चूक केली तर अनायसे शिक्षकांना जबाबदार धरले जाते. त्यामुळे शिक्षकांनी केलेले संस्कार फार मोलाचे ठरतात. शाळेत, महाविद्यालात आणि विद्यापीठात शिक्षक केवळ मुलांना ज्ञान देऊन त्यांचे आयुष्य समृद्ध करणे एवढेच काम करत नाहीत तर आयुष्य कसे जगावे याबद्दल पण मार्गादर्शन करतात. आपण हे ऐकले असेलच की माणूस हा आयुष्यभर विद्यार्थी असतो. माणूस प्रत्येक वळणावर काहीतरी शिकत असतो, मग ते आपल्या आई-बाबां कडून असो किंवा आपल्या मित्र-मंडळीं कडून असो. बोबडे बोल बोलण्यापासून ते नोकरीला लागेपर्यंत आपण विद्यार्थीच असतो. काळे सरांच्या मते पुस्तकी शिक्षणा इतकेच शारीरिक शिक्षण देखील महत्वाचे आहे.

काळे सरांनी आम्हाला घडविण्यासाठी खूप मेहनत घेतली आहे. ते आमच्यावर आई सारखे प्रेम करतात आणि वडिलांसारखी शिस्त लावतात. त्यांच्या शांत आणि सुस्वभावामुळे ते मुलांना आपलेसे वाटतात. काळे सरांनी आम्हाला संस्काराचे धडे सुद्धा दिले आहेत. आपण कितीही शिक्षण घेतले तरी आपले जीवन संस्काराविना व्यर्थ आहे असे त्यांचे म्हणणे आहे. माणूस कुठेही गेला आणि त्याने कितीही पैसे कमावले तरी चांगले संस्कार नसतील तर त्या पैशांचा इतरांना फायदा होत नाही तर उलटे नुकसानच होते हे सरांनी आम्हाला समजावून सांगितले. ज्या समाजात आपण राहतो त्या समाजाचे आपणा ऋणी आहोत आणि या समाजासाठी आपल्याला नेहमीच काहीतरी चांगले कृत्य करत राहिले पाहिजे असे सरांनी आम्हाला शिकवले आहे. त्यामुळे जेव्हा आम्ही निस्वार्थपणे कोणाचीही मदत करतो तेव्हा आम्हाला खूप आनंद मिळतो, पण त्याहून जास्त आनंद तेव्हा मिळतो. जेव्हा आम्ही सरांना आम्ही केलेल्या कार्याबद्दल सरांना सांगतो आणि सरांना आमचा अभिमान वाटतो तेव्हा.

एक यशस्वी व्यक्तीच्या मागे पुस्तकांचा खूप महत्त्वाचा वाटा असतो. विविध पुस्तकांचे वाचन करणे ही मनासाठी लागलेली एक चांगली क्रिया आहे, त्यासोबतच आत्म्यासाठी सुद्धा चांगले ठरतात. पुस्तके आपल्याला आपली भाषा आणि लेखन कौशल्य विकसित करण्यासाठी मदत करतात.

पुस्तकातून आपल्याला प्राचीन काळाबद्दल,इतिहासाबद्दल, धार्मिक, पौराणिक अशा सर्व बाबतीत ज्ञान मिळते.

मी बरीच पुस्तके वाचली आहेत ,यातून माझ्या मनावर कायमची छापा पडली आहे. मला पुस्तक या वाचायला आवडतील त्यातल्या त्यात पौराणिक पुस्तके वाचायला फार आवडते.

मी आज पर्यंत वाचलेल्या सर्व पुस्तकांपैकी मला आवडलेले पुस्तक म्हणजे,  वि. स. खांडेकर यांचे “यायाती” पुस्तक. ययाती वि स खांडेकर यांनी लिहिलेली एक कादंबरी आहे. वि स खांडेकर यांच्या वयातील हे पुस्तक आवडले मागे कारण म्हणजे या पुस्तकामध्ये अनेक पुराणातील घटना कैद केलेल्या आहेत. ययाती या कादंबरीचा पुराणाशी केवळ नावापुरता संबंध नसून, ही कादंबरी पौराणिक घटना एकत्र करून स्वतंत्ररित्या मांडली आहे.

पौराणिक कथा म्हणजे त्यामध्ये खूप काही भव्य आणि भयंकर लढा आढळून येतो. परंतु ययाती या कादंबरीमध्ये पुराणातील काही ठराविक कथा व घटना घेऊन जीवन हे काही क्षणापुरते तेच असते, असे सांगितले आहे. तर दुसऱ्या बाजूने जीवन हे चिरंतन, भौतिक आणि अध्यात्मिक आहे असे सांगितले आहे.

मी वाचलेला बहुतांश पुराणांमध्ये मला लढाई, युद्ध , डावपेच हे सर्व वाचायला मिळाले. परंतु यायाती या कादंबरीमध्ये किंवा पुस्तकामध्ये एका राजाच्या जीवनातील उतार चडपणा अतिशय सोप्या आणि सरळ शब्दांमध्ये आपल्या समोर मांडली आहे, त्यामुळे ययाती हे मला आवडलेले पुस्तक आहे.

वि.स. खांडेकर यांनी ययाती या कादंबरीची सुरुवात देव-दानव विद्या पासून केली आहे. या कादंबरीतील कथा अशी आहे ती म्हणजे – ययाती ची कथा ही महाभारतातील आदिपर्व या भागातील बरसे पात्र वि स खांडेकर यांनी या कादंबरीत दाखवले आहेत. वि स खांडेकर यांनी या कथेचे अगदी सुलभ आणि इतरांना कळेल अशा भाषेमध्ये मांडणी केली आहे.

ययाती चे वडील नहुष हे खूप शूर वीर असतात. परंतु त्यांच्या गैरवर्तन ना मुळे इंद्रदेव त्यांना शाप देतात की, नहुष नहाराजांची मुले कधीही सुखी राहणार नाहीत. जेव्हा नहुष महाराज युद्धावर असतात तेव्हा, यायातिला या शापा बद्दल कळते. ययाती चा लहान भाऊ याती हा लहानपणीच रजविलासा पासून दूर संन्यासी जीवन व्यतीत करतो.

ययाति ल नात्या शपाबद्दल कळाल्याने तो ही घाबरून जातो त्याला वाटते की, आता मला कधीही सुखी जीवन मिळणार नाही. पुढे ययाती चे लग्न शुक्राचार्य ची मुलगी देवयानी यांच्यासोबत झाले. देवयानी त्यांच्यासाठी त्यांची सखी सर्विष्ठा दासी म्हणून यायाती व देवयानी यांच्या सोबत राहू लागली. सर्विष्ठा‌चे सुंदर रुप पाहून यायाती राजा तिच्यावर मोहित झाला.

देवयानी काढून राजाला दोन पुत्र प्राप्त झाले,तर सर्विष्ठा कडून ययाती ला तीन पुत्र प्राप्त झाले. जेव्हा ही बातमी देवयानीला करती तेव्हा ती शुक्राचार्याला ययाती बद्दल सर्व हकीकत सांगते, त्यावर शुक्राचार्य य त्याला वृद्ध होण्याचा शाप देतात. तरी सुद्धा यायातीचा मनातील ही वासराचे भावना नष्ट होत नाही.

एके दिवशी यमराज देव ययाती ला घेण्यासाठी येतात, तेव्हा ययाती यम राजाजवळ विनंती करतो की त्याला पुन्हा तरुण्य दिले जावे. त्यावर यमराज म्हणतात की, तुझ्या सर्व पुत्रांपैकी एकादा पुत्र तुला त्याचे तारूण्य दान देत असेल तर, तुला तुझ्या यौवन परत मिळेल. आपला पितावर द्या करून यायाती चा पाचवा मुलगा त्याला यौवन दान करतो.

ययाती पुन्हा तरूण होऊन आपली वासनाची भूक मिटवण्यासाठी शंभर राणी सोबत लग्न करतो. व त्यातून त्याला शंभर पुत्र प्राप्त होतात.

त्यानंतर शंभर वर्षां नंतर यामराज पुन्हा ययातीला घ्यायला येतात, तेव्हा त्याच्यातील वासनाची न संपणारे भूक बघून आश्चर्यचकित होतात. ययाती पुन्हा यमराजाकडे यौवन साठी प्रार्थना करतो, त्यावर यमराज पुन्हा त्याला पहिल्यासारखेच वरदान देतात, यावर ययाती पुन्हा आपल्या एका मुलाचे यौवोन प्राप्त करतात व हा दिनक्रम पुढचे हजारो वर्षे चालतो.

अशाप्रकारे ययातिने सुखप्राप्तीसाठी वासना चा सहारा घेतला.

ययातीच्या याच वासना ची कहाणी ययाती या पुस्तकात सांगण्यात आली आहे. पुढे राजाला त्याच्या चूक लक्षात येऊन राजाने केलेला पश्चाताप याचे सुद्धा वर्णन केले आहे.

अशा प्रकारे यायातीची ही कहाणी अतिशय सुंदर शब्दांमध्ये वि. स .खांडेकर यांनी मांडली आहे. त्यांनी या पुस्तकातून मनुष्याच्या चिरतरुण राहण्याच्या व भोगवादी वृत्ती वर एक प्रकाश टाकला आहे.

जेव्हा मनुष्याला हा वर मिळतो  त्यावेळेस त्याला  हे जीवनातील अंतिम तथ्य नाही याची जाणीव होते. वि.स.खांडेकर यांनी ययाती ह्य पुस्तकात हेच सर्वसामान्यांना सांगितले आहे. ययाती ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ह्या  पुस्तकासाठी  वी.स. खांडेकर यांना इ.स. 1960 मध्ये  साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्काराने आणि इ.स. 1974  मध्ये भारतातील  साहित्यासाठीचा  सर्वोच्च

I consider becoming a yacht broker one of the best decisions I have ever made.

In 2016 I jumped feet first into the yacht, boat, and ship brokerage industry with little experience but with incredible passion. Selling yachts was my first job out of college and is still my only post graduation job, aside from working on this website and building other websites.

I even turned down a job offer from Google to work in the yacht industry!

One of the many benefits, in my opinion, of being a yacht broker is that the job is semi seasonal. While the definition of seasonal will change depending on where you work, not being busy for the full 12 months allows me time to offshore fish, build websites , travel, and much more.

How I Became A Yacht Broker

While in college I started a drone photography and videography business as drones, at the time, were still new to market and the barrier to entry was high.

I started by filming short video clips for car dealerships and real estate agents, but I wanted to incorporate my passions of saltwater fishing and yachts with photography.

One day I cold emailed the most reputable “fishing centric” yacht brokerage in San Diego, California and offered my drone services free of charge. Fast forwarding, this free video offer lead to monthly paid work for over a year. During this year period I was becoming more immersed in saltwater fishing and built up a small following on social media.

Upon graduating from college, I approached the owner and asked for a sales position at the brokerage, to which I was added to the team immediately. Over the last 5 years, I have been responsible for the sale of nearly $33 million in yachts and boats.

How Much Does A Yacht Broker Make?

Researching the compensation for a particular industry or position is important before making a career move.

In most cases, a yacht broker is not paid a salary, rather paid solely on commission. The standard industry commission is 10% based on the selling price of the vessel. This means compensation can range from $100,000 to over $1 million per year.

In my experience, the harder you work the more you will earn as the job is purely commission. There will be months, or several months, where you don’t bring home any income, but when the season is in full swing you will be glad you’re paid on commission and not salary.

Yacht Broker License Information

It’s fairly easy to become a yacht broker or a yacht salesperson. These terms often get lumped together as the same, however a broker owns the company where the salesperson “hangs” their license under.

Only two states in the United States required a license to sell yachts and boats. Florida requires a license for those selling vessels over 32’ that are not their own, and California requires a license for those selling vessel over 16’ that are not their own. The other 48 states are more lax, so I would suggest speaking to a local brokerage in your state about their rules.

How You Can Become A Yacht Broker

Nearly anyone can become a yacht broker or a yacht salesperson, but not everyone will succeed at the job. Below is a list of traits and actions that can help you get into the category of yacht brokers who earn a substantial living.

1. Be Driven 

As mentioned earlier, this job is purely commission based so you need an excellent work ethic and a “go getter” attitude in order to generate income. Yes you can sit back and not do much work, but when starting out and building your client base, this will lead to lackluster results. Be willing to walk the docks, advertise, leverage social media, and look for opportunities to spread your name and services.

There will be some months where you don’t earn any money, just know that this will happen and be prepared. Have some money set aside to get through the slow times, but on the contrary, when the market is on fire, the sales come quick and steady. 

In any business, honesty is vital for longterm success. Boats and yachts have countless systems and nuances, so when asked a question you don’t have the answer to, simply say you do not know but will find out. Follow up with your client the same day with the answer.

When it comes to negotiations, stick to your guns and don’t become intimidated. There is a time and place to offer a reduced commission or to help bridge a survey allowance gap, but don’t make this your automatic go to.

2. Have A Passion For Boats and Yachts

Your body language and attitude, whether intentful or not, will be analyzed by prospective buyers and sellers, and if you don’t show passion for what you’re talking about, then this will be apparent.

Many buyers and sellers have chosen to work with me because they could sense my drive and passion for their needs. I highly encourage you to be genuinely excited to show or preview a vessel because you can always learn something new, plus the water is your office…it doesn’t get much better than that.

Having prior sales experience will be helpful in making a seamless transition into the yacht sales industry, but I’ve found it’s not a requirement. As your deal flow increases, transactions will become easier but for the first year or two there will be a lot of learning moments throughout the sales cycle.

When starting out, take as many listing as you can to get experience learning about different boat platforms and brands, as well as work out all the kinks that can arise during negotiations, paperwork and closing.

3. Excellent Communication and Follow Up

This section separates excellent brokers from mediocre brokers. While this may be the most important aspects of the job, I think it requires the least amount of text.

• Always tell the truth and be honest…if an unpleasant conversation needs to be had, do it quickly and with a phone call opposed to sending an email
• Always stay in contact with your clients…whether they are a prospect, in contract on a boat, or a past client, maintain contact often
• Follow up early and often…be preemptive in your communication, pre addressing and questions before they become questions…a simple text message or two sentence email with an update is often all that is needed for your client to instill additional trust in you

4. Contact Local Yacht Brokerages For An Open Position

Once you have a good understanding of what you’re entering in to, it’s time to start looking for a brokerage to work under.

If you’re totally new to the industry, I recommend using Google to find reputable brokerages in your area, or you can see which brokerages advertise in the back of Yachting Magazine or Marlin Magazine for example.

For those with some experience within the boating industry, you should have somewhat of an idea of which brokerage houses are the most reputable in your area.

There is no better way to land a job than walking in and asking to speak to the owner or manager. Bring a resume and be prepared if the decision maker wants to talk right then. Even if a position isn’t available today, stay in contact via email so that when an opening does occur your name comes to mind.

Selling yachts for a living has offered me many opportunities that I could have never had without this employment. If you’re ready to work hard, then I encourage you to take the plunge immediately. The first 12 months will be difficult, but after that the learning curve begins to flatten.

For many wealthy boat owners, a private spa is a must-have on board. A sauna is a nice touch. A Jet Ski or two makes days at sea way more fun. And if you don't have someone on board who can whip up a Michelin-star-worthy meal , you might as well stay on land.

In the world of massive yachts , there's no such thing as too much. After all, if someone spends eight or nine figures to design the vessel of their dreams — or at least $500,000 a week to charter one — more is more.

"Yachting. It's not rational; it's emotional," Ralph Dazert, the head of intelligence at SuperYacht Times, told Business Insider at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, where dozens of superyachts — often defined as vessels over 30 meters in length — were on display.

And while there are certain classic features, such as jacuzzis and bars, what superyacht owners want is evolving, insiders at the show said. That might mean more crew members, more space for helicopters, or more water toys, but might also include manicure salons and putting greens.

"The bar of what is the baseline expectation has increased exponentially just over the last four or five years," Anders Kurtén, the CEO of brokerage Fraser Yachts, said. Clients are "spending more time on the boat and really wanting to extend the lifestyle they lead on the shore."

A lot of this can be chalked up to the pandemic. Superyacht purchases and charters spiked as life and luxury travel on land screeched to a halt. While the market has moderated slightly, the number of superyachts on order — 1,166 as of September, according to Boat International's Global Order Book — is still above pre-pandemic norms.

"What the pandemic really showed is that the appetite for being out there at sea, sort of living the marine lifestyle, is still as valid as ever," Kurtén said.

That means there's a lot of money on the water. The total value of the 203 superyachts over 30 meters delivered last year was $6.4 billion, according to data from SuperYacht Times. New custom builds from the world's most prestigious shipyards — Lurssen, Feadship, Oceanco , Benetti — can run into the hundreds of millions. Even used superyachts at the Palm Beach show cost as much as $75 million.

And it's not just traditional buyers like retired wealthy couples looking for a place to relax or celebrities looking for a place to party away from the paparazzi. New clients are often younger and have families, so want areas to work and watch movies . They also want pricey water toys, access to fitness equipment, or even pizza ovens for picky eaters.

"This would've never happened in the nineties," said Giovanna Vitelli, the vice president of the Azimut Benetti Group, the world's biggest producer of superyachts. "You would go with your beautiful woman, Champagne — the idea of yachting was much more showing off with your jacuzzi and things like that."

"Life on board was considered very formal — big formal dining rooms, boats were high on the water, you would be segregated from the rest of the world," Vitelli said, remembering another client who insisted on a replica of the Sistine Chapel above the dining table.

But the ostentatious, palatial-like interiors that used to be highlighted in yacht brochures have made way for lists of more functional features .

Of course, a crew comes at a cost . Most are considered full-time employees, requiring salaries and benefits like health insurance. Captains, first mates, and chief engineers often make six figures a year. That's without tips; a charter guest will typically spend six figures on gratuities for the crew who worked during a weeklong vacation.

For the superrich, there must be room for toys.

It's not just the onboard amenities that count. What's known as "toys" in the industry — water slides, eFoils, Jet Skis, and underwater scuba diving jets — are popular, and costs range from merely hundreds of dollars (banana boats) to millions ( submersibles , which are still popular despite the recent tragedy).

" Tenders and toys, the sky seems to be the limit," Kurtén said. "More is more."

If you can't fit all those toys in the yacht's storage space, you can just use another boat. Jeff Bezos' support yacht is a superyacht in itself, measuring 75 meters and costing tens of millions of dollars. (His main yacht, Koru , cost a reported $500 million.)

"It used to be a tender was a tender," Jeffrey Beneville, who handles yacht insurance at NFP, told BI. "Now they're called limousine tenders. Think of an incredibly luxurious gondola that's got a hard top so nobody's hair gets mussed when they're being dropped off at the Monaco Yacht Club ."

One thing that clearly hasn't changed in superyachting: showing off. If the boat next door at the marina has an indoor-outdoor cinema, it's natural to want one too. Ditto a wine cellar or helipad.

"It's a bit of a celebration of your success in life, of wealth," Vitelli, whose company is behind the Lana yacht Bill Gates chartered for a birthday party three years ago, said. "You push it a little more."

And that's a boon for yacht makers and brokers catering to the superrich.

"Our job is to make clients' dreams come true," Kurtén said.

Business | south florida yacht brokers hit with lawsuits that claim 10% commissions violate antitrust laws.

Two newly filed federal lawsuits claim that 10% sales commissions required by South Florida’s yacht broker industry are anticompetitive and violate antitrust laws.

The claims follow an October finding by a federal jury in Kansas City, Missouri, that the National Association of Realtors conspired with brokers to artificially inflate commissions paid to real estate brokers. The ruling, and a March 15 settlement by the Realtors, is expected to radically change how homes are sold in the United States.

Both lawsuits involving yacht brokers name as defendants the International Yacht Brokers Association, based in Fort Lauderdale, the Yacht Brokers Association of America, Boats Group LLC and YATCO LLC.

Also listed as defendants in both suits are a who’s who of South Florida-based yacht brokers, including Denison Yacht Sales, MarineMax Inc., Galati Yacht Sales Inc., Allied Marine Inc., Tournament Yacht Sales LLC and Northrop & Johnson Yacht Ships, among others.

Nearly all of the defendants are headquartered in South Florida.

The most recent suit, filed on March 22, proposes a class of plaintiffs that includes anyone who listed vessels on certain Multiple Listing Services using a listing agent or broker affiliated with one of the defendants and paid a buyer’s broker commission since March 22, 2020.

The lead plaintiff in the lawsuit is Kip Lamar Snell, identified as an Alabama resident. Snell entered into an agreement with Galati to sell a 41-foot Express Cruiser Sea Ray in July 2020 and ended up paying a $12,000 commission on the $120,000 sale price, the suit states. The lawsuit lists as defendants 15 brokers and six organizations that promote the yacht trade or operate Multiple Listing Services.

That lawsuit follows one filed on Feb. 29 that proposes a class of plaintiffs that includes anyone who paid a commission to a listing broker affiliated with the defendants since Feb. 19, 2020. It lists as defendants 11 brokers and five organizations that promote the yacht trade or operate Multiple Listing Services.

The lead plaintiff in that suit is Ya Mon Expeditions, a Wyoming company that paid a “substantial broker commission” when it sold a vessel in January 2023 while represented by Tournament Yacht Sales of Tequesta.

The most recent complaint accuses the trade associations of colluding with brokers to “enforce an anticompetitive restraint that requires (sellers of pre-owned yachts and boats) to pay a brokerage fee to the buyer’s broker and a total aggregate commission fee that is inflated as a condition for selling their yachts.”

The complaint states the typical commission is 10% and is shared between the seller’s broker and the buyer’s broker under terms spelled out in Central Listing Agreements provided by the brokers associations, including the International Yacht Brokers Association and the Yacht Brokers Association of America.

Only boat brokers are able to list boats and yachts on such Multiple Listing Services as YachtWorld.com, BoatTrader.com and Boats.com, and the Multiple Listing Services will not accept listings from owners who want to sell their vessels themselves, the lawsuit states.

Yacht owners are “severely disadvantaged” if they do not list their boats for sale on the listing services, while buyers suffer because their brokers are “financially incentivized” to show boats that will earn them standard “and inflated” commission rates of 4% to 5% through co-brokerage transactions, the complaint states.

None of the defendants contacted for this story responded to a request for comment, and no response has been filed yet in either case.

Robert Allen Jr., whose Miami-based law firm Robert Allen Law represents the International Yacht Brokers Association, did not respond to emails or return a phone call.

A woman who answered the phone at the International Yacht Brokers Association said, “We have no comment on that,” and hung up after a reporter asked for her name.

Of six brokers contacted for comment about the lawsuits, only Tournament Yacht Sales responded to emails. “No comment,” the company’s response stated.

Overall commissions have increased faster than the rate of inflation in recent years as the price of larger boats and yachts have increased, according to the lawsuit that lists Snell as lead plaintiff.

The result is that boat owners pay “hundreds of millions of dollars” in inflated commissions each year, the suit alleges.

Both lawsuits allege violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act that are upheld by “brokers who should be competing with one another but, instead, cooperate with each other to the detriment of pre-owned boat sellers.”

Some brokerages represent both buyers and sellers and retain the entire 10% commissions, the suits state.

The trade associations enforce rules requiring brokers to offer their boats through a listing service and to share commissions, the suits state, adding that they can impose significant penalties on members who do not comply with their rules.

Yacht purchasers are disadvantaged by the current system, the lawsuit alleges, because their agents would otherwise negotiate for their business by decreasing their commission rates.

But buyer brokers’ commissions have remained constant despite their diminishing role, the suits state. Many buyers today find boats they are interested in purchasing through online searches and enlist the services of a buyer’s broker only after identifying the yacht they want to buy, the suits claim.

The lawsuits seek an order declaring the commission structure to be illegal, a permanent injunction outlawing what they describe as anticompetitive conduct, plus damages and/or restitution, pre- and post-judgment interest, and attorneys’ fees.

Paul Geller, an attorney for one of two law firms representing the class that includes Snell, acknowledged “parallels between the allegations relating to commissions in the real estate and yacht markets.”

In the real estate matter, the National Association of Realtors on March 15 agreed to a $418 million proposed settlement that would free home sellers from paying commissions to brokers for both sellers and buyers.

After a jury ruled for the plaintiffs in the case against the National Association of Realtors in October, numerous lawsuits were filed across the country with similar allegations, including one in December against the Florida Association of Realtors and 16 brokerages.

“At bottom, the goals of (the suit against the yacht brokers) are similar: protecting consumers by challenging what we allege to be anti-competitive conduct,” Geller said by email. “We believe in the universal truth that consumers benefit by increased transparency and the competitive pricing that results from negotiated terms, including commissions.”

श्याम म्हणजे पांडुरंग सदाशिव साने त्यांनी त्यांच्या जीवनातील संस्कारक्षम अनुभवाची शिदोरी या पुस्तकाच्या माध्यमातून मांडले आहे. सर्वप्रथम आपण या पुस्तकाचे अंतरंग व बाह्य रंगांमध्ये मांडणी केली असता, पुस्तकाची किंमत रुपये 80/- तर प्रकाशन सरस्वती बुक कंपनी पुणे 2 यांनी केला आहे.

बसलेलीमुखपृष्ठावरचा शामच घर , ओट्यावर बसलेली श्यामची आई, श्याम त्याचे मित्र फुले घेऊन येतात असे मुखी फुले या प्रसंगातील चित्र आहे. तर मला पृष्ठावर विविध पुस्तकांची चित्रासहित यादी देण्यात आली आहे. या पुस्तकातील पोस्टांची संख्या 240 आहे. विविध प्रसंगाची सुंदर चित्रे दाखवण्यात आलेले आहेत.

“करेला मनोरंजन जो मुलांचे जडेल नाते प्रभुशीत” याचे या उक्तीप्रमाणे पुस्तकाच्या अंतरंगात डोकावल्यास आईच्या प्रेमामुळे थोर शिकवणुकीचे सरळ साध्या व सुंदर संस्कृतीचे करून व गोड चित्र रेखाटलेले आहे. मुळात श्यामची आई हे कारागृहाच्या गजाआड जन्मलेलं बाळ आहे.

9 फेब्रुवारी 1933 ते 13 फेब्रुवारी 1933 च्या सुमारास साने गुरुजींनी श्यामची आई हा ग्रंथ लिहिला एकूण 42 रात्री पैकी 36 रात्री नाशिकच्या तुरुंगात लिहिलेल्या आहेत.

आई माझा गुरु आई, माझा कल्पतरू असे साने गुरुजी म्हणतात रस, रंग, नाद, प्रेम, स्पर्श या संवेदनांची अनुभूती श्यामची आई वाचताना येते आणि तीही अगदी सहजगत्या माळीतून मनी उघडावेत, पारिजातकाच्या झाडातून टप टप फुले पडावे, गायकाच्या गोड गळ्यातून सूर पाजरावेत, अशा संवेदनांची अनुभूती श्यामची आई वाजता नाही मानवी भावभावनांचे कितीतरी पदर पापुद्रे श्यामची आई मध्ये वाचायला भेटतात. सावित्री व्रताच्या पहिल्या रात्रीत साने गुरुजींनी त्यांच्या घराण्याचा इतिहास सांगितला आहे.

त्यात ते म्हणतात केवळ प्रेम नुसती दया असून भागत नाही जीवन सुंदर व यशस्वी बनविण्यासाठी तीन गुणांची आवश्यकता आहे हे तीन गुण म्हणजे ते ज्ञान शक्ती या तीन गोष्टी ज्याच्या जवळ आहे त्याला या जगात कृतार्थ ठरतंय.
